I have been shopping at the Cigar Emporium since 2010 and still consider myself a novice cigar aficionado. However, I do know what I like and I also conduct my own research prior to purchasing any cigar. The owner is very knowledgeable and will give you the necessary assistance to make a choice suitable for your palate but don't forget he can only offer an opinion because what he might like will differ expensively based upon your own experience and smoke profile. This is also why I conduct my own precursory research into a particular cigar before buying. All this to say that the Cigar Emporium is the only real cigar store in Ottawa with an extensive supply. I just love the ambiance as I walk through the door and would recommend this location to visitors near and far. The only reason I don't include those individuals that live in Ottawa is that if you are a cigar smoker you already know the Cigar Emporium and what it has to offer. It is also true that our taxes make this product 2 x as expensive as our neighbours in the state. However, if you take into account the exchange rate and unless travelling to the states where it's convenient to pick up a box the cost will be just as much in the end. So buy and enjoy the occasional cigars from the Emporium and don't worry too much about the taxes. Regards, My2cents

Owner is always helpful and having developed a relationship he frequently gives me cigars to try out. You can always ask if he has bundles/boxes and if so buy in bulk. Carries a wide variety of cigars accesories, pipes and tobacco's. I have been going there for years and although the cigars are expensive, probably no more than other locations. I like to buy local and get the cigars at time of purchase so they can go right into my humidor and rest before smoking. If you are looking for a cigar as a new smoker or experienced smoker, this is the place to go.

We stopped into this fine tobacconist looking for some items for friends we know love pipes. We met Ury and asked the usual (foolish) questions for people like us who know nothing about tobacco. He was very patient, helpful, knowledgeable and went out of his way to get us what we were looking for. We were made to feel comfortable and best yet we got the perfect tobacco blends we'd been looking for. If you are in Ottawa, if you like good tobacco, if you are frustrated with head shops posing as tobacco shops then this is a must visit store. Thank you Ury!

1st time experience and the owner was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction for selections. I was looking for a particular country with medium bodied cigars, and he was able to assist me with fine selections. Price is a little higher than what I thought, but at the end I bought cigars and some accessories with not a single regret. 1st time there, but definitely not my last.

I'm a pipe smoker not a cigar smoker so can't speak to cigar selection or $$. However, has the widest selection of pipe tobaccos and pipes in Ottawa. The owner is always in the store and is very friendly and knowledgeable. Parking can be tricky because it is in the by-ward market area, but I seem to always be lucky and find a spot right in front of the store or within 1-block.

A great cigar shop with a large selection for both your pallet and wallet. The service is top notch; I always receive courteous assistance in my cigar selection which is much appreciated and needed, myself being only a "wanabe" cigar smoker. It is also where I buy my pipe tobacco and stock up on cedar sticks.

Knowledgeable staff. And very friendly. Many different types of tobacco. Good prices too. I was looking for pipe tobacco. Mister B's. They had it. And a huge selection of pipes. From $5 corn-cobs to $500 Birmingham. An excellent selection. Oh, there are lots of cigars, but I don't have experience with those.

Price are fair, huge selection and the place is always kept clean with an addicting tobacco smell. The employee is really helpful when asked questions related to business, but he’s a brick wall when trying to have a casual small talk. They also sell hair products, shoe polishers and some nice lighters.

Just called to buy a box of Cohibas of which I know nothing for a high ranking military official in Turkey. Fellow answering the phone was rude, maybe bc I am a woman, didn't want to tell me price of a box, just individual cigars. HMM...maybe I shall take up smoking.

The owner is very kind and knowledgeable, helped me pick out my very first humidor and was a fairly well priced. The selection of miscellaneous items was surprisingly good and make great gifts for me and my friends who have an interest in the culture of cigars.

Good selection of cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco and accessories. Prices are fair and the store is always well kept. The shop keeper (who I believe is the owner) keeps to himself and will let you browse but, if you speak up he will assist you.

Friendly service and unique cigar shop. The man who runs this place is such a pleasant fellow and he knows his stuff. Everything from cigars, humidors and accessories, snus, shaving.. perfect place to get a gift for the man in your life.

This place has an impressive inventory that you can actually see and smell, which is uncommon here given the prices for cigars in Canada. Cubans are closest to the door, and there are some hidden gems further in the back. Cheers
