This place is really clean, and the birds, animals and creatures are well looked after, was surprised to find that I was in for more than just birds, walk In a habitat with lemurs and small diekers walking around free and multiple birds. Really great experience for the little ones they loved it. We were also spoilt with a short but sweet bird show with some trained birds. Then after the kids could play in a playground while we sat and had a bite to eat. Food is not gourmet in anyway, but that's a small issue. Great place and well done to the staff who work and manage this facility.

Really great area for kids to play and enjoy themselves, only 1 way in and out, close to tables for parents to sit at with a view of flamingo habitat.

First time visiting the place. I'm pleasantly surprised with how well the place is managed. Great upkeep, very neat, clean, and smell free areas compared to other outdoor bird and animal places. There's an entrance fee. A lot more than just birds, there are reptiles, tortoises, and a variety of birds, of which some are not enclosed in cages, which was delightful. Large pelicans, ducks, swans, picturesque landscapes. An informative bird show twice a day (11h00 and 15h00) with a toucan coming up close. A shop on site and kids play ground. Rest rooms available. Not Halaal. Cool drinks, juices, ice creams and Chips can be purchased. Short walk out of the bird garden and into Monte Casinos dining area presents halaal food options for those looking.

This is one of many visits that we have taken to the Bird Park. I have to say that, this time, it was not the best experience. The cages were not the cleanest and some of the windows were very 'cloudy'. The bird show was hardly ten minutes long with the excuse that it was windy. It was not particularly so. We saw 4 birds. The water/dam area down at the bottom is filthy and smells awful. There are definitely not enough toilets. On a positive note, the coffee shop and play area is lovely. Would I go back? Not in a hurry.

My family loved it. It's just big enough to get your muscles working in the open air but small enough to not become monotonous. The animals are all well-kept and have the freedom to roam the main enclosure so you get a real sense for the animals as you would find them out in the wild. The gardens are beautiful, and my kids enjoyed the bird show. There's a lovely cafe at the entrance with a play area for the kids next to the flamingo enclosure, which really does make for a brilliant wild experience right on our doorstep.

My kids absolutely loved it. Wide selection of birds and reptiles including some very rare frogs and th world oldest anaconda in captivity. Theres also a large net cage are where you can walk among the birds and few other animals such as lemurs. Fierce creatures was also very interesting though there were quite a few exhobits under construction. On site cafe had a basic snack and lunch menu but the food tasted great. There is also a large kids play area for them to burn off some energy while you grab a bite! Highly recommend this experience for young kids!

Fantastic place to take the family. Dress comfortably as there is a lot of walking around, pram and stroller friendly. Self paced enjoyment and education for the family. Bird food given to encourage interactiveness especially for the kids. Wide assortment of animals! Birds, snakes, bats etc. A live show in the shaded amphitheatre is held at 11am and 3pm. To top it off the kids can have fun at a play area whilst you watch them from the seated area which has its own restaurant. Wonderful way to spend time with the ones you love ❤️

This park is so beautiful and well kept,we were enjoying the birds,reptiles and feeding the ducks...until I seen a huge rat ,at first we thought it was only in the aviary.. however they were running wild everywhere in the park,also in the kiddies play area . That is so disgusting and dangerous . Running in the walkways .. past the slides and kids. I was ready to give this park a 5 star rating until seen the rodents Running wild. It's a big no from me..my family will not be visiting again until they clear that infestation

Mostly resteraunts, occasional clothing shops, M/F toilets, huge Casino- inside usual tables, and lots of slot machines, you can win anything from your money back to a car to huge cash prizes. Everything is under cover, so weather is kept out. Its air conditioned. It is disabled friendly. Staff at hand to help if needed. Close by next to the place is a bird sanctuary. Thiers plenty of parkinng underground, and taxi drop off points. Thiers cash machine points dotted around as well.

Really lovely walking space. The Flamingo Café was slightly in a lack of lustre. If you want to quickly grab a cup of coffee or just a quick soft drink. Then it is okay. Otherwise the area is exceptionally clean. A few birds and animals were removed from their displays. The bird show is good. Just much shorter than what I would have thought?

Absolutely stunning. The place is clean as can be and the animals are very well taken care of. I am impressed. I loved the whole experience and hubby and I were lucky enough to have the birds literally eat out of our hands. Definitely a place to visit with family of all ages. Wear comfy shoes. If you have strollers and wheelchairs make sure to stick to the paths but it is a lot of exercise. There is a small cafe with a lovely outdoor play area for the children.

It's a beautiful clean place to go visit the birds. There is a small restaurant as you enter for some snacks and if you want a alcohol slashie... Very delicious. Lots to see and great place to bring your kids. R105 for adults R70 for kids age 1 to 12 years. If u have a monte card you get discount. They have a bride show at 1pm and another at 3pm that's about 15mins long

The garden is beautiful maintained and clean and boasts stunning birds as well as reptiles (snakes, frogs) and small mammals. You can walk through some enclosures which is awesome! The entrance fees are very reasonable based on the upkeep of the gardens. We also watched a bird show which was short but sweet and entertaining! The only sad thing was seeing how empty some of the little pools/ dams were in certain enclosures on such a hot day!

Overall good experience for my partner and I Very nice bird park, lots of animals to look at. A good hour to 2 of fun. However reading some of these reviews and going back to my experience there is quite a bad rat infestation there next to the flamingo Cafe. It was quite shocking how the amount of rats there just roam freely and eat the food for the birds. I'd gladly give it a 5 star review once the rat problem is sorted.

Absolutely stunning bird park - birds and enclosures look well looked after. The frog room was a huge let down, very dirty cages, crickets still running around cages and room itself. Spiders have made webs in the cages where the spiders aren’t kept. The reptile room on the other had was very well looked after. The aviary was lovely and very interactive. Would definitely recommend getting at least 3 duck food packets.

The gardens were very well kept and all animals looked happy and healthy. It was a lovely morning out. The bird show was a little shorter than usual with only 4 birds being shown but it might be because it was a Sunday.

Fantastic playground for kids to play and well situated next to the restaurant. The artificial grass is however scolding hot in the sun but not a problem with shoes on.

PRICE IS R90 but after 15:00 prices are R62 because there's no more acts and the park is about to close. There is alot of birds, Amphibians and Reptiles to see so the earlier one goes the better. THE ENVIRONMENT IS CLEAN AND THE ANIMALS ARE VERY FRIENDLY NO NEED TO BE SCARED. The people who work there are very friendly. The place is beautiful. Thank you Bird Garden for a wonderful experience.

Very Nice and highly Recommended. Very friendly staff except for the guy at the Ticket Sales. Otherwise Very clean and lots of fun. The Bird show was very nice and entertaining. We loved every bit of it and we also got a chance to meet an owl and have our picture taken with her. I will definitely go again and can highly recommend it. Keep up the great job you guys.

Visiting the Bird Gardens is always a treat! A beautiful place that is well taken care of and full of healthy animals. The whole area is stroller/wheelchair friendly. The educational shows twice a day is very informative and just long enough to keep little minds captivated. I have never seen litter there and the bathrooms are super clean. Wonderful outing!

Visited monte casino and the bird gardens, lovely place to visit, easy access for wheelchairs, which was a main concern, except for one or two places, access is quite easy. One or two places where the gradient is a little bit steep but overcome easily if one goes up backwards or needs a little bit of an arm workout. Overall very enjoyable place to visit.

Monte bird park is a great place to take a walk around and check out some really cool birds. The park is very well maintained and the bird show they put on is informative and nice to see. Really worth taking the kids there or just going for a walk with the birds.

What an incredible experience! The variety of birds and reptiles were spectacular. The aviaries were a lot bigger, cleaner and we'll thought through than I expected. Would highly recommend going here with family or a loved one. I wish the bird show was slightly longer with more birds on show but otherwise an amazing experience.

A great place to take the family, the flamingo resturaunt has tastey and cheap food so you won't break the bank for the day. The animals are well looked after and the enclosures they have built are quite something to see (beautifully done). The variety of species are not your 'typical' animals, pretty interesting actually.

The bird garden reminds me of my childhood as I used to go pretty often. Staff are ok. However, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of reptiles, couldn't find most of them. And no more bird shows but I think they will be coming back soon. But it was a nostalgic, memorable. Definitely fun for kids and as a little date

Great place for families! The bird show is entertaining, the landscaping is beautiful, and everything is arranged to see the animals well. More than birds, too, including lemurs, monkeys, lizards, and snakes. Nice outdoor restaurant with a good view of the flamingos and peacocks, and plenty more inside Montecasino.

Please but the duck food at the entrance when purchasing your ticket. The ducks are so eager for you to feed them. It is very sweet. Hope you enjoy!

This was such an awesome treat which I highly recommend for anyone looking for an affordable morning or afternoon out in the sun. The gardens are pristinely kept and the birds and other animals are well looked after. Take a moment to appreciate natures beauty.

A decently large variety of birds as well as a few reptiles, monkeys and whatever else is being rehabilitated at the time. Good fun for toddlers and kids. There are birds shows as well which are quite entertaining. There's a small restaurant at the entrance with a large play area / jungle gym for kids.

The Monte Casino Bird Gardens is a beautiful and clean place. Great for a day break away to have fun with the family. Unfortunately we misses the bird show, but still enjoyed the park. Feeding time for the pelicans was very cute. They were all marching in a row down hill to get their piece of fish.

Bird Gardens is an affordable and great place to visit for people of all ages. There's so much to see. We were there for around 80 minutes. My highlight was the bird show. There's a shop there for snacks and drinks. When you visit, remember to wear comfy shoes and take a hat if it's a hot day.

Awesome experience! Really didn't expect it to be as great as it was. There are a lot of birds just roaming around. It's very clean with good living conditions for the Animals. There are birds, snakes, and many more. The bird show was very cool, it was about half an hour, not too be missed.

We really enjoyed the gardens. The bird show was very entertaining. Love the fierce creatures display hidden inside the main avery. Clean, safe and reasonably priced. Cafe Flamingo service was great, we enjoyed lunch here with open air jungle gym for kids and a view over the flamingo pond.

Beautiful place with enchanting walkways. The garden has many birds, reptiles and mammals species. There's a show at the amphitheater every afternoon. R90 entrance fee and you can buy duck food to feed the ducks in the park. I absolutely enjoyed my visit to the place

Nice place to visit and have some “interaction” with the birds. Sadly the bird show ( all 4 birds ) was a bust. The last time I was there the show was the biggest crowd pleaser of all. Telling my daughter about it and what she saw was not even in the same category.

Really neat and tidy, interesting selection of birds available to see. The show, while brief, was informative and fun. They have snake, spider and frog exhibits in addition to their birds, as well as lemurs and one monkey cage. Really enjoyable experience.

Just outstanding! Several creatures in close as possible natural habitats. Even its called bird gardens, you can find snakes, mammals, insects and exotic creatures. After 3pm, bird gardens offers discounted tickets. Souvenirs can be found at ticket office.

I have been here a few times and they never disappoint. I do host many foreigners and love to bring them here. The grounds, cages and facilities are very clean and well looked after. To have a spot like this in the middle of Johannesburg is amazing.

Its good for a relaxing day out with the family. The gardens are very well manicured and ponds look pristine. A modest selection of birds but should still excite most youngsters. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Its a good day out for the kids. The exhibits and animals are well curated and looked after. It's not overly big, but you can easily spend 2 hours walking around.
