Ask for quotes before authorising any work. Definitely do not trust urgency without seeing the part yourself. Booked in my 03 Prado for a service after discussing kms and age we agreed upon general items such as oils, filter and general checkover. Overall, service was friendly and straight forward. Unfortunately this is where the buck stops. My partner who is not mechanically inclined delivered the vehicle as I was at uni, on arrival she was told the vehicle was older than expected and would need a more intensive service. I then received a call about 2 hours later which I couldn't answer, my partner was contacted and asked to authorise, oils for diffs, transfer, gearbox (sealed unit from factory, not recommended to be serviced) that were made apparent to her to require urgent attention along with an AC fan belt that was cracking even though this was replaced when the AC system was overhauled under 5,000ks ago and rear pads and rotors. I was charged 1800 total with excessive markup (~$5-$10 on top of consumer retail) on parts that wasn't noticed until after I grew suspicious. Along with 7 hours labour when the car was only in the shop for 6.... On top of this the brake, coolant and power steering was overfilled causing brake fluid to leak over the engine bay. (Pictures below taken when the engine was cold after I noticed the brake fluid) Called the shop looking to gain some insight as to my invoice. Informed that labour is charged as a general charge per job rather than what is actually required to complete the work and that the markup is apart of their business model and that this is industry standard as such they wouldn't be willing to budge

These guys help me out when I was in a pickle. I was driving home to the sunshine coast when a very loud rattle started in my car. I stopped by the road to try and figure out what it was when a passerby recommended I go to Midas Northgate because " they are good people." I'm so glad I took their advice. The Midas guys helped me immediately - test drove my car, put it up on the hoist, found the problem (which was a bracket that had come loose and was rattling around in the wheel ...associated with work I had just had done on my car on the coast). They offered to fix it then and there, but I figured the people who made the mistake should repair it. So they then got the loose bracket out which was a bit fiddly, and gave it to me to take to my mechanic on the coast., and assured me that the car was safe to drive home. They took the time to help me, with care and super efficiency, (at 3pm on a Friday afternoon!) and didn't charge me a cent. So a big shout out to these helpful, efficient, "good guys". If I lived near them that's where I'd be taking my car! Thank you for your help today Midas Northgate! It was really appreciated... more than you are likely to know!

I went to this shop yesterday arvo 15/3/22 for a quote on new tyres, the guy at the counter said he will see how much the tyres are on his computer, doesnt even ask the size of the tyre only if I want expensive ones or cheap ones, I foolishly said ill pay $200 a tyre and I am after cheap ones for my grand vitara, he then pretends to be looking up the price on the computer by hitting buttons, I can clearly see the computer screen and that he is actually doing nothing then he plays around on his calculator pretending to hit buttons then lifts his head up and tells me 200 bucks a tyre, at this stage I was no longer interested in buying from midas I said no then he kept pushing asking what was my budget, I said I am no longer interested and left. I really want to support small business but not when they are being crooks, I know the tyres im after abd the cheapest ones are 150 a tyre, I hope this review for whoever reads deters you from visiting them but if it doesnt I hope you are aware of them as I was yesterday.

I booked for my car to have the back tyres changed. I made the mistake to advise the staff member/owner that I wanted to check that they were opened on Saturdays as I was planning to purchase through a third party website and have them delivered and fitted at Tyreplus Northgate. After speaking to them, I decided to book the service directly with them. The appointment was for 2 weeks time. The following Monday (2 days later), I called in to cancel the appointment, when the guy told me arrogantly that there was going to be a restocking fee. I always endeavour to try to help independent small businesses but when they lie to your face like this, I have absolutely neither respect or support. He has told basically the tyres have already arrived when the suppliers don't work on the weekends and we all know that the delivery network with transport is extremely slow at the moment!! DO NOT TRUST THIS TYRE SHOP, they will try to rip you off.

To everyone needing new tyres and rims (including lifts and suspension) anywhere in and all surrounding areas of Brisbane, do yourself and favour a travel that little bit more then what you’d normally do. After getting Chris to source me new BF Goodrich tyres and new rims for my patrol, I took it down to them for fitment. I tried to make the new tyres fit my patrol without lifting first, however they ended up scrubbing on the mud flap ‍♀️ Chris then blew me away with his customer service- he offered to bring them up to my own home in Elimbah! A good 50 minute drive (plus traffic) on a Saturday after he closed shop! Not only was chris competitive on price, and an all round top bloke- this type of service blew me away, and definitely needs to be seen by others. Thank you again Chris, you’ve now created a customer for life, and will be ensuring everyone else I know, see’s you first!

Amazing service today from a friendly and professional local business! Took a vehicle in for a suspect tire problem (first time customer) - the owner took the trouble to drop me back to the office in Banyo which saved me getting an uber. Then when i went to pick the car up they found no problem with the tyre (maybe an overdue service causing a faulty sensor) and didnt charge me! Highly recommend you go see Chris (the owner) or Brad for all your tyre needs... thanks guys! (this will be my go to place for tyres from today)

The manager at Midas Northgate was fantastic. My wife ended up with a screw in the tread of our SUV. The team fitted us in that morning, got the puncture fixed right away, and the cost was a lot less than we expected. We have since had a lot of other mechanical work here and had several tyres fitted, and it has all been superbly done. All of the team, from the manager Chris down to the guy who backed our car out for us, were friendly, polite, and completely professional. Thanks!

Ill be the first to say, finding a direct, straight-shooting mechanic has been an issue for me. I went in to see Chris, with what I thought was a Major issue with my pride and joy. He diagnosed, and fiexed the issue within 20 minutes. And...is was very cost-effective. Explained it straight, and put me back on the road the same day Highly recommend these guys, its a 10 out if 10 from me.

My dad was a mechanic for almost 50 years before he retired, so I can recognise a mechanical business that cares about providing quality, good value service. Chris and the guys noticed and took care of a few minor things on my car during its service at no extra charge, as well as providing me with recommendations for larger issues. Tyeplus Northgate is one of the good ones.

Called up about a slow puncture. Was told to bring the car in and they'd take a look at it. Got there early in the morning and the problem was found and fixed in under half an hour. The price was very affordable. Staff at front desk were friendly/helpful. Checked my other tyre pressures as well. Didn't try and sell me anything extra I didn't need. Highly recommend.

Great! Chris understood the type of tyre I was after and provided a good suggestion which I went with. Quick to get stock. Work performed well. Good communication. Originally from the southside however noticed my tyres were in shocking condition while at a northside job and despite been fully booked Chris managed to squeeze me in for new tyres ensuring i made it home safely. Chris' customer service is second to none and i will definitely be making the trip up in the future for further maintenance!

Chris at Tyreplus was incredibly helpful, walking me through tyre and suspension options. Chris also went above and beyond to set me up for some other work with a local auto-electrician. The new owner Jack was great. I had the wrong part installed under the last owner and was causing issues. I didn't know this when I bought it back in and Jack was honest about what had happened and replaced for free. Great experience.
