Surely if there was a zero rating I would have definitely gave it!!!! Worst experience ever!!!! I understand there is standard procedures that need to be followed! However, there is a reason we pay for medical aid!!! Today my boyfriend was sick, in pain and could barely move, we had his medical number, ID number and card, however his card was left at work. People are allowed to make human errors. We had proof of his medical aid as well! The lady and guy at the trauma unit was extremely rude and unhelpful!!! At least be kind in a situation, we were more of a joke to him than him trying to assist us!!! People will be dying and yet they will not receive any treatment from this hospital and it's surely not our first experience, this being the closet hospital to us is definitely the worst, id probably get better treatment at Khans!! No one is willing to help in time of need, yes everyone needs money to survive and have procedures that are put in place but this is no one way to treat a human being in distress!! I am really disappointed to know that this is the level of patient care we get yet we pay for medical aid. It's not like we were going to run away with money, money is never the issue, however there's a reason we pay for medical aid! One mistake, and no kindness towards us! The only person helpful at this hospital was an Indian security guard! Maybe the people working in the admitting department should learn a thing or two from him to show kindness!

Taking my 8 year old to the trauma unit because she's been throwing up and had a sore throat. Instead of leaving her uncomfortable throughout the night and taking her to a normal gp only tomorrow i suggested let's take her for a drip and she'll be good in no time. The doctor in trauma suggests an x-ray which i had declined because my baby is coming down with a flu clearly what's the need for an x ray?? Then they suggest covid testing and bloods to be done. I allow those and after covid coming back negative and awaiting the blood results which took over an hour to come back the doctor walks in, in front of my 8 year old saying unfortunately we need to admit her for this and this. I refused to get my 8 year old admitted after i as a mother know that she only has a flu. I was asked to sign some forms for refusal of admission and x ray and after going home and seeing what those unusual high counts (CRP and leucocyte) meant it is normally caused by your body fighting off infections and there's absolutely no need for admission but just ordinary antibiotics. This hospital looks for any way to get you admitted and i feel it's nothing but a money making scheme. (Kudos to the sister that was assisting (Narisha), my kid loved her and she made everything really seamless and less scary)

The worst service i ever experienced on Sunday 01h00 15th November 2020, my daughter was brought into trauma. The lady in the front Office was absolutely unprofessional and under qualified to do her job. She could not use a Speed Point machine and double charged my credit card because she did not know how to replace the paper on the FNB speedpoint machine. She could not refund me, she did not know how to. Pressing all the buttons in hope that something may happen. I was gobsmacked. My mind was all about my daughter so i excused myself and decided to address this later. To be fair, the nurse and the trauma doctor at the hospital were the only two people who gave us amazing service expected from a private hospital. Refund was only done on Tuesday 17th and the admin supervisor held us up for over 2 hours. Such a don't care attitude. The front office lady also billed us as a cash patient instead of a medical aid patient. I will never use this hospital again, just as bad as a government hospital. Absolutely disappointing service. Chatsmed management, please screen and hire people who will uplift your hospital, not elderly people who don't even know how to replace the paper on a speedpoint machine. A very upset patient.......

My mum is a cancer patient, also has had a knee replacement and walks with the assistance of a walker .She is required to do weekly bloods at Lancet. The screening nurses at the front this time the 9th week , decided to use the authority bestowed upon them to make it seem that we have committed a huge sin of taking a shortcut to the labs . ( there is only one entrance to the hospital)The previous nurses and security were very understanding noting that she is very elderly , and she gets quite tired easily .While I fully understand why the measures are put in place there should be an exception to the rule for certain elderly patients that cannot walk unnecessarily. These nurses need to evaluate how they speak. I really felt that they felt that they were doing us a huge favour by “letting it slide “this time . Really !!!

Honestly I wouldn't even give this hospital a star.. The trauma doctors are completely useless, they can't read a simple blood test. The administration stuff are more interested in chatting and laughing with each other instead of helping patients. The rooms are packed and the icu is worst than any public hospital I have ever seen. You would think that going to a private hospital that you would get sufficient care.. We know that staff are over worked at most hospitals but the staff at chatsmed are more interested in chatting with one and other. Honestly I would never recommend this hospital to anyone.. If you or a family member are on the brink of death.. I suggest that you go anywhere else.. The hospital is more invested in making money than patient care.. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS DISGUSTING HOSPITAL!!

Pathetic service from nurses. My dad is 77 and underwent hip replacement. He also has other ailments which is slowing the healing process. He is unable to do things for himself. Many times we come there during visiting hours and find him slumped on the bed, with his knees raised, or head on the rails. Nurses do not even go check on their patients. He is not eating solids, so they feed him yogurt and custard every day. How is a patient suppose to heal and get better with these foods?? At least give him nutritional foods such as soups. This is highly unacceptable. The hospital board should now get involved. We are paying so much for quality service, yet the hospitals service and standards are so low. This is just pathetic. I need feedback ASAP!! We will not let this slide through the cracks.

Reviewing a hospital isn't easy, especially when you are receiving medical care. However, after having been admitted to several hospitals in the past, and having visited friends and family in the past, I cannot fault Life Chatsmed Garden Hospital on any one of many criteria. Chatsmed ticks all the right boxes. 1. Easy admission and covered by most Med Aids. 2. Extrememely friendly staff - from nursing personnel to catering and kitchen. 3. Very accommodating and patient centred. 4. Excellent medical care. 5. Varied meal options. 6. Clean. 7. Open communication channels. I am phobic regarding hospitalization but Chatsmed Gardens is like home from home. I credit them with my journey to healing and good health. In Durban, South Africa, this would be my choice for good health care any time.

I was admitted last year in an emergency, and once again this week when I went in for a procedure. Both times, I could not find a single fault. From admission to the nurses that prepped me for theater, to the theater nurses themselves, the anaesthetist as well as the post op care from the nurses in B and C ward, you were all amazing. Beyond grateful to the nurses for having kept me in the loop every step of the way, and reassuring me that all would be well. P.S the highlight of my stay was the porter, Mr. Vincent. Kind and wonderful gentleman that certainly deserves a raise, promotion, or a helluva lot more recognition

Took my mum in for admission. The security did not allow us to take the car to admission and was told to park the car at the doctor's sessional parking. My mum cannot walk and uses a walking aid. She battled to walk up the incline but the security did not even offer any assistance let alone get a wheelchair. This is not the first experience at Chatsmed and I have emailed the hospital previously but no response from them. Clearly this is their care for their patrons or rather lack of care. This will be the last time that my family or myself seek admission at that hospital.

Hospital has no method of control for covid patients and normal patients. Should have a point of control at the drive way and then be able to direct people. Went for a simple xray and was confronted with being in the same vicinity as a covid patient, how did the patient make it all the way to the xray department? At the driveway you can simply ask suspected covid or not. Then people can have a path to follow within the hospital to the red zone. People are going to get Covid if this place does not sort the control mechanism out.

To all the nurses and staff of Chatsmed G-Ward, I thank you for all the care I received during my 1 week battle with Covid Pneumonia in Dec 2020. It was the worst time of of my life but being at this hospital under the care of these nurses, saved my life. I am grateful to all of you. This hospital really surprised me: clean, professional and caring!...I could not ask for more! God bless our front-line workers! To Ashwin who admitted me...thank you!...was a long admission but in the end....I survived!...THANK YOU!

It's just unsettling that I have to write this review. My family was admitted to the hospital for a procedure at 6h30 in the morning and she is 76 years old. One would think that for her age you would put her as a priority. It was late that evening that she was discharged. It took me 30 minutes and 6 calls to just get through the ward. From my side the hospital is more about money than peoples health. Professionalism does not exist, questions is do people that took an oath to save lives really apply that belief.

CARE: Doctor amazing, Nursing staff members are super heroes ( Team Kerry), these brave nurses, the true assets that are holding institutions together in these trying times, CLEANING: toilets should be cleaned more regularly during this pandemic once a day is not adequate , Catering, absolute no pride, haphazardly thrown items on a tray, ordered items mixed or omitted like bread, coffee etc, one wonders if they felt they were feeding animals. As a diabetic, no consideration given in the menu. F WARD 25.2

I think chatsmed is a great hospital. My nephew was admitted here and he received awesome care and treatment. I know some "Typical mindset" people who come to this hospital and have such bad reviews because most lack medical knowledge and don't understand conditions and the treatments that patients should undergo as they feel they know better than learned medical people. We placed my nephew in your total care and he made a full recovery, Which my family and i appreciated. A big thank you !

  • Rekha Maharaj

Chatsmed is untidy..the old trama centre that is now converted to wards , needs a good clean and paint..so dirty ..It is supposed to be a private hospital, the night staff is absolutely slow .very unprofessional and unfriendly. The hospital needs to be upgraded..They charge such so much , but there is no upkeep to the hospital. Staff needs to be on fast and friendly. When I phoned the hospital to check on a patient, I never got through. Bad service.

  • Keagan Singh

Surprisingly very modern clean and well maintained. The place has all of the amenities that you could ask for. From a high-tech ER to very upmarket wards. They have a large number of doctors who have private rooms on the premises, a delicious cafeteria and fully stocked pharmacy. I saw an atm and i am sure that i missed a few others. Overall a pleasant happy environment , you would forget about the fact you are sick

  • Andrea Appasamy

Excellent service and care given to my son. I was pleasantly surprised with the efficience and professionalism. Well done to the Casualty and Ward B staff for making an extremely stressful time better. My son and I never needed anything because the day and night nurses where always there making sure we had anything and everything we required. I am truly grateful to you all and we appreciate the great work you do

  • alvina subramony

Medical and nursing staff are professional however finer details such as the Dr being contacted when you need further help is rare and staff have an unfriendly attitude and often unapproachable behaviour also the kitchen staff are not efficient in their work as well as quality and variety of food are poor which is not the case at other life hospitals that I have been admitted to please address these problems

  • Mariam R

Worst experience ever .been in pain in the trauma unit for over 2 hours waiting for a dr to see me and confirm the gp’s diagnosis of appendicitis which I’ve been told is extremely serious, so I can be admitted, and there’s only one on duty who hasn’t even looked in my direction even though I’ve asked for her so many times and she’s chilling at the nurses station.

  • Rene Cherian

Pathetic Pvt hospital. Greedy doctors. Their doc is so old, he prescribed incorrect medication and also forgot what he did during the operation of my gran. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, flies in the room and unhelpful staff. They like to keep patients for longer than necessary and won't accept/ treat you unless you have medical aide or money

  • Madinah Designs

Should really be zero stars. Went into trauma. There isn't anyone who is assisting to actually tell you what is the process. Patients I spoke to said they were already waiting an hour to get into trauma. Rather save yourself the trouble and take a drive to St Augustines. They know how to run a trauma department and you will be seen to within minutes

  • Shivam Sukhnandan

Had to rush my wife to the outpatient ward tonight at Life Chatsmed Hospital. She was treated by Dr. Kapil Maharaj, Sister Shamin Bisunath and Sister Qiniso. They attended to her with the utmost care and professionalism. There was no long waiting and everything was orderly done. Medical professionals with true passion for their trade. Big respect.

  • Reena Rambujan

I am still in here and much disappointed as I am a diabetic and almost went into a coma. No snack was given after lunchtime meal..supper was the next meal. Honestly no one check on diabetics...I am insulin dependent...whether they require additional snacks...saving or cutting back does not help...pay attention to each patient's unique condition..

  • Sashen Naidoo

I was in B ward room 11.. I was treated so well by all the staff. Friendly and helpful always willing to go over n above. But I must commend day shift sister Prilean an night shift sister rowena. For the warm n caring nature. The true meaning of a nurse. Hats of to you guys. Thank you for making my stay comfortable.

  • Lall Ganasram

I must commend the Chatsmed hospital for exceptional service I received when I was booked in for a medical procedure. The efficient service from admission to Ward C day care to theatre and finally Vincent the Porter who wheeled me to my transport. All I can say is thank you and keep up the good work.

  • Christopher Chetty

Thanks for the super care from the nurses of ward 14 who took part in my speedy recovery due to their efficient and effective treatment after my procedure. I have great faith in the staff of chatsmed who have made my stay a lesson I won't forget. . I thank all for their patience and understanding.

  • Martie Robinson

I visited my mom almost daily while she was taken care of, at this hospital, while recovering from a fall. Not once did I detect any unpleasant hospital smell. The hospital is spotlessly clean and well run. The staff are professional, kind and caring. Definately one of the best hospitals around.

  • Shannel Joshua

I would like to thank Dr Moodley and nurses at trauma that took exceptional care of me on monday 21/02/2022,I am grateful to this amazing team for their efforts please know that your hard work in priotising patients are not in vein, may God bless yourll abundantly and always keep you safe

  • NONTOKOZO SINEGUGU DLAMINI

The service at the hospital is very disappointing. I was a patient and had a surgery and the night staff didn't check if I was okay and neglected me. When I left no one cared to check if I was alright. It's poor service especially a private hospital. It's really not up to standard

  • Marvin Grimett

Excellent attention to detail by the nurses and doctors. I was well taken care of from admission through to discharge. The nurses in the recovery ward did an excellent job in making sure that I was fine before transferring me back to the ward.

  • Silentkillaz411

Nurses are great , friendly , professional care. They truelly go the extra mile for their patients, security is on every corner for your safety. A hospital shouldn't be a place to recommend but if I was unwell , this is the place to be..

  • Sagren Mari

Nurse was gud, but waiting for more than an hour for a doctor. Apparently there's only 1 doctor. If was told would have went to entabeni were we always go. They are quick and there's more than 1 doctor to see to the patient quickly.

  • Kushiella Naicker

I went for a short Dr's visit. There is nothing to complain about. Free parking. The hospital is clean and neat. The Dr's staff is very pleasant and helpful. I had to wait for a while, otherwise all went well, no problems.

Hi just visited my son at the hospital the sanitation is terrible it stinks and the public men's loo by the lifts going up to the wards is even worse it stinks. Please ask management to check.

  • Sasha Ebrahim Sheik

Was fine. The Trauma unit waiting area is often deserted until you have to ask for help. Although they were efficient in getting all my tests done. Will speedy results. Especially on a Sunday

  • Pamela Mika

Worst hospital to go to if you have an emergency, no serve or urgency or care . Admissions desk employees will ignore you until you cry. Save yourself and rather go to to a far away hospital

  • tash pillay

Dr Vineshree Govender is the worst Gynaecologist in the industry. She has given incorrect advice and misled me into having an emergency surgery. She has no compassion for her patients.

  • Lee Juguth

It's a private hospital which is easy accessible for the Chatsworth community. Also has the labs in the same vicinity and the MRI department is well up to speed with there work

  • Renesh G

Sinenhlanhla khanyile from enquiries was excellent. She managed to sort a problem in 20 Mins. Other people had me coming in twice with no luck. Very friendly and efficient.
