This organization solicited organizers of the Old Town Art Fair to offer artists parking at the temple during the show. The price printed in the vendor packets was $200. My friend, who traveled a thousand miles to participate in the event, drove her truck through Old Town during rush hour on a Friday after setting up her booth. When she got to the temple the staff asked her for $400. She showed them the printed offer; they told her that was wrong. After another hour in traffic she found public parking, not listed in the vendor packet, for less than $200. We informed the art fair organizers of this bait-and-switch. Hopefully, the temple won't be officially recommended to artists for parking in future fairs.
Just received word they are silencing individuals and teachers into not speaking about the genocide occurring. Very disappointed and I will not be associating further with organization. it is not what buddhism stands for. disappointing honestly. I used to come here years ago and its sad its gone extremely down hill (clearly...) I hope they learn to stand for injustice one day and not stay silent against world atrocities and war crimes. (or kick an instructor out because they chose to honor whats happening?)

MWBT or Midwest Buddhist Temple offers the Chicago Community a place to learn pray and celebrate. The Japanese Temple is open to everyone and I was lucky to be in town during a three day Ginza festival. I was impressed with the organization and quality of the event. Parking is not easy but welcome to Chicago it’s a safe place to walk and beautiful neighborhood just down the street from old town. I’ve been here for sad times and for celebrations. I look forward to see the Buddhist temple keep giving back,
When I googled Midwest Buddhist temple it showed that they were open. They were not open, so I was disappointed. Usually, when I visit a ciy I see of they have a Buddhist temple. Went to this one, and unfortunately it was locked down. Usually, if they're closed you can still walk around.

I havnt been here in years. They had a ginza holiday back in 2012 and i still have the flyer and coupon. I loved it. When i left i almost thought i was Japanese. Hopefully theyll do it again this year and i can bring my kids, im sure they would like it as much as myself, or more!
The most welcoming people I have ever met. I went to the Midwest Buddhist Temple not as a tourist, but as a believer in Jodo Shinshu Buddhism. The people there are the most sincere and welcoming people I have ever met. Namu Amida Butsu. I am grateful for meeting them. Gassho
I felt so welcome there, and the information on Shin Bhuddism was so interesting. The festival has long been one of my favorites and I was glad it was back

I feel odd reviewing my Temple but... We have the best Shin Buddhism anywhere! Shin-Zen style meditation twice a week. Great activities all year and the best Ginza festival this side of, well... Ginza.
We attended the regular Sunday service. Rev. Todd was incredibly gracious and gave us a tour of the Japanese garden. Can't wait to come back!

It's a good place to learn about Buddhism. They also do online if you're not able to attend. They also have various classes They try to accommodate everyone
I love coming here every Wednesday evening for meditation. It's my favorite way to recalibrate and put myself in the right mindset to end the week strong.
Beautiful temple, wonderful teachers and people. Maintains the beauty and uniqueness of traditional Jodo Shinshu in the heart of Chicago.
Came here for Ginza Fest, and it was so amazing and relaxing. It's great that they host festivals like that too :)
I Met Rev Ron through Skype and I believe they're one of the best community to spread Jodo ShinShu!
Nice calm spot but I got kicked out of the garden for no good reason
