We had a group of 10 people that we had reserved ahead of time. Our server was lovely, albeit a bit vacant. The appetizers were all really delicious, but it all fell apart shortly after that. I used to serve, so I’m generally quite tolerant of oversights, but our experience overall left us very…disappointed. Our reservation was for 7:00. By the time we had all arrived, it was quarter after. So if you’re generous on how long it took us to order, we ordered by 7:30. Latest. Now, 10 people is a fair number of people, but we didn’t just walk in off the street. We booked a good amount of time in advance, and the restaurant should have had enough time to make sure that they were adequately staffed for the reservation and the other tables they would have for the night. We received our appetizers quite promptly, but we didn’t receive our food until about 9:00 PM. It took literally an hour and a half to get our food from the time we ordered it. It took so long that one of our party had to leave before they even got their food in order to take care of their dog. There was even another party of 8 who ordered after us, and they were packing up their food by the time we had received ours. The server was apologetic and offered us salad while we were waiting, but by that time, we didn’t want to eat more food. We just wanted to get what we ordered and get out. I’m honestly surprised that the manager didn’t take the time to come over by that time and apologize. We got our food finally, but one member of our party didn’t even receive his order and ate the food of the person who had left because he didn’t want to wait any longer. I had ordered the lamb shank based on several reviews saying it was delightful. What I got looked like a blackened, shrivelled up piece of meat that wasn’t even hot - I think it sat under their heat lamp for maybe an hour (unfortunately it was dark in the restaurant and the photo didn’t turn out, but I’ll add it anyway). The asparagus was so so sad, not to mention there was enough rice pilaf to feed a starving family of 4, which I’m assuming was meant as an attempt to make up for the lack of quality, but just ended up being unbelievably wasteful. My final comment was the gender neutral bathroom upstairs was horrifyingly filthy. I haven’t seen a toilet that disgusting since I was in university at the dive-y bars that we used to frequent, and I spend a lot of time in the outdoors in public outhouses, which is saying a lot. There was explosive poop all over the toilet, and the rings around the water line suggested they hadn’t cleaned the thing in at least a month. Basically, I never want to go back here, and usually I tell my husband often you can’t decide if you like or dislike a place based on one experience. We’re not from san diego, so will not be back. Ever.

I bought these synergy gift cards from Costco and this place was on the list. The food and drinks were great. Lamb chops are fantastic! The service was just too much. It became very apparent how disorganized it is by having several people coming up to us to grab our order. Seems like they don’t assign a server to the table but everyone works as a team. That’s what they said. That’s is perfectly fine if they can execute it properly. We ordered drinks and appetizers with one person then the second person comes and we have to summarize all that. He takes our food order and everything seems okay until we start receiving someone else’s appetizers. We tell them that we didn’t order that. They leave and come back again with it, we assure them we didn’t order a cheese plate so they leave again and finally I see them figure it out and give it to the table across us. Then as we’re trying to enjoy ourselves, we numerous people coming up and asking how everything is going. We keep telling them that everything is good. I leave for the bathroom and come back to my partner telling me that 3 different people came by and asked if we want a box and asking how everything is going. It’s super disorganized and tough to enjoy the meal when you have people constantly interrupting.

Went to here as a meeting point before opening day...never been. Restaurant was clean and well presented. Not sure what previous space was prior to Meze, but revamp wasn't cheap and well done. Menu was all across board and something for everyone (vegans, sandwiches, meat entrees, tapas, salads). I wasn't drinking this visit, but loved the selection of Ouzo that I had never heard of. Menu layout made all items easy to navigate. Service started out solidly, but tailed off as restaurant filled up with baseball fans. This was expected though with such vicinity to stadium. But she and support team were very nice. Manager even checked in with us and actively working floor which separates really good venues from bad. Menu had something for everyone. Food was solid and saganaki presentation was worth getting just for that. My Greek friend enjoyed his meal but stated all recipes weren't that traditional. However, don't think it was trying to be that traditional. Was nice stop for appetizers before game and won't turn down option if decided as meeting place before game again. However, so many choices in vicinity not sure if it will be top of list when choosing where to go. Value is there too as check was $100 with tip. Solid operation in tough market...these guys are doing the right things. Worth a try.
Absolute no go for vegetarians !! We were pretty hungry and opted for Mediterranean, but due to thanksgiving day, this was one of the few open places close to our stay. We chose the restaurant due to its high reviews too. We ordered a side of fries and 2 falafel plates and I’m at a loss for words on how terrible the food tasted! Quantity given - 5 falafels, some greens and veggies on the side, about 6 pieces of pita, hummus and tahini. The falafels were oversized and undercooked, almost raw on the inside. The hummus tasted nothing like it should and the bread was certainly not pita. Not sure if the high ratings are for the non vegetarian menu but the vegetarian options are a definite no! The fries were average at best. Simply put, the best thing on our order was the tomato ketchup.

This place is just okay. You will be paying tourist prices and getting tourist service just by virtue of where it's at. Like most "just okay" places, some items are good and some items are not so good. For appetizers, their hummus is good, but their potatoes are literally just sitting in a butter bath. I ordered the most expensive thing which was like a meat combo plate and added on lamb chops. 50$ meal, didn't come with any pita or anything. One of the combo meats is filet mignon. I asked for it medium rare, it came out well done. When the waitress was taking my order, I had to tell her I wanted it medium-rare. I was not asked, so that should have been the first indication that cooking meat to your liking is not a priority. The rest of the food was okay. The rice was a little bit too oily but good. I lived in Downtown for 10 years and lived nearby and never been to this place. I came the other night because our work had an event downtown and this was the place chosen. It was fine because I didn't have to pay, but I won't be coming back if I'm spending money on it

Okay Service. Okay Food. Okay Prices. We went for Brunch on Sunday, a new menu they offer so we were pretty excited about it! Took a while to get seated, and we ended up sitting outside. Looking around, especially at the entrance, the pipes and infrastructure looks like its never been clean, a lot of flies and grossed me out a wee bit. We ordered our food, wife got a Greek Salad, and I got Steak Benedict. Neither one was inspired. My wife got the worse end of the stick, her salad looked like it came from a McDonalds, just Iceberg Lettuce, chunks of cucumber and tomato with some onions and feta cheese. A five year old could have made it. Just boring. My food was a little better, they never asked for a temperature on the steak so that kinda bummed me out. Midway through, our server refilled my water, realized he poured a dead fly into my drink, fished it out with his finger, and only when I gave a grossed out look did he get me a new glass. Overall, for the price and what we got from the price, I don't think we'll be returning. Their brunch menu needs some work, and the outside needs to be cleaned.
Alright, so you’ve already found this? Good! You won’t regret it. Read on: it’s worth it! From the moment you walk in, you’re walking into one of the smoothest eateries in San Diego. It’s dark, it’s moody, and it’s beautiful. The air smells of pita bread and meat, the drinks pour smooth and strong, and the food melts in your mouth. From flaming cheese and delicious large shrimp, to perfectly cooked steaks; this place will have your taste buds roaring! We were served by Adriana and Malcolm, and I’ve got to say: both are top notch and know the menu perfectly. Their suggestions had our mouths watering, and our stomachs full by the end. Both are high class servers, and I highly recommend asking for them. You’re in the mood for a treat? Come to Meza. You need a salad? Come to Meza. You want to spoil the one you love? Come to Meza! This place will not disappoint. Check my pictures out from my time there, and then stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

Great full service greek food. They have some super interesting drinks and a good wine list. My only gripe is they keep the music pretty loud so probably not great for groups larger than 4. But it was a Saturday night and they had a performer dancing through the restaurant as well, so maybe weeknights are better. The tomato basil and regular hummus is fantastic. Definitely a good starter. The cilantro jalapeño is heavy on the cilantro and light on the jalapeno, reminiscent of guacamole, the other 2 are just so much better that I wouldn’t order that one again. Gyro plate was excellent. Big thick pieces of gyro with fantastic flavor. The tzatziki is a little reminiscent of blue cheese, but it goes well with the gyro. It was a lot of food, I might do the appetizer version next time. Also got to try a lamb shank which was fantastic and a piece of chicken off of the combo plate which was pretty dry sadly. Overall a little pricey, but good for clients or a nice night out.
We walked past this place during the day and couldn’t resist coming back for dinner…it was absolutely the perfect choice for our party of 12! They had a variety of food which fit a variety of taste pallets, vegetarian, and gluten free needs. Tons of options for evening from drinks, to dinner, to dessert! They even had a private room which accommodated our group perfectly and a very attentive wait staff. I would 100% go back and have already recommended it to others visiting the Gaslamp District. Definitely order a dish served on fire…try the Greek-a-mole, and the baklava cheesecake!

This place is amazing. The service was great as expected. The belly dancing was exciting, fun, interactive and beautiful. She is absolutely beautiful lady and made me feel special by involving me in her dance because they told her it was my birthday. She goes around to EVERYONE and she does this awesome fire dance and beautiful light show/dance. You have to visit this place for sure. Very fair priced food. Alot of seating. Reservation available. The food is Soo good. We ordered a table full of appetizers and everything was cooked great and was full of flavor. I'm a local and this is a gem!!

I had the chicken kabob and lemon potatoes. I wasn't too hungry so I only ate the chicken kabob and took the potatoes home. I tried my partner's lemon soup and the soup was incredible. I loved it. The chicken kabob was super flavorful and cooked nicely. The presentation was pleasantly upscaled, matching the atmosphere. My problem with the atmosphere was how cold it was when we walked in due to the large garage door being open in the front. They closed it without being asked, but it took some time to warm up. My dad was cold. It was also a tad loud inside, but I wouldn't ask them to turn the music down because it matches all the lights and the feeling of the big art pieces.

We had a private dinner at Meze in a private are and it was amazing. One of the best Greek food I’ve ever eaten. We had the chance to try most of the menu from hummus, tzatziki to salmon and baklava. Everything was super tasty, hit the spot especially the dessert. Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice plan to enjoy dinner with a great staff in a well decorated restaurant.

Came here before a concert. This is a very convenient location that is closed to the stadium (walking distance). There are a lot of parking structures around the area as well. Our server is very attentive, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. Salute! We ordered humus and egg plant as appetizers. Humus had nothing special, but I like the flavor of the egg plant. It was perfect with the flat bread. I ordered watermelon feta salad with gyro ($12 + $6). The salad comes with watermelon, veggie, goat cheese, olive, and walnuts. The salad dressing is made with strawberry and it was leaning towards the sweet side. I like how it tasted. The salad plate was filling, especially with some protein with it. I will come back again for sure.
This place is absolutely amazing. Everything from the food to our service was phenomenal. It was our first time eating here and it hit every mark. The handcrafted cocktails were delicious, I tried the Mykonos Shine at our waiter’s suggestion and (although Gin is not my flavor profile) the cocktail was smooth and tasty.

They had plenty of options for kids (not on the menu) and they made our 18 month old feel welcome even during dinner service . You can order the Mac and cheese not spicy, cheese pizza, pasta with butter or plain marinara.
Tonight's experience truly left a lasting impression on me. The three essential elements of a restaurant—ambiance, service, and food—were flawlessly executed. I wouldn't change a single thing. Initially, I felt a bit anxious when I realized there would be live performers approaching the tables. However, both the performers and servers treated us with such warmth and kindness that all my worries melted away, and I instantly felt welcomed and at ease. The inviting atmosphere they created quickly became familiar and enjoyable. Furthermore, when our food arrived, it exceeded my expectations in terms of taste and quality. I'm delighted to have discovered Meze, and I'm already eagerly anticipating my next visit.
Easily my favorite Greek restaurant in San Diego is Meze. The food is always solid, the atmosphere is great, on the right night you’ll catch fire dancers and a Magician! This place is a vibe. My go to is the chicken souvlaki plate, but I’ve had almost everything and it’s all bomb. The owner, Patrick, always gives solid recs if you aren’t sure what to get. The tacos are surprisingly good too! Valerie was my server and she was great! Quick, friendly, and a great attitude! They have great, great hot sauce. You have to try it! Love Meze and can’t wait to come back! Opa!

The restaurant is in the middle of downtown Gaslamp district. I came here for a business meeting plus the restaurant was across the street from my hotel. The atmosphere is a laid back vibe and cool ambience. I tried the saganaki and it was delicious. The bread was moist and the cheese was sharp with just a hint of lemon. I also had the falafel plate hands down one the best falafels I’ve ever had. Delicious. I definitely will be coming back

Attracted to this place first just by looking at the outside! Appealing and open, just invites you right in. Once inside, you can see all the little details in the ornamentation and it truly adds a little extra to the experience. Service was very nice and helpful, we were seated immediately and drink orders taken very fast. Food was also delivered quite quickly and we all receive our food in a timely manner which is impressive since we had a group of 7. Everything we ordered was delicious and some were recommendations from the server which were fabulous. Great experience here!
Wonderful experience! The wait staff was great and the food came out quickly even though we had a table of 10. The cold appetizer plate was amazing and had enough to share with everyone. I got the combo souvlaki which has chicken, filet mignon, lamb and shrimp. It was phenomenal. The baklava cheesecake was good but I didn’t love it, but I think it was just because it wasn’t my preference but the quality was still great. I will be dreaming of this meal until the next time I’m in San Diego

I call it world class restaurant because of not only yummiest food selections with outstanding service but enjoying all these under the mesmerizing ambience. It's a jewel in the downtown San Diego. They do have best chef for the Greek cuisine as well as top wine selections. Also, worth noting that it is a kid friendly restaurant with lots of options for them. Parking is street side or garage nearby. Restroom is on site. Note- ask for cozy corner side with covered area if party with 10-12 people.
A very unexpected surprise eating at this place. While they have a lot of traditional Greek fare, their fusion dishes are what you want to try. They are vegetarian friendly and I tried the quesadillas and their tacos. Yes you read that right. Both were incredibly delicious. The highlight was their bar, where they made the best Old Fashioned's that I've had.

One thing I find absurd about this place is they charge credit card transaction fee. Doesn't matter you have $50 check or $100. I feel I would have added more tip to the server if the establishment wouldn't have charged the transaction fee. Have been in California for 7 years and never have came across any restaurant of this scale acting so cheap. Food is good and ambience is good as well.

Maybe my expectations were set too high with all the 4.5 stars. But the food was okay, but the service was lacking. We were still eating out appetizers and they brought our entrees out. We did complain to the person that brought it out and she just ignored us and walked away. I could understand if they were looking to move the table but it was 3 in the afternoon and the place was half empty. Btw my wife was not impressed with her seafood dish..my chicken was okay
It was a too dark inside, I mean for my taste, food is good. I tried the Moussaka. Which was close to the homemade version. The béchamel sauce was too thick compared to what I am used to as a Mediterranean person. But the taste was on point. Service is amazing

Pretty okay, but nowhere I would return to. The meatball and the fiery feta appetizers were tasty. The cocktails were also pretty good. Unfortunately every piece of meat in the combo souvlaki was dry and bland, which is disappointing for an expensive dish. It was very busy but no one ever came to clear finished plates, making it awkward to eat around the empty appetizer plates on a small table.

Food was delicious! Giving 4 stars because my burger was a lil raw in the middle. Didn’t notice it until I had already taken a bite Otherwise atmosphere was fantastic and what we ordered was wonderful. I didn’t get sick from the raw burger meat so that’s a win in my book.
Excellent dinner with excellent service. Our waitress was great but left so our new waitress was equally pleasant. Recommend this restaurant.

This is by far one of the most authentic and yet unique Greek restaurants we have been to! Greek classics and some new twists, and I'm half Greek so I know the good stuff... :) Service and atmosphere were amazing too!

The calamari was delicious (especially with their hot sauce) and the lamb tacos were good too. Very friendly servers, and nice outside and inside dining areas.

My favorite restaurant in all of San Diego. Food is constantly perfect. Was last here 7 years ago and it remains s top-notch!! While you are here try the Septum beer—It’s delish!
One of my favorite restaurants in the country now. The Lamb Shank was probably the best Lamb dish that I've ever had...

A delicious Greek restaurant in the Gaslamp District. Great food, awesome service and a ton of cool people on the weekends. Definitely worth checking out.
