We are in process of buying our first home and had an awful experience with this estate agent. The sale started in June and carried on up to mid October only to fell through. After doing the survey which come up with around few grands of work that needed to be actioned urgently, so we have asked sellers for reduction in final price. For over a month we were led on and assured that sellers are considering it. Despite numerous chasers we had no updates which left us in limbo. Finally after over a month we were told that sellers are taking the property off the market. It was horrible experience which left us thousands out of pocket and need to reapply for mortgage on new way higher mortgage rates. Highly dissapointed with the service and lack of communication.

We recently bought our first home through Matthews and were very happy with their service from start to finish. We were looking for the perfect property for us which took over a year, and in this time had several viewings with James who was always very helpful and refreshingly honest. James helped us negotiate a good price for the house we eventually found. We had a very long drawn out conveyancing process and had to wait for a probate grant and so it was all very painstaking but Matt did everything he could to help sort out issues and get the sale finalised. Overall we were very pleased with our experience and would certainly recommend buying through Matthews.

Matthew's acted on our behalf selling our house. They set up a collection of viewings in one afternoon. An offer for the asking price was received the same day. Matthew's emailed us to ask if we wanted to accept the offer. This was the last communication initiated by them until completion apart from asking for 3 extra viewings by our Purchaser. We and our Vendor's estate agents had to keep chasing them for an update. Their lack of communication is shocking although they did get the job done of selling the house. I don't feel they earned their thousands of pounds in fees as we heard nothing from them for most of the transaction.

Had the most awful experience with this estate agent. My sale started March 21 and has now fallen through mid July 21. After 4 months of being told that our buyers were still interested and there were no problems we discovered that their funds had never been verified properly. The whole experience has left us thousands out of pocket and deeply disappointed. We thought it was a great idea to give our business a local family run firm; I couldn't have been more wrong. It appears the Matthews have taken on more than they can properly deal with. I'm thankful that I haven't had to pay them any money.

We bought through Matthews after our previous house sale fell through with another agent and the difference in service was amazing. Matthews were informative, helpful, friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they were happy to go between us and the seller as many times as we needed. As a result we are delighted with our purchase, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. We definitely think we have found our forever-home but if we ever consider selling I would not hesitate to use them again... and hope we can buy through them again too!

I've had the benefit of the full end-to-end Matthews experience over 8 years. I bought the house through Matthews, had them managing the leasing of it brilliantly, and ultimately sold the property through them too. I have to say it has been an absolute delight throughout the 8 year relationship, and I wouldn't contemplate going with anyone else. James and Matt run an outstanding family business, with a wonderful team. Speedy responses, going the extra mile to just take care of things, and always with great humour. Thank you all. Attempted to purchase property, seller had instructed this agent. From the get go, there was no real motivation to complete the sale. In the first two months there was no work completed at all. Only responds to emails chasing them, no emails or communication is sent off their own backs. Having met Matthew he's clearly very knowledgeable about property and the market, so its shame this didn't translate into sales progression. Eventually lost sale around a week before exchange, a large waste of time and money.

We recently finished renting a flat with Matthews. James is a lovely estate agent, he’s personable, caring and reliable. When we had any issues James would respond within a week and find the best solution. The flat we were in did have some issues that were under the responsibility of the flat property management company, so nothing James could do. Still James would check in on how they were progressing and nudge things where he could. Thanks for the great service James, wish you all the best!

Terrible experience. Estate Agent turned up a few minutes late. After a further few minutes of checking keys and phone calls to the office, it became apparent she also had the wrong set of keys. All of which resulted us in missing our next viewing as well! Highly disappointed and very poor service, with little in the way of an apology.
