It was my last trip abroad with mom for 2 years. It must have been our fault for choosing Madrid, Spain. One airport ruined our trip. When I entered the airport to go to Lyon, France, I asked the staff to send my luggage, and she said we had to pay extra. The luggage that the three of us had was three suitcases, three backpacks, and three eco-bags. Besides, both the weight and the quantity of luggage did not exceed the regulations. However, there were more than 100ml bottles in the suitcase, so I was going to send the suitcases All the people next to us were paying for suitcases, which weighs more than 23 kilograms, but they said we had to pay to send our bags, which are 21 inches and less than 10 kilograms, so I thought this was a place where people over 23 kilograms pay. Because even though I told the staff that we have no reason to pay, she didn't give us a proper answer at all. We ended up wandering for a long time and went to the place where we send luggages, they told us to pick up the ticket from the place we went earlier. So we lined up again, and the same staff told us the flight departure time is 10:15, but we have to get to the inside of airport until 9:45, but it's 9:40 now, so she can't do it because there's not much time left, go to the office and change the flight time. So we went to the office and line up for more than 15 minutes and ask a white male employee to change the flight time, he said that we have to pay a penalty of over 200 euros per person without even checking it properly. Even though I said, "We can pay for it. Please just change the flight time” The staff keep emphasized 'Each' and said, 'If I was in your situation, I'd already run and get on the plane,' so I said the other staff at the place where I was try to sending the suitcases, just said that boarding was almost closed so change the flight time, That's why we came all the way here, but the employee just walked into the office ignoring me. There was nothing we could do, and it was already after the plane left. We were originally planned to take a bus to go to Paris, France, after arriving to Lyon. But we also missed the bus. Because of the plane. No one told us properly, and didn't want to hear it properly. A long time later, fortunately, a staff member helped us to cancel the flight and helped to book the flight which goes directly to Paris. The penalty was 150 euros per person, not 200 euros. After that, when we went to a baggage checkpoint, a young female Spanish employee shouted in Spanish at us, who were the only Asians. I don't know what that means, so I asked if she could speak English, she only used Spanish, and she even told us to take out the shoes too. Without the reasons. So we should stay barefoot for a while. It was very unpleasant, and when I didn't understand her Spanish, the person passing by was laughed at me and looked at us with the staff and spoke with her with laughing. There were some people who helped us, but we could feel that most of them ignored and laughed at us. Living in Korea, Canada, and traveling abroad a lot, I've never been treated like this in my whole life. Is it still a sin to be born as Asian, even about 58 percent of the 7.7 billion population from all over the world is Asian? The only thing we did at the airport was to send the luggages and go to the next destination. Comparing to other passengers, we had nothing different except our race.

Very nice and spacious terminal. Terrible organization. I think worse than bad. You must arrive very early to this satellite. Since the obstacles are everywhere. You arrive on the little train and as soon as the door opens you find a crowd of people who can't go up the stairs because to get out you have to go through immigration. The signs say that the delay is 11 minutes. Lie. It took me more than 30 minutes to be able to climb the ladder. Then the line for immigration was almost 40 minutes more. Then you must find your office door. Before entering your room they check you again. Another line that took 10 minutes. After you pass this control you cannot eat in any restaurant because if you want to do so you must go out and go through the controls again. oh All this adds up to the line to check in at T4 and the security control at T 4. The latter took almost 40 minutes more. An ugly and bad Odyssey for the Spanish bureaucracy in these terminals. In the end, normally before entering the plane, they check you again. Could the Spanish save some steps? Or do the immigration check at T4? They must do something because they make a terminal dysfunctional that could be the best in the world due to its size. But now it is the worst.

EN: Barajas airport in Madrid is one of the busiest in Europe. Now with Terminal 4 (where Iberia and associated companies operate) it has gained a lot of space, although it also complicates its internal movements. Don't rush until the last hour to go, take some time so you don't miss the plane. Very high prices inside the airport, so better bring food from home, or look for a frequent flyer lounge.

If you are new, you may take some time to get use to it but it's really managed well as compared to other airports here in Spain. Boarding time only it's be chaotic otherwise it's fine.

This is one big airport just follow the signs and you won't get lost. Or should I say it is a good place to get lost actually.
