There are no fences around a lot of the pond. Young children could easily paddle in the water. But the toilet block is closed & look like it’s been closed for quiet a few years now. There is a lot of public park to enjoy as well. Lots of ducks etcetera etcetera if you want to feed them. Don’t bring bread. We all know it’s bad for them. Some people don’t obey rules about dogs on leads either. They just say the dog is old. - so be careful if you bring a young child here.

Yes indeed this is a little slice of Heaven right on my doorstep. It has a large green area with plenty of shady areas and a few picnic tables. The park is divided by a long pathway. The other side of the park is given over to a large pond full of ducks. It has a couple of viewing platforms however there are NO safeet rails around most of the pond. There are also a few benches. Although there are public toilets in over 20 years I have never seen them open.

This is such a lovely little place of calm. Children come to feed the ducks...although that can't always be a good thing but the children have a safe space to run around and have a picnic too. Pity the wooden walk way and little bridge (which is unsafe and barricaded off) haven't been repaired - they are both part of the history and beauty of this little recreational space.

Pretty pond and surroundings. Good place to see ducks, geese, coots, moorhens, and sometimes other birds. Lots of nesting birds in spring as there's two small islands in the pond. Plenty of benches to sit on and a grassy area. Sadly the council can't seem to afford to repair one of the boardwalks which is closed off and the toilets are permanently closed.

  • Bridle Road

A small park with a beautiful pond full of playful ducks and wildlife. It just needs a small cafe for people to sit at. One if the only places I sat with my sibling before the council started to be racially discriminating and aggressive when it we found out what they were up to!

  • Kaushik

Nice little park in middle of residential area which is much appreciated by local residents. The community have volunteers keeping the park looking beautiful for everyone to enjoy. Please click on like if this was helpful. Still as beautiful as ever.

Used to go there as a child and sail my toy yacht. It must have been around fifty years or even more since I was last there. A most peaceful place and so nice to see ducks, geese etc. in a natural habitat.

  • Simon Cook

Great place for a stroll. Certainly been improved of the last few years. More ducks a geese than you can shack a stick at. My kids love it. Take some duck food and you will have a great time !!

Our local green space! Love watching the water birds here. Pond surrounds could use a bit if extra in terms of wildflower plants to attract insects and shelter amphibians.

  • Rosalind Hermanstein

Lots of ducks, big geese and seagulls. Almost scary. Not a child friendly place. Keep a tight grip. The pond is not fenced off. Great place for feeding and watching.

  • Mumma And her 3 explorers

Small pond, lovely peaceful area for an afternoon family walk, we never feed the ducks but you can.

It would be a terrible shame if this little oasis in Shirley was lost to development & building. It's a haven for birds & a lovely place to wander round

  • Goldie Singh

A small park with a pond and many benches to sit and eat. Very ideal quiet area good for having a walk or relaxing. I always go to feed the birds.

  • Cheey

Lots of green space. It's peaceful. Not enough trees/shady spots and not enough benches. But lots of ducks, beautiful pond. And peaceful space.
