Like most National Trust properties, this one is interesting in it's own right. It is a lovely property. Fire places are really quaint and the staff helpful and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed my visit. You need to book though. You can explore the gardens at your leisure but the guides take you round the house by appointment. More
Rather quaint NT property organised on a simple scale but with the facilities of a larger site. Straightforward orientation room with a good chronological history of the house and occupants. Some stunning work in the main stairwell, both structurally and artistically. Pleasant garden with courtyard café.
We had a guided tour. Strongly recommend the visit if you want to have someone friendly and approachable that is willing to engage your questions on William Morris, his life, those that lived within his inner arts and crafts circle, and the history of this beautiful house.
Fantastic place to spend the afternoon. We had a tour around the house itself and then were left to our own devices to explore the amazing gardens. Plenty of space to have a picnic and with garden games on hand there's plenty to keep you entertained outdoors and in.
Very lovely and magic place for those we love arts and design. You will be inmersed in William Morris life and the Arts and crafts history. A great value you can't avoid if you're into arts. The ladies that guide you through the house are very warm and welcoming.
Utterly excellent. If you love William Morris and the arts and crafts revival you'll be in heaven. The property is immaculately kept as are the gardens. Tickets are cheap and the guides are top notch, with a huge wealth of information at your beckon call. More
The National Trust- Red House was a truly wonderful experience. You can only visit by guided tour which must be booked in advance but it is worth it. Our tour guide was interesting, funny and very informative. #redhouse #williammorris #nationaltrust
Marvellous house for William Morris, arts and crafts, and garden lovers! Parking can be a bit dodgy as you have to find somewhere in the surrounding residential area. However, it is all worth it when you get there. Guided house tour is a must, too.
Beautiful house where William Morris lived. The tour guide was very informative, and even as a William Morris fan, I learnt so much more. Sadly, the house was having repairs done, and scaffolding was still up, so I am planning another visit
Really enjoyable visit. A lovely house which looks slightly out of place now in a south east London suburb. When the house was built it was all fields. A very knowledgable guide explained the Morris family history, how and why the house was
Arrived here for a guided tour with our Arts Society. The guided tour was well worth arranging. There are very few artefacts so you need someone to explain the history and use of the building. The original setting, surrounded by countryside
This is a beautiful National Trust property. The house is only open to the public from 1.30pm, you can only view the house in the morning by booking onto a tour, this can be done online prior to tour visit or at the Red House. I went in the
Well worth a visit. The house of William Morris designed by Phillip Webb give a great insight into the founding of the interior design company and the arts and craft movement. Small cafe but very pleasant and service was great despite being
A bit disappointing especially given the pricey entrance ticket, as there were only a few rooms open and they are still restoring the outside and inside. There weren't very many pieces of original artwork either just one or two interesting
Beautiful place in the middle of suburbia, staff were friendly and helpful, enjoyed learning about the history of William Morris and the Morris & Co company. Helped it was a beautiful day so I could enjoy the garden and tea outside. Would
I'm a fan of William Morris interior design wallpapers so couldn't wait to go to the Red House, booked a tour, personally I like to digest at my own pace, however, this was the best decision I could have made. The guide was enthusiastic,
Tucked away from the far-beaten track in Bexleyheath. It can be quite a trip to get there without a car but is worth the journey. The beautiful gardens and the stunning house are the first sights you can see. Exploring the outside before
This was my first visit here and I absolutely loved every minute! The house is beautiful throughout and a female guide welcomed our small group and shared her love and knowledge of William Morris. Today I learnt a little piece of history
Very interesting tour, including details of William Morris's earlier life. Many gothic style details and remnants of the time ( late 19th century). However, I booked online and it was not made clear that there was a charge of £8 for the
I found this place fantastic and inspiring. Worth checking out for learning more about the early days of pre-Raphaelites (W Morris, E-B Jones, D Rossetti and their muses). It proved to be a creative incubator set in this medieval style
Beautiful building with a lovely garden. Definitely recommend booking on one of their tours though (only guided tours.in the morning, free flow from 1.30pm). Facilities.include toilets, a quaint little tea room, a visitors centre with
Really interesting. We did the tour inside the house, which is the only way yo visit the house in the morning, and then after 1.30 we went back in on our own to enjoy every detail a little bit longer. Defitinitely, an inspiring visit.
Oh wow, I love William Morris! This was my first trip to see this iconic place and I loved it. The guide was very informative and made everything so alive. It was a lovely sunny day and time spent in the garden was a delight too. More
Delightful house and garden hidden in the suburbs. Easy to find, which was helpful as we came a long way. Extremely informative and mildly amusing guide. Wish we'd bought a picnic! Caught a glimpse of a fox in the garden too.
Visited with my sister, who is a fan of the work of William Morris. The Red House was home for him and his family for a few years. We had a guided tour, about 45 minutes, which was interesting and informative.
Beautiful, peaceful and rustic garden. A lot of variety of flowers and fruit trees. Can probably see everything in less than an hour.
Fantastic tour guide to explain the history of the Red House. The garden and the arichiture are unique to know more about PRB. More
