Stayed there Saturday night after seeing my granddaughter on her first birthday before returning to warmer climes. Had stayed there a few years before on a previous visit to Sydney, it had been crude but the owners were nice and tried bloody hard to make us welcome and comfortable. This time we found it had been taken over by the nightcap group. At first glance it was ok but it soon turned terrible. The room had no heating, the new paint on the roof was peeling, the gaps in the fireplace had been “sealed’ with exposed pu foam. We froze all night even with the non functioning reverse cycle aircon on 27. Then we got up to find no cooked breakfast and what were we supposed to do with the one sachet of cornflakes and a single serve of milk and OJ ?? Pour a little into each of the two cups I suppose! Save your money and buy a cardboard box and sleep under a bridge. It will be warmer and you will get a better breakfast from licking a wall! Bloody rip off!!

If you looked out the jammed open window on the first floor you can see it has just been a cosmetic makeover. Putting lipstick on a pig does not hide the fact its still a pig!

We chanced upon the Night Cap at Pymble Hotel on our way through the outskirts of Sydney & we're so glad we stopped! We were very pleasantly surprised by its interior, the comfort & the food! The hotel has been renovated only a year ago and it has been very tastefully decorated with really lovely, clean & modern rooms. Wonderful bathrooms, great shower & comfortable beds. The small 'Carman's' complimentary breakfast packs are a clever idea & were much appreciated. We stayed overnight as a family of 4 & booked 2 rooms which was very reasonably priced. There was a lovely selection of meals in the bar downstairs and we all enjoyed our meals, even with dietary restrictions. The staff were all very friendly & helpful. I would recommend to the hotel to double glaze the windows in the bedrooms to reduce the street noise, otherwise it is a lovely hotel & a great little stop over.

Ignore the previous reviews, the Pymble Hotel has undergone a huge makeover in recent months and the results are very promising. Rooms have been totally renovated with a bright, fresh look, modern bathrooms nice beds and decent WiFi. The rooms are small, but there's still room to move around and hang up your clothes. Given the location jammed between the highway and the railway and on top of the pub, we'd expected a lot more noise. There was some, mostly from the bar, but not enough to stop us sleeping. There's free parking right outside the door, and a bar and restaurant in the building if you need. Given the absolute paucity of accommodation in this area, this is a badly needed option, and at this price, including WiFi and breakfast, it's a very good deal right now.

Just came in to the Pymble Hotel. Walked in and staff couldn’t have cared less if I was there or not. It also just so happened to be happy hour at the time that I walk in and ordered a jug of beer. The bartender (Tim) didn’t bother telling me it was happy hour and I paid close to $17 for a jug of beer. I went up for the next round 2 minutes before happy hour ended and asked the manager what was included in the local beers happy hour and he told me what was included. He then told me I had to be quick and then said it was too late as I missed out in the space of 15 seconds. For a pub group the size of ALH I expected a LOT more from them. Very disappointed in the staff and service as each and every situation they could have been polite and nice (as you should in hospitality) they failed to do so. Will not be returning.

  • Cheryl McKee

Very disappointed in the menu yesterday group of friends for lunch of which one required gluten free meal there were only 2 available on the menu sweet potato wedges or calamari and salad. When the calamari arrived it had been coated with flour and fried even after asking the staff if it was GF. Chef was unable to offer anything else so had to settle for Barramundi instead To top it off their coffee was bitter and they no longer offer Tea. Can definitely say we won't be going back. The Chef and management really need to rethink menu if they are going to advertise GF meals and are unable to deliver

What a great idea. taking over the accommodation part of pubs and DOING IT RIGHT. I've been going to the Pymble Pub for many years as a local, but moved away some years ago. Coming back to visit friends, I was told about Nightcap, and decided to give it a go. Excellent experience. Clean room, comfy bed, hot shower. Sure, it's small, but who cares it's got everything you need. Attention to detail like keeping the external windows of this historic building in place and double-glazing internally is very smart. Even provided ear-plugs if traffic noise is an issue which it was not. Love it

We had a front room right on the Pacific Highway and despite the double glazing it was definitely the most noisy hotel room we have stayed in. Funnily enough we both had a very good night sleep in the comfortable bed. The free drink and 10 percent off the bistro and the breakfast pack made our stay great value. So do ask for a room not fronting the highway and you should have a good stay in this old but nicely refurbished old pub.

Stayed here with my family for a night. You had to check in at the bar (which didn’t go well), then there was no elevators, and when we got to the room, my god how bad it was. Smelly, old beds, paper thin walls (you could CLEARLY hear cars passing by on highway), the bunk bed had screws missing and was creaking a lot, lights weren’t working properly, shared bathrooms that were just disgusting. Only stay if you have nowhere else to stay. I wouldn’t even give this place a 1 star.

Modern hotel rooms. Great pub, but the choices for food are quite limited. Not much to choose from if you don't like schnitzel or steak. Smart TV in the room was a life saver

We have been coming for years so not sure what is happening. Went for lunch at opening time last Saturday was told that they did not have Caesar Salad available as they had a busy night befo. Went back again for lunch today and I ordered the same and I was in luck it was available, however hardly any chicken and very dry. My husband ordered as usual the chicken Snitzel with mushroom sauce and the sauce was beautiful as always however the snitzel was 5 mm thick!!! Are you cutting cost ??

  • Jenny O'Brien

It was good I had 2 glasses of Audrey wilkinson rose and sat quietly by my self and watched the sun go down. It was relaxing and enjoyable. The staff were young and very nice. A few more rose choices would of been great and may be some sparkling rose. But now I'm being picky. Staff were practising covid rules and it was nice to see them doing so. As a health worker I don't understand why more people are not wearing gloves to work in espically in hospitality areas. Just a thought.

  • Christy Brazil

There was one lovely staff member, but that was about it. The food was ordinary and the room was cold. I asked for an extra blanket and it seemed like an effort or there was literally no extra linen/bedding? Woke up to discover the lights weren't working, although I acknowledge the wild weather in Sydney. The fire was nice and I loved the look of the big old pub. Being a foodie though, I won't be back.

Great prices, rooms comfortable and clean. Probably one of the best mattresses out there. Later check ins and out of hours key dropbox. Food and drinks can be ordered to the room using a QR code. if you are looking for comfy yet affordable hotel. This pymble hotel should be your options. It has sharing kitchen where you can use sharing microwave, refrigerator, iron and even laundry machines. It is a little bit old but it is still great. It is clean and also prepare fan and room heater for you. It also prepares a bar for you if you want to drink or just have your lunch and dinner (no breakfast thou) it is also only less than 5 min walk to pymble train station

  • Bee Gin Sim

we went in for dinner and really this is a very subpar bar food. i had the fish barramundi and it was dry and steam veg was not seasoned. my husband had the t bone steak and it was overcooked although he ask for medium rare. their service was really friendly though so that's why I gave them a 3 star rating. i got lost trying to get to the bar area and she personally showed me to the pub dining area. the wait staff that took our order was friendly too.

We booked 4 rooms at Nightcap at Pymble as it was close to family and the location for a family celebration. We didn't eat a lot here but we were all happy with the food we did have and found all of the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. Even though it is on the highway we couldn't hear the traffic. We all agreed that we would stay here again.

Based on my experience I would highly recommend the Pymble Hotel. The staff are amazing, friendly, accommodating and very focused on delivering a good experience. It is good, down to earth accomodation at a very reasonable price. The pub serves decent food and is comfortable and relaxing. Went here for dinner for a mates birthday - the place was dark, furniture really run down and the food was a little sad, I ordered the barramundi and while the fish was nice, that's literally the only thing on this massive plate, plus 3 tiny asparagus sticks and 1 baby potato-- just overpriced. My friend ordered nachos and they were burned So anyway We still had fun Bar area just needs a renovation and a small kitchen improvement

  • Cameo Clinton

Not great....twice forgot to cook the me a l ordered..and when it did finally arrive it wasnt cooked..chase us down to pay the meal we had already paid for...did not have our booking....did not want to honour the half price offer that got us to book in the first place...there was more. However in the end it was sorted and we did enjoy the trivia. We will probably go back and give it another try.. .it really could not get worse.

  • Aaron Lorch

We had the worst work lunch here. Every meal was either burnt, cold, or missing something. The manager told us he can't help us because we took too long to mention the issues with the food, even though we were waiting at the bar for 10 minutes to bring up the burnt-black schnitzel. He then offered two $10 coupons that were valid "for a whole month." I said he can keep them. We're not coming back and we work around the corner.

Very nice room. The room wasn't big, but it was comfortable and quiet. A huge nice bathroom. Very conveniently located a short walk away from the station, though it wasn't obvious how to access it from the station. Google Maps helped. Much better than it looked from the outside!

Don't stay over Xmas. No staff over the break and we had 7 rubbish bags around the full bin in the shared kitchen for 3 days. Also we stayed 11 days and staff only offered cleansheets on day 9! Below average food. The spicy beef nachos were completely flavourless and I'm pretty sure the beef was just plain Bolognese. Sour cream was watery, guac was bland, cheese tasted like plastic. The whole dish had a cheap feel to it, like they used No Frills brand for everything. Complete waste of $15. Restaurant area was cold and empty, no atmosphere at all. Wouldn't eat here again.

I usually dont leave reviews but this place was so terrible that I had to. Ordered beetroot goat cheese salad and jack potato. Food took long time to come out and we got wrong salad that only had beetroot and spinach (where are chicken and goats cheese???). Jack potato that was boiled and came with cold bits of bacon...(do they even have an oven???)

The rooms are very nice, but room servicing is hopeless. And more importantly if you are ok being abused by a manager when your room hasn't been cleaned, then this is the place for you. I reported this incident to their management a month ago and am still waiting to heard back; They don't want repeat business, so they have succeeded with me.

Not sure what the head COOK was thinking covering my plate with gravy when it was a simple Salmon and Veggies meal. I’ve eaten here twice and tonight I was flabbergasted by what I was served. This is a very basic pub. The BWS bottle shop is convenient, the draught beer is well priced and cold and almost all of the staff are helpful and friendly. Woolworths have spent close to nothing on maintenance so it feels very tired, sad and worn out. The food looks ok but I haven’t tried it.

Don't have much experience staying at budget hotels. So, no idea if it's normal in such hotels. Paint was peeling in some areas. Air-conditioning was making rattling noise. Next to busy road and train station. I guess that's what ear plugs were provided for. Bed, shower and tv were decent.

It's an ok pub with cheap rooms located on the Pacific Highway. The first night we stayed there we found pizza boxes left in our room. The second time we stayed there was in a share room that stink like 100 year old unwashed feet. The bar staff are friendly and it is cheap.

G8t old pub. Staff were friendly, food was g8t. In fact, if you're there on a Saturday, everything on the menu is only $16. The rooms themselves aren't to bad. The train station is literally just there, a five minute walk from the pub. Will definitely go back there.

Good value chicken schnitzel. Not bad. Pub is a bit dated but hey it serves beer on tap. No complaints.
