On the 16th of May I checked into the casualty of the hospital at 2pm. Crying out in excruciating pain, I was assisted by a very nice Indian nurse who could see how much in pain I am, from there I was taking into the triage room where my vitals were taken and then moved to a bed to be examined by a doctor, The nurse came to put a drip for the pain and doctor came to examine me after about 40 minutes of waiting. He advised that I would be admitted as I needed a procedure done... Getting admitted to a room took forever all while laying in pain a week after giving birth with stitches and thrombosed hemorrhoids, after being admitted to the ward I didn't see the doctor or get feedback on my when my procedure would be until 1am the morning when they came to fetch me. All the time laying in the ward waiting I had to call several times asking for another blanket and still I didn't get one, the lady from the kitchen came to take my order for supper breakfast and lunch after the following morning at 11am after procedure was done I still hasn't received any food and it had been 24 hours later since I last ate, no one could explain why, I hadn't even received a drop of water, and there wasn't any haste in getting me something to eat until the surgeon checked on me and started asking why I hadn't eaten. I was truly so miserable I constantly had to ask for something for pain yet the other two ladies in the ward slept comfortably with the pain medication they were given. I feel like I was neglected because of my age being younger. I truly cannot believe that this is the kind of service My hard earned money is paying for. It truly reminded me of being in a government hospital where there was no sense of urgency, no support and no check ins from nurses. I cried myself to sleep most of the time and even after being discharged I dont even know what procedure was done on me as I am just as much in pain if not more now then when I went in. I cannot sit, sleep or stand because all I feel is pain. There has got to be some kind of intervention because this kind of service is really not okay. I am a new mom whose baby is only one week old and I cannot even look after my son because of the pain I'm in, It is really frustrating when the people you trust and go to for help end up mistreating you.
On the 3/11/2022 our daughter was taken for by her father Riaan van de Wath for an xray at Wilgeheuwel life hospital at approximately 11pm from severe stomav in her right abdomen. she is 15years old She was taken into casualty waiting area and her father was requested at this time to go to the front desk by the casualty DR on call to pay for x-rays to be taken leaving tho minor alone at the back out of sight of casualty from her father the minor was ushed by a nurse to a room at Ampath Laboratory to have blood tests done, of which her father was not made aware of while he was at the front desk and no paperwork permitting such blood tests were presented and signed to authorize the procedure. 1) an underage minor without a guardian or parent was not informed or present during this blood test procedure and no knowledge was passed to the guardian and parent available in the hospital at the time at the front desk as requested to be there by the Casualty Dr on call. 2) The first we became aware that any such blood test procedures had been performed was when we received a litter from NCCS on the 14/4/2023 threatening to ITC and hand over the account After speaking to Ampath Laboratories we were informed that no paperwork was available to them consenting the blood tests on the minor and this should have been done and confirmed by the Casualty Dr when speaking to her father at the main office filing in the forms wer were not mentioned or extra procedure other than the requested xray my daugter was not admitted as we took her to Helen Joseph for arupturing appendicitis. I would like to know what the procedure will be for the miscommunication and malpractice conducted between the father, Life Wilgeheuwel and Ampath Laboratories. 1) A guardian or parent should always be present during these procedures 2) Billing for a procedure was not discussed or consented to by the adult present. kindly let me know how to proceed with this matter as it has been found unethical and non-communication from the staff at Life Hospital Wilgeheuwel
Casualties Casualties the worst I walked in 5.30pm to be told to put name on a waiting list and to sit and wait our turn. Told them my 12 year olds arm looks broken swollen in pain they said they will ask someone to quickly check out but no that did not happen. The waiting area was full they could of provided more chair, windows were closed with poor ventilation. There were too many unused wheel chairs taking up a lot of the space in the waiting area poor paramedics had to wangle around them. One lady at the front desk was stuffing her face with popcorn disgusting go eat in a private room or elsewhere. After a two hour wait I was super annoyed my son in so much pain they saw other people before him, patients with minor tummy aches and things they took them first in to be seen I got up and lost it told them off then eventually someone calls us, but in the mean time front desk staff had not bothered to open a file for my son then I get told before you go in need to open a file, are u kidding me why was this not done in waiting room. Also they make patients suffer in pain and injuries there I had to tell one kid go get ice cold water on his burns cause Wilgeheuwel useless staff did nothing to help him straight away. They do not come see what patients injuries are they don't categorize the injuries no wonder people land up dying there. Then inside emergency rooms are disgustingly filthy gross sight and awful smells of dirtyness no wonder people get super bugs and sepsis in Wilgeheuwel we have lost a few friends there because of this and I couldn't understand why till I saw with my own eyes last night how filthy it is, what a disgrace. The staff at front desk and back of emergency rooms super lazy all they do is eat chat and laugh why are they not lifting their lazy bums and cleaning and do hygiene control. They do not bother to check are you ok or inform them how long and what's going on in process. Useless. I think this hospital needs to be reported
Hello everyone ,I want to make anyone aware who goes to Wilgeheuwel hospital . On Wednesday an African black man (yes I am stating his race ) As that is what he is . Stole my cellphone inside the hospital while I was taking my father for X rays . Inside the X ray room this man came to sit next to me and kept demanding that he needed to use a phone as his wife is in the X ray room and his uncle needs to come to the X ray office . He had called twice on my phone and always brought it back the 3rd time he said I am just by the door and left fake car keys next to me saying his not going anywhere . If you know the x ray waiting area you can see the two windows yet he had ducked under so I don’t see him by the widow and ran with my phone . I just want to make everyone aware yes it was my fault for trusting a person who looked like they needed help inside the hospital . My main point is Wilgeheuwel is not safe the security system is pathetic within 5 min of the incident no one helped me . They did not stop the man nor did they help me get footage of how he got in and how he got out . I was only taken serious when I brought police officers to the hospital and still I was treated with so much disrespect where I was not even allowed to view the person who stole my phone and get his image . Only the police (copy right as they say ) . Within a few min they could of stopped him but instead by the time they did anything he had left and was headed into town with my phone . The men at the reception in the X ray room were the only helpful people . For that I want to thank them for trying to help me . As for the rest if anything happens they don’t care . Be safe and be vigilant people are heartless out there . You think you are helping someone yet they are plotting against you my advise don’t help . Rather tell them to take a hike .
Please add another star, dedicated to the Doctor who was in charge of ER. Baby had an ongoing medical concern, which we would only be able to get confirmation if they draw bloods and send off for test. Our Medical Aid would approve an ER visit, but not admissions at Life Wilgeheuwel, which was 2km away from our home (but would approve ER and admissions at Life Flora). The lady who helped us at reception was a little...cautious, you almost get the feeling that she may have come into trouble for previous mistakes of accepting patients that were not on Life Wilgeheuwel approved list...so after a while, after overhearing and seeing back and forth conversation between my wife and the lady, i went to the counter and said to her, don't do admissions, please go ahead with ER and if she needs to be transferred to Life Flora, then at least our little princess would have received base line care. As i am still standing there, holding baby in my hands, the ER doctor on duty, saw me and asked, what is wrong with the baby...here's what moved me...he asked about the baby, not about admissions or what is wrong...he asked about my princess...i explained to him, and he literally instructed the nurse who was standing around to immediately attend to the baby. Do you have any idea, how that restores my hope in a doctor, when a patient and not a process is more important...to appreciate this post, please read my review for Netcare Parklane Pediatrician ward, where i gave them a undeserved (only because, they should not even have gotten a one star) one star rating. We are looking at changing our main hospital to Life Wilgeheuwel.
Mother had a terrible expierence here. This is a long read but will tell you how she was treated. First her doctor moved her surgery a week before with only a weeks notice moving almost 13 surgeries to the same day. After the surgery the nurses were the absolute worst. They left my mother in the bedpan causing major bladder infections. Confused her with another patient and wanted to discharge her the day of her surgery. Because of that mix up they did not have supper or breakfast for her. She got the leftover meal for supper and a muffin for breakfast. The nurses also consistently called her the wrong name which worried her obviously when including medication and when reminded what her name was they would snap at her. But could later like heard telling eachother to move medications. She wasnt given painkillers until 3am the nest day (she went in at about 9am for surgery) which they insisted on giving that and another pain medication like they were making up for not giving throughout the day. Next day she was sent home with the WRONG script. This was some mans script. The doctors bed side manner was also absolutely atrocious. He didnt want to remove all the staples when we came back and decided that two should stay in for almost 4 weeks. The skin would grow over these so we had to have them out at our GP. You have to push him for answers or anything pretaining to how the aftercare should be handled and if it looks okay. We went again today for her 5 week check up and he didnt even want to see the surgery site. Disgusted at how my mother and other were treated.
If I could give them negative stars they'd be a -5. The nurses lack basic empathy and common sense. I was admitted due to an overdose of pain medication as I had attempted suicide and even after being given information on my diagnosed depression, grief and anxiety I was judged and berated by every single nurse who I had the misfortune of being treated by. They spoke about me to eachother like I was a joke. I HAVE NEVER felt so disrespected and judged by a group of so-called medical professionals. These are people who are supposed to have an idea on how illnesses affect people including mental illness but its clear that these nurses bring their own prejudiced and out-dated views with them into the work place. At one point during my admission into high-care I was asked whether i had any surgeries recently and I answered that I had donated my eggs. Their ignorance showed in the their answers and questions such as "how much did they pay you" and utterances to eachother such as "yeah, girls do that because they need the money" or "yoh, I would never". How dare they?! These women do not know how to treat patients and should never work with patients who can actually hear. So disgusting. Those women need to focus on upskilling their bedside manner and learning how to treat the mentally ill rather than applying too much makeup and horrible eyebrows.
I went to LWH last Thursday night, I am a private patient, with no medical aid. I was made aware of the fees, and I agreed to that, I paid R1300 for x-rays, before they took them. Which was no problem for me. I had a drip and was given some meds through the drip. After everything, I went to pay and asked what the full outstanding amount would be. That was R2800, which I also paid immediately. Come 4 days later I receive a statement from Lancet with an outstanding amount of R1400 for blood tests done??? This was not even mentioned to me, I had no idea that I even had to pay that. I would have been fine if it was communicated to me, 4 days prior. How is this even possible? The communication regarding this is absolutely disgraceful. When I asked what the FULL amount outstanding is, so that I can know and pay, Lancet was not even mentioned. Quite a shock when you receive a outstanding statement out of nowhere, 4 days later! Communication needs to improve loads! And to top it off, when I paid I did not receive a statement of what was paid, because their system was off. I received an email the next day with a tax invoice with just the amount paid, that is it. No breakdown at all.
My husband went in for a very infected abcess. I took him to the ER and they attended to him very quickly and the nurses were kind and helpful (thankfully it wasn't busy) but the good service soon ended there. The nurses in section 6, (except one lovely lady by the name of Khanyisile - give that lady a raise!) were absolutely useless, sorry to say. My husband had to press the nurse button multiple times, they would leave him in pain for hours, and during one visiting hour I had to go and talk to them at the desk Four times before one guy fetched a nurse to give my husband painkillers. This is a hospital, do your nurses know that? Because they were having a fat party at the desk while my husband (and others who were probably in even worse pain) just lay in bed without assistance. He has basically had to dress his own wound, clean himself multiple times. Like, what are your nurses paid for? Can't believe the incredible lack of compassion and help. I know they're busy (and I know they're tired so we aren't expecting someone bright and cherry) but they weren't even slightly kind. Do better before you lose patients due to your incompetence!
Had to go to the emergency unit. Had the most terrible experience with the attending nurse there, rude, loud and most unprofessional, treated me like he was doing me a favour just allowing me to be there, when I told him to speak to me in a proper manner, he went into the observation room and started discussing me with someone else in there, eventually when it was my turn , my daughter told him that she is worried that my pressure was so high and that him screaming and shouting was not helping...he said he is a loud person and cannot speak softly. Then I had to have bloods, the lady who came, said she is looking to take bloods for the "lady near the window", She took my bloods without using gloves on her hands. I had to ask her to sterilize my hand. It Would be Beneficial to this hospital to Train their staff in Medical Ethics AND DEFINITELY HOW TO TREAT PATIENTS WITH RESPECT.AS THIS IS A PAID SERVICE AND NOT CHARITY. DO NIT PUCK AND CHOOSE WHO TO BE POLITE AND COURTEOUS TO....ITS PEOPLE'S HEALTH AND PEACE IF MIND YOU DEALING WITH...GET RID OF THE LOUD AND ARROGANT STAFF WHO ACT LIKE THEY OWN THE HOSPITAL
What an utter disgrace for a private hospital. I've been to government hospitals that are better than this place. We rushed to the ER in the middle of night with our sick infant who was turning blue. When we walked through the door there was no one at reception. And instead of having a look at my child and allowing my husband to attend to the forms they made us both sit in the waiting area. When we were shown to a bed the nurse was rude and had the audacity to shout at me for closing my child in a blanket. There was one nurse who took over after shift change, Gladness, she was incredibly helpful and nice. You need more nurses like her. Don't get me started on the doctor when he arrived he asked a bunch of unnecessary questions and after running blood tests he could barely explain in English what was wrong with our child. He kept saw us the blood test saying "look here it's its too high" only he knew what exactly he was referring to. Honestly this hospital is disgusting and highly disappointing considering they want a grand for you just to walk through the door. I don't recommend this hospital!
My father was admitted on 18 November with breathing difficulties. His casualty experience was the only decent experience of his entire 4 day stay. I asked his attending doctor (Dr Chen) to call me MULTIPLE times regarding his condition and I never received a single call or response from her in the entire time that he was there. I was completely in the dark and all I asked was for a call to give me some feedback on what tests they were running and how long he would be in hospital for. When I visited him, he was confused, scared and full of bandages from all the tests he was put through. My brother received a call from Dr Chen AFTER my father was discharged and was very vague in the treatment of my father. I left my cell phone number with Dr Chen's reception and was told MULTIPLE times that she would call me after her consults. The nurses attending to my father just kept telling me that the doctor has to call me to let me know what is happening. NEVER will I send my father to this hospital again.
i am resident of Weltevreden park. Myself an Family have being using Life Wilgeheuwel hospital ever since we have being living in Weltervreden , however I extremely disgusted and shocked at the treatment i received on the morning of the 6th July 2022 around 1am when i was rushed to Wilgeheuwel in an ambulance (due to me suffering from a seizure and hitting my head and needed stitches on my chin) in to casualty only to be turned away by the doctor on call , the ambulance had to then rush me to Milpark hospital for treatment. She did not even bother to check me at all. It could not have being related to shortage of beds because there were plenty of beds as i have being multiple time in to Wilgeheuwel this year; It could not have being my medical aid as i am on Discovery and on a plan accepted in any private hospital. What oath does Wilgeheuwel doctors stand by to turn away patients. Clearly this means me and my family are no longer accepted at this hospital.
Incredible experience visiting the Wilgeheuwel hospital under unfortunate circumstances. Thank you ALL staff on call on Saturday, including the very friendly and efficient Mr Tshepho Hlongoane, thank you sir for your professional service. We arrived just after 12pm and received IMMIDIATE assistance by the nursing staff on call that afternoon. The lovely Dr Khatu was not only friend but had the most professional beside manner when attending to my very nervous daughter head wound, thank you for your going over and above to help make my daughter feel comfortable. My daughter was admitted at 13h00 and discharged by 15h00. All round one of the best emergency ward experience I've EVER had the pleasure of experiencing. The professional care experienced at Wilgeheuwel as incredibly, keep up the good work! I don't live in the area, but in future will be driving to this hospital if I every need private hospital care - private hospital care at its finest.
Let me try to explain you guys what happened !!!!!!!!! 27 August 20:15 we went to the ER because my husband is in torments pain !!!!! Because he as a stent and kidney stones in his right kidney , We KNOW about it because he went for operation a few days because. We go there and each and every doctor says , noo its normal with pain like you have because they were working on the kidney. Today 2 September 01:27 we back , he is a fever of 39.6 , and we KNOW for SURE its infection , because we've been down this same road 3 months ago. How can doctors says its normal ?? Who is going to keep paying thia medical bills because of doctors wrong diagnosis !!!!!!! I really HOPE this hospital can come back to us !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next time listen we a patient says he is in pain !!!!! dO TEST !!!!!! Don't just assume it's NORMAL!!!!
My father is at Wligeheuwel hospital at the moment. He is an old man and has had a major operation. He cannot reach his sanitary goods, such as toothbrush/toothpaste, cannot get into his bedside drawer, cannot get up to go to the bathroom quickly. Staff are not checking up that he can accomplish the basics of sanitary activities. He was given a disgusting meal, which he did not order, and could not eat. He is depressed, feeling completely useless and at the same time helpless. It is of my opinion that nursing staff should be paying extra attention to people like him, because he is very old and has had a very traumatic experience leading up to his hospital stay. Or are old people not worth all the effort? I am very unimpressed. I would give a half star if I could. The orthopedic surgeon was superb, though.
Horrible with how the nursing staff night treatment and some of the day ones as well I had to get off my bed numerous time to empty my vomit try and when I pressed the button 5 times and when I asked to bring my wife tho after looking at my aria they didn't I had to tell her just come and where to go they completely ignored her and when I was so sick they said oh no nuthing rong go home Meen time I was shaking and on a mask I had to go to a real doctor to find out I had lemonia I went 2 in 2 days for them to tell me no ur fine and when I ask them to a lamdar test they didn't if they just did it they would have seen I will never go to this hospital to stay over night ever again the doc and 2 nurses were nice that's all the rest were stripy or just plain just oh do we have to do anything or look after u
My Husband and I were at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital quite early in the morning for a day admission. From the admission staff to the nurses on duty , they all were amazing and had such an awesome attitude. They made us really feel welcome and comfortable in a hospital to say the least. I was very impressed by the mannerism of all staff, even while walking down the corridor the staff that we passed smiled and greeted us. We were really impressed at the outstanding service received. Well done to the Hospital Manager and Staff of Life Wilgeheuwel for running such a great establishment. It's these small acts of kindness that makes the daunting trip to a hospital much easier. God forbid, if we ever need to be in hospital again, I would definitely choose Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital.
Good day The staff awesome event except. Only when I was able to speak to my husband in the normal ward was I Aware that R1000 was taken out of my wallet and my phone charger taken, I'm at loss for words and will make sure everyone I know is made aware of what has happened. I'm seriously passed disappointment.when I was in you ward the previous time I logged a complaint with the head nurse as one of the nurses was extremely rude and told me she doesn't get paid to stay outside while I have a smoke when I told the head urese the nurse that was rude to me said she never said that, I asked why would I lie and say that she is the one that said it. One thing is I will not consider going back do to the stealing and rudeness
Words cannot describe how blessed we are to have received the care of the Dr and nursing staff at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital. Our little one was born a bit sooner than expected and the nursing staff at the PICU unit made us feel at ease and took such good care of our little boy. We could go to bed at night knowing that he is in the best hands! We owe Sister Sinini and her nursing staff a lot! I do not know how to say thank you to them as they saved his life and gave him so much love. Thank you Sister Sinini and your entire team, we appreciate everything you have done for our family. You are simply the best and do wonderful work. We already miss our new found family. Love, Rynhardt, Tara and baby Kaiden
My father was booked in for an operation , at The rates you charge per night you would think that you would at least have ice , when in 24 that was all he could have . I had to run around the hospital trying to get any ward to give me a piece of ice as his mouth was so dry , eventually went and bought two cups of ice from the cafe area . Staff should be trained to be more help full patients are paying their wages , and as for the superior staff they have an authority issue especially in ward 6 , training is definitely very necessary . The sad thing is I realize we do not have many options to go to , but seriously think again after charging so much per patient
They describe themselves as a ‘world class facility’ but i have seen government hospitals in better conditions and provide better service. Should not even be called a private hospital. Horrible experience and stay in this facility. My wife felt completely degraded and upset at how the maternity ward was run. Actually cried to be discharged. Not even privacy to breastfeed in a private ward. Also if you expect a relaxing or atleast some quiet to recover after child birth, look at a better hospital. Otherwise be prepared for screaming nurses, drilling in the wards and unruly maintenance staff.
Please can you tell me why you would turn a perfectly good building into a rabbit warren. Then not put up visible signs for direction. The physio building sign should be at the top of the building not hidden under the portico. Most patients requiring physio cannot walk from one end of the building or parking lot to the other. No drop off zone. The parking near the doors all resricted to workers. Surely the patients should be a priority as they pay for care. The supposed golf cart cannot go in the building and is mostly parked in the shade at the main entrance so no use in the parking lot
By far the WORST HOSPITAL EVER . The nurses are rude as well as some of the doctors admitted to you They lack empathy so much and they are unprofessional You’ll be in desperate pain for hours and they won’t do anything This place is really bad guys They take a whole amount of your blood and then they don’t treat you They can watch you die in this hospital I’ve seen it in front of me They don’t care You should choose if you want to be a private or public hospital, honestly I don’t recommend coming here ,Save yourself Public hospitals are even way better than this nonsense of a place
This is a Review that's been a long time in coming. A few months back, I was rushed to Wilgeheuwel Hospital with a burst appendix. My entire abdomen was filled with Gangrenous fluid and emergency surgery was performed. Thereafter, it was an uphill battle with round the clock nurses, sisters and Drs. keeping me alive. It was the longest 10 days of my life. My eternal gratitude goes to my Surgeon Dr. Pieter Swart and the entire Nursing Staff of Ward 6, all 35 of them for their outstanding service and for ultimately saving my life, all done with genuine concern and compassion.
The nurses have a don't care attitude, and one of them was very rude to me. IN ICU ONE OF THE Nurses took the electric plug and throw it over my head to plug it into the wall she was very aggressive when I've ask for 'n pan and hurt me in the process to help me. It was reported to the hospitals management. I'm sure that the provincial hospitals has better treatment like this. It was very noisy in the general ward, they don't give your medicine On time, it's like you can wait for them. The saddest part is my medical fund must pay the highest rate for this poor hospital service.
Dr Russ operated on my husband on Tuesday. My husband was bleeding excessively but was still discharges on Thursday. Saturday we called the Dr Russ emergency rooms 3 times and the lady said he would call us, we told her its an emergency but he never bothered to call back. We went to casualty where they assisted my husband. ThebDoctor on duty said he should not have been bleeding like that. DR russ did something wrong and we not leaving it. The fact that he didnt call us back even though we said its an emergency us very bad and we will be reporting it. Bad service
My wife injured her ancle on the 10th of April 2023 and we had to go to Wilgeheuwel Hospital. On arrival at casualties we were informed that the systems was off. I paid the fees out of my pocket and was promised that they will e-mail me the invoices within 3 days, so that I can claim back from my medical aid. Its been 22 days later and still do not have an invoice. I have queried it a few times and the same empty promises. To be honest seeing the google rating is a bit of a concern that discovery will associate with a service provider with such a poor rating.
I am currently at the hospital, my 7 year old got admitted into the high care unit, I am really disappointed at the fact that I am staying at the hospital with her however they only cater her with meals and I have to buy cash, it would have been better if I was at least told this upon admission, so that I can make sure I have money on me as I live far away from the hospital. Really disappointed as other hospitals I have been to when my children are admitted I am included in the daily meals as I can't leave a minor alone.
Oh wow where do I start All the staff I had encounters with in maternity ward Section 3 were exceptionally good, great service and bedside manner From Dr ND Gumata to my male anaesthetic Dr Qabe (excuse the spelling) to the sisters and nurses Patricia,Lorraine, blessing to name a few, sorry if i left out some..Dr Erasmus etc Give them a raise they have outdone themselves ensuring I'm comfortable with no pain Hope to see them soon when I give birth :) Not forgetting the chef.lovely food and service. 100/100
Very good hospital with awesome staff. The xray department were amazing. The ladies doing my scans/sonar were great and actually held my hand through the scary process. I went straight from scans to prepping for threatre. Admission process with front office staff, assistance with medical aid authorisation, covid test, ward staff and nurses were just caring and great. Theatre staff, doctors and after care was very good. Altogether, it helps to have kind, caring people at the scariest of times. Thank you.
Absolutely horrendous experience there. Poorly trained doctors that misdiagnosed my 10 month old. She landed up admitted with a deadly virus and the ER doctor sent us home saying she is teething and nothing is wrong. Would definitely not recommend anybody to go to the ER here at Wilgehwuwel. Some Doctors there , specifically one clearly don't know what they are doing and either just trained out of medical school or couldn't care about saving lives.
I spent a few nights with my baby in the children's ward. The nurses were really caring towards my baby and very sweet and compassionate towards me. They are very knowledgeable and professional, and answer all the questions of a worried mommy. The food is really nice, with many options! I have also gave birth to both my babies at the hospital with good experiences, and many times we have used the emergency room where they attend to us very quickly and with great care.
Got to the hospital after an accident, all the general staff was great including nurses and assistants. My problem is with the doctor, that man didn’t show any care and concern, I think he forgot me at some point. It doesn’t end there, the man didn’t book me for any days off to heal and recuperate, the nurse even tried to get him to correct this but he shrugged him off. The accident really messed with my emotions, the last thing I needed was a doctor who didn’t care
Absolutely and utterly shocked at the ‘care’ by the ICU nursing staff. My sister was shoved out of ICU into ward 7 where she was not monitored properly after serious surgery and eventually placed back into high care. Nurses didn’t bother to measure urine output which was extremely low but only picked up 4 days Post surgery! Would not recommend this hospital, especially ICU to anyone. So upsetting and disappointing for a private hospital. Get your act together.
On the 19th of December at midnight we rushed our 4 year old to emergency services at Wilgeheuvel Hospital. The treatment she received was excellent from the team of nurses at arrival to Dr MS Ramgovind and nurse Vuyo who treated her. They were gentle, caring and thorough. From blood tests to xrays my child didn't shed a tear. A huge thank you to the team that treated my daughter at this hospital. Thanks to you she's her road to recovery has been really quick.
Had to go to A&E and besides being in excruciating pain from a broken rib, the actual experience was great. My nurse was Kenny and I think another lady named Virginia. They were friendly and kept me updated on everything that was happening and their general bedside manner was great. My doctor was Dr Ramsay and she was kind and patient and generally just caring. Just generally all of the staff made an awful experience bearable. Thank you to all of you.
The professionalism of this hospital handling complaints is exceptionally poor. We had queried a bill for emergency services on 20 October 2022 and to date there has been no resolution. The secretary had responded stating the complaint has been escalated but it seems like whoever is in charge does not take complaints seriously and prefers to drag issues out creating further frustration. Great work on creating a good patient/customer experience!
I have visited the emergency unit the 10th April 2023 to date I am struggling to get a report back from the doctor my medical aid request from the hospital to handle my claim we had to pay cash because the hospital systems were down. I was given a moon boot and was told wear it for 6 to 8 weeks I have requested what must happen after this period also no one have come back to me. I guess I must rely now on doctor google now.
In my entire life i have never been soo impressed and treated like a Human being by DR Lorrisa Julyan. That Dr is the Best. After we have been chased away from Life X hospital,Dr Lorrisa welcomed us warmly and treated us in a very proffesional and helpfull manner.we were soo confused and vulnerable but after she treated us and discharge us we felt like human beings again.May God continue to Bless DR Lorrisa Julyan.
The hospital has grown very busy in the past few years and it feels like it cannot keep with demand. This could be due to the increasing development of complexes in the Wilgeheuwel, Honeydew, Radiokop area. The hospital itself does not seem to follow a logical layout anymore either and can be a maze to navigate. Communication from the staff can be disappointing too when you loved ones are in the hospital.
My son was in ICU for 4 days. The staff there were not all that helpful or friendly at all. During covid the hospital only allows 1 visitor per day, the least that should be done is to ensure there is network, and cell phone reception so families can stay in touch. Doctors were great. Nurses at the normal ward were great. Since ICU is a high care ward you expect more from that department.
From before I walked through the doors, I felt so welcome. The reception staff were so very friendly and warm and helpful. The medical staff in Ward 5 were all so kind and caring. Dr Dulabh took very good care of me in theatre as well as at the check-in after the procedure. 5 stars, Wilgeheuwel, to all the staff! Thank you so much for the passion you have for your calling. It shows.
This cannot be happening With an injured knee been told to go back because I don't have an appointment for an Ultra sound. Casualty just removed my bandage so that they could do sonar. So at this point I'm casualty's patient BUT I have to make an appointment Yet no one mentioned any of that story to me on Saturdsy. I am extremely disgusted they do not care at all about
Currently in high care. There is an old lady right next to me shouting for help. I don't think she aware of where she is. This cry for help is nonstop. Moaning and complaining constantly... the nurses have turned a deaf ear to this. I cannot sleep. It's Currently around 00.18. I'm ready to walk out this place. Not sure what else the staff can do. I'm beyond exhausted.
Emergency room nurses and doctors are not up to standard for a private hospital. Took 4 different machines to take my blood pressure. Then the nurse didn't have a piece of paper to write the results on so wrote them on a tissue. Asked them 3 times for a cup of water before I actually got one and the doctor had a very. Doctor had a very laid-back bedside manner.
We recently moved from alberton to krugersdorp. Crazy the difference in treatment you get. Before i even filled in the paperwork they assisted my wife who was in alot of pain. Paperwork was quick and easy and reception staff was very helpfull. Made us laugh which took her mind off some of the pain. Constant updates as well. Very efficient. Well done guys.
I found this to be the best hospital ever i was involved in an accident and on my arrival the care I received amazing from almost all the staff. there was this professional nurse called Thando, she is short, a bit plummpy and pretty at the trauma unit. Wow, Extremely caring, goes out of her way to make her patients comfortable. May God bless her.
My daughter went in for surgery on the 30th March 2023. The service received at Life Wilgeheuwel hospital was outstanding right from admission to discharge. The doctors and nursing staff were friendly, informative and always on hand to assist. They turned a stressful situation into a comfortable experience. Will highly recommend this hospital.
It was the best experience for me. I took a very ill patient and got helped right away ... the staff worked fast and accurately and saved my friends life with extreme professionalism. Thanks to all staff at the emergency unit. Even the admin staff was very efficient. Thanks to all staff and admin staff . You are all greatly appreciated.
The ER at this hospital is great, but after my experience in the paeds ward with my sick child I will never set foot in any part of the hospital again and I will be laying an official complaint. I had to leave and go to my GP to get my child properly treated after 2 nights in the hospital. GP had her eating in 30 mins with one pill
Was at ER yesterday. Service was superb. Thanks to everyone, from ER admin, to all the nursing staff and X-Ray department. Sorry I didn't get all your names. A special thanks to Dr Elliott who is so kind, despite being very busy, she was spot on with her diagnosis and most friendly and compassionate. Keep up the great work.
Exceptional welcome, treatment and service under stressful and emotional times. Hospital is well planned out and clean. From start to finish, wonderful experience from both ER Ryan, Dr. JULY, Dr Holz and Ward 5 and 6 staff, porter Takalani and pharmacists with sense of humor, thank you. We appreciate you all tremendously!
My son was treated for gastro. Hospital is understaffed and Day nurses are incompetent. None of available staff were able to successfully put on a drip for a 2 year old. Constantly have to chase down nurses for feedback or remind them to do their jobs. Absolutely wouldn't recommend this hospitals paediatric department.
I would like to applaud your lady on the switchboard, Lelani, for absolutely great service. I have had a few operations at Wilgeheuwel in the past year and called the hospital on various occasions, always finding a friendly, efficient and patient reception from Lelani. Well done to her! She should be proud of herself!
The Casualty Department at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital was outstanding! We were there on Sunday 23 January 2022 in the morning, as my husband had chest pain. All the staff from the Reception, to the nurses and doctors were excellent, professional and very caring. Thank you so much for your outstanding service!
I gave a 1 star. Because your hospital pushes claims through my medical aid. But have no courtesy to call me, and provide the report on the brain and heart tests. Very unprofessional and a money making healthcare centre. I will pass the experience to my network. And will refrain from your hospital entirely.
Well, there’s one thing I can say about this…. I was born here…. So I guess that means it’s a 5 star! My mom had a good experience and I lived to review this! So I mine as well not have anything else to live for! I have made full circle I also lived to take this beautiful picture! What a blessing
I took my daughter to wilgehuiwel hospital because i thought there was something wrong with her. The Dr ( sorry i don't know her name) was absolutely fantastic did blood work on my daughter and within a hour we has the blood work back. The Dr and nurses were so kind and patient.
Worst hospital experience ever. We can hurry up and wait, no problem, but the lack on information and skilled staff is shocking. A big thank you to only 1 ICU nurse that had exceptional knowledge and cared enough to explain everything. Again, worst run hospital in Johannesburg!
Good service but the waiting area at reception needs to be extended, not enough seating. Great service from sister Tebogo at Nana 2. We had to wait for the people to be called out for pre admission before we could have a seat early in the morning. Please manage this properly
I only have good things to say from my surgery stay at Wilgeheuwel. The nurses in both high care and ward 7 were amazing and super friendly. They looked after my every need and the food was also very good. Also if you need a nureosurgeon then definitely recommend Dr Botha.
Disgusted, 1. We get there and told park at the parking and I have a disability. My mom took me up in the car to the drop off zone as I have a disability and need a wheelchair. . There's no porters. The wheelchairs are broken. There's no one to open the disability parking
Adri Botes, the hospital manager is the worst human being you can ever meet. It is disgusting how she treats staff members. And somehow she continues to get away with this behavior. I guess Adri Botes figured out that there are benefits to giving BJs at head office
I went to casualties on Friday the 3rd of Feb, with a sore left arm. I left with both my arms being sore after they bruised and hurt my right arm as well. The nurses there shouldn’t be allowed to touch patients as they are negligent. Don’t go to that hospital.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances of my daughter's ankle injury, the visit here made it all worthwhile. The service, the care, the speed with which we were processed and the follow-up after we had left was top-notch!! Keep up the good standards!!
Amazing service from the doctors and nurses at Life Wilgeheuwel emergency department. Went there on the 25th of December for an ankle evulsion fracture. Even though it was on Christmas, they were exceptionally friendly and professional at all times.
I have been asking for a statement since June to see what outstanding fees I have to settle. Even after making a payment I did not receive an updated statement reflecting the payment. The only communication I received regarding outstanding
As a hospital, do you not think you are taking the poppia act to far. Tried to find out if a relative is still in hospital before i drive that far. Was told they can't give that information. Please...... The rest of South Africa is selling
I delivered my baby at Wilgeheuwel Life hospital and what an amazing and memorable experience. From the admission process to discharge was a breeze. The staff in the Maternity ward was amazing, I must have buzzed them to come to my room a
Deteriorated to way sub standard quality of service and professionalism. What used to be an excellent hospital has turned to be a shadow of former self. Nurses are consistently on gossip. People's blood results are shouted at the passages.
I really can not complain about the quality of care a person receives while in ICU or High Care. The staff are absolutely amazing and take pride in their work. But move to general .... then it becomes something completely different. The
I have had the misfortune of having to take my daughter of 5 years old there this evening with a severe trauma to her throat. The staff were amazing. They treated us with compassion and efficiency that is top notch. She needed to go to
The great service starts at ER & ends there. I had a fantastic surgeon, unfortunately most of the Section 6 and 7 nurses drop the ball on many levels. Most of other reviews here are along the same lines. You are at your most vulnerable
This Hospital and the Specialist Dr’s who treated my husband were SHOCKING. Admitted for X, No Visiting Allowed because of Covid. He Dies from Hospital Superbug!! In that time period 3 people including him died from that. I would not
This hospital is world class. Fantastic staff that cares about their patients. Super clean and hygienic. Going to hospital is not a positive experience, going to Wilgeheuwel makes it so much easier! Special thanks to maternity ward!
Can never be thankful enough for the kind of treatment i recieved at the matternity ward in this hospital . The stuff was super friendly and very helpful from the nurses to the kitchen ladies . Sister khanyisile is the best ever.
A very clean and well taken of hospital with almost all health facilities and departments you can think off and the staff is very friendly. There's a Cafe inside the hospital, visiting hours are between 3pm and 4 also 7pm to 8
My wife had a burst appendix, from the time I brought her in to casualty to the time she left 9 days later was really a great experience. The nurses and doctors were on a world class level will definitely recommend.
Dr Sonja Kotze, Nurse Buza and the rest of the attending nurses in the ER today were absolutely fabulous! Professional, understanding, patient....brilliant bedside manner. I'm deeply grateful and happy. Thank you!!
I'll be honest I've had a few bad experiences at this hospital but a welcome change this last week.. Must pass on my gratitude for Ms "phi phi". ( maternity section) for great friendly help and service..
Incredible casualty unit! Friendly, efficient and cannot help enough. No one wants to end up in a hospital, and I can honestly say that they are wonderful and make it as pleasant as possible! Huge kudos
The Staff are amazing. The admin side is also very organized. Wouldn't mind to be admitted here all the time!! WHEN necessary. Thank you everybody who made my stay pleasant and who took care of me!!
My friend was admitted late Sunday night. The staff were helpful and reacted immediately. Since then every experience with staff has been positive, regardsless of position, from cleaners to doctors.
I am in your reception area waiting for a patient. Your frontline staff are amazing. The receptionists are so friendly. The porters are just as amazing. Well done, you are doing something right.
I experienced nothing short of world class . The treatment and service and food and comfort was brilliant. It made my stay in the hospital an exceptional one. Thank you to doctors and staff
I've been admitted to a few hospitals before but never received this exceedingly amazing service. Maureen in Section 6 is truly a blessing. Thank you Dr P Swart and the rest of the staff.
Went in for an emergency, was treated professionally and quickly. Spent 5 days in total, staff was friendly and assisted were ever they could. Food was really great …
My daughter got admitted to Wilgeheuwel hospital. Appendix removed by Dr Booyse and Dr Garrett. I give both doctors and Sec 6 staff 5 star rating. You guys are awesome
Staff treat their patients, and each other well. There were some lengthy delays, but once you get service, it is excellent. Hospital food surprisingly good
The hospital is great. Doctors can be distant and nurses noisy but helpful. The reception counter had other staff hanging around laughing and interrupting.
The best experience! Had my baby in August 2022, and the staff is absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend this hospitals maternity ward.
Parking is an issue they are working on it but right now a problem. Otherwise great hospital and great service. Clean and comfortable.
Best maternity ward! Nurses are well experienced and welcoming, made for the best experience bringing our baby girl into the world.
Pediatrics, Dr Temi, and all the nurses, thanks! Gentle, supportive and helpful and took great care of my kiddo, keep it up:-)
1. Zero professionalism 2. No sense of urgency 3. Nurses fight for beds in front of patients Horrible experience
Excellent day on26th of August .food was excellent Dr were amazing goodie bag awesome wonderful day thank you
Emergency unit was well run. Friendly staff. Neat and clean facilities.
Excellent service my family and I got from them multiple times.
Always clean and neat, staff are friendly and helpful.
