Everone knows the Lakeshore campus. Buildings like Dunbach. Cudahee. Madonna Dela Estrada, the beautiful chapel. But the heart of Loyola? A Jesuit education. The Marines of Catholicism. Set a standard for excellence. Professors known internationally. Like Patrick J. Casey, who taught Irish Renaissance plays, poetry and literature. Very special man. "Oh c'mon. C'mon. I know somebody knows this." Brilliant. Inspired. Knew detail after detail of the Dublin of John Joyce. Yeats and Lady Gregory. Cu Chulainn. Made them so relevant, alive. Raised the bar for what it meant to be a teacher. Inspired you to research, memorize, synthesize. That's what makes professors great. They inspire you to learn. Actively not passively. Like Thomas Kaminski, also in the dept of English. Exacting.18th century Lit. Made it relevant for that time. Critical when he saw you did not work up to your capabilities. Praised when you reached beyond. Came to the graduation of a student who everyone else initially thought would never succeed. Dr Michael Masi. Taught Chaucer like no one else. Word by word. Painful but rewarding. Even Jeffrey Harder, who could get past talking about Danny Ortega to teach film criticism well. Absolutely rich, meaningful, great education. You can skim by, get C's, or benefit from professors who care more about teaching than their salaries. Did not just sit around & lead time-consuming discussion groups. Actually Taught. Loyola. Beautiful Lakefront campus. Great education. Go Ramblers.

Warning. I work for Loyola and making this review highly suspect. The university has grown in student numbers, numbers of program, student achievement and service to the city of Chicago. What makes Loyola stand out from others is the unapologetic mission of the school. We strive to become a person for others. We believe in strong academics, unwavering integrity and we believe in helping others. When students graduate from Loyola there is an expectation they will remember they are truly privileged people and that they have an obligation to find ways to assist others. It's a Jesuit university, but being Catholic is not a requirement for entrance. In fact more than half of the students attending Loyola are not Catholic. Loyola is the only college basketball team to have won a national championship and that was back in 1963. The program has been dormant for the most part since then. That is until last year when Loyola was the Cinderella team of the NCAA Tournament and the darling of international media thanks in large part to Sister Jean, the teams spiritual leader. A bona fide firecracker, Sister Jean took America, Africa and European media by storm during the tournament. The fairy tale season took the Ramblers to the Final Four where they lost to a very good Michigan team.

Attending Loyola is my biggest regret in life. The campus is small and isolated. Sure it’s in “Chicago”, but you need to travel 45 minutes via metro to be in the city. The lack of sports teams, fraternities, a party scene, really make Loyola not feel like a university. You will not get the college experience here at all. Most students are extreme leftist, meaning no diversity in thought and you’re attacked if you disagree. Very little extracurricular options so it’s hard to even build friendships. Loyola also is a pretty small school, meaning it holds very little weight outside of Chicago. Overall, I wish I had gone to a school where I would have gotten the “college experience” and would receive name recognition outside of the failing city it’s located in. Great school for graduate school and people who are sticking in Chicago. However I wish I could go back and go to someplace 100% different

I am a current undergrad student at Loyola, and I only have positive things to say about it so far. I feel I am receiving an excellent and well rounded education while also keeping socially active. There is always something to do since the campus is within such a close proximity to the city. Getting downtown is easy (and free), thanks to the CTA and the intercampus shuttles. Also, the Lake Shore Campus is beautiful and has some nice views of Lake Michigan. The Water Tower campus is beautiful too, and has some new buildings that are located just a block away from Michigan Avenue. Overall, I am very happy that I chose Loyola. I feel it is preparing me for the future and allowing me to meet great people along the way. I can't wait to return in the fall!

Grossest i have ever experienced being a long time client of air b&b ... faucets leaking elevator looked like you at crack building no lie, shades missing windows unable to open, no light in the bedroom had to use a standing lamp which also didnt switch cause switch was broken instead needed to plug in, also the electric ports not working literally spit your plug back out would stay in and some electric ports missing, bathroom mirrors no hadles seems they was glued on at that they was no even the same look. Didnt even lay down I rented for 2 nites i left to a cheaper motel better way facility right after checking in was grossed out even the smell gave me a headache parking sucked on top of it all.

The campus is a perfect blend of beauty and convenience. The surroundings are pleasant and well-maintained, making it an ideal place for students to study and relax. Its proximity to Chicago downtown is a great advantage, allowing students easy access to the city's vibrant culture and entertainment. Being close to Lake Michigan not only adds to its scenic charm but also provides opportunities for recreational activities. Additionally, the availability of public transportation in the vicinity makes commuting hassle-free. Overall, I would highly recommend this campus to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient academic life

Proud to be an LUC Alum. The campus, especially with the new renovations, looks great and is nestled right up against Lake Michigan. You can't argue against the beautiful views as you look out from the Information Commons or walking along the lake. LUC has a very diverse student body and it makes for an excellent education, both inside and outside of the classroom. While athletics aren't the primary focus at Loyola Chicago, they still boast a solid enough D-1 program to bring excitement to the university. If you're looking for a school in Chicago, LUC is the place to be!

Not a good value for the money, not a safe campus, poor student experience in dorms, false information given to entice families to sign on but once there support promised is not given, unethical handling of complaints (i,e, personal e-mails not responded to but sent around to other employees without permission). Meal plan absurdly overpriced. Campus housing absurdly overpriced. Tuition and fees absurdly overpriced. Poorly run. However, there are some dedicated professors and employees who are trying their best within a poorly run institution. Thank you to them.

I was very disgusted to see antisemitic messaging at Loyola College Chicago. Not only will I never send my college aged sons there and never donate, I will always remember that these student at this college are either poorly educated or morally defunct. To appose our only true allie in the middle east is ill advised and shows a true lack of understanding for history and the current struggle against IS,ISIS and ISIL. At this time why is there no out cry against those who are slaughtering Christians in the middle east and Africa? I am truly very disappointed.

This review is for Loyola's admission advisor, Tyler D. It has been over ten years since I completed my BS and Tyler has been so helpful and understanding in providing the tools to figure out the steps needed for me to be able to attend Loyola and apply to its nursing program. Although I ultimately decided on a different school for nursing due to affordability, Tyler has been the only admission advisor I encountered that really made the experience personable and welcoming.

i am a recent graduate from loyola and overall it was a very fulfilling and enlightening experience. my eyes were opened to many concepts i didn't know prior. they also have an extensive study abroad program with sister schools in rome, beijing and now vietnam. it's definitely a good idea to get involved with clubs and organizations to make the most of your experience. people are friendly, it's a nice close community and the education was rigurous.

  • Jasmine

Most of these reviews are about how beautiful the campus looks and nothing more. I asked for for info regarding the ABSN program. Carolina Rodriguez called me and then emailed me to send over my transcripts. I emailed her twice and never heard back from her again. I do not like schools that do that to students trying to better themselves. I will be applying to other schools and do not recommend the Nursing department.

  • Xavier Armanno

I can't overstate how amazing the University, faculty, and staff are. Regardless if you take course along the lake, downtown, at one of the other campuses, or overseas at their sister locations, there is nothing quite like the education you receive at Loyola. The student body is extremely diverse and welcoming, and the caliber of the education is rare in it's high standards, ethical expectations, and challenge.

  • Lenora Brown

Awesome, beautiful campus. Great place for post graduate degree in Education of Masters or better. Diverse student population with access to the city-at-large. Great University experience without the college-town vibe. Superb access to public transportation. However, this is one of the more costly Universities in the city/state/country so do your research if you're counting your dollars...and who isn't?

  • Prerak Patel

The campus is really nice and enormous! They have one of the greatest libraries I have ever seen! The campus police force is always alert and active! Safety and protection are at its peak! Over all this, they have excellent faculty of staff members who share knowledge with their outstanding skills! The university is famous for its medical field.! Hope you like the campus while visiting!

  • Tyler Gilbert

Save yourself the money and do not attend this school. For a school that prides itself on being for the students they sure do not show it. I’ve never attended a school that pushes so against another persons academic success. Not to mention the amount of misinformation the financial aid office gives off. They would rather a struggling student go bankrupt than to attend school.

  • madams828

My daughter and I visited Loyola a few months ago. On the tour, little mention of academics; however, diversity, equity and inclusion were top priorities. The presentation and tour guides mentioned "people of color" about 20 times; touting "60% of our students identify as people of color". Seems like color, or "identified color", is the core curriculum here. Woke.

Loyola University Chicago is a fantastic place to get an education. Loyola's community is very supportive, accepting, and diverse. LUC has amazing professors who take a real interest in the students and help foster an excellent learning environment. Loyola's study abroad programs are second to none. The education that you receive at Loyola can take you anywhere.

It has a great library with long open hours, from 7:30 am to 12 am! In fact, I wanted to use the Loyola un library for self study, but I couldn't because I needed a loyola ID card to enter the library. Therefore only saw the campus and open space of the university. This place is very beautiful, by the lake with classic and modern building and ...

  • H Stoller

I am currently an undergrad student and I have nothing but good things to say about Loyola! I love the location and how helpful everyone is. Although pricey, they do have so many activities that students can take advantage of to better their education like a writing center, career center, 24/7 librarian help, and numerous fitness classes.

  • Daniel Ponce

Amazing school! You not only get a great Jesuit education and a beautiful campus. The athletics department is on the rise and will soon rival every mid-major in the country. Not only do you get to go to school at a great campus (the Pepperdine of the Midwest), but you also get to live in one of the best cities in the world! GO RAMBLERS!

  • Joe Westrich

I received an excellent and well rounded liberal arts education at Loyola. Top notch faculty, great student body, and beautiful urban campus. I specifically obtained a rigorous premedical education and biochemistry degree, and am now enjoying my time in medical school. Overall, great school with great people.

  • Sandy Orozco

Loyola University truly is of a different kind. The students, staff, and faculty uphold a level of compassion and consideration that many don't get to experience during their collegiate years. Diversity is embraced; and so long as you are a person who strives to bring good forth, you'll find support here.

  • Sean Atkinson

This school is an amazing city experience for college. It is far enough from the city so that it is safe and the learning experience is amazing. They also have a DELTA SIGMA PHI chapter there. Those men are the greatest group of men on earth and have raised my quality rating from very good to excellent.

  • Elisabeth Jang

Loyola's academics are of very good standards especially in their science and medicine departments. The only downside I found was the tour. It did not highlight the campus life very well. When showing us the gym, they only showed a rock climbing wall that was still under construction.

  • Timothy Linville

Fantastic school! Move in day was quick, seamless, & painless! Volunteers did all the loading and uploading as well as hauling up to dorm room! Gonna love my Daughter getting her education from such an awesome all around College! THANK YOU!❤❤❤ @LoyolaUniversity …

Loyola University Chicago is the school of choice for those who wish to seek new knowledge in the service of humanity in a world-renowned urban center as members of a diverse learning community that values freedom of inquiry, the pursuit of truth and care for others

  • Fereshteh Rezvani

NICE UNIVERSITY WITH BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS. I have been there for visitation day and that was very great experience for me. The faculty and staff were so nice and friendly. The university also has very well equipped laboratories which is great for graduate students.

  • Ana Maria Trbojevich

"I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Loyola and I was very satisfied with the excellent and well rounded education I've received, especially in my undergraduate studies. The faculty was excellent, very approachable and willing to help."

  • M. Smith

Sad to see what has happened to Loyola under the misguided "leadership" of Jo Ann Roony. Ms. Roony, I have contacted your office several times without the courtesy of a return call or email. Perhaps you should consider showing more respect to Alumni.

  • Scott Andrews

Have fired employee(s) due to retaliation and illegal procedures, knowing a lone individual can not do much to fight such an organization. They practice unfair hiring/firing procedures that have been approved by HR and Presidents Office.

  • Kipkorir Martins

This is the place I dream to be, I wanna be there. looking forwad to experience for the gain of knowledge and wisdom instilled within the University. being there is my dream come true, From Africa to the world, I am the change.

  • Karama Ozar

Faculty here is great. My son had a great time, made some good friends and has great contacts now for the real world. Got a pretty decent scholarship as well, every little bit helps! It's an expensive school, but holds merit.

  • Jim Owen

Loyola gave me a fantastically well-rounded education. "Educating the whole man" is more than a catchy slogan, it is basis for learning the Truth through the Jesuit perspective that prepares students for the reality of life.

  • Sree Raji

Nice camps, great view of the lake. Unique building, in campus horticulture and environmental sustainability projects. Dinning accommodation for different choices like allergens, vegan, vegetarians and more.

  • Christine Schwartz

I had an excellent experience and received a well-rounded education from Loyola. I'd recommend it to those who are especially interested in studying history. The history department is fantastic.

  • Bernice James

I don't know how anyone goes to that school or that campus in the winter time it should be closed all the winter and only open in the summer. Horrendous weather in Chicago today it was horrible

  • Dana Callan-Farley

I'm biased. My alma mater provides a world class Jesuit education. Take a moment here, perhaps at Madonna DelaStrada Church and complete an examen. You and the world will be a better place.

  • Kenneth Hogan

It's a nice campus. I did find it to be a bit elitist and not completely welcoming to the non-wealthy, which is actually a horrible state of affairs for a Jesuit Christian University.

  • Jenny Reader

Worst institution ever. I never should have transferred here. It may have a beautiful campus but the staff, faculty, financial aid, and bursar office is terrible to deal with.

  • Andrew Stewart

All these one star reviewers would have no complaints if it was slander against Islam. Either we have blasphemy laws or we dont, you do not get to pick and choose.

  • Jango IG88

A an ever expanding Catholic University with a magnificent facility and beautiful lakefront views. The quality of education and student life is magnificent.

  • Rebeca Bowen

It was good to go back to drop off my son. He will be an RA this year. The campus looked good and the new building where my son is is really beautiful.

  • Juan Lloret

Awesome university, this is a great place to chill out and study some stuff, just come and you will have the beach really close to your place. enjoy

  • Emily Adams

My friend goes here and she seems to love it, I love the campus! It is beautiful, and the school is ranked one of the most green college in America.

  • Dean Troy

The administration is authoritarian and see students more as a number than a human. Club sports management treats clubs unfairly and with misogyny.

  • James Matheson, Jr.

I greatly value the education I received at LUC. I have used every bit of it every day since graduating. Great school. Excellent location.

  • serkan yıldırım

TBH not member of university but always riding scooter inside, buildings are looks fine and it's fun to have a location by the water.

What I like best is walking along the campus by the edge of the Lake, by the Chapel. It’s serene and beautiful and ever-changing.
