I love the bread at this bakery, my daughter would usually drive me sometimes when she’s not busy. They have a discount on certain days and I would buy more than we need for that day. I also buy some pastries for my grandchildren. Today Tuesday, February 9, at around 8:00 am, I encountered 2 young ladies and the taller one was the one who served me. I told her my orders. This is how our conversation went from the time I felt minimized. Her: Can you repeat your last order? Me: The cheese loaf. Her: The Asiago bread loaf! Me: Yes. She went in and took her time to get my orders, my daughter who bought something else from another bakery wondered what was taking me so long. She was already waiting outside in the car. I’m an older Asian woman (72) and I feel that this white young lady was trying to minimize me. She made me feel really “small”. I’m a retired public school teacher and I always emphasized to my students the value of good manners, I guess this young lady was absent when her own teacher taught it.

Huge fan. I finally centered outside my neighborhood after a few months of hunkering down. Noe Valley bakery is a cute bakery that features cupcakes, pastries, bread, cookies, whole cakes, and more. There is typically a wait to get in. There are three things I loved. 1) They had a large selection of items in stock in the afternoon. I can’t tell you how many bakeries I’ve been to that think it’s ok to run out of items by noon. Sorry I’m not waking up at 8am to buy a scone because you can’t forecast properly. 2) They had familiar items that were made well. I could get a cupcake, almond croissant, and eclair, and they were all excellent. Sometimes bakeries are too fancy or focus too much on breakfast pastries. 3) They do marketing. I love to see their social media up to date. And the in store signage. They were promoting a King Cake. They had great signage, king cakes in stock, and they were in cute boxes. I can’t wait to return.

As someone who lives in San Diego and can't seem to find a decent scone anywhere (I've been trying for 2 years), whenever I travel I look for the things I miss the most from the east coast and let me say that Noe Valley Bakery satisfied my scone craving and then some. The place is adorable and everything looks like a must try. I bought the cranberry lemon and the blueberry pecan scones, but I only had the cranberry lemon scone so far and it was a taste of heaven. I was eating the crumbs (not even embarrassed to say that) Moist and flaky, not too sweet, baked to perfection. This is my 2nd time in San Francisco but I can affirm that whenever I'm in town I will definitely be back. I will probably stop by here again before I head back down to SoCal!! A must check out spot for sure!

Classic bakery but was slightly disappointed by the items we ordered. The turtle cheesecake was a bit too dense and also didn't really have much flavor. The quiche lorraine was just "okay" and seemed to be lacking in flavor. Though my husband loves quiches so we tried the same item in the West Portal outlet and it was absolutely delicious. What they did get right in both places was the crust on the quiche - it was buttery and just the right amount of flakiness. The one item I really did like though from this outlet was the lemon tart - it was just the right amount tart and they nailed the crust again. Based on the items that I tried, I would say that their breads and baked crusts are winners and I just need to try those the next time.

Can't count on your order being there if pre-ordering! This is the 3rd time that my order has been only partially filled, with NO notification. I needed a pumpkin bread for an event, which I pre-ordered before Thanksgiving. I arrive to pick it up this eve and the gentleman states "he gave it away earlier because it wasn't properly labeled." Are you kidding me?!?! If that was the case, someone should have remedied the problem, not waited until I came to pick it up and now have no option to replace this for the event. You need to fix your system. It's horrible customer service and I cannot count on your bakery any longer. ***Follow-up to "response from the owner". Never received a follow up from the manger.

Noe Valley Bakery is amazing! We just ordered the most delicious salted caramel cake for a retirement party and the process was super simple, and the cake turned out BEAUTIFUL! I'm a School Social Worker for San Francisco and reached out to them to ask about a potential donation for a teacher who was retiring after 30 years teaching 1st grade (goodness knows, that’s someone who deserves a cake). They JUMPED at the chance and were incredibly kind and gracious. When I was picking the cake up I saw some chocolate cherry bread and couldn’t pass up this combo of what are literally my three favorite foods and it also did not disappoint – amazing!!

Stopped by here for the first time on a Sunday around 12 noon. There wasn't much of a line and only had to wait a few minutes to get in. Everyone working there was very pleasant and friendly. The cupcakes are on the smaller side, but they are delicious! The person helping made it a point to ask if we only wanted one of each cupcake. I'm guessing most people often get many :) On our next return, we will probably be getting more than one of each. Dangerous! We also tried the twice baked almond croissant. It's not Jane-level good, but we enjoyed it! I would have liked to have seen a little more frangipane inside.

I tried the pizza crescent for the first time, the experience was lifted to cloud nine. First bite at the edge, the breaking of the crunchy dough then followed with the soft pastry created the best combination. The second bite caught the hot warm tomato with cheese. The tanginess of the fresh tomatoes together with the soft dough plus the cheese exploded in the mouth. After two bites, I need to chew fast so I can catch the third and fourth bite. The worse thing is that after the last bite, there is no more of this tasty crescent/pizza. I have to wait for the next time. Keep up with the good work.

I ordered two cakes for my daughters birthday that I was very disappointed with, I had ordered butter cream and got whipped cream on both cakes. I submitted my complaint online and want to thank Mary for her timely response to my complaint! Not only did she apologize for the mistake as assured me she would pass along to the cake manager, but she also refunded the full amount, which I wasn’t expecting! Because of this, I will most definitely give them a second go next time I am in need of a cake, everyone makes mistakes, even the best of the best as it was in this case! Thanks again Mary!! ❤️

My husband ordered a Birthday cake for our party, they were supposed to delivered it at the party venue, but the CAKE NEVER ARRIVED and they never called us. After we contacted them, they said they left it outside our address instead, WHO DOES THAT IN SF, WITHOUT PREVIUOS NOTICE? So we never found the cake. The kids in the party were super sad about the missing cake :( We used to order cakes from here, but after this experience and after reading many bad experiences as mine in other comments, it seems that they are constantly having bad service so NEVER BUYING AGAIN.

  • Jeanette Mathews

Ordered cupcakes for an event and the packaging they have is really not stable enough to hold even the mini cupcakes. I only walked one block to the car, then drove a bit (with bag propped fully upright and secured so it didn't shift). Then walk another few blocks to the venue, and all the cupcakes were destroyed. The cupcakes just fell over because the cardboard holders were too low and the center of gravity is high due to the icing and such. Not like some of the cupcakes. Literally every cupcake was ruined. Delicious flavors but won't get the cupcakes to go again.

  • F. Fang

Decent service, and even though there was a long line it moved pretty quickly. Tried the whole wheat sandwich loaf, Asiago roll, and blueberry scone with pecans. Overall, quality was OK, but I found all the baked goods to be quite dry. I try different bakeries all the time and generally I found others to be more moist. The scone was especially dry in that it crumbled – crumbly is generally not a bad description but a crumbling scone with gritty bits in the mouth isn't the most tasty experience! Nonetheless I am happy to stop by and give it a second chance.

I live blocks from this bakery which is dangerous. My favorite breakfast item is the cheddar and chive scone..which I get warmed up! The pastries are great, I have had them all. I will pick up a box for work. It also is my “go to” for birthday cakes. They have a great variety of flavors to satisfy every birthday gathering. You can even order sheet cakes. You can even get frozen cookie and scone dough to bake yourself. I highly recommend trying. Don’t be surprised if there is a line… it goes quick. They have a very efficient and friendly staff. Enjoy!

  • Ayşegül Yönet

I passed this place by for years before I discovered the amazing pastries and bread. Best scones I've ever had anywhere, especially the cheddar and currant orange ones. Double baked almonds croissant is also the best I've had anywhere in US. I was addicted to getting scones and almonds croissant every weekend. Only moving away saved me from my addiction and I've had it until the last day. Velvet mini cupcakes, hazelnut eclairs, olive bread are my other favorites. Their birthday cakes are so lite and tasty and worth the calories.

  • Sherry Li

I'm so used to peninsula bakeries that don't actually carry a variety of things and you have to plan ahead by preordering what you really need. What a refreshing change with Noe Valley Bakery! You can walk in and have a plethora of baked goods - breads, cupcakes, whole cakes, cookies, pastries - at your whim. We got a variety of cupcakes. They were all delicious but slightly on the pricier side since the size was smaller than I would have expected. That's fine though, they made up for it with flavor.

This long time local bakery maintains its history of great taste and unusual combinations. I like their large chunk fig bread reminiscent of similar Parisian loaves. And the cherry chocolate bread doesn’t skimp on ingredients either with healthy bits of fruit and meltable chocolate nuggets that smell wonderful in the toaster. Another personal favorite is their seed coated caramelized onion bits baguettes which share their fragrance in the bag driving home and explodes with sweet aroma when toasted.

  • Andrew Ozhyndovskyy

This is ridiculous! This has been one of our favorite jewish bakery for a long time-out for some reason this time that we went was terrible. Firs the service and attentiveness of the workers where terrible. They where also extremely rude not letting us into the bathroom even though it was not out of order and it was also not in cleaning yet. When we bought 4 rugula and 4 macaroons but we only received 3 of each. After this we had to remind staff to finish our order. In all it was not very good.

  • kathleen campbell

I ordered online and paid in advance for cupcakes for a child's birthday party. Was told on the phone there was curbside pickup. There wasn't. When i went inside to pick up my order it wasn't ready as promised and the clerk told me to get in line behind ten people. Finally someone emerged from the work area with my order. At the party the cupcakes were soft and mushy, falling apart. Not worth the drama. Plenty of better bakeries.

  • Bon Manhkong

This bakery will blow your mind! It was so good, my friend and I went back the next day! The mini cupcakes are an explosion in your mouth! My favorite cupcake was the Lemon Drop. My friend loved the Red Velvet. The 2nd time we got cookies... Pecan chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. Soon Good!! The coffee there is nice too! I'm allergic to eggs and dairy and am probably suffering from it right now... But totally worth it! LoL

  • S M

The baked goods are always good but the customer service is very meh. I wish they smiled more and greeted me happily.

This place is ultimately my favorite bakery. Love this place so much that even after moving to East Bay still drive to pick up goodies from here.. from their flourles choc treats to double backed almodn croissant , cupcakes, carrot cake to the one and only milky way bomb !!!so glad is back !! That is the best desert but also the people that work at 24 th and West portal are always so nice and friendly !

  • Corina Mihalache

This bakery makes fantastic product. I loved their breads , the seeded baguette with onions is amazing. I use to buy every day but did not work around anymore . Anyways, everytime when i am around i stop buy to buy lots of bread and treats for family and friends. Miss you guys! The team is also hardworking and always work when i see them. Compared with USA bad quality bread this place is incredible GREAT!

  • Laura

Fantastic independent bakery with a large selection of breads, quiches, cakes, cupcakes, pastries, cookies, and other savory and sweet treats. Their gourmet cakes and cupcakes are beautifully decorated and tailored to the season. Their window decor is seasonal, lovely, and very creative. The owners clearly care about their business and it shows. This place is very popular and often has a line.

  • Elliot Kell

Incredible little bakery, with a real local family vibe. Everything looks so tasty, making it extremely difficult to pick. I ended up having the pumpkin cheesecake, in the photo. It tasted beautiful and everything that my friends got was equally as stunning. Drinks also were made to a high quality. There is no indoor seating so we sat outside, which was perfectly fine for a coffee and cake.

  • James Frank

In my humble opinion, after having extensively tried Tartine and Noe Valley Bakery, NVB’s caramelized onion and sesame/poppy seed baguette might be the best thing I had tried (although I really did love Tartine’s country loaf I must admit). NVB’s danishes and mini pizzas are outrageous (the almond danish and ham pizza especially). Can’t recommend enough if you’re in the area.

  • SB Duggirala

Cute Neighborhood bakery with eclectic options! They have varieties of bread and pastries. All their pastries and breads are quite delectable. Breads are flavorful and fresh. Their cakes are moist and spongy. Tried their chocolate cake slice - totally addicting. Prices are bit high but definitely worth it for the quality. Will definitely go back to try their pastries!

  • Sarah D

One of my favorite bakeries in the city! They feature rugelach to cupcakes. Cake quality is basic high end new American. I come here with my nephews because they love the M&Ms cookies. They used to have a yellow smiley face cookie that I miss - bring it back, Noe Valley Bakery! Occasional lines and once in a blue moon they’ll be sold out of everything.

  • Lucas Chang

Super duper fun times at this bakery. They have lots of yummy foods and also bake goods. I personally ordered the m and m cookie the lemon tarts the pecan cookie. The people that worked there were super nice and they even put our food in bags! I throughly enjoyed my time at this bakery and I will definitely be going again to this fine establishment.

  • Myriam J. S.

One of my favorite bakery in San Francisco! Located in the best neighborhood of "Noe Valley", you'll find a delicious bakery. Have been ordering the cheese scone for years now and the salted chocolate cupcake. Yummyyyy. Price is good and staff are always nice. Definitely make a stop whenever you are by this neighborhood! Can't wait to go back there!

  • Andrew Grossman

We are gluten free and Noe Valley Bakery made the most amazing gluten free cake for my partner’s birthday. We also tried a raspberry tart of some kind (almond filling?) and a gluten free crust. The raspberry flavor was off the wall fresh and full! I have found my new favorite bakery in the Bay Area. I’ll be back for any special occasion.

  • Indi Knightly

Cake is okay. Drove 85 miles to get a cake for my own birthday and both times I spoke with someone on the phone, I was spoken to rudely and unprofessionally. Absolutely not coming back and whoever she is she's hurting your business Edit: I had sent you an email regarding this issue before ever posting my review, and you have ignored it.

  • L S Bell

It vaguely looks like what is posted in the online ordering shot (at left). "Large" is about 7-inch diameter. I think the actual 4 blueberries on mine must be the ones that spilled off in their overflowing photo. Fortunately, their stuff tastes great, but if you do online orders, don't count on it really looking like the photos.

  • Karla Mei Robertson

Good, not great bakery. It’s a solid choice with a wide variety of baked goods and decent coffee. And the prices are fair. But you should consider it a neighborhood place and not a destination like Tartine or one of the countless other fancier bakeries. This is the place to visit regularly or buy your kids birthday cake from.

  • Roy Chan

Can’t trust them. I’m in charge of getting a birthday cake for my associate on this Saturday after the bakery’s 2-days off for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I did call on Tuesday, they did confirm the gluten free cakes would be available by 9 am. I promptly arrived and was told the gluten free cakes won’t be available today.

  • Jim Oakley

I have mixed feelings in reviewing this place because it's so good and popular and I don't want it to get more crowded. Damn social responsibility. I had a sticky bun and a scone and they were great. I also bought a beautiful loaf of bread that they sliced for me on the spot. Big thumbs up and the wait really wasn't that bad

  • Diana Mann

Sub-par bakery with primarily sweets. I didn’t try the cake/cupcakes but the croissants and the sourdough were worse than the grocery store bakery. Not worth the line and the rude staff - head down the street to the French Boulangerie instead

I had a big order right before Christmas that they graciously accommodated. Great experience with everything from service to the freshness and tastiness of the pastries. I'll definitely be coming back soon, and we already marked our calendars to come again next year for the delicious stollen.

  • David Spector

THE BEST challah!!! In the US! Trust me it's amazing. Only available on weekends. Best king cake during Mardi gras season too. Incredible they use the same challah style dough for it. Its incredible better than anything you'll get in new Orleans (I used to live there I am not exaggerating).

  • kissie palmer-martin

We went to this bakery for the first time yesterday and just bought a couple things to try. Wow! The pecan swirl and berry scone were so good!!! I’m just annoyed I didn’t try them before we left, otherwise I would have ran back in and bought a few more things. Will definitely be back soon!

  • Edric

Friendly staff and the cupcakes are great! I did a request to add frosting writing on it. Unfortunately on day of orders they can only use chocolate frosting so it doesn't show up well on cupcakes with a chocolate base but if you order ahead they can accommodate you with different colors

  • Madison Hamzy

I ordered the Oreo Cake for my birthday this weekend and it was absolutely delicious! I loved the flavors and whipped cream frosting. It was incredible! We even ate the leftovers the next morning. I will absolutely be ordering from here for all our celebrations big and small!

  • Amy Thomas

Ordered assorted cupcakes for my daughter’s wedding & they were absolutely amazing!! Thank you very much!! Definitely recommend. Red velvet & mostest were the biggest hit!

My husband and I have been here many times as we own a business down the street. This place is dangerous because everything is just so delicious and tasty. One note to the owners: please bring back the Ginger Cherry Scone :) Staff is always very friendly and helpful too!!

  • Lara E Neich

I bought a red velvet birthday cake from the bakery. It was the best cake I’ve ever had. Their cream cheese icing is out of this world. They also made it with custom icing the day before it was needed. I’m going to make up occasions to have more of their cake in my life.

  • Oneill Mclean

Noe Valley Bakery truly impressed me with their extraordinary passion fruit cake! It was the highlight of my birthday celebration last year. A part from their cake selection they offer a wonderful assortment of cookies, pies, and other wonderful sweet and savory treats!

  • Tavi

Very nice. Usually, there isn't a wait but if it's a holiday or popular national day there is one. The bakes are very good and even though the prices may seem a bit over average, they are worth it. I would recommend this to anyone who has a craving for holiday treats.

  • Justin Wong

Fabulous local bakery featuring sweet & savory items, cakes, cupcakes, pastries, and seasonal items. There's usually a 10 minute wait in line to enter. That's how good it is. I stop by after my monthly haircut and everything I've tried has always been excellent.

  • Alex Mackenzie-Torres

I love their cupcakes (Boston cream, Chocolate in particular) and their coffee is not too bad. I´ve never ordered one of their cakes but they look quite tempting. Easter buns are simply magic. A bit overpriced in my opinion but the quality is pretty good.

  • Meredith Goldsmith

Delicious bakery. Favorites are the challah, cupcakes, oatmeal cookies, oatmeal cookie frozen dough, scones. Warning : don’t advance order pies for holidays unless you want to wait in a huge line up to one hour outside to pick it up on the designated day.

  • Luca Fox

Everything I’ve gotten from here has been delicious. The apricot ginger loaf! The savory scone! The veggie quiche! One thing to note is that they don’t offer to warm things up e.g. quiche, so that would be better taken home rather than eaten on the spot.

  • Anya Mezak

My parents visited from out of town and I took them there for some fresh bread. We came out with their fig loaf (amazing!!) and several pastries (the sweet cheese cherry pocket blew them away!). The buttery blueberry scones are also highly recommended.

  • Azia Yenne

Cheddar cheese scone has been my favorite for years! Their cupcakes and cakes are so fabulous we had them make our wedding cake! The pies and tarts are always fabulous especially to share with friends. Cant go wrong with anything on their menu

  • Lynne Rolland-Newburne

The bread here is amazing. We try a different loaf every other week. Their cupcakes and pastries are not to be missed! Just tried the moistest cupcake and eclair, OMG so good! Staff is amazing too Don't miss the baked potato bread! …

  • Amrita Venkatraman

This is the best bakery in SF hands down. The staff is so sweet, the sweet treats are incredible (try the chocolate bomb and the lemon tart) and they gave me a discount on my purchase on my birthday! I'll be coming back again and again.

  • Joshua Zloof

I’ve picked up 2 cakes here for a couple birthdays. So good! The texture is super light and fluffy. Frosting has a silky mouthfeel. One was strawberry and the other was funfetti- I’d honestly have a hard time choosing between the two.

  • Emily Dabe

I love Noe Valley bakery! Not only are their baked goods amazing I have a soy allergy & they don’t use soybean oil in their bakes! So it’s my go to. The lines are worth it and if you go before 9 am on a weekend you’re usually okay

  • Liz A.

Delish! The hubby bought me the Got Milk a while back ago...OMG! This time bought the Strawberry cake and had to pick up a savory for my self(cheese & chive scone) and mmmmm! My Kiddo loved her cupcake too, si that is wonderful!

  • Brian Adam

Order and eat the rugelach; all their flavors are quite good. Although they are on the sweeter side since they're all glazed. I last came here during the holiday season and had their iced snowman cookie --- it was very crisp! =)

  • foxy foxy

One of the best chocolate croissants I've had. I highly recommend heating them up a little. One of the girls was really helpful and made some fresh coffee for me. I'm looking forward to trying more of their pastries and scones!

  • Tom Lee

great selection of pastries and nice packaging. it was difficult to spot while driving but you can find it easily when on foot. the service was quick and the store was very neat. i got a cheesecake and it tasted great.

  • Alice knows

Hey ya'll, I picked up my order on the the 7th and at last minute I bought the Asiago bread which was clearly not right. I couldn't serve it. I'm complaining because I drove so far to pick up. Just a bad batch I quess.

  • Elizabeth Perez

I ordered my birthday cake from Noe Valley Bakery and also their Pear Tart. They’re both delicious. I chose the Pink Lemonade birthday cake with optional flowers. It was a hit! Simply incredible! It’s my new favorite!

  • Germain Tronchet

I love this place! I’m French and was looking for a good bakery in Noe Valley. This is it! I usually get a baguette. Always fresh and crisp. The loaves, croissants, pastries and cakes are excellent too …

  • Jeremy

Blew me away. Almond croissant was to die for. Carrot cake mini muffins were out of this world. Fruit tart was very good, not the best I’ve had, but very good. Super clean, friendly staff, all around wonderful.

  • Trevor Lahey

Phenomenal baked goods and pastries. In fact, it's very popular and tends to draw a crowd. It's a small space, and you can expect a line, so please practice patience! It's well worth the wait, take your time.

  • Michael Lerman (Michaels Lyric)

It says that I visited this bakery 3 days ago... Correction; I tried to visit. Gave up, due to the long line. Week before, I tried, but couldn't find any parking... But yes, Noe Valley Bakery is amazing......

  • Mike Springer

Very good bakery! Noe Valley Bakery seems to just keep getting better. At this point, they have items that are genuinely excellent. And, I’m calling out their dark chocolate cake for being fantastic!

  • Laura Nachbur

OMG! This is The Best bakery I’ve ever experienced. Scones were stellar and cupcakes and pastries were amazing! Not too sweet- perfect. This out of town we is hooked! Got the photo a little too late.

  • Mariano C

It's not a secret that Noe Valley Bakery is one of the best in the city. Great selection of pastries, cakes, cupcakes and quiches. Reasonable prices for their quality and great service.

  • Wilson Tsang

The cheesecakes are moist without being too sweet, the brownie was nice and dense with a crisp exterior. Everything here is fairly priced and tastes just right, come and try your own!

  • Robert Meyer

Always a pleasant experience and I enjoy the cupcakes. But at the price you pay for a birthday cake, I expected it to taste great. Not “fine,” which was how it tasted. Ah well.

  • Andrea Santos

- i thought the jalapeño bacon scone was good but nothing too special - would get the twice baked almond croissant again! it was flaky and had a good amount of filling inside

  • Aarti Raman

Discovered the mission fig bread here for the first time and loved it. They also do a whole wheat sourdough which I rarely see elsewhere. Very cute bakery!!

  • Dave Lonkani

Great bread and bakery products, line up outside and wait to enter... I messed this up. Everyone else seemed to know what they were doing...

  • Pars Ethis

Always amazing, never disappointing. A bakery that looks like a jewelry store, so hard to stop ordering. Expensive, but so worth the treat.

  • Demetra Brege

I ordered a cake to be delivered to my son for his birthday and the staff couldn't have been nicer - I heard the cake was delicious too!

  • Simone Di Somma

High quality pastries, top notch ingredients and efficient service. A morale booster for your days. Warning: No seats, only take away

  • jen do

Love all the goodies a little pricey for me, but worth it! My most favorites is the raspberry cheese cake, fruit tart & carrot …

  • Linda Grigorik

They have really taste scones! I liked both their savory and sweet ones! Aiming to go back and try some of their other pastries.

  • Katheryng Salgado

Items are maybe a little sweeter than most bakeries but still very tasty. The chocolate bomb was a good different treat.

  • Karen Perkins

Love, love, love their mini raspberry cheesecakes, and the quiche Lorraine. I go here whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

  • Tess A

Very rude and unprofessional. Baked goods are okay, but not worth going back when staff treats customers so poorly.

  • moritzw

Amazing bakery with really great almond croissants. You might have to wait in line a little but it’s worth it!

  • Jonathan Miranda

I love going to this bakery. There's always a line (and for good reason) so I recommend you order for pickup!

  • Daniel Jiang

Got a morning bun and a chocolate croissant — both were good, but would especially recommend the morning bun

  • Alexa Barnes

Beautiful and delicious cakes! They even added a custom message free of charge when I went to pick it up.

  • Yusi
