Wildlife World OMG! Cor, where to begin! I looked on the website where it states £9.00 entry but it turns out it's £9.50. Not good but, let's get on. I am only reviewing wildlife World, I have no interest in the house or the cafe or anything else. The enclosures for the birds were In a generally awful state. There was a sign up saying we're not going to bother as the birds are nesting but I visited on 28th Aug, what birds are on the nest in west Yorkshire now? Other enclosures were just devoid of life. Check the picture, this used to be a pool overflowing with water fowl. There is nothing there now and look at the maintenance. Is this place closing? The Andean Condors have been evicted by a pair of Northern Pintails! The Cassowary has gone, those large ancient looking storks have gone, as has the ostrich. The Wallabies appear to have hopped off. Wherever you see water it's green and it stinks. I did enjoy seeing the silver faced hornbills though the female looked like she could do with a jolly and the Inca Terns were good. Even the penguins were full of can't be bothered ness. Since I last visited this place they have turned the engine's up to full blast and pointed towards the ground. For twice the price the Yorkshire Wildlife Park is twenty times better than this place. Perhaps the house is good?

Most of Lotherton Hall was very lovely. There was lots to do there, my kids and I and friend and her kids also enjoyed it. We were all excited about the zoo and letf that to be the last item for the day. So we got all set and made our way into the zoo, impressed at the amount o hand sanitiser and hand washing station greatful foe that. However for the life of me,could the owner of that establishment please do something about the habitat for those poor penguins. I mean in my living memory I cannot bring to recollection that these beautiful animals ever lives in such a deplorable murky algae filled offensive smelling sorry excuse for water. Then to top it off they put up disclaimer notes to their patrons explaining this live in this condition like that is suppose to put people's mind at ease as to why we should be ok about them living this way. I am surprised the animal rights society has not done something about this if I am in correct about this I stand corrected, the fact remains, people are concerned and disgusted about the state of the living situation of those birds and from the notices posted around that "habitat" means that people who visit there are concerned. Can someone please do something. LOTHERTON HALL OWNER PLEASE DOSOMETHING.

Such a disappointment and I'm hoping I can change my two star review soon. Sadly we arrived on the day the house was closed and part of the wildlife park was being re-done. We bought tickets in advance that had said the house would be open and that the wildlife park closed at 4pm (last entry at 3:15pm). Great a nice afternoon sorted.... But we were told at the gate that Mon and Tues 6-7 Nov23 the house was closed whilst they took down the Halloween decorations. This wasn't on the website. And as we paid tickets and we were being told this after the gate guard scanned our tickets we decided to go forwards and explore. Hopefully we can go back and look at the house. The little of the grounds we did see were nice and the deer in the autumn coloured fields were very nice

Great for toddlers, the older lady in the café is terrible. Fun time outdoors for kids, plenty of exotic and rare birds. Entered the café and while my wife was making up a bottle for our baby I was at the counter ordering food. Their coffee machine was broken so we ended up paying £6+ for a granulated coffee. As I was carrying food and drink back to the table the older café woman was at the table demanding that my baby shouldn't be eating outside food (it was raining). We tried to explain that a bottle for a baby is reasonable but before my wife could explain she told us to go somewhere else and marched off. We ignored her and fed our 9 month old anyway and ate our purchased food. The whole encounter left a bitter taste on the day. Otherwise excellent.

Disappointing as lots of work going on in bird garden, several areas at once but understand needs to be done as looking tired! Called at cafe for a drink, coffee machine broken, so had instant. Staff apologetic and helpful. Went back for early lunch to find queue right across courtyard. Went back 1 hour later, had a powercut so virtually no food selection, were making cold sandwiches to order. Fortunnately younger grandchildren had snacks with them! Won't deter me from going back as unfortunate circumstances?!

Lots of spooky fun for Halloween. There is so much to do here. Explore the house, play in the park, look at the birds, explore the grounds.. There are toilets and a cafe. I would suggest taking a picnic as the cafe queue does get very long!

Massively gone downhill sicne we last went. The water was disgusting full of algae couldnt hardly see the penguins in the water even the coats were stained green, you used 5i be able ti look through windows to sre under the water this was just coated in thick algae. All the grass was overgrown and unkept, the animals didnt look well cared for, the emu's looked distressed (feathers missing) I was so suprised and saddened by the decline of lotherton hall.

Many exotic birds in cages were in good order but noticed that the water in the pools looked green in colour but many cages were also empty - not sure why unless they were affected by the bird flu outbreak of course. Children enjoyed their time on the playgrounds but limited seating for adults to supervise them. Went into the house lower floor only as quite dark inside & noted lots of fairy lights in rooms - maybe a theme. Gardens had recently been replanted. There is a cafe but didn't use it. Toilets were very clean.

Lotherton Wildlife World is within the ground of Lotherton Hall, a hidden gem in Leeds. Great zoological collection with range of birds and mammals, including Humboldt penguins, Chilean Flamingo, Tapir, bats, and tamarins. The nocturnal area was one of my favourite parts. The animals are provided with naturalistic enclosures and demonstrate positive welfare signs. Would definitely recommend seeing for yourself!

  • Kirsty Watson

£10 per person is abit steep for what there is but its a lovely day out especially for little ones. Lots of play areas, cafe, animals and the house is actually good for kids too. Some toys and different dress up areas. Also there is toilet and cleaning facilities for disabled including hoist and bed, brilliant thought.

Lovely place for a walk with friends. You've seen a peacock before but a white one!! The only downside is you can get lost in the path within the wildlife garden. Could do with a recommended route sign or more sign posts to show where the exit is or the cafe etc.

Lots to see and do. The house was very interesting and the tour guides knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the park but thought some of the enclosures were a bit small but a varied selection of birds to look at. I would definitely visit again as it was value for money.

I was pretty shocked to see how unkept it was, in all honestly. Don’t get me wrong, the play park, field and trail was nice, neat and tidy but the sanctuary itself didn’t look very pleasant, the animals didn’t look very happy, in fact it looked pretty run down. We took a few pictures but I’ve got to say, even the children were not very impressed.

  • GeeTee

This is a great place for a Saturday or Sunday, wide open spaces for dogs, little kids have a dedicated play area & there's the Wildlife World which is very good, been a member for the last 12 years & seen it grow over the years, is definitely a 10/10

The “zoo” was one of the most depressing and cruel displays i have seen in the UK. The cages for the birds were small and depressing, with no space to fly and minimal activities. Seeing them in captivity like that left me sad and angry. If you care about animals at all I do not recommend visiting or contributing any money to this prison.

A great family day out with lots to see. It is worth a trip around the house as it has some amazing bits of furniture, a camel carved in 700, yep 1,300 years old. The bird park was fantastic, hornbills my fav, plus the Visayan Warty Pigs.

Paid £19 for 2 tickets, wildlife World waste of time, nothing much to see went in the house Most of it shut they had some sort of dog thing on what a waste of time, then went for lunch had a ploughman's half the plate had lettuce on poor cheese no pickle onions total cost over £25 will never go again

  • Patricia Webster

Its been a while since I visited. Plenty to see and do. The entrance fee covers the bird garden, the house and gardens. The bird garden could do with a tidy up. The house was lovely and well worth the visit.

A small well-run bird garden and zoo with some park spaces and a nice woodland walk an easy drive from Leeds. The house is interesting and the ornate gardens a pleasure to see and there’s a good cafe that serves great coffee and (tried it today) the best gluten free carrot cake I’ve had

Nice place for a stroll and chill out in the gardens. Kids enjoy the play area, woods and the Wildlife zone. But there are a few enclosures that are empty, potentially to do with bird flu and some areas are a little tired.

  • Roger Jewitt

The house has improved. The bird garden however has not. Many empty cages or closed off areas. Price has gone up considerably as well. Possibly getting a Leeds Card will reduce cost of entry. I still love the place though.

  • Chris Goldby
