"A popular tea house located in a small town within the vicinity of the Dandenong Ranges serving a variety of hot foods including sandwiches, soup and pies etc"
Went there early before 11am to queue. They have a good system where they will let you know roughly when they will have a table for you and take your name down for later. We ordered a couple of savoury dishes followed by the dessert. Honestly, as many other reviewers have noted, the food is lacklustre. The cottage pie was very bland and expensive for what you get - it doesn't even come with a couple of green leaves or other salad. It was underseasoned but did come with a bit of sauce. The soup was also bland and small for the price ($17!), plus the bread roll that came with it - while warm - looked and tasted like a supermarket roll. The scones were very nice. Not a traditional size but they were soft and warm. However, they were stingy with the jam and cream. Although we ordered two servings of scones (four scones in total) they only gave us one serve each of jam and cream. When we asked for our second lot of jam, the waitstaff were hesitant and didn't seem to want to do this. In the end they brought a small "extra" serve of jam even though we had technically paid for this. Finally, be aware of the 20% public holiday surcharge that is NOT advertised anywhere on the shop, at the table or on the menu. I'm happy to pay a bit extra on a weekend to make sure staff are paid properly but at the very least make people aware of this. Especially overseas tourists who probably don't know. The service and atmosphere was nice and the scones very tasty. Other than that, I would struggle to recommend this place unless you are only interested in the scones. Even then, you can find other places with scones that are just as good for less cost and less waiting time.

Date of visit: 6-12-22 My partner and I decided to treat ourselves at Miss Marple's Tearoom after our visit at 1000 Steps. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and luckily we were seated straight away in a nice table by the window. It was lovely to see the tearooms looking it's best following last year's lockdowns. This time there are also beautiful Christmas decorations which certainly puts you in the holiday spirit.. ✨️ The old world charm of the interiors no doubt makes you feel like happy and transports you elsewhere , as if dining in cottage in the English countryside. All of the food we ordered was brought to our table fairly quickly and also tasted great and were presented beautifully.. The cold drinks and mains were served first followed by scones and tea. The Teapot of Taylors for 2 (charged per person) was of good quality and plentiful ,so definitely worth it. Only criticism I would have is that the scones weren't as nice as we remembered. However, there was plenty of cream and jam served with them and you could ask for more if you ever ran out. Also, maybe some more upmarket options for cold beverages to match the beauty of the tearooms would be nice as opposed to the standard softdrinks. Overall, it was a great experience as always and definitely something to do if you wanted wanted treat yourself or a loved ones! We would definitely be back in the future to try the dessert selection!

Such a shame! I had been visiting this place over the past 20 years, but unfortunately on my last visit I could not have been more disappointed. Despite ordering a few servings of the scones, we only received one measly serving of their jam. When requesting for more jam (which is in fact what we paid for!), we were met with complete rudeness. In the end, we bought the jam itself in the jar! We had to pay extra for an item that is supposedly a part of our order, which is something I have not come across in any establishment. Interesting to read other reviews commenting on racism as our feelings were similar. But I am certain that instead of self-evaluating on their business and attitude- and complete disregard of customer service- they will respond below with sarcasm, as they have done so with other reviews. Their replies in itself speaks volume! Further comment to reply below: The racism and girl incident is not related to us or our review so not sure why that is the reply we are receiving. But granted there are so many reviews highlighting others' experiences of racism and bad service that the confusion is understandable. Unfortunately, you have numerous reviews (and unfortunately all quite recent) that have commented on experiences of racism. No misunderstanding if there is a pattern of repeated behaviour!

Lack lustre food, great atmosphere and service. I've been meaning to try Miss Marples for years and finally had the chance after visiting the 1000 steps. All dishes were visually appealing but, a let down when we ate it. Much like coffee, smells delicious but tastes nothing like the fragrance. Fruit and plain scones were more of hybrid sponge/pound cake. It was okay hot but once it cooled down was completely dry. The raspberry jam was nice and cream was okay. Lots of friends enjoyed the scones here, it came highly recommended. It wasn’t a scone just a cake that was bland. Belgian waffles are a disappointment. It was more like a stale week old croissant rolled in sugar and pressed in a waffle maker. The texture was dry, stale and unsavoury with sugar granules. The ice cream was strange, less cream and more like a ball of butter. The swirl of cream was more a giant swirl of butter cream unsweetened, unsavoury. The great elements of the dish was the fruit. Waffles and scones are some of my favourite sweet dishes. I was looking forward to enjoying delicious home made versions here, this was far from it.

A popular tea house located in a small town within the vicinity of the Dandenong Ranges serving a variety of hot foods including sandwiches, soup and pies etc. and an extensive list of desserts. The place gets extremely busy right when the place opens. Thankfully was in line before opening and was able to secure a seat. Decided to go for the sweets for this visit and ordered the Miss Marple's "Sundae Best", their famous scones and a cappuccino. The scones were different to the usual scones, it doesn't have much of a crust, less crumbly and more like pound cake but less dense. Mildly sweet and buttery, it paired well with the raspberry jam and fresh cream. Wouldn't say it's better than a conventional scone but it was tasty. The sundae was massive with layers of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, berry sauce, chocolate fudge and some strawberries; definitely designed for sharing. It was delicious, surprisingly not too sweet, and the whipped cream was thick; not your regular light and fluffy whipped cream. Would have preferred some more strawberries to balance out the amount of ice cream/whipped cream. Cappuccino was served above drinking temperature but it was fine as I was not in a rush. Overall a nice place to try. Staffs were friendly. Suggest arriving before the opening time to get the first seating.
Had been wanting to go here, finally went on a Saturday lunch, came already late like 1.15pm, and so many people queuing outside. We put our name in waiting list and they said come back in 20 mins. We did and got seated 5 minutes after. I can see why people love this place, you do feel transported to like an old English time, with the staff looking like they are from Downtown Abbey too with long black dress and white apron. The lady at the front desk is especially soft spoken and friendly. It was a bit cramped for space, but I guess it adds to the feel of an old place. The menu for savoury is rather limited, although there are desserts that has bigger range than the savouries. Tried their pasty with salad. Food took quite a while to get out. Their coffee was so so, and their special tea was ok. Pasty was nice with chutney, i wish they were a bit more generous with the chutney. Their salad is nice with good variety of vegetables, and nice French vinaigrette dressing. Overall very happy with our visit, definitely a good place to take tourist friends here as you feel you are transported to old England.

If you are looking for a whimsical and a taste of English tea, then Miss Marple’s Tearoom should not be missed. Had the signature beef cottage pie.. It was rich and piping hot when served. A tat more seasoning would be perfect but that’s just preference. The scones is not the typical scones we know.. when complimented with its light cream and fresh jam, it was simply divine. Many people ordered the toffee pudding, fish and chips and sundae best! Would have tried if had more space. So going in a group will be helpful to be able to try more dishes. The ambience was very chrismasy during July.. puts u straight into the Christmas mood. The place is very crowded. They do not take reservations so be prepared to wait. However, despite the crowd, service was great. Everyone was smiling and try to check on you when possible.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had the pumpkin soup. It was so so yum. Then, of course, a sweet treat of Devonshire tea, which was huge! So yummy, though, and it's totally worth it. The service was impeccable, the owner had fantastic people skills and made all of her customers feel welcome. It was very busy as usual, so we had to wait 25 minutes. There are plenty of cute shops to explore in while you wait though so we absolutely did not mind. It is located in a street filled with beautiful trees and shops as well as a park over the road. It is so cute and old fashioned. I love the plates, jams and other ornaments inside, the wall paper, table cloths and flowers on the table. Then to make it even cooler they've now renovated the bathrooms and made them ultra modern. It's an 11/10 for me!

Miss Marple's Tearoom is lacking one thing....a booking system. It's not as if they don't make enough money, based in the prices they charge (please note that I am complaining about the price, it is a tourist destination after all). We arrived at 11am on a Friday, and thankfully we got in straight away. That said, by 11.30am the tearoom was full. I dread to think what the queue is like to enter the tearoom at the weekend. Aside from this point, everything about Miss Marple Tearoom is five stars from the ambience, service and food. My partner and I had different varieties of "Miss Marple's Famous Fingers" and the banana split for desert. Everything was thoroughly enjoyed with no complaints. Will I be back? It's taken me 17 years to brave the queues to come here and thankfully I was able to come on a quieter weekday. It's a great place and I will definitely consider it, but probably only if a booking system is installed.

Miss Marple's Tearoom is a concept derived from the famous Agatha Christie character of the same name. We have been coming to sassafras for many years but never actually been here, until now. This establishment has lines going out the door and its best to queue up before 11am to get in. The atmosphere is great but can be crowded at the best of times. Its cozy little abit claustrophobic, but looks like you stepped back in a era of the 20s in the foothills of an old english home. We had the English pie and I do agree with some of the reviews that it was a touch bland and nothing to run home about. The deserts on the otherhand was substantial and we were so full that neither my son or I could finish it. Overall I guess you pay for the overall experience. Its a nice place to bring your family to or any relatives visiting for a bit of sightseeing.

What a disappointing visit we had to Miss Marples last Friday. My mother and I both ordered the scones, which at $15 for two scones only (no drink) is certainly at the high end. The “scones” were certainly tasty, but not like any scone I’ve ever seen. Cut from a slab, they seemed more like a cake or event a sweet bread than a scone. Although we ordered two serves (one each) we were only provided with one serve of jam and cream and advised to ask for more if we wanted it. There definitely wasn’t enough of either for four scones and although we asked for more, it never eventuated. My mum ordered an iced coffee which appeared to have been watered down. Even if skim milk had been used, this was beyond that. Watery and apparently a bit tasteless. The overwhelming impression is that Miss Marples is being run on the cheap. Corners cut on scone production, provision of condiments, quality of ingredients and number of staff. Won’t be back unfortunately.

I had a friend here from overseas and brought her for the quaint experience. The food is good but nothing exceptional yet I always stop by if I'm in the Dandenongs and I tend to bring international visitors because Sky High is nearby. Housed in a mock Tudor facade the set up at Miss Marples is a famous old world tearoom and the menu is traditional English fare (although the scones break from traditional being a square shape but I'm not complaining that I get more bang for my buck). A very cute afternoon Original review MM never fails to be completely full to the brim with tourists. You will struggle to get a park and you will never get in upon arrival but the wait time allows you to explore the quaint stretch of shops on either side. Waffles and scones are a must but if you are coming for lunch I like to eat the chicken and pineapple fingers before getting into the sweet stuff. Come for the atmosphere of being high in the pretty mountains enjoying a cup of tea in yesteryear
Visited this place a couple years ago, was fantastic, decided to drop in today, could not have been more disappointed. Reception lady past wind, whilst she took us to our table. We reluctantly ordered scones, when they came out, they looked like a 5 year old Panettone and they were not fresh. My partner ordered the fruit scone, one sultana was found. We both ordered scones, we got 1 measly serve of jam and cream. Waitress was ok, but service generally really bad. Iv read some of the reviews aswell, unfortunately after we visited, I know it’s only food you goose, but that’s what pays your bills. Extremely over priced aswell. Wouldn’t of cared about the price, if the food and service was up to par. 2 serves of Scones, 2 coffees just under $50 lol Bye bye Miss Marple Tea Room.

One of the landmark restaurants in Olinda and has been there forever. Always busy but everything is in good order. Had scones and a ploughman's lunch. Both were freshly made and nice to dine in. Toilet has been renovated and it would be nice if two tabs are installed. Waiting staff are super friendly. Parking on the street and could be an issue on a busy day.

Been here for a few years now. The scones with the delightful jam and cream is the must haves for any visit. The food menu has not really changed for a while, and it does taste pretty good. I always like the cottage pie. The iced chocolate is a tad too sweet for my liking and the fish and chips is a good serving for the price you are paying for. The staff do take very good care of old folks, making sure that they are comfortable and ensuring that they walk through the busy restaurant carefully. The service of the staff is good and although not as attentive as the place is really very busy during lunch time, I did not feel neglected as my dirty plates were cleared and our food service was prompt. I will still come back again for the scones, but I do hope that there could be some slight changes to the mains menu.
A tad too squeezy otherwise it is a lovely place for a meal. The scones and jam is a must haves. Bought a jar back myself too. And i love the bread&butter pudding!!!! It was soooo yummy. We had fish & chips which was like what it shld be. The cottage pie looks good tho we didnt have any. And others had their superhuge sundaes that look fantastic. We didnt hv enuf tummy space to have it all. Didnt have to wait for a table as we arrived after lunch time. Tho they do inform that at 3-ish, they only serve afternoon tea menu. Clean & beautiful toilets are a plus!! Do drop by. Worth your time.

Tldr; This place lives up to the hype and it is NOT a tourist trap. I would go here with the understanding that there will be a line during Holiday season, but the wait will be 100% worth it. The long version: Miss Marple's Tearoom made me wish there were more unfussy tearooms in the world. Their scones were massive and made me think about the question of "What is a scone really". The side of jam and whipped cream were perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. The tea was amazingly strong and the right brand (IMO: It's Yorkshire gold or go home). The ambience of the building was great and very homey.

Disappointing. I don't know how this is so highly ranked. Don't get me wrong, service was great, tea was hot, decor was comfortingly kitch. I just can't get over the fact that the scones were square and cakey. They had clearly been made as one large cake and cut into portions. They were agonisingly tall and spongey. The impression is that it is done to save time and churn out as many as possible. Scones are not hard to make and the character of a scone is in its crunchy outside and soft layered inside. They are robust but delicate. Call me a traditionalist, or just a bloke who loves scones, but this missed the mark.

Loved the experience of going to Miss Marple's tea room. Jen at the entrance counter was lovely and remembered my name at the end of my visit which made it all seem very friendly and welcoming, like being in a relative's house. I bought one of the puddings to take back home to Italy with me. Jen said she made them herself and she was really proud of how good they are. I'm sure it will be just as great as our scones and cake my friend and I had there that day. Lovely visit, will be back. Thank you Ps. All the staff were really nice and the whole place is so cute and cosy. Loved the fireplace

This place is a must try if you are in Dandenong. I highly recommend their soup of the day and their cottage pie. I also enjoyed their signature scones, I don't think it is the best as some say but it is not bad either. It's pricey for what you get but I guess it is worth it once in a while. If you are planning your trip there, get there early or you will have to wait for some time as they are usually packed.

Miss Marple's Tearoom is the place to be if you love scones. The scones are traditionally prepared and served with their home made fresh cream and raspberry jam. Teapot of Taylors is a perfect pairing with the scones. Also had the Cottage Chicken Pie is awesome, the flavour to the texture. Didn't fail to impress me and put a smile on my face. The ladies at Miss Marple's are so friendly, making you feel like home. The ambience, music, is relaxing and comfortable. Is it recommended? Yes definitely! I will be back more than just often. Thank you for giving us the experience Miss Marple's and family. See you soon.

This place is definitely an institution and a must visit for tourists. Love the decor. The atmosphere is cosy and service is friendly, though hard to get at times as they are so busy. Some dishes are good (chicken pie), others are just ok. Scones are soft and served warm with delicious jam, but I was expecting better from the actual scones. It is a shame that you cannot share pots of tea as they are quite large for one person. Best to arrive before opening time and line up for a table.

Came here on a Sunday, there was a line even before it opened at 11! Furnished like a grandmas living room, it’s very quaint. The staff were lovely and food and drinks came quite promptly. None of the food was special in my opinion though. The scones are famous and yet they are quite ugly and taste wise fine, but I’ve had better. They charged a weekend 10% surcharge which feels a bit cheeky too. Of course a cafe is open on the weekend..! I think you’ve got to go once, as it’s a bit of a Melbourne institution, but not sure id return. Felt a little like a tourist trap.

The reputation it once had as a warm and welcoming environment is no longer. It feels more like a "get you in and out as quickly as possible" business with dispassionate service. Making patrons wait outside in the freezing cold, especially the elderly for an unacceptable amount of time, due to not taking reservations in this day and age is appalling. There are more lovely and welcoming places in the vicinity.

Busy cafe ( especially on weekends) Cosy atmosphere, set up like grandma's living room- with a nod to Agatha Christie. Food was delicious, serving size was bigger than expected. Must save room to try the speciality square scones! Recommend making a booking, otherwise, go there and leave your names and come back in approx an hour to dine in. First time here for lunch after driving by so many times. Really friendly service and quick turnaround of meals. They don't take bookings, so it does feel like they try to churn through customers as quickly as possible. Still, the food is great and plentiful. I felt the beef cottage pie could've done with a bit more salt and pepper. The pumpkin soup was great. Our son whoofed it down. My pastie was nice. Scones are a bit curious - square (see photos). Delicious jam, and the other desserts are lovely and divine. Definitely go. Finger sandwiches look great, too.

Came here on such a freezing day at about 2 degrees and it was so cosy inside with the fire going. The food reminds me of mums or grandma's cooking, nothing too fancy but just good hearty cooking. The place does get packed out and quite often you will have to wait for a table and they do NOT take bookings. Previous reviews have said that the prices are quite expensive but they obviously haven't eaten in Melbourne, I think the serves were quite generous for a very reasonable price. Be warned that the desserts are quite hard to resist, I couldn't resist the trifle which was absolutely amazing
If you don’t get here when they open, be prepared to wait for hours! All dishes are amazing but our favourites are fish and chips plus sticky toffee pudding. Scones and shakes are really good and massive in size but the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce on top..oh ..there’s amazing and then there’s spectacular!!! If around, do the hike from Olinda to Sassafras too..gorgeous!

Not too sure if the ownership changed or not, certainly the floor people changed. Had to ask for seats even the staff took down our name half an hour ago. Others people came after us with same amount of people were guided in instead of us. Only one floor staff did the order and it has to be ordered by which table sit down first not the ones who are ready to order. Certainly not the same service we got before COVID. Very disappointed!!!

Must visit place if you are at Dandenong Ranges. Love their antique interior design and atmosphere. They serve great scones and I can’t forget the taste of their raspberry jam. Wanted to buy some back home but it was a little too expensive. Belgian waffles and coffee were just okay. You might find yourself a bit uncomfortable if you visit during peak hour because the tables are very close to one another. Although there are lots of tourists, I could see the locals love this place. My personal rating: Scone 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Coffee 4/5 Price 4/5 Service 4/5
Cute teahouse, and great service. The waitresses were delightful, respectful and welcoming! Though, when it comes to the food, it was 80% miss and 20% hit. All the main meals lacked seasoning especially the cottage pie. The fish and chips tasted like it was frozen when you are paying $30 for it. If I were to come back, the only meal I would recommend ordering are the scones and nothing else. Also, whilst I agree on an additional 10% on public holidays, I highly disagree with another 10% surcharge on weekends. It's distasteful and leaves a bad impression.
I visited Miss Marple’s more than 10 years ago and made a nostalgic return today - it hasn’t disappointed with the quality of its scones and cakes. Staff were friendly, service was quick, desserts were nice and heartening for a cold arvo. Only setback is the close proximity between tables that you’ll feel like you’re also dining with the patrons next to you.

I haven’t been to Mrs Maples since I was a child, so coming here, there were happy memories attached. It’s very quaint and cosy still. The staff are pleasant. However, the food was quite disappointing. The scones were more like a cake & the toasty was very dry. Four of us at the table ordered tea, and we were only given one pot. Additionally, four of up ordered scones, and there was not enough jam and cream, although they did bring us a small amount more when we asked. Additionally, there was a 10% weekend surcharge on already quite expensive meals.
This adventure was one of my favorites in my time exploring Mt Dandenong. You walk in and are instantly transported to the world of Miss Marple. Met with smiling staff and beautiful food. The best Scone I've ever had. We also had the vegan option as part of our party had dietary requirements and it was also beautiful. Thank you for creating this beautiful place and continuing to deliver to your community and give us a reason to travel to the beautiful mountains surrounding Melbourne. George

Bring in the festive spirit at miss marple's with the beautifully decorated timless styled interior. Festive menu of Christmas fingers were delicious and the pies were beautifully simple, however a bit light in flavour. The desserts were ample with the cream from the waffles and chocolate fudge being very buttery and smooth. Highly recommend getting one dessert to share or order in a group to try them all. Highlight: the scones are a must try with their clotted cream and delicious jam that, unlike some places, isn't too sweet.
Amazing food and service. This place was recommended to us and upon arrival, there were already so many people waiting to be seated. We just had our names listed on the waiting list. You can explore other shops near the area while waiting. The food was a bit pricey but for me it's worth the price, the good service, and the ambiance. Their jams are also so good. I am not sure if they sell them elsewhere but don't forget to bring one home. This is the kind of restaurant you'd want to visit again because of the food experience.
It’s been over 10 years since I was last in Melbourne and able to plan a visit to Miss Marples. And this visit did not disappoint. The Ploughmans Lunch was as delicious as ever, and the Scones accompanied by Yorkshire Tea was simply delightful! Just as good as I remember and I’m so glad we made time for a visit. Staff were great and friendly too!

I have been looking forward to coming here for so long and guess what? It didn't disappoint. The service was outstanding and the food scrumptious. Still can't believe the owner works together with her staff on the restaurant floor. If you are intending to go please go hungry and try a few things off the menu. Don't forget to try the scones!

Customer service was terrible. Not kid friendly place !!!!!!!!!My baby touched the glass by accident so I cleaned the window with my own wipes while we are eating. However, a waitress gave me the cleaning stuff and asked me to clean the window. What a rude!!!!! I cleaned the window and walked away. I am not gonna come here anymore. Shocking place!!

It is worth to visit for scone with jam and cream, but not sure for other dishes. Other than scones, we had beef cottage pie and fresh chicken finger sandwich. They are all mild and not strong taste. All staffs are very nice so it made us to enjoy the atmosphere even though we waited for 1h20m to get the table on Saturday lunch time (we arrived at 12:45 pm). Lovely place but it’s distracting because of the near tables that are very close each other.

Highly recommend. Best to get there at early on weekends as it is walk in service. We have been coming for years and the service is always fast and food is fresh. Our family favourites are the beef cottage pie, open sandwich, chicken fingers, fish and chips. Belgian waffles are a great sweet option. Honestly anything you order will not disappoint. The scones are must eat as well!! They also do christmas in July with Christmas themed food options.

We had the chicken cottage pie a plain scone a fruit scone. The chicken cottage pie was outstanding, with heaps of quality chicken meat. There was not much difference between the fruit scone and the plain one. The fruit scone can do with more fruits. I love the environment - a lot of old teapots and photos of Miss Marple. I can't understand though why we were not allowed to move to an empty table for two where there was less traffic

Very popular Tearoom in the area. As soon as you enter in Miss Marple, there is specific atmosphere, it is crowdy and at the same time quiet. Busy place, the tearoom was full of people. Have tested their scones, and it is certainly the best I've eaten in Australia. This must be their flagship product. Banana Splitbwas good too. Great selection of teas. Old school decoration, lots seats indoor and some benches outside. Worth a try !

Lovely English tea room with beautiful design. I like the waffles and scones. The scones tasted different from that bought from woolis. It's smoothy and tasty. You have some kinds of choices for the tea. It can not be booked online in advance. But you can visit it and book in person under your name. It takes some time to wait but you can have a walk around the main street. There are lots of cute store here.

The local favourite cafe for brunch and scones. Got the fish and chips, salmon open sandwich and some scones. The highlight was definitely the scones as they were warm and fluffy. Expect to wait in line for half an hour before getting seated, especially on weekends. Expect to spend around $30 for a meal here including scones.

The line to this place was crazy! But the staff was really great. They even remember our names an hour after we get in (1.5 hrs after we leave our names on waiting list). The famous scones was just so so, but the Belgian Waffle was amazing! It was a unique place, but a bit too cramped, crowded and loud. But the waffle though... yum!

We popped I here after being recommended. Was a really nice experience, we went for scones with a pot or tea - really nice, although not the usual looking scones.... but they tasted great!! It was Christmas in July, and it was decorated beautifully. There was some beautiful looking home cooked cottage pies and other meals going out. I got to speak with the owner - who you can tell is proud of her tea room! Go and enjoy the nostalgia!
We arrived feeling carsick, so asked for water. It arrived about 10 mins later with our hot drinks, even after being asked again. Apart from that, the service was good, food excellent, and really cute tearoom, lovely atmosphere.

The food was delicious. We really enjoyed it. Everything was nicely presented as well. The place is quite busy and they do not take reservations. There's always a long cue to get in so it's best to get there early. The waitress are polite but they also politely rush you to finish your meal to free the table for the next customers.

It is a cosy little place, however it is quite pricey for what it's worth. Had the plain scones which came with cream & jam. The size was quite large but they were average. Also tried the ham & cheese fingers which were nice but too pricey. The Teapot of Taylors was very costly & was quite light flavoured & nothing special. Would not recommend this place for an afternoon tea stop.

Came here for the pies rather than the scones—and the pies were not as good as I remember them but still a worthy experience. Go for the beef pie over the chicken—it was a bit bland by comparison. The sandwich fingers were pretty tasty. It gets very busy so the wait could take a while.

Recommend stopping by this cosy tea room in Sassafras when you are visiting the Dandenong Ranges. You must try the scones accompanied by whipped cream and homemade rasperry jam. The cottage beef pie was average tasting, not enough substantive, and needed more beef and potato covering. Interior decoration gave the restaurant a very welcoming and comfortable feel.

My parents and myself arrived on Wednesday afternoon. We ordered a quiche, smoked salmon fingers and plain scones plus drinks. The scones went well with raspberry jam and whipped cream. The quiche was delicious, cheesy and flaky pastry. The smoked salmon fingers were delicious as well. Staff were friendly and service was good. I would love to come back again!!

Came here to try their scones after hearing so much about it. It was definitely very different from what I thought it would look like, but it was a pleasant surprise. I love how fluffy the scones were and it went amazingly well with the fresh cream and raspberry jam! I added a mug of hit chocolate, and it just paired together so well with the scones! Would definitely love to come here again!
I attended this establishment with my father. Brought him back to the old country (SCOTLAND). The nostalgia brought a tear to his. Haven't seen him this happy since the last time the rangers won the cup. The scones were delicious and the tea was an appropriate temperature and delicious. I will be back. Hopefully with more family members.

Super famous for lunch. If you plan to come here, please arrive early. I came at 12.30pm on a weekday and there’s already a 30-minute waiting period. The scone is famous and the taste is a bit ‘unusual’ (softer like chiffon-scone(?)) but nice. I hope the tea pot can be more beautiful with ornaments (it was plain white).

We arrived the place at 11:03 am and the queue was already 10 meters long, fortunately there were plenty of seats in the room, we didn’t have to wait for a long time. The decorations were delicate and warm, you can relax even without the famous scone. Don’t skip the scones, it’s very nice.

Been here a couple of times and is always crowded. The scones and jam are the main highlights. Soft and warm and melts in your mouth. A must try. The cottage pies and fish and chips are ok not too bad. The place is small with low ceiling so when the noise level can get unbearable if there are wailing or rowdy kids. Not the best ambience for a peaceful relaxing meal.
It’s the third time I’ve been there. Love their fingers and scones so much! The cream and raspberry jam are matching with the scones, but the jam is too sweet for me. You can buy the raspberry jam in the shop if you like it. Elegant environment, just one reminder, make a reservation before you go on weekends, otherwise, you may need to wait more than 30 minutes.
What an institution!!!!! Love this place❤️ best scones ever , absolutely delicious . I crave them at least once a month. The staff and service is fantastic, they’re always so lovely and kind and helpful even when they are so so so busy. Definitely worth the visit, I’ll be back time and time again xoxo

A classic and humble restaurant along the main street. The food menu here is relatively classic such as pies and sandwiches. The scones are amazing, definitely worth the drive. The prices are expensive, however you are more paying for the tea room experience. If coming on a weekend prepare to wait.

Amazing scone and jam, service was great. Had a very nice mushroom soup and great bread. I am bit disappointed with the cottage pie, nothing special overpriced and lack of seasoning. Scones and jam were the winner dish it was light and fluffy plain scones that rise perfectly and delicious. I’ll come back just for the scones.

Always a favourite to take visitors. A bit of a wait but that is nothing compared to the views driving up to Miss Marple's and the most divine meals. Today we enjoyed the soup of the day - Mushroom, a banana split, Welsh rarebit and of course we had to order and enjoy the Scones! The pictures do not do the food justice.
Very warm and inviting atmosphere! Can’t think of anything negative, everything was above and beyond. The staff are very warm and welcoming and the food and drinks are great. The deserts are fairly big so best to share one between two people. We will be back again!

Such an amazing n cosy cottage style restaurant. The place was absolutely stunning n the food was sooo delicious. We tried the shepherds pie & the smoked salmon Sourdough, both were cooked to perfection with high quality ingredients. Definitely coming back!

This is a great place to experience a quaint little country side feel when up in the Dandenong. It is good for its cream, so must try their ice cream and waffles. They are also known for their scones but personally I feel I have had better.
Oooo I love this place. I have never seen it not full so, definitely a good idea to pop in about an hour before you were planning to dine and get your name on the list (gives you just enough time to scope out the cute little boutiques that
Very nice food and dining experience . Besides the waiting outside and not having bookings. It can be hard to organise let's say with people from overseas with other places to be at . U just don't know how long you can wait, also if u try
We are fans of the Miss Marple television series so it was a real treat to visit the tearoom. Thankfully Miss Marple wasn’t there and no body died. We enjoyed the scones and coffee. My wife’s gluten free plain and fruit were a real treat.
