I had my first baby in October 2017 at Parklands Hospital. I found the facility to be adequate. However the nursing care did not meet my expectations. My husband and I are health care providers and are well aware of nursing standards. Unfortunately post delivery I had to wait 1 hour to be fetched from recovery despite 5 calls made to the ward staff to collect me. During this time my baby continuously cried as he was hungry. I was basically forgotten about in recovery. Most distressing is their implementation of baby friendly policies. From the moment I entered the ward the baby remained by my side and was exposed to every person that visited. The open visting hours from 10am till 8pm is not appropriate for a maternity ward and for new borns. There was no nursery for baby to be taken to at least during visiting hours to ensure his safety. My husband had to assist me throughout the day and into the night with regards to feeding etc. As much as I am in favour of kangaroo mother care and early bonding between mother and child, there needs to be a certain degree of care provided initially to mother and child. As a result I remained in hospital for only 1 day. I am grateful thou that my baby was healthy which was most important at the time. I hope that the institution will review their policies to ensure better experiences for future mothers and babies.

I am not very happy with the service that we received. Two days ago I bought my two year old daughter ,who had been burnt to the emergency section outside. They are incredibly uncommunicative and lack compassion, yesterday with our follow-up appointment we waited two hours for them to redress her injury waiting for the dressing to be sent from the pharmacy that is 2 minutes away inside the hospital, With no ongoing communication as to why we were waiting 2 hours and of course with a two year year-old who been hurt it was incredibly inconvenience waiting that amount of time. The doctor on duty was not very good with my baby girl, she was in a state and he did nothing to calm her. I recommend that the staff learn to communicate with clients, especially when mothers have small children and are waiting 2 hours to be helped. It really felt like government hospital treatment, that we paid a lot of money for privately. It just comes across like people do not know what the hell they are doing, when I asked one of the nurses what is taking so long we got a dirty look and was told they will help us just now. 2 hours later we got help. I don't expect this kind of treatment at a private hospital.

My mum was admitted to Netcare Parklands hospital as she needed some treatment to be done as she is an oncology patient and she was struggling to keep food or liquids down. We tried everything at home but we had no success. After reassurance from her doctor we reluctantly admitted her to Parklands. The service levels are so poor and there is no care for the wellbeing of their patients. We admitted her on a Friday and after much difficulty I managed to see her on Saturday. She was smelling so badly because no one washed or cleaned her after she had thrown up. She wasnt even fed anything since Friday till I saw her on Saturday at 11am.Her chronic medication was not administered to her even though everything was packed for her. They left her in a diaper even though she was able to use the bathroom with assistance. The diaper was absolutely traumatic for her and had left a rash due to not changing her often enough. We pay such high premiums for a medical aid so that we may have cover and service. Parklands is not a step up from government hospitals with there lack of care. We are only offered platitudes and are still stuck with high hospital bills for services that were not provided.

My daughter has ulcerative colitis and has to have IV INFUSION for Revellex every 6 weeks. She has already done 3 loading doses over the months and today we start the maintenance dose. We always had a problem with the meds reaching the ward late it is as though they are transporting it from another province which ironically the pharmacy is right next to medical ward. Today was a bit upsetting as we booked into the hospital only to be told that they are 2 vials short of the Revellex meds. These meds are pre ordered by Jansen Pharmaceutical and supposed to be ready for the patient upon admission. I spoke to pharmacy and was told that they are sourcing the stock from ST AUGUSTINE hospital. This is totally unacceptable as we get off early from work to sit and wait because of hospital pharmacy incompetence. I hope to get some feedback from Parklands Hospital and trust that this will not happen in the future. Thanks Valerie

I underwent two different procedures in Parklands Theatres. Twice, while I was completely naked and exposed - a theater staff (MALE) walked right in and said "Sorry, wrong theatre". I was already anxious and scared. On top of that a strange man walked in on me and made it seem like a joke. TWICE. Highly disgusting and inappropriate behavior. Not to mention, a complete disregard for patients CONFIDENTIALITY. It is also extremely unhygienic. When the bread and butter of any medical profession is confidentiality, it is utterly pathetic how I was treated in this theatre. No one took action against these men who casually disregarded my rights as a human being and a sick patient. Please be aware fellow citizens. It would be a shame for anyone else to also experience this vile type of exposure on top of being extremely ill enough to require a procedure.

I have never in my life seen so many frustrated patients at a hospital, absolutely no sympathy or empathy from day shift staff and the patients tend to take out their frustration on the night shift staff due to the entire days build up of frustration, absolutely disappointing. Night shift sister in charge Tamia Soobramoney had to run around attending to highly frustrated patients who were upset from way before Sister Tamia Soobramoney came on duty further to that this is my second day at this hospital and I had a cold water shower, for there medical aid rates and this being a private hospital this is disgraceful. Today I will be asking my doctor for a discharge or transfer to mount edgecome life because I cannot handle such incompetence and stay at a hospital that cannot even provide patients with hot water to shower.

I wouldn't give this hospital a 1/4 star! I was admitted to Surgical Ward 2 on the 2nd Floor on Saturday (20/05/23) and stayed until Tuesday (23/05/23), when I begged to be discharged, before I lost my sanity! The service is shocking! They gave me the wrong food, which caused my condition to worsen! The nurses do not follow the doctor's instructions! The night staff wake patients up at 4am to change bedding and take bloods and make a noise throughout the night in the corridors and leave the bedside assist beepers to go off for long, before coming to assist! An overall awful experience!! Netcare Hospitals need to get some training from the Life Hospital Network... that's what the standards of a private hospital should be!

I was admitted on 28 January in the maternity department as I was bleeding. Nursing staff treated me fine and were there every time I called. I was just disappointed at the cleanliness. The bathroom we were using were extremely dirty. On Saturday at 12pm when I checked the last time it was cleaned, it was at 10H00am on the previous day, which means it was not cleaned on Friday night and Saturday morning. The bathroom/toilet state was just horrifying, especially being in a ward where people were vulnerable for bacterias etc. Please fix that. Big ups to Dr Edwin, the doctor who was on call who attended me, I was really impressed with his professionalism and how he attended me.

My dad was admitted to Parklands hospital on the 17th of August due to covid. He was then transferred to the icu and back to the medical ward as he was recovering we'll. He then picked up another infection and was sent back to the icu and passed away on the 18th of September, the staff says by the time they could get to him it was to late, were where the staff at 12:30 in the morning, asleep? While my dad's blood pressure dropped and he was unattended to late. My dad lost his life at this hospital due to negligence. His cell phone was also stolen. I still want answers. We where told my dad was doing well and will be moved of the cpap soon those where words of his Dr Nadar.

This place has gone downhill since they tried their best to kill my father some 25 years ago. Took my 76 yo very ill, almost unconscious friend. Reception took over an hour to "find a bed". Bed was found but no bedding. Lay him down and asked for a . 1/2 an hour...no pillow but they managed to find a rolled up towel. They proudly advertise there touch screen system..... I kid you not, 4 nurses could not get it to work over 20 minutes. It seems almost impossible to contact your loved one telephonically. Forget leaving a message. This place needs to be investigated. I thought medcare kingsway was bad, but this is worse.

  • Keith Brodie

One day visit to the oncology ward yesterday. Was massively impressed by the service. Greeted by everyone I came into contact with and was treated with great respect and professionalism. Whilst the hospital was quiet this does not detract from the staff being readily available and providing care far beyond my expectations. Well done to all. Just one issue which failed dismally was the dispensary. Literally took hours to dispense basic pain killers. Eventually I left without receiving my medication as I could no longer accept this inordinate delay. So parklands, we’ll dine. Parklands dispensary, you failed dismally

  • Dersan P (Deszn)

Lukewarm experience. The standards are spiraling from when we had our kids here. Staff : Need to attend to patients when called or communicate with kindness and understanding why they should wait Are excessively noisy at night when recuperating patients are trying to sleep Need to learn how to be kind to patients who may be anxious or obviously there for some ailment Food : Bland Taste and seems to be going bad at times. Wonder if food is left over days to save costs? Parklands use to serve the best meals years ago. This Hospital needs to seriously review itself if it wants to re-establish itself.

  • Shaina Sunker

This is the worst hospital iv ever been to. I had my baby here. The maternity ward had no order and they left me with my baby for so long without checking up on me after I just had a c section. Their systems were not working. They gave me off food twice. This hospital should not even exist as a private hospital. There are alot of other things they did but this review would be to long. I urge anyone wanting to use this hospital to reconsider. It is gone to the dogs. Worst part is they don't even care how you feel as a patient. And you pay so much money to get treated like that.

  • Shiksha Ramgovind

My family took me to the Parklands emergency rooms while I was having a heart attack. The doctor who treated me was grossly incompetent as she could not read the ECG report. She discharged me 2 or 3 hours after arriving with a diagnosis of panic attack and ulcers. I took the very same ECG run at Parklands to a cardiologist at Entabeni hospital and he said there is nothing normal about this ECG. He ran another ECG and admitted me into hospital immediately. An angiogram was done the next day, it was confirmed that I had a heart attack. Misdiagnosis by Parklands Hospital.

Called the finance billing department. An unprofessional man answered, when I asked whom I was speaking to, he abruptly replied "who do you want to speak to'. I was always thought it is good to ask a person's name before you engage in dialogue, it shows respect for another human. Calvin I believe his name is, needs to understand he should have answered giving his name, billing and finance is a customer service based department, and that is NOT SERVICE. We merely wanted the exact name of the account holder to make out a cheque. Disgraceful I tell you.

  • Rajiv Rampal

My mom was recently discharged from here , while some of the staff is friendly and considerate - their patient management and covid protocols are shockingly pathetic. There was no covid test required for admission , nor any screening for the patients or visitors. There was no process to identify patients once admitted, on numerous occasions my mom was mistaken for another patient . Lastly upon discharge, we were given another patients medication and incorrect script . Be very careful if you need treatment here , as you have to think for them.

Big up to the Maternity ward team at Parklands, I gave birth in December 2022 I had a great stay in maternity ward all nurses and doctors were so passionate of what they do, the level of respect and love I received from the team was incredible, from the time I was admitted, to theatre time all C section team thank u, thanks to my Gynae Rochelle Vatharajh and thanks to the other doc Ms Vatharajh as well. My baby was delivered perfectly Thanks to the whole team including the pediatrician. Best Hospital

  • Mahesh Kumar

Terrible stuff nurses, Im not sure, whether they are qualified. They are struggling to put suppository, for my 1 year old daughter I did the same thing easily at home even though im not a paramedical person. They struggled to open the suppository wrapper , they took 5 minutes to open and she was opened the suppository gel on their mouth, Never recommended to go again there.

  • Khulekani Christian Mjwara

Friendly nurses and great service across the board. The beds were comfortable and the showers were working wonderfully. The food was exceptional. The nurses don't only take care of you here but they also go the extra mile to make you are okay. They go as far as accompanying you to theatre to ensure that you are comfortable going into surgery.

  • Desma Mbonambi

Had my first baby on the 24th of May, Big shout out to the maturity ward team, Doris Mdima,Linda who were nightshift, morning shift is Phakamile,Ayanda Xaba, Mrs Kaidi they all make sure you are okay at all time with your baby..I’ve never seen such professionalism..Made my stay so warm..Thank you so much to them …

  • Debbie Landers

I have visited a friend lots recently. The staff in gen ward are friendly, caring & very empathetic. I do however wish management can supply at least 1 or 2 recliner chairs for pts. Especially since gen ward takes oncology overflow. Should they not have the same furniture for pts comfort??

  • Bianca Naude

My 3 year old was admitted last week and the nurses were all very nice and took good care of her. You do like with any hospital need to remind nurses of your child's needs and follow up on certain things. But it was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend the Parklands Paed Ward.

  • PRAVASHNIE HIRALAL

The doctor's service is excellent I can't say the same for the nurses they are loud even at night. They take hours to give you meds not forgetting the way they bad mouth the patients.....the cleaning stuff is more help than the nurses. It's really sad to see behavior like that.

  • Natasha Paliyathan

I was admitted in surgical ward 2 and I must say my stay was super comfortable.. Every nurse that assisted me were so compassionate and caring and went way out of their way to make me comfortable and at ease for my procedure.. the hospital is clean and neat. Food was amazing

  • Gavin Keet

Wow. I mean WOW. From Dr Amaidas and his theatre team to all the staff in Surgical ward 2, thank you. A complete professionally run unit. I definitely would recommend Parklands Hospital to anyone whom needs professional medical assistance. THANK YOU again Gavin Keet

  • Ayesha Muniff

Terrible service. How do these pharmacists obtain their degrees if they don't know what the medication they're dispensing treats. YET, quick to brag that they're the ONLY pharmacist who prescribes the particular medication we needed. Shoddy and unprofessional.

  • Athie Jaca

Great service from ICU staff especially sister Zwane, you don't get Nurses like her anymore she's one of a kind. As for reception i have no words to describe their incompetence, how hard is it to transfer a call to billing department? It's pathetic really

  • Sonya Paima

Waited for emergency admission for over 1 hour. Only one person at reception and at admission. Unfortunately the specialist only consults with patients at this hospital . Won't come here in a hurry. They need more people to assist. Very disappointing.

  • Nivash Singh

My dad stayed there for a few weeks and was dead thereafter. He was under the care of Dr Randaree, Dr Nadar and Dr Munasur. 4 weeks after these doctors operated on him he passed away. No substantial rationale was provided. The oncologist
