Thurs 16/11/23 Overcast, off and on showers sunshine. Cycling to Redwood Forest a couple of hills no problem the down hills fast left rubber on the corners. The highlight for me was the downhill to Redwood braking and sliding on the loose gravel. The actual forest still moves me every time I visit. The return trip we took the fast-winding roads passed Warburton East to Warburton. The hardest part was still to come for me when my brothers decided that I was the fittest and that I should walk uphill back to the carpark to get my vehicle drive down pick up my twin drive him back up to get his vehicle return to the others and load the bikes onboard. .

A truly beautiful walking and mountain bike riding trail along the old aqueduct. Tall fern trees, huge old growth Mountain Ash, hundreds of birds and cascading streams...and so quiet in that huge way that old growth forests can be. I walked and rode my mountain bike the route up the mountain via Yuonga Road and entered the trail at the carpark. I followed the trail along for about 7km to Dee Road carpark and then took the steep descent via the well surfaced Dee Road down onto the Lilydale Warburton rail trail back to Warburton. The highlight was the aqueduct...brilliant!

WINTER 2023: No car access via Yuonga Road carpark due to storm damage. No access to Millgrove due to bridge damage. Try Sussex Road entrance instead....this is where photos are taken.

Dogs on leads allowed in mid trail section (see sign in photo!) ie. between Sussex Rd and Yuonga Rd. No dogs allowed where the National Park begins as the trail crosses Mt Donna Buang Road....so confusing

Following alongside the old aqueduct the gravel track runs for around 30Km. There are several car parks along the route to allow shorter distances for walkers and riders. The path has a very gentle slope and is good for those less energetic. Close to dusk there are very real possibilities to spot both fallow and samba deer crossing the trail. Tall trees and tree ferns, abundant wild birds make this a very pleasant place.

Absolutely beautiful. The winding roads gives so much character to the surrounding landscape, which consists of lush greenery and breathtaking views. Definitely worth the visit after walking along the Yarra River starting from Warburton town. Would definitely come back again.

Fantastic walk through Warburton with giant ferns and even more gigantic trees!! If you're in the area with 5-6 hours, it's a good hike to Mount Victoria and back over 6km
