"Mission park is pathetic, after seeing their ads on TV about all the charity's they support they need to stop giving money away and invest in their cemetary, they wrote a letter saying no more potted plants nothing left on the ground they will pick it up, the vases for flowers is 500 bucks I don't see how many people can afford this I can't, they don't offer you 1 either after all the money we spend on funerals there the service is sickening afterwards no grass on the graveside broken headstones sunk in headstones, no respect for any of our loved ones, but let me tell you the owner and his wife are dressed fit to kill when their on tv, its a shame our loved ones don't get that kind of attention, I have tried repeatedly to contact them and they have yet to return my call, so if you like throwing your money away and don't care about your loved ones this is the place to go, I will never bury any other family members here once they get your money you or your loved ones are nothing to them, I mean the owners do have an image to uphold ! "I'm very disappointed with Mission Park"
If I could give ZERO stars, I would. This place is truly AWFUL! The staff has no compassion when working with families. It's all about the money and they could care less about the grieving family or the deceased loved one they are trying to lay to rest. My family has owned 4 plots at Mission South since 1979. When we buried my father in late 2010, his parents went on several occasions to find the grave sunk in and not filled with dirt...it took so long before any grass started to grow. We paid for a vase and multiple times, my grandparents found it broken or missing and Mission trying to get them to pay $300 for a new one. My grandma takes her receipt each time she goes to prove that we purchased it and make them replace it. We now need to burying my grandfather's ashes, after having his cremation and services at a far better funeral home, which only cost $3150. Mission stated that to bury an urn, place a flat headstone (purchased elsewhere), and NO graveside service would cost $4750...to bury an urn in a plot our family has owned for decades! We then have to consider the same costs in the coming years when my grandmother passes. Absolutely terrible! Every time I called, there was another fee they "forgot" to mention before, especially when I said I was purchasing the headstone elsewhere. They don't maintain the landscape and if they do mow, they damage the vases and headstones. Maybe they were better in 1979 but now all they want is your money. Please do your family a favor and find ANYWHERE else as a final resting place for your loved ones.
1 star just to leave a review. My many late fam members are buried here. My family pre-paid only to have the absolute worst customer service answering calls. She kept interrupting me with "yeah" chewing her gum on the phone like bon qui qui. Very tacky for a place that is supposed to be professional. Then Rachelle (whatever her name is) complaining about too many family members calling..it was 2. Fine lazy girl, take notes and communicate them to your contact person. If you don't like your job, don't work there. There's too many Karen like, ghetto sounding associates/directors, whatever they want to call themselves but it's pretty embarrassing for such a long time reputable funeral home. If I owned the place, I'd be embarrassed and clean house quick. Poor customer service like you have now, will catch up and only ruin your business. Lots of my fam are buried there going back MANY years fully paid..and for that kind of treatment? What a shame....I'm breaking the chain and going to, and I highly recommend Camero Funeral Home. Their cust svc is elite compared to this, and even do a much better job preparing the body for viewing too. My grandma passed of natural causes and was very unrecognizable...A new business model, real professionals and cust svc training is much needed. If I win the lotto, I'm digging up my fam and going elsewhere.
If you prepared your funeral arrangements in advance in hopes of alleviating your loved ones from any financial burdens upon death; be ware of all the extras they did not divulge. For starters; the increase in price of your casket, local paper obituary is not included, police escort (if needed) is extra. Clergy services is extra. That is only listing a few things. You walk in, they explain your options. Then they proceed to tell you you the cost of all the extras, any increases you are responsible for and how you plan to pay. Once payment is made then they proceed with dates and times available. Next step, the family viewing. I was horrified to see my beloved sisters hair disheveled and her make up was hideous. They placed two rosaries in her hand instead of the one we requested to be replaced. The handout they created had numerous names misspelled and they apparently do not the difference between AM and PM. Did they treat us like family. Heavens No. And that’s putting it mildly. Would I recommend this place? Not in a million years! In fact this place has enabled me to definitely opt for cremation.

I'm very disappointed with Mission Park. The casket my mom was in was damaged and they totally disregarded it. The roads are all pot holes driving thru. I call to voice my opinion and never get a returned call. I called a couple days ago to find out if the plot next to my dad is still available and don't get a returned call. Also the tome stones are crocket. My family had to plant grass on my moms lot along with adding soil to the grave. my family called numberous time about this only to get no response. My sister took my dad there to visit my moms grave only to get the window busted out of the car and have her purse stolen. Worst cemetary ever. We are going into Feburary and there are still Halloween decorations on the grave sites. Everything is dated and employees are not compassionate and all. I understand this isn't a perfect world but bottom line is they don't care. every-time i see a new grave the tombstones next to it get shifted. The upkeep there is the worst.
4th Visit (3/4/23): Maintenance "fixed up" my father's gravesite by placing rocks on it, then proceeded to run over his site with a work vehicle. They trashed my father's memorial plaque and all flowers. Spoke to a few people there and they have mentioned maintenence has been purposely leaving the water off so the family can't water their loved ones plot. Maintenance also dug up the grass on one of their loved ones gravesite and looks like they transposed the dug up grass onto one of the properties trees that had no grass previously. These guys do not care about anyone's loved ones here. 3rd time our family has gone out here after my father has passed and they still leave his gravesite a mess! Now his plot has sunken in and someone else's loved one's headstone is placed in the wrong spot. And they are STILL demanding money from my family after how they have treated my dad so disgracefully. Save yourself the heartache and find another place to bury your loved one.
Mother's Day 2021. This is one day of the year when gravesites are highly visited and family should be comforted and feel all is right with loved ones gone before. Imagine visiting only to find Grandma's grave looking like an overgrown vacant lot. Well, it's happened TWICE to me. Both times on a Mother"s Day, the first was a few years ago. Weeds almost knee high around grandparents and great aunt & uncle's headstones. There were many gravesites looking equally weedy and neglected on the hill. Should I have had to spend my time there pulling weeds by hand? Twice? Enough to fill a grocery bag stuffed so full it couldn't be closed. I know there was welcomed rainfall earlier in the week but if Mission"s "perpetual" care team could not make their park presentable for Mother's Day then outside weed control services should have been utilized. No excuses are acceptable. Hmmm, makes me wonder if the parks on the north side were this shabby looking.
This place only cares about money. We chose to have our mother's funeral at a different place but we had to use Mission South because our Mom pre-paid for a plot when our father died 32 yrs ago. The cost to open the grave and put a liner in was 1/2 of the total cost for the other funeral home that did everything else. To add the DOB and DOD and a picture to the existing tombstone was going to be another $1200. We found someone who would do it at a fraction of the cost and Mission refused saying they do not let outside vendors come in and do that. It is all about the money and nothing else. They tried to get us to purchase a new tombstone saying they had new larger mowers and were not responsible for damage. Again - all about the money. Horrible experience. DO NOT use the place if you can. There are better places that will save you thousands.
Planning for your future resting place can be overwhelming. Especially when you just buried a loved one last month. I would love the share my experience with Kari Moody who is from Family Service. To begin with, she was patient, kind and understanding to all my concerns. I currently live out of town and she was able to give me a full details over the phone. The connection she made with me was so personable! Kari was also able to meet with one of my good friends in San Antonio to display the plots I am interested in. When you are ready to make the next step planning for your final resting place reach out to Kari. You will not regret it. Her kindness/knowledge goes a long way. Overall I am one SUPER SATISFIED customer!
NOT Very Happy! I JUST GOT WORD THE WATER IS OFF, and don't have an answer to when the water will be turned on. Our family has been keeping up with the grave site. We just layed grass and have to maintain it ourselves. My father just passed 3 months ago. It's been awful to deal with the office. Also were mislead with purchasing the companion headstone. We are still grieving and this has been an awful expierence! Supposedly the water pumps or well is being maintenance on by another company. This is such an inconvenience. No one at cemetery keeps up with grave sites. I was told that Mike Hoffman the general manager is on vacation and will not return until Monday, and there are no answers.
I cannot stand Rachel. As a business owner myself, she's so many things that go against good customer service and good business. I don't care if she has a family bc she didn't care about my family who paid thousands for a funeral. My 9 year old daughter could've done better. If mission park south wants to improve, get rid of the funeral director, Roachel and all the other f ups there. Furthermore, MPS needs use the thousands of $ you take from many families and use it for maintenance and basic grass cutting which isn't hard to do especially with so many ppl doing side hustles, finding lawn care isn't hard to do. Start with this advice and improvements may start to show a bit....
Came to visit my parents grave today, Father's Day, and found their gravesite flood by the sprinkler system, water four inches deep all around their graves, water spraying on their headstones and their bench! Makes it hard to visit and place flowers when you can't even get near the site! You would think on a day when many families visit gravesites watering would be done the night before or not at all! This is just one of the many problems I have had with this cemetery, the other problems were much worse. And guess what, supervisors are never available to speak to!
the office people at this location suck, they do not know what they are doing. they even moved our loved one to a different room without notifying the family and were also very rude when we asked why she was moved. Then they didn't put the obituary until 2 days AFTER our loved one was buried, and still with them doing that they still got the obituary wrong after 2 tries. misspelling names, forgetting names, and even adding a name of some unknown person. if I could I would put zero stars for this place. therefore I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone..
Funeral director for our funeral, Carina/Karina Soto was very unprofessional with her mannerisms. There was a technical issue with the media diaplayed and she entered the room with a sassy attitude and speaking loudly for no reason. The other staff were quiet and respectful when entering the space. There was a typo of the year the family member was born on the obituary cards. The rosary was delayed. Hopefully more prepared staff can handle future funerals. Lastly, there is poor maintenance, there is a water feature that has old obituary cards and algae.
We had an inurnment scheduled for 11am on the 15th of January which is a Saturday. We got there at 10:30 AM only to find the mowers working in our section! The wind was really strong and so we couldn’t even get out of our cars until they finished at 11:15 AM. We called several times complaining and they were instructed to leave, which they ignored. Our site was dirty and no one was there with the container to place the urn in when buried. An emotional day was made worse with the unnecessary stress over terrible service!
I leave a one star because I have to in order to leave review. My heart has been ripped from my chest by this place. They are in the business of burying one’s loved ones without questioning. MARY informed me that anyone can bring a body to be buried here all you need is a date of birth along with payment. Nothing else. My father was buried this way. By the very person who is being investigated for his passing.I hope that no one ever goes through what me and my family are going through now and forever will be.
I have been bringing flowers to my parents and grandmother’s graves for all major holidays and their birthdays only to find them gone the next time I go with the rare exception of last fall. With the way the holidays and their birthdays fall I am there nearly every 4-6 weeks. There are other flowers around that look like they have been there for years but mine are always gone. I mean the whole vase and flowers not just the flowers. This is VERY frustrating and expensive
I buried my first poodle “Bridget” in about 1993 in their pet cemetery. At that time, everything went well. I now have another poodle “Chloe” that needs to be buried. I was going to use Mission Park Pet Cemetery again on SE Military where my first one was buried. Until I read all the bad reviews about how they treated people burials. I did call several times and no one returned my calls. If they treat people that badly heaven knows how they would treat pets!
website states that they do pet cremation. I called to inquire. before i could finish my sentence, the lady cut me off and told me they do not do pet cremation and informed me she had to go on a death call and ended the call. I understand the funeral industry, and that you have a death call. but be compassionate...but hey, even though he was a pet and not a human- I'm grieving too.
The service went beautifully for my granny Luz Gonzales. We have Mia to thank. She did a wonderful job and helped us get the church we wanted and a priest for the mass on very short notice. She coordinated everything perfectly and everything fell into place just in time. Thank you Mia and everyone who took part in making the funeral service exactly as my granny would have wanted.
If I could leave no stars I would have. Very unsatisfied with the way things were "handled" for my loved one and his family. Poor service. Chuch was not confirmed (so no rosary or any service was held. This time is a sensitive one and it got worse with nothing being in order( the family had so much to deal with and this added more burden to the family.
Yes, the cemetery on the north side is very pretty. Our parents prepaid for yard maintenance. I feel they were cheated. They need to give us refund or start taking care on the south side where it began. My parents are by Matthew and Mark, how would the apostles feel ? Just water and groom please ? Add some pretty plants?
The burial area of my parents had not been cleaned since Christmas. The markers had old flowers And all around the site was trash. I picked up Xmas flowers, Valentines flowers and Mother’s days flowers and trash. The rest of the other sites Around were also trashy. Unacceptable. But the cemetery on Northside is cleaner.
Mr. Robert Tips: thank you for the beautiful service to my husband.I need a favor. Could you fix the driveway to the mausoleum for handicap people? I am 91 years old and I am in the wheelchair. And I want to go to visit my son and my husband now. Please try to help and help me . Thank you. Yolanda Gonzalez.
Lack of communication. We ordered a $500 casket layout and the flowers are wilted. They told us we would have the chapel for two days and on the second date they switched us to a smaller room. We needed the chapel because we have a very big family of about 100 people and the second room fits maybe half.
We have had family out here for years. They don't take care of the property, there is trash EVERYWHERE. There is no way to water flowers or the grass. They talk about beauty at their sites but there is no beauty at this one. Very poor considering how much we've spent with this company.
I want to thank Sabrina, Mia and Mr. John(not sure of his last name). They all exhibited patience with me, explaining the whole process of working with Ft. Sam Houston. I had many questions. Thank you all for your compassion, patience. God Bless you all for the work you do daily.
This is the most incompetent place to have a funeral. The disorganization, total lack of communication, follow up and follow through is ridiculous. Everyone that works here is titled “Funeral Director” but no one actually takes charge or initiative to do anything. **Stay Away**
Anita Reyes was an amazing funeral director to work. Very knowledgeable and professional, she answered all concerns we had and returned phone calls promptly. She made this difficult time easy and smooth to plan the funeral of our loved one. We greatly appreciate you!
We were assisted by Marina at Mission Park South with the arrangements for my mom. Marina was very polite, helpful and so knowledgeable about taking care of our needs. She went above and beyond our expectations. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.
I went to mission park south to coordinate a funeral for my father. They were so kind and helpful. They coodinated our service on fort sam, saving us the trouble during such a sad time. The visitation rooms are beautiful, and they took such
My parents are buried at Mission Park Funeral South they invested their hard earned money to plan their final resting place together but where they are located they have had a corroded water pipe that has already in past to which we had to
Going to Mission Park south on Fathers Day was so very disappointing. There were high weeds everywhere and we could not visit family gravesites because the ‘stickers’ were so abundant and high. I’ve never seen Mission Park look so bad. It
The staff and Directors need a crash course on customer service and empathy for grieving families. You would think after the negative news and possible lawsuits they would be more focused on improving their image. it's not like our family
I honestly wish I could state by words my review. IM DEFINATELY not happy with this place. AND now that I read the reviews, I should have known better. My daughter passed away from Ovarian Cancer 26 yrs old and fought for 3 years of her
Customer service sucks....point blank period... Can't take blame for there mistakes..or say apologize just ugly ppl... After 3years my moms spot has NEVER been cleaned up like I saw it today Im mad
Less than a month after my mother was buried here, her tombstone was broken in half, and the grave site was run over by heavy vehicle.
Everything was wonderful heartfelt an endearing thank you so much
Mission Park is a good family, friendly, company! …
