Beautiful cemetery, I come here often to visit my grandmother. Although, today when I came to visit her, I parked right off the road path with two wheels on the grass, there was NO headstones near by. Most times I bring my small dog with me which I did today because my grandmother loved him so much… and as we are walking back to the car, the Indian security pulls up behind me saying I’m parked on a gravestone and that my dog (who is 13 and can barely walk) was off leash… I’ve been to this cemetery many times and almost all visitors I see have their dog off leash! I would never in a million years disrespect the dead by rolling my car on top of a gravestone. He was EXTREMELY rude with me and proceeded to write me a fake ticket and deny the fact that my grandmother is not buried here. I usually always leave this place with a peace of mind but today this guy completely ruined my day. To the managers of the cemetery, I suggest looking into this security officer, he obviously takes his personal life issues out on visitors who have done nothing wrong. There was absolutely no reason for him to approach me today.
this place is huge! a beautiful cemetery that feels like a park (and is a very popular place to stroll, jog, or ride a bicycle). The most impressive are mausoleums of Toronto prominent families like Eaton and Massey. The cemetery is divided by Mount Pleasant Road, however there is an underpass connection that allows walking between two parts without necessity of crossing the busy thoroughfare. Watch out for the traffic - some cars drive quite fast (so do cyclists in warmer months). The place can get busy during the workdays (maintenance) but it's quiet in the evenings and on weekends. Despite numerous maps and marked roads, one can get lost there, it is so vast. one of the entrances leads to the Moore Park Ravine, another connects with Kay Gardner Beltline Trail, so there are many opportunities for extended walks. The cemetery is in a great shape and very well maintained, it is a true pleasure to visit, and take a break from the busy streets surrounding the place.

Terrible service for funeral we had for my mom. Prepaid funeral no help from the person assigned to us. Grace from the grave side was compassionate and helpful but the person assigned to us for the funeral did nothing. She went away and left us high and dry. I had to search out help from other funeral directors. Mount pleasant cemeteries does not care about you after they receive your money. We received a card 1year after my brother died from McDougall and Brown Funeral Home on Kingston Rd. Nothing from pine Hill or Mount pleasant cemeteries. I hope no one has to go through what I did. Getting money back from services that could not take place because of Covid was a lengthy process not to say frustrating. Not a funeral home I would recommend anyone to deal with....
I finally returned to vist my grandparents resting place after many years being out of the country. I can honestly say I was disgusted with the way dog walkers, joggers and cyclists here. Not once did any of them yield to our car. We had to go around them. Joggers jogging side by side, bicyclists riding side by side even dog walkers walking up the middle of the road. It is a beautiful cemetary not a park. If your going there for recreation please respect the visitors visiting their loved ones and move to the side. I saw two dogs running unleashed up and down and between the headstones. I was not impressed at all. This is completely unacceptable. Overall had a lovely visit with my grandparents but the recreational users ruined it for me.
I was impressed with everyone I dealt with in handling my friend's cremation, service, and internment. Macey provided excellent service and I was especially impressed with the program and mementos made for the memorial service, held in the funeral centre's gathering hall. When Macey wasn't available, other directors stepped in very professionally and were just as helpful. I was also very impressed with the staff on duty at the service. Scott at the cemetery office handled the interment and was certainly had the same high standards that I had come to expect. Thank-you to all who assisted us throughout the process. Your kindness, professionalism and even your wonderful sense of humour was all very much appreciated.
One of my greatest pleasures is walking around here on a beautiful day. I can't wait to be dust. I'll change my name. Dusty Springfield. It's so well maintained here I get so high. Between the various styles- the art representing loved ones and the masonry across a breadth of centuries, one can't help but want to die. I have family here. They're always hiding somewhere behind a wreath or a gargoyle. Jk I don't have family here. They are dead in a different area of the city. I won't compare their resting places to this one- that's like comparing apples into a square-hole. Walking around here blazed can be my fave psychological-thriller if I just believe in myself, amirite ladies in the ground. It's delightful.
Feel free to choose this location for your family's final resting place, however be prepared for a shock and be disrespected when you arrive for the burial service and they have another persons first name listed. When I contacted the office to get this corrected, they were only concerned about us being 1 hour early (however we were right on time) and felt a simple reprint to put the family at ease. However this never even occurred. Let's see how long it takes them to issue the family an official apology and compensation. The shock of seeing someone else's name is extremely hurtful, disrespected and makes you feel like nothing more than a number to them, a transaction.
One of Canada's most historic cemeteries, Mount Pleasant has served the Toronto area and public for years. Beautifully carved and sculptured, but also it is a very beautiful and well-maintained gardens areas that provides splendid views in every season. It is a safe place to have your daily walk in the heart of midtown Toronto (Respectfully obviously) Grounds are very well maintained and there are many paths within the cemetery both accessible by car and foot. One of the largest cemetery's in Toronto and most beautiful during the winter season after a snow fall and sunny day makes for a very pleasant visit.
I regularly go running here to avoid traffic. However this morning and employee of the Cemetery nearly left turned over me while in the cemetery on a run, then yelled at me to "watch where I was going" AND then tried to hide. One of her defences was, "I was just going slowly." As though driving slowly over people makes it OK. The way employees treat members of the general public is very telling of an organization. Don't expect this to be a safe place to go if their own employees can't conduct themselves in a safe manner.
I've always loved Cemeteries. In the number one place is Mnt. Pleasant. It's a beautiful arboretum as well. Rolling hills, meadows, areas which seem as if you'd arrived at the 'cottage' and stepped into a forested. I rode my bike throughout looking for our family plot. One beautiful Spring /early Summer day, I believe I was literally led there by those who had gone ahead. If you've ever been there, you'd understand how miraculous this was. We buried my father, C. Jeffares McCombe LLB, QC almost 2 years to the day.
Beautiful cemetery, great for a calming walk, especially in the fall time. Some of the gravestones are huge and a true work of art, some are literally the size of houses. Really puts things in perspective on how finite our lives are and really makes you grateful and appreciative for every moment you are alive. As someone who loves cemeteries, graveyards, funerals and Halloween, this is easily one of my favorite places in Toronto
So glad that that our family plot is at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. It is one of my favorite places to walk. Always so well maintained thanks to Billy and his gardening team. I love that it is often referred to as a park as it provides a variety of different trees and spectacular garden venues and historical tributes. Such a wonderful year round oasis in the city of Toronto! With gratitude, Rosemarie Taylor
What is going on with Mt. Pleasant Cemetery off Mt. Pleasant, north of St. Clair east side? My family has had their plot there since 1936. We went to visit the other day and there are graves put into tiny spots and some that will come right up to our families stones. The graves aren't even filled in it's terrible. What is going on Mount Pleasant? You can't even walk to my family's plot now without walking over a grave?
1st they showed up 15 minutes late to the gravesite on the day my husband was buried. And in the 5 months following his burial they haven’t returned one phone call I’ve made to get information on placing a foot marker and engraving on existing headstone. They also have not responded to a monument place that will do the marker and engraving! Just plain disrespectful and rude!
Very calm and very pleasant experience walking around the cemetery. A great place for morning walkers. Going around inside gives a different perspective of life. You will witness a different life. It is indeed an amazing place to see cherry blossoms too of course if you are lucky enough to visit in the right time. You have several entrance from different directions.
Who knew walking amongst our ancestors would be so peaceful, reflective, and meditative. We got our walk-in as well as taking time to pause and read the beautiful gravestone sentiments from the living to their loved ones. A gorgeous, well-maintained cemetery to stroll walk ,run bike or just to read ..#thezenrealtorsrq enjoying the moments that life offers us ..
This company really went above and beyond in assisting my gf’s family to put her father to rest. The gentleman Simon was extremely helpful, caring, and guided us through this very difficult time In our lives. Thank you Mt. Pleasant for providing such excellent customer service and providing us a piece of mind knowing that our loved one is in great hands.
Lovely peaceful well kept property ...but to get there by having to navigate past those inconsiderate entitled bicyclists who swarm the Mount Pleasant Road sidewalks is a nuisance. Those disgusting bicyclists should be on the road, and the women bicyclists are biggest sidewalk hogs. We have trails and bike road lanes but they are reluctant to use them.
Not only is it close to home but a beautiful place to be laid to rest. A big tear for a great friend and colleague. You where and still are a legend, Thanks for all you did throughout my career. See ya in a while Carlton... I'll be by again soon to share a beer and see how you are doing. RIP pal, I am sure you are good hands. We all miss you, cheers!
As a rights holder in Mt Pleasant I can tell you the team that supported me as I planned for my love one's final resting place was amazing. The care that they demonstrated from the planning process was appreciated and you can see that in the way the entire property is maintained and how open they are to the public using the space
Beautiful and extensive grounds in the heart of the city. Mature trees and manicured landscape along with the solemnity of the burial scenes. It's a place full of history and an excellent place to walk, bike, or run. It doesn't feel disrespected. On the contrary, the are has become a neighborhood icon and a must visit.
This is a very well kept up grounds this is why i bought a plot for my mom and dad over lòoking the trains that go by off young st north and south they both loved the rides going to work and back home .they are in the Creamation season 2430 Charles and Ilean i try to get down here 4 times a year to talk to them.
One of the most peaceful, majestic places I've been to. Beautiful headstones, statues, ghastly gargoyles, ancient mausoleums, grand old trees, glorious vistas, long trails, walkways and a couple hundred years of history. I definitely recommend this amazing place if you enjoy peace, quiet and Victorian vibes!
I thought I knew a lot about the cemetery, having enjoyed walking through it many times. Today I joined the walking tour hosted by Chantal of Toronto Cemetery Tours. I discovered new areas and learned about the many famous people that are buried there. An excellent tour guide!
The cemetery is very beautiful the landscape is amazing the staff is wonderful and and caring I enjoy driving through it as I go see my mom and brother they made it really easy and comfortable when I buried my mom thank you Mount Pleasant for this wonderful moments of my Life
Took the Tales of Mount Pleasant tour and walked for about 2 hours with hundreds of people in a beautiful autumn afternoon. Glad there is a place like this in Toronto. It is huge, make sure bring enough water with you, as the water from the blue tabs are not drinkable.
To everyone who goes to the Eaton centre or Yorkdale mall to hangout, go here if you can. Its easily one of the most beautiful and historically important places in the city. Its just an amazing place to soak in nature. Definitely stop by the Forest of Remembrance.
Beautiful Garden, easy assess and right near the heart of Toronto. Well maintain garden with plenty of trees and flowers. The fall is particularly beautiful with leaves changing colors. The fountain and clean surrounding made visiting the love ones more pleasant.
A beautiful, large and well maintained cemetery. You will notice all sort of grave markers, large mausoleums, creative pieces of art, or intricately carved sculptures. Perfect for a walk and a slow 10km/hour bike ride. Enjoy - but quietly and respectfully!
The best place for a walk in any season. We bring our dog here, on leash of course throughout the year. It's extremely peaceful and the grounds are well taken care of. Cherry blossoms are also here which is a great option as opposed to crowded high park!
Beautiful well maintained cemetery in mid town Toronto. Many people cut through here for walks and go running through this cemetery. It’s a nice place for new photographers to capture nature especially in the fall with the changing colour of leaves.
This cemetery is always a must see when I’m in Toronto. It’s big enough to get lost in but still the whole place is very well maintained and full of beautiful trees, flowers, fountains, and sculptures. It’s a very lovely place to go for a stroll
A beautiful cemetery to go for a stroll or a bike ride through on a nice day. It is a space that has a lot of history and one of Canada's most influential Prime Ministers, Mackenzie King, I'd buried here. Worth a visit for any history buff.
Well, paying respect is part of life for those that have had departed loved ones. This is a well-maintained cemetery in the heart of Toronto. Lots of runners and cyclists taking advantage of the tranquility of the grounds and huge trees.
It's honorable for me to participate in Canadian Remembrance Day event. This is a beautiful area fulfilled with love and missing about their family members or national heroes. We should learn lessons from their noble sacrifice.
A giant cemetery with a lot of intricate art work. While there are a lot of open areas, there are enough little hidden refuges just off the side of the main roads where you can take solace and sit for a while.
For sheer beauty of landscape and layout, I vote this the second most beautiful cemetery, after first-place Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia, and just ahead of the Protestant Cemetery in Rome.
200 acres of well maintained cemetery with small graves to large masoleums. Serene atmosphere for a stroll or bike ride through the paths inside. You won't find any such place in the city.
It was a peaceful place to rest for years and years :( Below is my research about Mount Pleasant Cemetery: Mount Pleasant Cemetery is a historic cemetery located in the heart of Toronto,
It’s a beautiful and very well maintained place to walk, a cemetery that feels like a park. It’s very big and very green. I really enjoyed my morning walk around here with my friends
Brilliantly designed (especially between Yonge and Mount Pleasant) and maintained cemetery that allows you to trace the history of our city. Great place to cycle or jog.
Did'nt give my family a condolence book to sign..had to ask for it ...no memories card for family and friends to take..was not very happy with my experince...
So beautiful and well kept, I am highly impressed with the amount of love and care that was put into this place. Very relaxing and peaceful to walk around.
An excellent place to think deeply and talk to yourself . One on my favorite place to relax and enjoy beautiful nature when I immigrated to Canada in 2015.
I've never been here, but when I go to work, I used to passed by this place. Seems to be hauntingly beautiful. Will visit this place very soon. …
Mount Pleasant cemetery is beautiful space, mature trees flowers, calm and quiet. One of my favourite place to go and meditate. They close at 8 p.m.
Amazing place to go for your summer walks! Loved every bit of it. There are also some trails and cycling paths. It's well maintained and gorgeous.
It is a beautiful cemetery for a good walk. I heard the trees are beautiful in the spring time so I can't wait to see the trees bloom this spring!
Very welcoming place for a walk, beautiful and historic. Links Beltline trail on both sides, though only partially sign posted so use Google maps!
The cemetery starts at Yonge St. and extends to Bayview Ave. Not only is it home to large mausoleums and beautifully carved sculptures, but
There are so many dead and dying trees, the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Group should take better care of one of Canada's foremost arboretums!
Today 2 large COYOTE s roaming south and east of the large maintenance area October 23 at 1.30 pm.Third time I've seen in last 4 weeks.
It's very, very big so make sure you look at its map before you go grave hunting. Plot/lot number markers are hard to find and read.
This place depicts the true meaning of "RIP" for the late and living . Well maintained in all aspects throughout the year. …
This a favourite place to ride my bike. The grounds are very well cared for and the multipurpose use is tasteful and respectful.
This place is special to me. Because Glenn Gould, one of the greatest pianists who was born and died in Toronto, rests in peace.
Nice walking paths, biking, benches. It's connected to the beautiful beltline, with a gorgeous bridge over Yonge Street nearby.
I love walking around here. I have family buried here and could not have asked for a better place for them to be laid to rest.
Cemetery can often be looked at as creppy places, but this one is just different. Awesome place, to walk and clear your mind.
Beautiful cemetery. Old trees and well maintained grounds. Canada's tenth prime minister Mackenzie King is buried here.
A tranquil place to reflect, walk and appreciate life. The grounds are maintained very well with care and compassion.
Amazing to see how far back some of these tombstones go - many of them have been around for most of the 20th century.
Really wonderful place to walk and ride bike in. Surrounded with flowers and trees. Enjoy your summer walking here.
Beautiful . Gardens and ponds are so nice and they even supply bucket and hoses so you can water your flowers
looking forward to being cremated here, hopefully they accept my request for a darth vader style bonfire
Beautiful cemetery, spectacular in the fall with all the beautiful colors. Great for walks, or strolls.
Family is buried there. Over run with joggers. So very disrespectful I can no longer visit. Disgusting.
Pricey. Respectful service, but as the other reviewer said, lots of joggers and other random people.
It is a charming cemetery away from the noisy city ; a perfect place to walk, relax and reflect
A very serene place with beautiful trees and vistas. Great for a calming and reflective stroll
Saw a naked man running through the park today its great to see the community coming together.
It’s not just a simple cemetery. It’s a great, and peaceful place to walk and enjoy your day!
Mount Pleasant cemetery is a beautiful place to visit and the grounds are really well kept.
Staff was very helpful and compassionate making final decisions for the loss of my mother.
Was cycling with a friend here today. It was a nice relaxing ride with plenty to look at.
My friend's father is buried here. He was a good man, may God give him a place in haven.

The welcome center was open and kind to our family, and the services were nicely done.
The nicest cemetery in the city. Beautiful walks. Impressive collection of trees.

It a large area pleasing to the eyes and great to visit during dark
Excellent place to walk, bike, or run. Pet friendly as well
Spring and Autumn you will often see Cayote and Deer.
