It may look like your average casual restaurant in an obscure part of a strip of shops where foot traffic isn't ever at a high, but it's definitely worth stopping in at Nepal Dining Room for a really delicious meal. Admittedly, this was my first time trying Nepalese food, but I love Indian and I know they're a little similar, so thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did, because the food was fantastic. The restaurant itself is nicely decked out. It's got a slight modern warehouse type feel to it, but there's ample room (but with small tables), and beautiful smells coming from the kitchen. I ordered the Pan Fried Sekuwa, which are pieces of chicken thigh fillets marinated with mustard leaves, yoghurt, garlic, ginger and cumin. It was so delicious and came with a mini refreshing salad of cucumber and onion and tomato etc. A really good start to the meal. Following that, I ordered the Chicken Curry for my main (which came with butternut pumpkin) and plain rice. It was beautiful and fresh and while the chicken wasn't as tender as the entree, it was still packed with flavour and texture. The service was good. Food came out all together and correctly and within a reasonable time frame, and the prices are worth it for what you get. Street parking is plenty along that side and portion of Waverly Road and I really look forward to trying it again another time.

Food and ambiance is good.... We went for dinner today. But we got the biggest disappointment while settling the bill. Redenergy rewards members has 20% discount on bill which is mentioned on redenergy website as well. First we asked if the staffs are aware of it.. they were not and didn't even bother to know further about it.. so we browsed redenergy site and showed it to them.... And still they don't wanted to understand what we are trying to say... Then we asked them to call their manager or whoever to verify it... One of the lady went in with membership card, came out and gave me $20 which was not even 20% of the bill.... I again asked if she found out about the discount offer and her answer completely pissed me off... She said "we don't know about it, as you asked, we are giving it to you", as if we are behind $20... WE DON'T WANT YOUR $20, WE WANT YOU TO FIX YOUR PROBLEM.... if red energy offer is not applicable to your restaurant, ask red energy to remove it, don't confuse your customers...and don't think that every customer is there for compensation...

We visited this place on last friday evening, drove all the way from dandenong, the place is beautiful and cosy very welcoming. The wait staff were very attentive and hospitable, the service was 5star for me. Menu was descent and had good option. Food price was also okey not on the cheaper side but its okey. However food was very simple and suttle, not crazy in terms of taste, basic and simple, i didnt find the wow and kick when u take a bite, i ordered momo, plater for two, fried fish but non of those give me a instant wow, for non nepalese they might feel okey but for nepalese at least i would expect explosion of flavours, but it was missing, i would recommend if you play little more with seasoning and spice it would be perfect, it didnt satisfied me as driving 30min and food is just okey.

What an absolutely delightful find! I cannot remember when I last enjoyed a meal out as much. Good atmosphere, very affordable. Great range of dishes, and ALL of the ones which we chose were excellent - extremely tasty, with an amazing blend of spices. Easy to find, easy parking, fantastic customer service. Highly recommended.

Went there with a couple of my non Nepali friends and had a lovely time today. The waitress was very attentive and kind. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely too. The food here is great but being a Nepali I feel that some dishes were missing the authentic and traditional flavours. Although I feel that the momos could’ve been more flavourful, I thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. Would recommend trying Chicken Sekuwa and Goat curry, they were the highlight of my evening. Thank you team for your hospitality today.

walked past this place a few times and it seems they've always got a good dinner crowd. the staff are very friendly, and although it took a bit of a wait for the food (you can always get more appetisers) it was extremely worth it. highly recommend the cauliflower, goat curry and prawns. we also got the chamre rice n momos and it complemented the dishes perfectly. ask for mixed momos to sample all three types!

One of the worst Nepalese food I have ever had, their momos were very bad no taste n I felt it store bought not made in the house. Hospitality was also not good, the guy who came to made us sit on one of the tables looked extremely sad no greet no smile. I would never recommend anyone to go here, it's full of disappointment from Hospitality to food. And prices are too high compared to the quality of the food they provide.

Lovely Nepalese restaurant. Quite an exhaustive menu and lively atmosphere. The food was good - momos, chicken chow chow, goat tarkari, roti, raisin pulao, grilled lamb and grilled chicken. The momos were seasoned well and the sauce with it was spicy! The goat tarkari was cooked well but lacked enough salt. The grilled items were average and the pulao was good. Overall a good experience.

We love Nepal Dining! Sunita is a wonderful waitress. My Nepali husband really enjoys the food too. Our favourite dishes are the goat curry, momo and chicken and pumpkin curry. The atmosphere is lovely, we keep going back!

This would be one of the best experiences I've had. Food was fabulous, service excellent and atmosphere lovely. We started off with a tasting platter and my, oh my, what a delight. The four of us each ordered a different main course and we shared. Every dish wonderful. We will be back. Highly recommend.

Second time at Nepal. It still serve fantastic food. We had Tapas Platter, Goat Tarkari, Tofu Chow Chow, Pork Belly Tarkari and Pulaw Rice. Totally delicious. The young lady who served us was attentive and very well mannered. The man who I think is the manager was talking and greeting other customers but not us. I guess we not regular. But who cares. Keep up the good work.

Was excited to visit this place considering it had good reviews. But a little disappointed. Momos are not Nepalese at all. Very bland and less vegetable filling inside the momo. Chilly momos were not chilli at all. Overall not a good experience. The ambience is nice though. But thats not enough to come back.

I found the food to be delicious, fresh and healthy. Really tasty flavours that differed from each other. The restaurant was comfortable, with tables large enough to accommodate multiple dishes. I found the service to be non-pretentious, efficient and friendly. We will be back for sure. Fave was the goat curry.

Visited this place a few times & still get the same result. Walking out like I just got pregnant. Get home. #Foodcoma. Just a reminder for everyone. If the food is bland. Ask for salt & pepper. There is nothing wrong with that. Treat their service right.. What goes around; comes around.

Social evening out with friends. Seafood Tarkari (curry) was packed with flavour - there is very little heat in mild, and generous with fresh tasting seafood. Went well with rice. Choc brownie with green tea ice cream rounded out a great meal! Authentic Nepalese food in a friendly atmosphere.

  • Craig Douglas

Different but delicious. You must start with the Tapas Platter. And the chili chicken is divine.

A gem of a find in Malvern! Meeting up with a couple of friends who live near by, the Nepal Dining Room offers a great menu and helpful staff. The food is top notch and fills its namesake's brief. Book early to avoid missing out on Friday and Saturday nights!

The food was great! And Sunita handled the waitressing by herself in a half-full restaurant - with such a lovely smile.

Such a money grab . Food is at lowest . I was embarrassed to call it Nepali restaurant. Went for dinner with my Indian mates and all that time on the table I was only blaming myself for taking them over . Everyone should avoid this place ,

Don't come here and don't get fooled by the reviews. This place is terrible, the veggies in the noodles were not cooked at all. When we raised the issue, the owner was rude and told us they are stir fried and that's how it's prepared. Save

We didn’t have a booking and the restaurant is very popular on a Friday night , but fortunately we managed to get a table. It’s popularity is well based.

We only tried their starters and Momo's, their fish wasn't good, but everything else was yum. Their chilli Momo is to die for. Great service from staff.
