I bought a combi-ticket for this and the ghost museum and...I don't know... it's largely skippable. It's nicely decorated but kinda cheap looking at times. The guided part of the tour were kinda hard to understand and for the most part it's just a reading experience. Texts upon texts of information about stuff I barely remember now. What I do remember is thinking that I could read that up on Wikipedia though. Mainly I am confused about who this is for? Because I could see it being a nice 'chamber of horrors' type of attraction for kids but then again there's all this reading that you can't really expect children to do. If you didn't stop to read every piece of information the experience lasts about 15 Minutes. Considering what you get from it the tickets are far too expensive. I don't know. I'm kinda disappointed. If you're looking for an actual inside into alchemy in Prague go to the 'Speculum Alchemiae' The connecting bar is cool though. It's themed after an alchemical laboratory and they take the theme very seriously. The drinks are sort of expensive but it's worth to stop by.

The museum has two parts: one on the ground floor with background of alchemy and the other part up in the attic (please note that you get there by taking some steep stairs, 3 floors up. Not sure if there's an elevator, but I don't think so). The vibe on the first floor was great and really got you into the right mood. For the second part, you'll have a tour guide that will have a small tour around the attic. It was cool, but occasionally a bit hard to fully grasp what the guide wanted to communicate. I'd like to point out, like many others, that the museum was very small. A lot smaller than what I expected, despite reading some reviews beforehand. Additionally, the museum it's quite text heavy, hence, be expected to read quite a lot during your visit (the info was available in both Czech and English).

If you are interested in the history of alchemy, you have to visit this one! While the ground floor isn't super impressive, it'll delight any fan of the legend of Dr. Faustus, with a dark re-build of his house filled with information on different alchemists. Where it gets really good is the upstairs rooms! First, you walk up the oldest wooden staircase in Prague, it's well used and feels a bit rickety in places, but it's an experience! At the top waits a guide who will give you a personal little tour of the study and laboratory, happy to answer any questions you might have, and giving a fantastic overview of alchemical history. I loved the tour and the upstairs laboratory stuffed full of exhibits. What a brilliant little museum!

U pokladen byla příjemná mladá slečna. Ovšem překvapilo přístup. Rychle povidala aby nás vpustila rychle do věže.

This museum is such an interesting snippet into an unusual part of Prague history. The first part was small, and not very interactive, so probably better for adults or older children. However, the second part of the tour was guided and much more interesting. The guide was full of enthusiasm and made the tour so much better! We then went to the pub, conveniently located in the courtyard. They had some absolutely amazing cocktails on offer, as well as other drinks and food you would expect. I had the Dragons Breath cocktail, and the friendly staff gave a lovely show with this!! Even if you don’t end up looking around the museum, I’d highly recommend going just for the cocktail experience!

I found this place very interesting and fun to visit. It is made of 2 parts: the lower level where you can buy the tickets and read a lot about alchemy, and the tower where you can go through a guided tour with a very nice and fun guide and see some really nice exhibitions. The whole tour was maybe around 15 minutes, but you can stay after and take pictures or dig further. I guess you could find other places with more emphasis on the alchemical procedures and whatnot, but it doesn't make this place any less interesting. Staff were very friendly and enthusiastic. There is also an alchemy pub next to it, but i didn't check it out.

Really interesting and fun place to visit, especially taking into account that it's quite near to the Prague Castle. The service team speak English well and the guide who works there made our visit really fun and full of interesting stories and facts about Czech alchemy. Also, the price is quite lower than in the most Prague museums what is also a pretty good bonus. Moreover, there's a little bar/cafe inside, where you can buy fun drinks inside alchemist flasks and all museum attendants get the 10% discount. So, it's just a worthy place to take a look if you're nearby and I had a good time there.

Personál milý a ochotný. Doporučuji zkusit voucher na Slevomatu, který zahrnuje například vstup i pití.

This was a nice surprise. But there's a caveat - you must get the guided tour to enjoy it. Without it, the museum is basically a big, goofy (though good-looking, obviously effort went into it!) diorama, with sparse text and without unique historical items. The guide, however, is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, putting the wacky props in historical context to explain who the archetypal Alchemist™️ was, how and when they thrived, and to paint a picture of the sort of people who believed in them and why. This sort of information and interaction is what I like best when learning history, so I left happy.

An amazing museum. Easy to pass by, but a must see. From going up the oldest stairs in Prague, to looking around the place and hearing the very captivating and peculiar story of the Alchemist, this place will transport you back into a time of magic. The palace is made carefully and with attention to detail, which makes it so interesting. I am a huge fan of everything mysterious and "magical", so to step into an alchemical laboratory is a dream come true. Highly recommend visiting the place, the guide takes time to explain everything and to give you a glimpse into the very strange life of Edward Kelly.

  • Leah Knobbe

This definitely for adults and older kids. Most of it is reading and listening. There are a few things to interact with but not enough to keep a child entertained. I enjoyed it, but I read for fun. I’m giving it three stars because our tour guide began to talk about how he didn’t like trans people. That was pretty weird. No one even mention trans people. He just started talking about it. Overall I had fun and the bar next to it was great! I would definitely visit again!

Super cheesy. There’s some history to read on the ground floor that you could find on the Internet instead. After climbing some challenging stairs, you reach a reconstructed tower laboratory section. The guide’s explanations are often historically dubious and geared more toward entertainment; if you’re actually interested in the history, you will likely find this frustrating and annoying. If you only have time for one of these, prioritize the Speculum Alchemie instead.

Amazing little museum giving you a glimpse into the less known art of alchemy in Czechia. The tour guide was the best I've seen - sharing much knowledge and insight into the history of alchemy. First part of the museum is small and you have to read a lot. Some interactive games also. Second part is guided in the laboratory of Kelly. A must see if you want to see something different than just castles and churches!

First we wanted to give it 5 stars because we were very excited and it had a very cute alchemy-themed cafe in a quiet patio. However, our guide was quite rude and his English was not understandable. The exhibition was actually very well designed with provided texts but the guide rushed us through it and didn’t allow us to stay and read. This sadly caused us to learn nothing from the museum.

The place is good. There is a lot of history with is really nice. The staff working there have a big knowledge. Although if you want to buy some eliksirs, you need to prepare your self and your wallet. The price isn’t disproportionate to the ingredients used, there is like 30 stuff inside but it’s expensive. We went there mostly for eliksir of love but we didn’t purchase it.

Unusual peek into the past. You do not have to believe in the esoteric to enjoy this small but interesting tour inside Rudolf's laboratory. Uncovered only 20 years ago, the underground rooms have been refurbished but give a convincing taste of what they were like... The tour-guide had many anecdotes and though it is fairly small, it should appeal to even small children.

The museum was an interesting part of the trip that gave us a ton of background into the tidal effect alchemists had on early science in Europe and throughout the world - the coolest part was their bar, that featured drinks in science beakers with dry-ice that mimicked a chemical reaction - not only were they delicious, they looked cool as heck! Would definitely recommend the bar after the museum!

  • Tony Ramsey

A must visit if you have an hour to spare, they have put a lot of thoughtful work into this to make it a great experience. There is history and mystery mixed into the tour and it’s just right. Be sure to stop by the additional bar to get a fun alchemy drink, they have non-alcoholic options and the staff are fun and genuine.

I wasn't quite amused by the first part (floor) of the museum. There were some interesting legends to read. But this floor is more for taking photos which you can then show to your friends. But the attic floor is different. Here you have a guide with you. He was a good storyteller and this made the experience better. The setup is also very authentic.

A fun little diversion if you don't take it too seriously! It's quite small and doesn't take too long so you can be in and out in 20 minutes. The price of admission is a bit high for what it is, but you get a 10% discount in the really cool alchemical pub (which is already very cheap). The lady who guided us was lovely too!

  • Jenda Dolezal

Muzeum je super, ale restaurace je totální průšvih. Na obsluhu jsme čekali hodinu a na jídlo další. WC bylo velmi zanedbané a špinavé, pisoár nefunkči. Velká škoda, původního skvělého dojmu.

Great tour of the museum, chronicling the story of Edward Kelly, who resided here as al alchemist in the 16th century. Recommend imbibing a concoction from their cocktail list at the bar, too.
