Okami used to be my favourite restaurant. I used to go there with my partner twice a month on average, however my partner and I have split and due to the 'no lonely people' rule I can't access the all you can eat menu at Okami anymore. I have many friends but not many of them are interested in all you can eat Japanese. I wouldn't mind eating ala carte however it becomes prohibitively expensive quickly and the portions of the things that I like are altered and I can't order just the things like off the all you can eat menu for fare prices. I would be fine with the situation if I could order what I like take away. But the yakiniku Beef don bowl is 95 percent rice and no matter what I say I can't get anybody at Okami to give me a good portion of yakiniku beef for a far price. I would pay $30 dollars for a good sized bowl full of yakiniku beef, but Okami systems swear that this is impossible. You don't know what is going on in peoples lives, She took my daughter without just cause. Losing my favourite restaurant because of your strict rules has been a bigger blow to me than it would seem to most people.. Okami should be more flexible at least with its ala cart and takeaway menu. And lighten up on individuals who love your restaurant they are sometimes the people who need your services most. I am disappointed in you.

Arrived at the restaurant tonight for a relatives birthday. As soon as we sat down, the speakers started blasting “happy birthday” for another table. Now, I don’t have an issue with playing happy birthday for someone, but it was so deafeningly loud I couldn’t hear myself think and the speakers were so cooked that it was insanely distorted. After this we ordered drinks and a first round of food. I got a coke I needed to follow up on another 15 mins later as it still hadn’t arrived while others at the table had nearly finished theirs, and a tea was stone cold. Food was ok-ish. Some dishes were quite nice while others were a crime against food. I found a bone in the sashimi by nearly choking on it and the best the staff could do was say sorry, while still charging us full price. It was otherwise ok but the lows were SO low that I can’t give it higher than 1 star. I’ll be back when I’m ready to choke on dinner again. Following day update: 2 of us are feeling quite ill.

Probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. Food was great, so I’ll start with a positive. The owner was great too as she was attentive and friendly. As for the rest it was actually ridiculous. We couldn’t wait until our service was over! One waitress in particular with braids at her fringe spoke down to us when we wanted to order as she didn’t “have her iPad” and then when we asked if we could just order a few things she responded back like it was a nuisance then told me to “go”. Then, the young fella on the floor should seriously consider an attitude check. Sliding food to us on our table like we were dogs and had a condescending attitude. Won’t return ever and a birthday dinner night ruined. The lack of customer service had me speechless. We also asked said girl above to clear our table and it was like we pulled her teeth and we saw her walk to the back and not attend. Probably get better service at Maccas.

Have been to a few Okami restaurants over the years. This, was not it. Let me start by saying staff were very kind & very helpful & friendly, but otherwise, we did not have a good experience. While the food that came out was hot, it was unfortunately tasteless, especially the udon noodle soup. Wait times were especially long, we asked for one particular chicken dish three times only to wait 40 mins. this wouldn't be a problem normally however, okami allocates timeslots to patrons, by the time it came out it was almost time for us to leave. I understand being busy, especially on the weekend but most other okami restaurants are as, if not more busy. The space itself also very cramped & the passageway to the toilets was lined with stacked chairs, making it very difficult for people to navigate.

Delicious buffet dinner. So many menu options to choose from. Excellent value for $36.80 pp. Keep ordering until you are full! We had sushi, sashimi, nigiri, tempura prawns and vegetables, cold cooked prawns, edadme, karage chicken, katsu chicken, mushroom salad, the list goes on. The Icecream choices to finish were all delicious. Friendly staff. Will return and highly recommend the buffet dinner option.

Ignore the online booking system. Best to call them first to see if you can walk in. My friend & I initially thought it was booked out coz we couldn't select any time. Luckily we called. When we arrived it was only half full. Been here many times and initially it was great but I feel like the amount of food on some of the dishes are getting smaller and smaller which is a bit disappointing.

Great value for money, certainly won't go hungry and for $36.80 per person (minimum is 2 people) to try out different foods and with extra, if you can fit it in, it's definitelya bargain. Service was a bit slow to start, there were a lot of people but our server was as attentive as she could be. The food itself wasn't bad but definitely needed a bit more seasoning all around, especially the tempura sauce which was definitely on the bland side. I do recommend the Miso Beef, Beef carpacio, soba and the sushi/sashimi platter.

I went here tonight with family. Everything was amazing. Fast , friendly service. You guys rock. Our main waiter Liam , showed exceptional hospitality manners, he was friendly & helpful , polite & mature. He will go along way if he chooses to stay in hospitality. All staff were great, service fast & food 5⭐️. Will definitely be going back again. Please pass on out gratitude to Liam, he thought he was in trouble at 1st I think. He should be proud of himself

Been here quite a few times now , food has always been great and friendly staff make for a decent experience. Would be nice to see the full potential and have the dozens of boxes of toilet paper, hand towel and random stuff stored out of the dining room though . The mountains of clutter takes a 5 star experience down to a 3 sorry . Will be back but would really appreciate sitting in a clean dining room not a storeroom .

Great food at a very reasonable price. The staff are very polite and friendly. It is basically all you can eat in 2 hours (which is more than enough time). You can order everything from the menu as many times as you want. Drink are ofcourse separate. Most of the dishes are freshly made upon your order and are very well presented.

First time recently trying the all you can eat and had to ask again each time for stuff we’d ordered they didn’t bring, which to be fair really wasn’t much as the portion sizes were small. Food was okay but a bit oily. I left still hungry as I think they wanted to close the kitchen early even though we arrived not long after opening and the staff didn’t come over again, we were there less than an hour.

Absolutely perfect: delicious & fresh Disappointed Delux set are gone!! Just for during Covid-19 as staff mentioned, also if we go there we can have the same set and same price. But what are the differences? If we don’t want to go there just want takeaway. Just written down each menu as staff recommended it costs $121, that means more expensive than delux set appropriately $50. ???

We have been here before and the service and food were perfect. What a difference a few weeks makes. The service was slow, and the food wasn't great. The teriyaki beef was so dry, the friend rice was bland and overall the food lacked flavour. It's such a pity as we were looking forward to our dinner.

Okami is amazing. Fresh tasty vibrant food in a cosy atmosphere. The service is great, the welcome that you receive is warm and friendly. Great place for that little date night or large family get together. The delivery of food from the time of order is very quick and it only gets better from there. Love Okami in general. Whittlesea. Ordered takeaway 3 times since opened and only because I love the food. But given up now. Will not even go to Whittlesea to dine in. On all occasions they tell you 20 minutes or sometimes 30 minutes and you end up waiting over an hour once you get there. Not good enough.

Ordered food from here on the 28/12/22 for dinner, 2 of the ppl that share from meal from here for both of them to food poisoning, will never been ordering from here again.

What a great meal. I've been to 5 or 6 Okami restaurants throughout Melbourne. Whittlesea is the best, the friendliest staff who come to you to see if you want to order more. The food is the freshest and tastiest. An overall fantastic experience, I recommend 100%.

I think that the restaurant was clean, service was prompt and friendly. Great variety of food however felt that some of the chicken and beef dishes a bit chewy otherwise had a good time.

Bloody Fantastic, Came across from SA to visit family and we decided to give Okami in Whittlesea a go after having the same at Greensborough years ago. Incredible food, bloody great serving sizes, now we just need more in SA so we can have it over there too!

Update: after the teething problems of the opening month, the restaurant has come into its own as a great Japanese place. Staff are friendly and service is great, not to add but the food is fantastic, great option for Japanese food take away or eat in.
