"An absolutely wonderful place to go birding"
"The Audubon center had great birding and hiking trails"
"When we went there were some closures due to rainy weather the days before so we couldn't explore it all but what we could see was a great walk"
"Wonderful park with lots of wildlife to enjoy! We saw lots of birds including kestrels, caracaras, and stilts"
"In a city where great birding sites often fall victim to indifference (yes, Tom Slick Park, te estoy vigilando), this place is a gem"
An absolutely wonderful place to go birding. It's always a work in progress with grassland restoration but a beautiful place. I am so grateful this place is still here. I came here in the late 1980s and early 1990s and its still the same. It is an amazing birding site. More
The Audubon center had great birding and hiking trails. This site is open to the public and provides a great birding experience for a low cost. They provide bird guides available complete with pictures to allow for easy identification for even the most novice of birders.
When we went there were some closures due to rainy weather the days before so we couldn't explore it all but what we could see was a great walk. The reason for 4 stars is because some of the bird watch spots looked a bit rundown and could give splinters if not careful.
Wonderful park with lots of wildlife to enjoy! We saw lots of birds including kestrels, caracaras, and stilts. The garden by the visitor center was absolutely FLUSH with butterflies too! Do be cautious if you go early as the spiders like to
In a city where great birding sites often fall victim to indifference (yes, Tom Slick Park, te estoy vigilando), this place is a gem. You can walk as much as you want, but there is also plenty to see by car, which has been a great boon when
Beautiful gem of San Antonio hidden away on the south side! Amazing trails for hiking with several that you can also drive on because it's such a big place. Amazing bird watching, we went in December during duck season and saw thousands of
Very dry we weren't told that prior to our heading tickets online. There was a water main break and saws had areas closed off. We took our 3 boys. Our oldest 8 yr old is learning about the wetlands and wanted to visit. We also had our 6yr
Quite an interesting place to visit in San Antonio. You'll have no regrets if you're searching for egrets. We saw a lot of them in the basins. The basins start off dry, then boggy, and the full of water. I would not recommend the walking
It’s not a bad place to get outside and enjoy some wildlife. This place is a perfectly maintained spot for those birds migrating through South Texas during the fall, or the spring. If you go during the right time of the year, you should
I got involved with birding later in life and Mitchell Lake Audubon Center has had a regular visitor in me. I owe so much to this place. Not only is the birding top notched, but the employees that I have encountered have been fantastic.
Great nature spot, but try to enjoy it with the loud gunshot noises coming from the nearby gun range. It kind of defeats the purpose to even call this a nature preserve. For as bland and dried up as San Antonio is, we thought this place
My sons 3rd grade class went to this fantastic place today. We experienced many things including info of wetland plants & animals. Our leader was excellent and very knowledgeable The class learned several new words and filled out their
Awesome place to enjoy nature. Great birding place, but there is also plenty of beautiful plant life to admire. We only did the driving trail because we were in a bit of a hurry but plan to return to do the walking trail.
Good park but it was 12:55 pm and the gate wouldn't open at all. We went to the office and on the door it said 7:00 to 2:00. We kept going over the sensor over and over again. So we called a non emergency
Well first every path was closed and no water what so ever and charged 5 bucks for to see dry ponds and lake not fun nor worth it should have been told all paths were closed not just two More
I love this place! Great family atmosphere - friendly and knowledgable guides! Great for hiking, meditating, and appreciating nature! Can't wait to go back!!!!❤
There were no visible animals and no food like sandwiches or lunch boxes just soda and chips. Lots of Mosquitoes and no A/C location for kids to cool off. More
The place is great for birding, so many species can be found. Become a member and get free admission, or pay a nominal fee for a day pass, it's worth it. More
Beautiful trails with ample opportunity for bird watching. We also saw tons of turtles at the water. Lots of butterflies and cool stuff at the gift shop! More
Informative nature walk and discussion of wetlands and how to keep the environment safe for our 500+ species of birds of Texas. Best $5 I have ever spent!
Went on a very rainy morning, most of the space was closed, but even in the small span that was open - I got a lot of birds! Definitely worth a visit!
I did a paid internship here years ago. Still love this place! Customer service is worth going to the vistor center instead of buying online. More
Awesome place!! Drive trails and walking trails and neat birds and other creatures!! Love this place. First time and already a favorite!! More
Yesterday was the first time I've ever visit this place and I felt like I was on vacation. Very unique I would love to come back
Simply love the great job they do in the preservation of natural habitat for many birds and ducks; as well as migratory birds.
This is definitely one of San Antonio's most precious hidden gems! It made for a perfect outing with my daughter! More
Excellent birding spot. We did the guided tour. Our tour guide, Andy, is very knowledgeable.
