I have been using Stewards Auto since moving down to Jacksonville ~4 years ago. They have always been timely, down to earth and just good people. About 8 months ago I brought my car to Stewards (my blinker was working at the time) and when I left the shop, the blinker was not working. I guess they accidentally bumped something during a repair. I called back immediately and he said to bring it in within a year and he'll fix it. Fast forward to this week at Maxi. I called to set up an appointment for Wednesday. My a/c was acting up and I explained the situation about the blinker in regards to the one year situation explained above. I dropped my car off Tuesday night. As Wednesday evening approaches, I still have not heard from them about the status of my car. I call and they say they need to keep it another night (which is fine, but just would have been nice to know earlier in the day as me and my fiancé both work and having one car is tough) Thursday rolls around ~2pm I still haven't heard from them- I call and they say its not ready. I call again around 4pm (1 hour from the shop closing) and he is very kind, explaining the diagnosis, cost and such. I get in my car to pick it up and there are 2 plastic pieces that belong on my steering wheel in the passenger seat. I go back inside and its another 10 minutes for them to put it on. Once I leave I look at the receipt and I was charged $85 for them to "look" at the blinker and not even repair it. I called and explained the situation (again) that Stewards had accidentally broken it and stated that would fix it. They proceeded to say we are a different entity and can't do anything about it. If I had known I would be charged, I would have never mentioned anything. I only asked for convenience considering my car would be in the shop. I know Steward's would have taken care of me as they have for many years. I used to refer this shop to everyone. It is definitely different since the name has changed. I will never be returning to a once amazing car repair shop. Steer clear of this place if you are expecting the same care as Stewards.

I am new enough to the Jacksonville area that I did not have a local ‘go to’ shop for car issues. On a Saturday while at Batteries Plus having the batteries of my car key bob replaced, my car would not start. Austin Curley, Store Manager and his team were very helpful in figuring out the problem. Having only limited diagnostic tools, we reasoned the problem may be the starter. It was suggested that I have the car towed to Maxi Auto Repair, 13700 Fario Road (less than a half mile away), which I did. Although Maxi is closed Saturday and Sunday, I left a detailed message advising of my preventive maintenance to this point. I then took Uber to my hotel. Not knowing what kind of appointments Maxi already had scheduled for that Monday, I was happy to receive a call at 7:45 AM (they open at 7:30 AM). They reviewed my concerns and explained the pricing for diagnostics etc..Within a short period, I received an update. The issue was determined to be the starter which obviously needed to be replaced. I explained that being at a hotel is costly and it would be helpful if the work could be completed by a late checkout time. I then received another update that the work would be completed by noon. I have the vehicle back and all is well to date. In summary: I had a problem and no quick fix. I fortunately got connected with Maxi Auto Repair. They understand the value of communication with a customer; timely and efficient. I have no doubt that the work performed was done so in a workmanlike manner. I now have a local ‘go to’ auto service facility. I would urge others to support small business community enterprises. They are there for us! Tom

My husband was out of town and I found the best mechanic I’ve ever seen work on my car Brad who took care of me like family and unlike other places didn’t take advantage of the fact that it was just me and not my husband and better yet they are all veterans and so is my husband and we support our veterans and military 100% I will never take my car anywhere else they literally are the best and truly care about you as a person you’re not just a number or a price to them like other places you’re a priority and you matter I also really appreciate there kindness they truly care about you and your vehicle I can’t thank them enough and I really appreciate them being upfront and honest also they we’re nice on my wallet and don’t take you to the cleaners like other places also they gave us a discount for being a veteran which really helped us out especially since we had a family emergency and desperately needed a break I suggest that if you’re trying to decide on where to take your vehicle look no further they are hands down the best and I mean that with absolute certainty and confidence

Brad, Emerico and the whole team at Maxi off Fario rd are so wonderful. I usually take my car here for repairs because they are so trustworthy and do the job RIGHT the FIRST time. I can’t say the same for tires plus or any Bridgestone location for that matter because I limped my car in to the closest place I was at the time. Now my car is going through a claims report from hell with a bad repair on a timing belt kit replacement at tires plus ponte vedra. I was able to tow my car to maxi for a trusting diagnostic when said repair at tires plus blew my engine, now my car is totaled. It’s safe to say the maxi auto team KNOWS what it takes for good customer service AND quality repairs/replacements. Brad has been so diligent and patient working with me as my car sits, taking up space on their property. Brad was giving me more info than the claims case manager through bridgestone! Trust me, do yourself a favor and give maxi your money because tires plus are greedy and hire anyone to work in their garage. MAXI FOR THE WIN!! Bravo to Brad and the team. Thank you.

***edit This review is for steward auto repair NOT maxi auto. They have taken over and really messed everything up. They overcharge, under perform, and are not treating anyone well except their pocketbooks. They will upcharge and sell you things you do not need while they hire cheap labor. And they just took over all of the 5star reviews. And no, that’s not normal. What a divergence from the last owners. Really disappointing. They are 3 years old and buy up other businesses to destroy. Complimentary beverages won’t help you when you run everyone off with sketchy business practices. The attitude that they show in their responses proves they are liars and bullies. Never sell you on something you don’t need, very skilled mechanics, quick response, always great service. Well worth going here. Really take care of you, and your car!

Edited to add: I have now been here three times with our Jeep. The customer service is incredible. The communication is something that sticks out. Such great communication. We will continue to bring our jeep here for all our mechanical needs. Brad & every other staff member I have encountered are kind & respectful. I can't say enough. I have been here twice with our jeep. They are great at communicating, which is very important to me. I tend to ask a lot of questions & they don't get annoyed or make me feel stupid like a lot of other shops have. They are prompt & have done a great job both times I have been there. I highly recommend this shop.

I can’t say enough nice things about Maxi Auto Repair. This is the only mechanic I’ve ever been to where I feel I can genuinely trust the things they’re telling me. The staff is very patient and willing to explain exactly what is going on with your car, as well as thoroughly outline any and all options. In addition, the pricing is fair. You can tell these people actually care, which is a rare thing to find these days. They even sent an Uber to come pick me up. I’ve worked with both Brad and Americo and they are both incredibly nice and knowledgeable guys. I highly recommend this company.

This garage has been in business for many years. My brother referred me and I've used them for 1-1/2 years. Both men I have dealt with in the office - Rueben and Jeff - are knowledgeable, experienced, patient and respectful to me as a single woman in explaining issues. They are helping me to maintain two cars with 170K+ miles on them and I trust their advice. They have never tried to "sell" me on a service or push me to set an appointment. They stay busy, I recommend calling to set an appointment. Their hours are better now for working folks to be able to make it on either end.

I called the guys up about what I thought was a busted windshield wiper motor, as well as seeing about a leaking seal on a window. They were very upfront about what they would be performing and the fees associated with it. After a day they called me back to pick up the truck. Turns out it was a loose bolt. They only charged me half price for the diagnostic and fix. I went ahead and had them do the oil change since they were at it. Unfortunately they aren't equipped to handle windows and seals but overall great experience.

I have taken my 2008 Toyota Tundra in here multiple times and this business is on top of their game. I’ve never seen a more thorough inspection on a vehicle in my life (these guys care and pay attention to detail). I got my rotor, brake pads and serpentine belt replaced here. Brad and Cedric were excellent throughout the entire process. Their communication and willingness to truly help me caught my attention and gained my business. If you have a job that needs to be done, they will take care of you and get you rolling right!

I was referred to Maxi's Auto Repair by a friend and I had a very positive experience as well! Brad is amazing and the team did an excellent job getting my car quickly ready for my big trip from Florida to Arizona! I got an inspection done, oil change, 4 struts replaced, front light fixed, windshield wipers replaced, etc. and it felt that my car (and the steering) was driving better than before! I drove over 2400m and everything was fine and my car is still working very well! Very grateful!

My family recommended this shop when I moved into town. It's 25 minutes from my house and worth the drive every time! My boyfriend has visited three other mechanics and FINALLY switched to Steward's because he wasn't satisfied with previous services and being charged for repairs he didn't approve. I have never had any hidden fees. They are always friendly. They call my extended warranty company so I do not have to deal with the hassle. I recommend this place to everyone!

Honesty, that's what stood out about Maxi Auto Repair. They did a full inspection on my vehicle, then texted a web link where I could view all of the details. This was an itemized list of everything they felt needed work with photos, mechanic notes and a priority rating. As I've worked on the car quite a bit myself, I knew everything they suggested was in fact needed. They don't come cheap, but it's definitely worth the peace of mind with so many shady shops out there.

Went to get a coolant line replaced, they originally had to do a diagnosis of the coolant box(area) to insure that that was the issue which cost 165 dollars. As well as afterward once it was confirmed they informed me that in order to replace the line it would be an additional 472 dollars. The service they provided was great, just never went anywhere where the diagnosis fee wasn’t waved when you decided to get the service with them. But other than that they’re great!

Quick service. Clean atmosphere. Incredibly warm and knowledgeable team. Brad goes above and beyond to make sure each client has the best experience and that you truly understand your options, no scare tactics here. Thankfully, I was able to make an appointment for the next day and my vehicle service was completely handled by close of business that day. They also provide a very extensive report (with photos) of maintenance suggestions, which for me is very helpful.

To all the women out there who are not sure where to have your vehicle worked on this is the place. These guys are wonderful. They are honest men and will not screw you. I know that because my brother in law is a car guy for 45 years and he spoke to them. I have been taken advantage of many times because I am a woman. These guys will tell you like it is and will not charge you for unesesary repairs. I have finally found a place I trust. Great experience

Went in for a much overdue oil change and they were able to get me in right away ! Everyone from the store sales associate, the tech , to Mike the manager we’re all amazing and took care of everything for me including a vehicle inspection and also a follow up email making sure everything was working well with my vehicle after they serviced it . Fast, friendly and affordable! I returned to Maxi for an oil change and leak after my dealership subjected me to long waits, no communication and constant pressure trying to sell me hundreds of dollars of services every time I went in for my “free” oil change. Maxi changed my oil, updated me within an hour on leak, completed everything within a couple hours and charged a lot less than the dealership quoted. Thanks!

New to town so I didn’t know what to expect going in, but my experience was awesome. As a woman I hate taking my car in because I usually have no idea what they’re talking about but Jeff and his team left nothing unexplained. Their inspections are detailed and thorough, they take pictures of everything, and they don’t try to sell you on a bunch of stuff you don’t need! My husband and I will definitely be back!

Just moved here to Jacksonville from Chicago and my car wouldn’t start. I called Jeff from Maxi and he got my car in right away and was able to fix it the very next day and a very reasonable cost. He didn’t try to upsell me anything I didn’t need but gave me a good quote on some things that I do need fixed in the near future. I have been coming to Maxi for over ten years now after being referred by a friend. They have always been very thorough and honest. I have never had a bad experience with them. They send a very detailed inspection link with photos to me after each oil change so I can keep track of where everything is at. This was my first time at this location and had another excellent experience!

I really love Maxi Auto Repair. My car broke down and an employee at this facility by name of Mike helped me push my car into their parking lot and took care of my car issues at a reasonable price. Mike also ordered my a ride to come and pick my car up after it was done.Mike was great to me in my situation. I love Maxi Auto and its family oriented vibe.

This is such a great company! This is the second time I have used them on my Nissan Murano and they have fixed the issue ASAP, at a good price. Absolutely wonderful! My 2008 Honda Accord needed some pretty extensive work and Brad was extremely helpful and patient with any questions and concerns I had. He made sure to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and what preventative measures to take for longevity. A great service overall and I will definitely return for any of my car needs!.

Thank goodness there are still honest repair shops out there that do only what needs to be done and then does an excellent job in the process. They have worked on both my Chevy Truck and my Lincoln LS for 5 years and have always done a perfect job and went out of their way to make me happy. I just I could find a Dentist as honest as these people are.

My cars serpentine belt broke while traveling on JTB, had a tow truck drop it off at Maxi. Rueben was very helpful and assured me they would check it out in short order. He quickly called me back and said I only needed a new belt. Part was ordered and installed and I was on my way! Huge thanks to Rueben and the team at Maxi! I’ll definitely be back!!

It is rare that you come across a business with such integrity. A part they installed failed within a week of the repair. Maxi did not hesitate to take full ownership and fix the situation under their warranty. I love how much pride this shop takes in the quality of their work and the customer care. Maxi Auto Service changed my oil and remedied a leaking tire valve while I waited yesterday. I found Brad and others I interacted with to be polite, friendly and professional. The cost of services were in line with other shops I have used. I will be using Maxi Auto for maintenance and repairs for both of my vehicles in the future.

Great service. Found them per my AAA membership. Went for a oil change. Good price and got a great inspection report with no high pressure to fix anything. Just here is the report need this done fast and this can wait. Will be back to get the items taken care of. Remember you pay for quality and service. This place is both.

I went to Maxi for a hole in my heater core. It was an outrageously expensive fix, yet staff worked hard to work with my budget and come up with a creative solution that saved my car engine. For an entire year I was dealing with an antifreeze leak, and they helped me save my engine and my pocket book from bankruptcy.

Was having problems with the A/C and check engine light. Maxi Auto Repair did a fine job of diagnosing both issues and repairing both for far less money than I thought it would cost. Now all cool and running much better. Friendly, knowledgeable, and they gave us a military discount. I’ll certainly use them again!

Competitive prices and great service. My license plate bolts were rusted into my car - a Jax dealership ripped out my license plate and broke off a screw into the back of my trunk and quoted me over $400+ to fix. Maxi fixed my problem in an hour for way less of the cost and hassle. Very appreciative!

Came in for an oil change. They did an overall inspection and found the cabin air filter (way beyond) dirty. Good thing. I didn’t even know that car had an internal air filter.
