Had an interview for a Business Intelligence Developer role scheduled to occur at the Internet cafe in the canteen, despite the sign on the door indicating it would be closed when the interview was scheduled to occur. Not surprisingly, the interview was interrupted by canteen staff ordering us to leave as it was closing for the day! My concentration was completely thrown off guard as I was forced to walk a long way with the careless, disorganised interviewers as they located a spare room. The risk should not have been taken to book the interview at the canteen, especially when other rooms were available. In the corporate environment, this could be the difference between securing a client and losing a client. I was out of energy and lost focus, thereby damaging my performance, hence I didn't get the job. However, due to the impression the incident left with me, I would have withdrawn my application regardless of the decision. I would also highlight a number of double standards involved. 1) They freely read out questions from sheets of paper and information about the Trust, yet had the nerve to command me to put my notes away despite the fact the answers required were DETAILED and difficult to memorise perfectly beforehand. Of course, I refused to comply with their outlandish request. 2) They inferred (believe it or not!) that me not wearing a tie would not be very suitable when meeting with external clients. OH REALLY? Would something as silly, small-minded as that spark a negative impression to clients? Or would something like meeting clients in a room scheduled to be closed shortly after in a building where PLENTY of spare rooms exist (which is what happened in my case) create a negative impression? The double standards are glaringly obvious. Moreover, they freely admitted the Trust is in debt, giving you even more reason not to work there as your job security may be at risk if they want to cut costs on human resources.

I was a patient at Specialist Addictions Unit, part of Mile End Hospital for over a decade. All I was given was script after script of methadone which didn't help with my heroin usage, it added to it, being a harmful substance in its own right. I had the most kind and caring gentleman as my key worker, Peter Gourvich. He always gave me a safe space to talk and I felt warmth and compassion in his company. Unfortunately as there is so little funding for rehabs in England, he was unable to suitably support me and my life got worse and worse. I'm lucky to be alive. Eventually my parents paid for me to go to rehab and I learnt the skills and steps to take to embark on recovery from heroin addiction and all the trauma that goes with it. Peter was a beacon of kindness and I'll not undermine how he helped me on an emotional level given the circumstances. I also suffer from Schizophrenia. I was taken to Globe Ward in Mile End Hospital in 2010. Compared to the psychiatric wards in other parts of London and England, Globe Ward was like a health spa resort (intended eggageration). I was given a neuro psychologist, a benefits adviser from MIND, sign posted to other sources of support for discharge, given medication etc. There was also good groups like art, relaxation therapy, drumming and even a gym. This ward is another world from say, Springfield hospital in Tooting where I rarely got any attention or support, the atmosphere was one of fear and trauma and unsafely and on Ward 1 of Springfield hospital I was attacked badly by a security nurse unprovoked to the best of my knowledge and then taken to accident and emergency to have stitches. There are vast differences between the two hospitals and my experience of them. Mile End all round is a good hospital but we do need more funding for the addiction services provided as often help in the community isn't enough.

I went there for my fybromyalgia and chronic fatigue with other health issues including chronic insomnia. I was told by Paula Bronson from persistent pain clinic MDT, that they can't offer me any help and i just into get up set my alarm, like everybody else and get on with exercise and stuff. When i asked can you offer physiotherapy to strengthen my arms and legs joints, she rudely replied 'A horse can be taken to a lake but cannot be forced to drink from it!' I was appalled and thought how unprofessional to be in a position where you have no understanding or compassion for those who suffer from chronic fatigue and pain. Why demotivate someone if you can't uplift and encourage or motivate? That day I barely slept 2hrs, woke up at 8am to attend the appointment on time to hear this! I've been working with all these conditions since the past 20 years! I'm not lazy, the way she compared me with a horse! Absolutely horrible to be in a position instead of helping chronically ill patients to misuse and make people feel so low who are already going through so much and finding it a struggle to do daily tasks.

Rheumatologist Alessandra Nerviani has been tremendous, she has been the only person to actually give me answers and a diagnosis to my long term suffering from pain. Although I've seen other consultants for my treatments and follow ups (not at Mile end) they were not consistent, nor informative & too many appointments months apart with no sign of progress towards my diagnosis. I was put off and didn't continue. Dr Nerviani on the other hand assessed me & also arranged tests /scans right away so that the next time I had an appointment I didn't have to see her face to face and was able to conveniently speak to her over the phone regarding my reports.. I am however still waiting on the physical report but I understand this can take a little longer. I starred down for the physiotherapy department. This is because my first therapist Diane who I won't recommend as well as reception staff a young girl who was rudely speaking out loudly regarding my appointments.

I’m not one to write reviews normally but had an amazing experience here from all the staff I encountered. I came in for a colonoscopy which I was initially very hesitant and uncomfortable about. Every person I met with since arriving assured me that everything would be okay from the receptionist to the nurses and those that were completing the procedure. A big thank you to the three girls who looked after me as I was doing my colonoscopy. I was really embarrassed and shy about it but they put me at ease and ended up having a few jokes here and there - next thing I knew the process was done and thankfully nothing serious was found. The facilities were also great and everything was handled promptly. I didn’t feel like there was any unnecessary waiting around. Only writing this review because of the the amazing staff and would definitely emphasise to anyone that was hesitant about this hospital that there is nothing to worry about.

Most staff seemed friendly enough but once we'd tramped what seemed like miles - we both use a stick - the woman at X Ray didn't have a clue. My friend had to stand for 20 minutes while the woman made calls & finally found my friend's details. Then, she couldn't have the x Ray 'cos she' s on antibiotics! Could they not have said in the appt letter to call if I'll and/or on antibiotics! So we spent a lot of time messing about for nothing. Found the 'restaurant'. The hot food looked disgusting but we stuck to sandwiches plus chips which were very nice! But the price! Ridiculous. The place was clean but lacked something. Hard to pin point it. We then spent ages trying to track down a loo! Overall we were disappointed. The radiography staff themselves were very pleasant. What is it with receptionists everywhere? They're either useless or rude - usually both!

overall distressing and upsetting experince, badly managed and lack of clear patient communications about written rehabiltation treatment plans. Complaints are not taken seriouly and a blame culture exists with staff scapegoating other departments and taking no responsibility for mistakes right up to conultant levrl. The sport and dance clinic know little about dance rehabilitation or foot injuries and have delayed my return to teaching by a further 4 months having referred me to the general hospital and not the dance sport clinic. I have decided to go to UCL international dance and sport clinic as i fell last week in dance and while walking from a shooting nerve pain as my foot is not ok - even though the senior physio told me to put normal shoes on and go back to dance. They are unsafe and don't take dimutyvof care

The people working in this hospital are extremely unprepared and numb with patients issues. We lost a loved one because of their poor care inside their hospital and they still don’t know what happened or they didn’t even apologise with us. We asked then how to fill a complain procedure and they told us that it’s not possible. They also failed to gave us paper works when the patient was recovered even if we asked for clarifications for more then a week while recovered. A nurse took the patients phone while in the hospital because she was trying to send a video to her family of how poor the condition in the hospital were and we weren’t be able to speak with the patient since then. Avoid going to this hospital at all costs they are killers without any emotion. We want justice.

Avoid at all times and do not allow your loved ones to go there. My mother passed away from infection. Should have seen it coming but was afraid they might treat her bad after the visits. Toilets had dried feuces on the floor and walls. Nurses couldnt even walk let alone care for the elderly. My mothers hair was all knotted and i had to cut hair off in the ward, heart breaking. I used to see mum walking down from the toilet with a nurse, wearing socks and then having to get into her bed. Can you imagine all the infection carried with her feet. When mentioned where her slippers were nobody knew. Disgraceful. Be aware!

I got referred to this hospital for physiotherapy. Safe to say, they have been completely awful. For my follow-up appointment, I got booked with the wrong doctor and turned away. This was back in May. They agreed to book an appointment with the physio I was seeing but told me an appointment is available in July and wouldn't bother to book me in with another doctor either regardless of the amount of pain I was in. I agreed to the appointment in July but got no email to confirm what date or time. Numerous phone calls and emails have got unanswered. I am at my wits end and its sad to see the NHS in such shambles

Heartless staff. Will cut you off if you turn up more than 10 mins late to an appointment. Even though it takes 10 mins to walk from the main entrance to the right department in crutches! Then they will reschedule you for another appointment available in 1 month instead of seeing you for a shorter amount of time and tell you "sorry that's our policy." Can't even call ahead to forewarn anyone you are running late as the lines all go to answering machine. Hope I am never referred to the team here again. Really upsetting experience

Broken NHS When a very elderly patient coming for a blood test (and the three blood test chairs have people sitting in them) is told by a member of staff that they cannot sit on the other empty chairs because "they are for patients with appointments". (No patients with appointments present as Dr's are at lunch!) Disgraceful! Another staff member saw her standing and gave her a chair to sit on from her office. Still no other patients with appointments present so chairs remain empty awaiting the sudden rush of "patients with appointments!

I went there for an eye screening test .before when I had these test I have had a reaction to the meds they put in my eye. I cannot see clearly for two to three day When I told the young girl this she got angry telling me I had to have it and pressurising me to have it I would like to tell Mile end Hospital and the local N H S I say what's going into my body not them and to be honest most of the stuff there looked like they need a good wash and shown how to iron there dress .I will not be going there agine

Mental health service in NHS is a complete failure. Mile End hospital is one of best examples how system doesn't benefit service users. You can beg for appointment for weeks . I went to A&E as felt depressed and had suicidal thoughts. Registered Mental Health nurse send me home . Her assessment looked like a verbal argument just to get ridd off me. Well done to Royal London Hospital A&E I was almost assault by their patient God save the NHS we need numb staff that simply dont care about other han beings

From whitechapel health centre They gave me appointment on ultrasound Department (fasting) on saturday 5th of june 2021 in 1PM when Saturday ultrasound Department is closed and 1PM they go for lunch break. I came for Manchester I was on holiday to attend this appointment I spent lots of money . I confirmed the appointment before so many times to make sure but there was a dumb african man receptionist make it confirmed, when I arrived they said this department is closed now who gonna pay my damage ?!

This was the most appalling hospital I have ever experienced. A Mental Health Unit refusing to give me the medication that I am dependant on for my physical illness. Their TOTAL incompetence lead me to A&E having IV fluids because my body was in shock. It is not a safe place for ANYBODY, let alone people in Mental Crisis. I will be making a strong formal complaint. If you care about your relative who need mental health assistance. demand a transfer to any other hospital IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Excellent staff working in a tough environment. While the building fabric is poor, and the hospital is clearly understaffed - reaching any department on the phone is a nightmare - the staff are very caring and do their best for patients. However, the under-resourcing of the hospital often means long waits for an appointment, and the computer system is a long standing joke, as my rheumatologist has often been unable to call up my file because the server has fallen over yet again.

Fantastic visit to Mile End Hospital outpatients ward. There is no delays on my appointment, the waiting area was clean, and the doctor who did my initial checkup was super efficient and friendly. On my second visit, I stayed in the day ward for a few hours. I was impressed that light lunch was provided, and also basic amenities like refreshments, blankets, heating pad and just a comfortable place to relax. Finally a shout out to the staffs who gave me the greatest care ever.

First of all, HOW RUDE!! I just called up to ask about an appointment and the woman at the phone, at the main reception I believe, answered that one question and just said 'Yeah' and HUNG UP!! I wasn't finished! I had many important questions to ask. How rude, how vile and completely unprofessional. I understand the pressure at hospitals but that lady just sounded like she didn't want to answer my call. I am VERY unhappy and this is completely unacceptable!

I just like to praise the service that am still currently receiving at this hospital. The names that I can recall from the previous ward I was in are Olabode, Tim, Michelle, Gus, Shadija, Yemi and Elizabeth. All these health professionals have been nice to me while I was at that ward, as well as the staff in the ward am now in. I would therefore like to recommend this hospital for recovery from mental ill health.

I visited the Mile End Early Diagnosis Centre, which is conveniently located right by the main entrance. The centre was very clean and modern. The reception is polite and helpful. The staff are outstanding in providing patient care and support. I was anxious and felt cared for as a person. The advice and aftercare is first class. I highly praise all members of the Mile End Early Diagnosis Centre team.

I had a Rheumatology appointment at the Mile End Hospital on Monday 28/11/22. Unbelievably good doctor. Clear and concise diagnosis and explanation. Seriously let down by other staff especially the plebotomy dept who kept people waiting and in disarray. Two hours for a blood test with a complicated booking system implemented by the plebotomist's tablet glued to her hand . Like a pick and mix lottery.

If I could give 0 stars I would but where do I even start, they are proudly working for the mental health facility, but it just seems as though they hire anyone and everyone. I recently went there because I was advised to go for blood tests but the receptionist I encountered flat out refused to read my doctors note, his reason was “he just didn’t want to.” He refused to hear me out.

Was today at early diagnosis centre I was totally stressed but thank you the proffesionals there it was handled with care patient, they calmed me down made me relaxed even if i was so scared when I came but really they made my experience and procedure great:) Perfectly clean enviroment. The Rheumatology clinic is brilliant. All staff members are dedicated and you are consulted and treated well. Great communication and no hierarchy visible. I have been treated with respect and dignity and the staff can't do enough for you. The consultants remember you by name and are kind and caring. I am happy to have my care at this hospital as it is the best I have been to.

I accompanied by cousin to the retinal screening department yesterday. Unfortunately due to hospital transport we were an hour late for the appointment and they were unsure whether they could still see him. However they did manage to squeeze him in and for that I am very grateful. All of the staff from reception onwards were very kind, polite and helpful. Thankyou

A nightmare. Left me thinking they are more focused on how many tax codes from staff can there be, or link in something called political leads and just be staff focused too, instead of patient welfare. Go to a hospital or ward where the staff are more casual for effective recovery, and it's not like they overwhelm or overbear you.

Over the years the place and service has deteriorated badly with no real way of communicating patient care. Quite demoralising and worrying. Three time I tried to get through to Dr Sutcliffes secetary only to find the person has not emptied her message machine so i could not leave a message. That is bad practice ashamed to say.

The team at the Mile End Early Diagnosis Centre were amazing! I was very nervous about my procedure (sigmoidoscopy) but they immediately put me at ease answering all of my questions clearly and with such patience. I left feeling reassured and happy to have had such a great first hospital visit. Thank you for looking after me!

Twice now I've been seen by the doctors at the Sylvia Pankhurst centre at Mile End hospital and my experience has led me to believe that there ARE good doctors who do listen to women! I can't thank the doctors enough for their patience and compassion and for most of all, the treatment I received which is changing my life.

In 2008 the so-called stroke unit was staffed by surly and inept staff who seemed to know little about rehabilitation and cared little for the well-being of the patients. Being refused an extra blanket one cold night because "there aren't any " really took the biscuit. Leaving here was like being freed from Bedlam.

Went to this hospital last night as I saw 24hrs open times rushing with my daughter who is disabled after ringing a small buzzer after asking for A&E was told that there is none at this hospital which I was thinking was a bit odd and upsetting for my daughter that we have to go royal London or find another hospital

The place was clean, the staff were great, professional, and personable, and the procedure was handled with care and professionalism. Worst hospital ever. Appointment with rheumatologist took 5 minutes. He was talking about blood test which was done 6 months ago! Gp send me to him couse one of the blood test result was very high. He didnt even pay attention to that. Waste of time. Think twice before you go there.

Was there for XRAY, the reception counter was shut but lady behind the doors could see you n attended you which was confusing. Once they find your referral the process is quick. Hospital is clean. Many people were waiting for MRI but were beibg served quickly which was great.

Had an MRI on 14 January 2020. The staff were extremely helpful and reassuring from the reception who told us where to go to the MRI reception staff who were clearly very experienced with problems like I had, to the actual scanning staff. Best ever MRI experience.

I went to have a routine colonoscopy just over a week ago. Never had sedation as I had no one to take me home. The staff, procedure and care was exemplary. I felt very secure and safe. Thank you to the surgeon and staff.

Always get my wheelchairs from Mile End Hospital from a charity organisation called Whizz-Kidz. Whizz-Kidz has provided excellent service to me and my family and friends and I would always recommend Them
