I was here to get real time educational experience on Fire Service course in pursuance to my academic program on Occupational Health and Safety. I had 11 technical questions with me that needed answers from the Fire Fighters and I went to this Fire Station 34 to get those 11 answers, albeit, I was apprehensive on how I was going to be received because of my colour and my accent, but my fear was kept at bay as soon as I met Neil, who is a Fire Fighter in that station. Neil, was very welcoming and kept smiling throughout the brief time i used to explain my reasons of being at their station. Neil (my apologies, I didn't get his last name) was so pleased to receive me and to help me answer all my questions. In fact, when I showed him the template of my questions, he looked at it and I said to me "Oh yeah! I can help you answer all your questions with ease and with all pleasure. Please come with me." He immediately took me under his wings and mentored me like I was his favourite student. He was very intelligent, patient, very professional and an excellent teacher. I would like to use this opportunity to say a very big thank you to Neil. You made me feel very much important and you left an indelible impression in my heart. Ottawa Fire Station 34 is lucky to have you. You are simply wonderful. I wished to be like him someday.
