"The Temple is beautiful and the energy is palpable yet spoiled by the small group of Temple Members"
"Amazing temple"
"Melrose Temple is safe to visit"
"Beautiful temple but needs a new Guru"
"One of the oldest temples in South Africa, deep in maintaining culture and history"
The Temple is beautiful and the energy is palpable yet spoiled by the small group of Temple Members. Went to Radhe Shyam last night for Shivrathri. Such a wonderful experience, good vibes and lovely people. Then went to Melrose temple. The members are a small group of Melanin heavy unspiritual humans? Can I call them that even. I tried to have a sweetmeat froma tray and Mrs Midnight or rather Navy blue in complexion grabs the tray away from me. I didn't know to feel offended or embarrassed. The members here are all about money making and running the temple like a Cabal. May their gods bless them with some spirituality in the future and common courtesy
Amazing temple. Current management is very good. Just need better coordinatation for Kavady- waited almost 3 hours before we could offer our milk to Lord Muruga. Understandable that its a huge festival and thousands turn up but used to be better coordinated before covid. Other than that would highly recommend this temple.
Melrose Temple is safe to visit. Proper temperature checks and hand sanitization is done, before you enter the temple. Proper social distancing is followed. Mask is necessary to enter premises. Please do check the opening and closing time before visiting.
Beautiful temple but needs a new Guru. The older guru spends more time on whatsapp and seems annoyed to do his duties. Rather get a priest who performs his duties happily than begrudgingly. Can't be gossiping on whatsapp with Cookie etc when opening book
One of the oldest temples in South Africa, deep in maintaining culture and history. Definitely a must see. The temple is always very well maintained and safe and boasts a family of peacocks that chirp in the background while you offer your prayers.
Hare KRISHNA Absolutely blissful experience at this Awesome temple Loved it especially when the peacock came to listen to me chanting ❤ GOD bless you Jay Sri KRISHNA ALLAH JESUS ❤ …
They rude on the phone, reluctant to assist. Most probably big smiles for donations only. I called for a date for a prayer, the woman who answered seemed in a bad mood she just dropped the phone. I called again no answer.
If you are an Indian and missing temple in South Africa then visit this place. You gonna love temple is big and neat & clean well maintained it has a lot of idols of Lords with nine planets (greh) …
It was spiritually uplifting and an experience that I will continue to enjoy by visiting Melrose Temple frequently from now on. The organization of the Kavady festival by all involved was awesome!!
A must place to visit for Hindus in Johannesburg. Built 180 years before. Gandhi use to visit this temple often when he lived in South Africa. One of the first temple to be built in Gauteng.
Open only for Car Prayers with set prices for certain types of cars. This isn't a spiritual place at all! The focus is on money and the trustees are the worst looking and not good people
If you doing nine Saturdays, this temple has the nine statues. Efficient and well organized. Book reading available by appointment @R50. Tranquil environment. Tamil lessons available.
Peaceful atmosphere, enlightening experience and simply beautifully designed. Definitely worth a visit especially during major prayer festivals, it's an unforgettable experience.
The temple grounds needs a clean up. Peacock droppings all over the place, it's like walking through a minefield. If you going to keep these birds, please clean up after them.
Amazing temple ! Great vibration ! I think I was just worried about my car when I did not park in an enclosed area (on the road) with no security supervision.
Took my wife there for her religious ritual at an appointed time, she was kept waiting for well over an hour. No respect for people's time and schedules
The temple is beautiful with an auspicious energy but is let down by that older priest from Durban who is constantly moody and on WhatsApp.
So much of peacock droppings, it's difficult to walk around the temple. The priest from durban is rude, always on whatsapp or drunk.
Beautiful temple and peaceful environment ❤️
