Dear The Internet Jil Maddin at Made You Look is the greatest thing to ever happen in the Jewelry industry AND THAT'S HOW YOU START A REVIEW LETS DO THIS!!! My fiance and I are both of Indian descent and have some gold that has been passed down through our family but not in a 'rich people' way, in a sentimental "small necklaces and bangles, passed down through the family" sort of way. My goal was to make a meaningful and creative engagement ring by melting our family golds together a la Lord of the Rings. A friend of mine suggested Made You Look on Queen West in Toronto, and it was here that I met Lord Jilian "Sauron" Maddin who was destined to forge my one ring to rule them all. I've literally never had a more positive experience in ANY of my experiences in any service industry and I am NOT overstating. From the moment we met, Jil listened to every word of my ambitious project and reciprocated with positive and professional feedback. She was patient and CRAZY understanding of my budget which could only be described as "Sit down, be Humble". In fact Jil and I energized each other! The whole process was a fun back and forth of texts, IG tags, design refs, gem styles and obscure references for palette and sparkle! I'm pretty sure at one point I tagged her in a Lady Gaga award show outfit and she still somehow knew what I meant as a reference (side note: the ring we made is not meat). Jil's knowledge and passion for her work is completely outstanding. As she explained, the process starts with selecting stones. We both allowed this to take the time that it needed. Jil is well-versed, connected and well-liked in her community. She has access to the whole country... continent? world? 's pickings of stones. She's basically Thanos. She would say to me "D, I'm going to Vermont next week, might come back with a delicious chocolate diamond for us, stay tuned". Umm okay, easy Lil' Wayne. But it was worth it. And forget just having access to stones - we synced up in our quest for the right ones. I simply couldn't pull a trigger on a stone until I could tell that Jil was as excited to make the ring as my fiance would be to receive it. I feel like this is a good time to sidebar and tell you that if you're the type that just wants to walk in and point at a ring and then buy it - Jil's selection at Made You Look is dope for that too. Okay but if you ARE a nerd for sentiment, can I tell you about "the stories"? I'm a filmmaker. So I went in with the obscure idea of telling "3 stories" on the ring. No, I'm not pretentious, YOU'RE pretentious. The idea actually came from seeing Jil's previous work at Made You Look. Her unique style allows for 3 'looks' on one ring. You heard me. It's insane and you should stop reading this right now and go to her instagram @maddinjewellery and look at all of them and then never come back to reading this because you get lost scrolling back in her profile forever. No one will judge you. Jil took my vision and expressed it in ring form. She did 3 champagne diamond baguettes on one side, a brilliant white sapphire in the middle and a chocolate diamond on the other side, book-ended by 2 small colourless diamonds. All embedded elegantly into 2 golds melted together: gold from my mother, and gold from my fiance's mother. She even sourced the best Toronto engraver and etched a design in the band. The design is an exact replica of one of my fiance's grandmother's bangles. I KNOW! Kleenex much?! So in conclusion, The Internet... Maybe you're googling or reading reviews because there's a lovely person that you want to spend the rest of your life with. And you want to show them that by giving them a piece of jewelry that they'll wear forever. F-O-R-E-V-E-R. It's literally all of the rest of the time you and this person will have together. So good job reading up on where to get a ring and getting this far in my review. Start forever off on a good note. Go to Made You Look and get Jil Maddin to write the "once upon a time" in your story.

I've been into this shop 3 times. I am graduating from a nurse practitioner program and I was planning on buying myself a ring as a gift. The first time I entered was about 1.5 years ago to just take a look at what was out there and try on a few rings, my budget is $5K. The person who helped me was wonderful. The second time a few months after that, there was someone who saw I was curious in rings and did not offer to help me. That person actually helped someone who came in after me, then when they left she continued to clean the cases before she asked me if I needed help. It wasn't a horrible interaction after I was already ignored and treated as invisible so I forgot about it. Fast forward to now. There is a sign on the locked door of the shop that says if you don't have a mask please see the front desk upon entering. I am standing there trying to get in and the same person from my second interaction is there helping someone and does not allow me in, I ring the doorbell and they immediately say "do you have a mask?" I said no, I was completely flustered by her rude tone to me immediately. I didn't even point out the sign. I was then lectured on how I had to bring my own mask and it would be required by retailers soon but there are only a few set aside or something like that and she reluctantly gave me one. I completely understand wearing a mask, but I didn't have my own. I am a nurse and I have to wear a mask 35-50 hours a week, so I don't usually wear one in the open air, but I understand when retailers want me to. It didn't make sense to me she said that because the sign says see the front desk if you don't have one. My issue isn't even the mask thing - its how I was treated. I only made a purchase on this day because there was a particular piece I wanted as a gift for someone and I've had my eye on it for a while. I really should have walked out and taken my money elsewhere. It was only a small purchase but I would have rather spent it in good spirits. There were a few other pieces that I was intending on purchasing for the same gift but now I'll look elsewhere. I follow many of the jewelers/goldsmiths that sell out of Made You Look and was still intent on making a large purchase as a graduation gift to myself but I really want to avoid a third interaction with this person that made me feel like I was nothing. The person who helped me checkout was nice enough but I was literally still feeling extremely embarrassed by the woman who answered the door. I barely walked 4 feet into the store. Lots of businesses and restaurants in Parkdale definitely have a hipster I'm better than you vibe towards people of colour while pretending to be progressive or strongholds in the community, and this one is no different.

Went in to get matching permanent bracelets with my partner and we were running late to our appointment due to Toronto traffic but they were super understanding and accommodating about it! Unfortunately when we got home my partner's bracelet broke through no fault of his OR the clerk who put it on him - one of the surrounding chain links snapped off, not the link where it was welded together! When we called the store they were again super accommodating and lovely, apologizing and booking us in first thing the next day to fix it for free. Had no issues with the chain since, they both are holding strong and look amazing! The person who welded our bracelets talked us through the whole process. The store is so gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing, and everyone who worked there was so friendly and welcoming. I purchased a BEAUTIFUL necklace by the artist Dianne Rodger - each jewelry display has information on the artist who made the pieces. The woman who helped me provided amazing assistance, showing me how the necklace hung perfectly on me but if I didn't like it they could adjust the chain. She also provided me with the full wrapping, gift bag, and brochures for the artist and store, even though I wore the necklace out (because I loved it so much). In conclusion, you can come for the beautiful jewellery, supporting local artists, but the incredible staff and overall vibe will also win you over. I 100% recommend this place!

I was really excited to find a great engagement ring at this store and unfortunately the staff member I worked with just kind of killed the experience of ring shopping for me. I had looked online, thought a vintage / deco black diamond would be beautiful and when I went in was repeatedly made to feel dumb for even asking. The first thing I was told was "obviously you don't know what we do if you think you're getting a used ring here" because I said I wanted vintage. So I clarified vintage inspired. I showed the associate photos I had seen on the company's instagram and she said all of those were custom and not for sale. I could choose from what they had on hand. I guess to begin I thought I had been very careful checking to see if those pieces were custom made, since they are very unique looking compared to other engagement rings. I still don't see anything on the website's page for vintage / deco rings that says everything displayed is made to order, but maybe I'm missing something obvious. I just think eye rolls and generally a woman huffing and sounding exhausted to be dealing with me was not the right way to handle it. Ultimately, we didn't have enough time to wait on a custom ring. The pieces they do have made look really beautiful but I couldn't tell based on what was in store and didn't feel comfortable spending time trying to work with the store because of the associate I dealt with.

About four years ago my mother gave me her engagement diamond. She wasn't wearing it any more and wanted me to make it into a ring or pendant. For the next three years I visited many jewellery stores to look for interesting settings but nothing really stood out. I happened to see a very small pine cone pendant that my son purchased as a gift for his girlfriend. I was impressed by it's detail and workmanship and decided to visit Made You Look to see what other interesting jewellery they had. There were so many wonderful pieces of jewellery but I was immediately drawn to work by Anat Kaplan from Anouk Jewellery. I made an appointment to meet with Anat and she spent quite a bit of time discussing the philosophy behind her work and trying to understand what exactly I was looking for. I had lots of older jewellery that I didn't wear and she incorporated some stones into her design for me. We worked together to create a piece that I would love and I wasn't disappointed. Anat was a pleasure to work with and I am very happy with the results. I proudly wear my beautiful new pendant. I never take it off. I was so pleased with the pendant that I commissioned Anat to make a pair of earrings that would compliment the pendant. The store is a very nice space filled with beautiful jewelry at a variety of price points. Me and my partner went there to shop for wedding bands, and we had a terrible experience. My ring size is 12, which is slightly larger than average for men. The ring in the display case that caught my eye was 5mm wide, and I thought it might look a bit thin on my hand. I asked for a size 12, 5mm ring--any ring of any material--to try on to see if 5mm was going to look too thin in general. The kit they have for just this purpose only went up to size 11. The staff member, who I assume was embarrassed by this, proceeded to explain to me in excruciating detail all the reasons why it was unreasonable for me to expect that any of the hundreds of rings in the store would be a size 12--they literally only had two size 12 rings, both 7mm. I really did not expect to be fat shamed for having hands that are barely larger than average, but here we are. Nearly everybody in Canada buys a wedding band at one point or another. It's bad enough not to have a sample kit that covers two standard deviations from the mean (size 4-16), but when you literally *make rings on the premises* it's inexcusable. Please, rise to the level of your peers at FTJco and provide sample rings in various widths for 95% of people, not 68%

Can I just live here?! This place is absolutely amazing with equally amazing staff. The jewelry is to die for - and seriously will drive 4 hours (from Sudbury) for all my future needs and desires. My partner and I visited a month ago looking for wedding bands and was slightly overwhelmed with the unbelievable selection. Thanks to Nadia, we were able to keep my head on and narrow it down to a few pieces. After reviewing the “final draft” photos I took, we felt like we’ve come to a decision and went back just yesterday. I was a little nervous when I didn’t see Nadia off the hop, but no need, everyone is beyond knowledgeable and kind! Michelle was a gem herself and again, so helpful! Never rushed, really went over every little detail to make sure we are beyond comfortable and confident with our new additions. As someone who usually is treated with (Julia Roberts in) Pretty Women Syndrome, it was super refreshing to be treated as a person with purpose. EVERYONE, seriously every human we encountered in MYL is kind, talented, smart, and honestly, straight up cooooool. There’s a little bit of everything in MYL from cute and dainty to “is this real life?!” Beautiful quality, beyond reasonable prices, and just down right stunning all around! I arrived at Made You Look with a crazy idea for a custom Ruby engagement ring, after being rejected by 3 other local jewellers. Honestly, my design requirements were a bit out of the ordinary (read eccentric) and I brought in a raw garnet (uncut) that was locally mined, to wanted to be incorporated into the design... I was contacted by Alex immediately and we discussed my preferences for the stone and the floral concept on the ring. He: 1. Found a very unique and hard-to-find stone by giving me a ton of options to choose from 2. Implemented a local flower into the design (which we now identity as Cornus canadensis lol) 3. Worked with a stone cutter to cut my raw garnet and embedded my an optically inclusion-free garnet in the center of the flower 4. Cast and engraved leaves with the flowers 5. Implemented lotus flowers in the gallery for the stone 6. Added 10 more rubies between the flowers and leaves, just to give it a Royal touch! 7. Bent over backwards, to accommodate all my requests and went the 11th Mile! Alex worked passionately and outside of his comfort zone, under tight deadlines... It was an absolute pleasure to work with him. I would recommend in a heart beat and I fully intend on reaching out to Made you look for future projects!

Made You Look is hands down my favourite shop in Toronto. The staff are so welcoming and kind, and the designers are incredibly talented. I often stop in just to browse and try on jewelry - a visit to this store literally boosts my mood and inspires me so much. I’ve bought pieces from a number of different designers, including having custom pieces made. The designers are so lovely, and you can feel their love for their work in every interaction you have with them. One designer in particular I find I keep going back to is Tessa Cameron (Invidiosa jewelry). Her pieces are so beautiful. They have a very textured and organic feel to them that I just love. She recently made a pendant for my mother, using a sapphire that has a special meaning for my mom. Tessa is wonderful to work with - she takes you through each step of the process, sending photos and ideas along the way, making the custom process so much fun . The necklace that she made is unique and stunning, and is exactly what I wanted for my mom. If you’re looking for a piece of jewelry, custom or ready to wear, I can’t recommend Tessa and the rest of the designers at Made You Look enough .

My boyfriend and I visited this beautiful store in search of an engagement ring. I visited many big retailers and jewelers in the GTA, I couldn't find what I was looking for and I wasn't happy with the service.. until I stepped into Made You Look! From the first interaction on the phone to choosing a ring in the store, we have been so impressed with the staff's professionalism, the unique jewelry and their affordable prices. The process of finding the perfect ring can be overwhelming and stressful especially during Covid, we didn't know what to expect. However, the staff put our mind at ease by answering questions and they did so much to make ensure the safety of not only their staff but their customers too. We wanted to support the work of local artists and we were impressed with the work of Liane Vaz. We are currently in the process of having a ring made by her and we couldn't be more happier! Thank you Liane for making our vision a reality and the staff from MadeMeLook for making us feel welcome and safe. I have already recommended this place to my family/friends and will be coming back to buy my wedding band from here aswell.

Sarah, the owner of Made You Look, is an angel on this earth. The care and compassion she showed me still brings tears to my eyes. I had just come home from the hospital after delivering my beautiful baby boy. After months of swollen fingers and not being able to wear my wedding rings, I thought I might try them on again — a decision I immediately regretted. My finger was turning purple, I couldn’t get the rings off. As I sat in emergency with a 3hr+ wait ahead of me, with my husband and 5 day-old baby in the car, I made a desperate call to Made You Look. The store was closed, but Sarah picked up. Through tears I explained my situation and Sarah told me to come on in. She warmly welcomed me and made me feel safe in my vulnerable state. Then she carefully removed my rings. On my way out she gave me the best hug, which I so badly needed. In a few months I’ll go back to have my rings repaired and resized. I know they are going to show the same level of care. After the passing of my senior pup, I started looking around for a vial necklace to hold his ashes. I wasn't a fan of the mass produced items available online (mostly pieces that gave me Cruel Intentions vibes) so I began my search for custom jewelry designers -- I wasn't even sure if something like this were possible. I reached out to MYL and they promptly connected me to Peter Van Walraven. He was a DREAM to work with; patient, kind, knowledgeable, and talented! From the initial email to picking up the necklace from the shop took about 3 months -- I was in no immediate rush and I felt like the workaround time for a custom vial pendant paired with a global pandemic was a reasonable amount of time. I did not have a specific image in mind; all I knew was I wanted the following elements: an emerald for the birth month, white for his coat, and black and tan for his collar. Peter's designs and material choices with these elements in mind were stunning! Thank you so much! I absolutely love the piece and I'm so happy to be able to have a something to commemorate Joey.

My partner and I bought wedding rings from Kathryn Rebecca (me) and Uli Dehez (him) in October 2015, and were absolutely thrilled with the process and outcome from start to finish. We were working within tighter-than-normal timelines, but Kathryn and Uli not only accommodated our schedule but worked with us to ensure the rings were exactly as we wanted. I met with Kathryn on multiple occasions to discuss the specificities of the ring, which was a variation on a previous custom design she had created. Kathryn was extremely thorough in gathering information on the details of the ring and importantly, added creative suggestions to make the piece entirely unique. I also wore a pineapple shaped necklace from the store on my wedding day and was thrilled with how it looked. I absolutely recommend Made You Look for anyone in the market for a unique piece of jewellery, whether you know exactly what you want or are open to suggestions from the designers - we received great help in both instances. Service and artistry were second to none. We will definitely be going back!

I brought in a watch I purchased as a gift to be laser engraved. I was really impressed with the level of service from everyone I interacted with. I first emailed to confirm the services they provide and was responded to the same day. When I brought the watch in, Spencer helped me with the layout and all the other questions I had. He is very knowledgable and gave me a sense of trust in choosing them. He texted me to let me know how things were going and things he needed approval on. The watch was engraved in cyrillic and it turned out beautifully. They completed the work in three days and I am very happy. I had not been there before, but I will be coming back. They create and sell very beautiful jewellery that caught my eye, but I didn't have enough time to explore everything. This place is one of a kind not only in Parkdale, but all of Toronto. To have that rare combination of artistic talent and customer service is rare. Thank you for the engraving. Look forward to my next return.

After doing some research on custom jewelry shops I decided to bring my boyfriend (now husband) to Made You Look. We'd been talking about getting engaged and wanted to look into getting a custom ring made. We were both greeted by the friendly staff who gave us a quick tour of the different designers and styles then let us do our own looking around. When we settled on a designer that fit my style we booked and appointment. We came in for our custom design appointment and as the designer was showing us some of her work for inspiration we fell in love. A beautiful emerald cut peach coloured sapphire ring, with a diamond halo and band set in rose gold. Definitely was not the look I was going for, but we both just couldn't get that ring out of our minds. Plus it fit perfectly! The whole process was so easy from start to finish. All the staff were super friendly, and the owner was absolutely a pleasure to interact with. Highly recommended!

The finished results are our special treasures, and yield constant compliments. Made You Look is the perfect spot for a browse or to create something unique, personal, and one-of-a-kind. We're very lucky to have such a fabulous jewel of a place in our city!

I received a beautiful ring as a gift, but the large, heart-shaped stone came loose. I went to a couple of the name brand stores at Yorkdale, they were going to charge me $300.00 for a new setting. They were rude about it, too. Well, there was no way. So I went to the internet, and Made You Look came up. I read the reviews and the information on the site and went straight away. From beginning to end, the customer service was EXCELLENT. The entire experience was a joy. In less than a week, Uli, the Master Goldsmith, replated my ring and shined up the stone and the ring now looks better than when I first received it. Made You Look is the only place to go for jewellry. Tell you what, find a reason to go, just to experience what customer service is supposed to be like. Well done. I hope you put all those toffee-nosed, arrogant, criminally overpriced stores out of business.

This was the perfect place for us to find wedding bands. We looked through Toronto and looked online, but Made You Look won our loyalty. The selection was lovely and we found exactly what we wanted: beautiful rings with the warmth of being visibly, gorgeously handmade. The saleswomen were very helpful, remarkably patient, knowledgeable, and ready to explain exactly what we were looking at and trying on. I had to have mine resized and they kept in touch by text as they worked on it, which meant that I didn't have to worry about when it would be ready. We were so convinced by their technical ability that we brought in an heirloom ring to be repaired and resized as well, and that was done efficiently and with communication throughout. The store is also a wonderful place just to look around! Friends and family were impressed and they'll be dropping by.

Cool place. Really unique custom jewelry designs & materials, great prices for any budget. It is also really friendly shopping environment & when I asked if I can take photos of the store to review some designs later on a go - ladies were only happy to let me roam unsupervised. As for customer service - very professional! Originally went there to adjust a gift - bracelet wouldn't close ..but had no gift receipt. With no questions asked, the lady recognized it as one made by the artist who works with the store & took it in for adjustment. Got a call next day to come pick it up. Didnt have to chase it + fix ended up being free + technically I wasn't even a customer, but someone who just got the design as a gift = impressive in my books. Definetely will be back next time I'm on the hunt for something different or unique jewelry gift.

Can't say enough good things about this place. I was supposed to get married this July and was looking to place an order in March. Despite all the uncertainty with Covid-19, Made You Look remained incredibly responsive and helped ensure a seamless process for me to get my wedding band. Even though the physical store was closed, local designer, Jon Pollack, was able to craft the perfect wedding band for me from his home studio using his last piece of rose gold. I just picked up the ring last weekend and was so impressed. The quality was impeccable, and it was clear how much time, thought, care and effort Jon put into creating the ring. If you're looking for something unique and want to support talented local designers like Jon, this is the place to go!

My partner and I went into Made you Look last weekend to look at engagement rings together. I have been following the shop on social media for a while and was drawn to the welcoming atmosphere and the chance to check out multiple different artists. Peter was the one helping us at the counter and he was 10/10! He knew his geology and gemology so well and shared info with us that added to our experience rather than overwhelmed us! We were able to try many different styles on and didn't feel rushed at all. This was our first experience looking at rings and it was such a positive experience. I can't say enough about the positive experience I had at Made You Look. From the warm customer service I received from Aminda as I explained the custom wedding band I was hoping to make out of a family ring to the beautiful final product created by Alex. Email/text/phone communication was always prompt and professional but the best part aside from the stunning ring that was created was that Alex seemed as excited as me (maybe more!) to make this creation. It felt really nice to have such passionate people collaborate on such a special piece. As an unexpected bonus, Alex sent me pictures and a video of the actual ring making process which was really cool to check out. Thank you so much for everything! Would highly recommend.

I worked with Ulrich Dehez to design my wedding band in 2017. The band is beautiful and well made. Uli was easy to work with and communicate with throughout the process. Further, I recently had an issue with my band, and upon contacting Uli, he was prompt in responding and addressed my concerns. It has been such a pleasure working with him and I am grateful for his attention to detail. He takes such pride in his work which shines through in the quality of his work and approach with customers. Thank you Uli! First experience was amazing. Sapphire that they sourced was flawless and the girl helping me was great. I unfortunately had a second Sapphire fall out of my ring and came here due to the first awesome experience. Sadly when I picked up my ring... A woman named Amelia (?) With blonde hair cashed me out. Not only was the Sapphire COMPLETELY WRONG... Too dark to match the other two pale sapphire... She was ridiculously condescending in her tone and claimed that the Sapphire sourced this time "was the best they could find"... I waited over two weeks last time and got a perfect stone... This time it was a week and a half... I'm fine to wait but don't tell me that's the best they could find. Not coming here again.

I've been working with Made You Look for years. Custom design has been a wonderful experience. I've had pieces made with various designers and each has so much knowledge to bring to the table. Because MYL has so many artists under one roof there is a lot of talent to draw on to help you create a piece from start to finish. Walking in to buy something original off the shelf is also too good to be true. If you want a unique gift this is the place to go, whether it's custom made or purchased from the incredible jewellery available in shop. I should really say gallery.... MYL is truly an experience whether to design, purchase or browse. There's no place like it. Can't say enough positive things about this place.

My experience with Made You Look team, and designer Alastair Crombie was outstanding. When looking for an engagement ring we started by browsing the display of rings available as they suggested. With our shortlist of rings selected, our favourite one was a bit out of my budget, so the staff said they could put us in touch with the designer to make a similar ring within our budget. The designer was Alastair Crombie, and he was amazing. He explained the entire process from start to finish, wasn't pushy or salesy, came up with a magnificent design, shared high-rez progress photos, and knocked the entire thing out of the park. We can't say enough good things about this place and Alastair. Thank you all so much.

I recently brought in two bracelets for repair and I'm very happy with the results. The charm broke off the gold piece and needed to be soldered back on. The green and silver piece needed more love, including replacing missing a stone and shortening the length. I asked for an affordable and durable option for the replacement and the goldsmith recommended a beautiful Green Onyx. Many thanks to the team who consulted on the repairs and sent me frequent updates. They were very responsive and made me feel comfortable asking questions. I felt like I was in good hands the moment I dropped off my jewellery. Highly recommended this shop for custom jewellery repairs and thoughtful service. Support local businesses!

Walking into Made You Look, I had no idea what I was looking for. Being part of a same-sex couple, I was anxious about finding somewhere that would be open and understanding of what I was looking for. The staff made me feel extremely comfortable, and even though I was on a limited budget, they still treated me like I was buying a $5000 ring. The woman who helped me was incredibly kind, and had me so excited to pop the question by the time I left the store. I wish I could remember her name (she was blonde and deserves a raise)! I am sure we'll be back when we start looking for wedding bands. Thank you for being so wonderful. Because of your help I was able to find the perfect ring for my fiance.

Though we didn't end up purchasing our wedding bands from Made You Look, I would still highly recommend them. I contacted them simply to see if we could get professionally sized. They were responsive, super kind, and invited us into the store just to get inspiration. Sarah was very knowledgeable, taught us a lot about rings, and though I originally expected everything to be out of our budget, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have options for almost any budget. I have to add that hearing local artists clinging and clanging as they make their custom creations on site was such a nice touch! I loved everything about this store and hope I can come back for something in the future!

Gorgeous things by talented artisans in every possible medium - but this is a special tribute to Jenny Day, who most often undertakes my jewellry repairs: always friendly & cheerful, endlessly resourceful & ingenious. Recently I took in a valued pair of earrings for which the missing seed pearl could not be matched. Jenny, over a period of several weeks, actually built up innumerable layers of pearlescent nail polish and re-created the missing gem. I cannot even tell the difference!!! So very clever and so kind. She knew it was something I valued greatly. Wonderful people. Amazing jewellry. Beautiful space. The gem of Parkdale!!!!

I recently purchased my wedding band at Made You Look and I couldn't be happier with the ring or my experience. I had a wonderful conversation with two of the sales reps who were extremely friendly, helpful and insightful. I had (or thought I had) a clear idea of what I wanted when I went in, and was shown a wonderful selection of options. However, the sales rep then began showing me numerous other design ideas, and the work of some of the local jewellers and artisans. I fell in love with the work of Melanie Leblanc and purchased an absolutely stunning, one-of-a-kind white gold band. Absolutely in love, and would recommend to anyone! Thank you!

I was recommended to the store by a friend when I was looking to commission a piece of jewellery for a friend. I messaged the store and someone responded back within a day or so. I told her what I was looking for and was connected to a Jewelry Artist, Liane Vaz, who could make what I require immediately. An email introduced us to each other and the back and forth after with photos and what I require commenced for a few days. Liane was able to conceptualized and create the necklace exactly as I had envisioned. The price was reasonable and the work exceptional! Would definitely commission another piece through Liane again without question.

I broke my jade bracelet in three spots and wanted a secure and sturdy way to repair it while also adding to the overall look. Made You Look connected me with Peter van Walraven, a goldsmith who works with them. He was not only able to fix my bracelet, he also added so much beauty to it as well. I had him incorporate a skeleton flower motif to the gold cuffs that reinforced the breaks. Needless to say, he delivered and the craftsmanship is amazing. These photos don't do the floral design justice. I know exactly who and where to go if I ever need any kind of jewelry repair, custom or otherwise, done in the future.

Of the three Queen West jewelry shops I contacted for a quote to repair the chain of a gold bracelet, MYL came back with the most reasonable price. When I brought in the chain, they actually said it would be $10 less than their quote! They said it would take a week to repair, but they contacted me two or three days later saying it was ready. If that wasn’t all amazing, I also brought in a lovely gold necklace that was pretty tangled, and they untangled it free of charge. Truly a 5 star customer experience - I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to. Thanks for great service! Highly recommend Made You Look.

My (then) girlfriend and I walked into Made You Look on a whim and were welcomed by the very friendly and helpful staff. After deciding on a designer we were gravitating toward we made an appointment to come back and meet with them personally. One of the pieces the designer showed us as an example lit up the room and our hearts. We both knew that was the ring for my (now) wife. Made You Look could not have made it easier for me from there. I found four Christmas gifts in 10 minutes here. This is my go-to spot for great finds in the $40-$50 range. It never fails me. I also bought my bridesmaids gifts here, and my husband bought his wedding ring. I love this place. Amazing quality no matter what price range you are looking for. The staff is great too; always helpful no matter what artist's work you are looking at purchasing. Never had a problem post purchase, in fact, I damaged something myself in my purse, took it back and they repaired it without question immediately! One of my favourite places in the city!

Gorgeous jewellery store from the moment you walk in! Staff are very courteous, helpful, and not pushy to make a sale (unlike other jewellery stores). My fiancee found this place online and I found it very easy to navigate through different artist profiles to find the right engagement ring. Eight months later I got into contact with the same artist, Kathryn Rebecca to create my wedding band and she was fantastic to work with. I went to Made You Look hoping I could get something fantastic for my wife for xmas and her 40th Birthday and I wasn't disappointed. My husband and I had our wedding rings custom made 5 years ago by Kathryn. The rings are such good quality and designed really well. I recently had another ring remade by Kathryn and she is such a pleasure to work with. She listens to all my requests and followed up every step of the way. I find the pricing really reasonable. I could not be happier with the workmanship and will definitely be going back in the future! The staff at the store as very friendly and helpful as well. Would highly recommend!

Cannot say enough good things about this place. It's a beautiful space & the quality of product & service are both excellent. I recently purchased a beautiful necklace but wanted the chain switched out for a finer one. Although that task proved difficult, the staff - Kate in particular - could not have been more accommodating or helpful. I got exactly what I wanted and was so impressed with their in-house services & overall customer service. A great experience from start to finish & a high recommend!

I really liked this place. Went to look for wedding bands and they have a lot of selection and an interesting model of showcasing jewellers from around the area. One negative thing was that the person who helped us clearly had some grudge against the store my fiancé got her engagement ring from. Made some negative comments towards the place and left us with a sour taste leaving. Great selection and helpful staff, but strange to speak negatively about the store we got our engagement ring from.

Edit: The owner replied to this review. The lack of service is not what warranted my 2 star review. It’s the poor attitude I received that warrants this review. I’ve been to this place multiple times and have gotten excellent customer service. This time however has completely tarnished my experience. I didn’t make a big deal out of being denied service. But immediately blaming me for my poor review rather than seeing what the potential issue may be, is a poor way to conduct business.

Such an amazing store! Everyone I talked to was so helpful while I was trying to pick out an engagement ring (and learn about rings on the fly too!). I was looking around for a place that did custom pieces and found this little gem of a place. I sent an email about what I wanted and was quickly directed to one of their jewelers. I ended up working with Emily on a custom pendant and she was very quick with emails, clear, thorough, and accommodating. The end result was gorgeous and more than I hoped for! I will definitely be recommending this place and coming back when I need another custom piece.

I have bought a lot of jewellery from MYL over the years, but my most recent experience was buying a stone from a gem dealer in february, then having Nadia Werchola set it into a ring for me. The process was great, I was able to have it made exactly as I wanted it, and it is definitely the most beautiful thing that I own. I love coming here, and recommend it for not only custom jewellery, but also for the beautiful things they sell ready made.

They were amazing in helping me engrave a zippo lighter that I bought for my boyfriend. They helped me pick an amazing font and explained to me what the finished product would look like very realistically (and it was better if not exactly what they explained and what I wanted!) and also helped me figure out the best engraving for my price range. They are a bit pricier than some places, but given how good a job they do the price is perfect.

"Katie", professionally known as Kathryn Rebecca, has opened my eyes to the world of jewelry, which I didn't have much knowledge about before. Her custom work is stunning and helps me make those special pieces for my family. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, and the results professional.

I love this place! After looking for a black pearl necklace all over Toronto. I went into Made you look and found one for 390 which was a bit out of my price range. One of the employees said they can make me one that would be more affordable. They promptly sent me pictures with different pearls and made a beautiful necklace and shipped it to me so quickly. Incredibly happy with the service and would recommend Made You Look to anyone.

Deborah at Made you look designed the most beautiful and unique custom engagement ring for me and I remain very happy with it several years later. My husband ordered a two toned band from one of the business's suppliers and it wasn't holding up well after a few years. Deborah did all the legwork with that supplier and they made it right and exchanged his ring. I highly recommend Made you look and Deborah.

My fiancé proposed with his mom’s ring. I took it to made you look for re-sizing and cleaning. The staff was super helpful and friendly, they recommended getting it re-tipped and having the stone tightened as well. I got it back a week later and it looks like a brand new ring! New tips are super clean and even, and it’s so shiny . Will definitely bring other things here when they need maintenance.

Made You Look has 2 stores directly across the street from each other that both offer contemporary, artisan-made, often locally-created unique jewelery that is both beautiful and ethical. I had a piece of jewelery repaired there and am very grateful to the staff for helping come up with a piece that is very dear to me. Bought an engagement ring here for my girlfriend. Went in 5-6 times before deciding on one but each time I went in the staff was patient, helpful and nice. I'd had great service from them in the past when I just needed an inexpensive chain for a pendant which is why I came back and was just as happy with the service for this important purchase. My sister and I came in Saturday before noon to get permanent bracelets done. We both paid for gold plated bracelets with an extra fee for welding. My bracelet has not even lasted one day and has fell off. I am not sure why they are calling these permanent bracelets as mines did not even LAST 24 hours. Disappointed to say the least. Do not recommend. Also very highly priced.

Really helpful staff, got the perfect gift for my mom. It's a bit on the $$$$ side, but they do have local artists working on most of their jewelry from what I've heard. The 3-star is because they had a tipping option on their machines, which at that point I personally felt forced to tip as they were all so helpful, but it did not come from the bottom of my heart.

Such a great place. There's a huge variety and they will make you what you want. All local designers which feels so much better than buying very personal pieces of jewelry (for milestone events) at big commercial jewelry stores or shady back room diamond dealers. You can meet the designer too. We've also bought casual jewelry from MYL. The space is super cool too.

Knowledgeable and very friendly staff. They upsized and inscribed two silver rings I made myself in a jewelry class while on vacation. The rings had an etched pattern around the rings which made it trickier and required a visible seam to upsize but the way they did it was really sharp... They made it look like the rings were designed that way. Very impressed!

Made You Look has a great selection of rings on display that help to narrow down the best artist to design a ring for you. We ended up having Sin Kim create my engagement and wedding rings (and later my husband's wedding band as well). Getting the rings custom made was a little pricy but the rings are perfect and I haven't regretted the cost for a minute!

I got a few bracelets and earrings repaired as well as a ring resized a few weeks ago and I had the best experience. The people were so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, the turnaround time was very quick and the services are very reasonably priced. The store is pet friendly, which was an added bonus! Highly recommend and will be going again soon.

Best jewelry shop in the city. In my experience you can always find a unique piece for any style and price point. They sell a ton of local stuff and have reasonable rates for custom work. I've been coming here since the shop was just a fraction of it's current size and my budget was a fraction of what it is now.
