My dear friend Elyn recommended Martin Hughes Funeral Home. My mom died suddenly in Taiwan and I needed to fly her back to NY for burial. She did not want to be cremated nor embalmed. So I had to quickly find two good funeral homes, one in Taipei and one in NY. The Taiwan part was a terrible challenge that nearly killed me. But Rocco Paccione at Martin Hughes made the NY part a breeze. I was relieved after speaking with Rocco because he was clear about what needed to happen after we landed in NY, and very transparent about costs. There would be many more conversations that would confirmed that I had made the right choice because. Rocco was willing to work with my very hands on approach and my delayed dates and precarious schedule. This couldn’t be avoided as I was in Taiwan fighting against embalming my mother. Martin Hughes is not corporate nor flashy. Rocco and his staff were always honest, informative, compassionate and readily replied to questions. Yes, even with the 12 hour time difference. They are genuine folks that are extremely professional and take pride in their work. We finally left Taiwan on United Airlines. After clearing customs, finally meeting them and seeing their space, I again felt at ease. I knew that I could trust my mother in their care as they immediately felt like family. Good family. Martin Hughes helped to orchestrate smooth transportation and all the necessary permits and checklists at the chapel and cemetery. We were blessed with good weather that day and a great team at Martin Hughes. A big thank you to Luz, Tiffany, and Alyssa! On a very sad occasion they helped to make it a very special gathering that afternoon. Maybe it was the warm late afternoon sun or being surrounded by beautiful flowers and good conversation, but those in attendance were in no hurry to leave.

My beloved 53 yr. young husband passed away suddenly and left me a complete wreck. I was numb and in shock and was so confused because his passing was NOT expected. Rocco and Marianne were completely caring and understanding of my state of mind and made my experience as smooth as possible. The work they did on making my husband look so life like was beyond anything I could've ever hoped for. My husband looked like he was just sleeping peacefully as if he were in bed. I was so pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed with emotion with the care they took paying attention to detail with the picture I gave them. Truly the best I've ever seen. Words cannot express the depth of respect, kindness and empathy that Rocco and his family had for me when my mom passed away 5 days ago! Not only did they take their time to explain every detail to me about what I needed to do and how I needed to do it ,but I was overjoyed with the work they did on my mom! She not only looked absolutely gorgeous ,but she looked 20 years younger! Three years ago my dad passed away from cancer and they treated us exactly the same way and did an amazing job on him as well! I cannot say enough about this establishment and the man who runs it!!! The staff here is phenomenal the rapid service that was provided was mind blowing. All the arrangements and paperwork was expedited to help accommodate my wife since she is active duty. There was nothing that they did not think of to make our experience a pleasant one. They responded to all of our calls and last minute texts with politeness and speed. My mother in law looked beautiful at the services. Our family was pleased with everything. I can not Express how happy we were to work with this company. They handled both my in laws with such professionalism.

We have used Martin Hughes two times. The most recent was for the passing of my brother. We were so happy with how understanding, comforting and professional everyone was. Rocco is a true gentleman and made this hard time easier on the family, especially my mother. We thank everyone at Martin Hughes for their kindness and help. We never felt like they were trying to squeeze us for more money. Rocco was incredibly understanding and a pleasure to work with. They are truly a class act.

I cant say enough about this funeral home. My family has used them since I was born and probably before that. The death of a loved one is never easy. The owner and staff at Martin Hughes, through their experience and sincerity make it as comforting and easy as possible. Rocco is the consummate professional.

This is the most unassuming funeral homes and yet the absolute best. Rocco has been working with me since September when my mother started hospice. Rocco and his staff were lovely and understanding. Most importantly everyone who went, commented how lovely everything was. They made my days easier.
