Setup and packing up is super quick and easy. Which was handy for changing camp each day. We took off for a quick weekend adventure with the fam and having all the gear ready to go in Kutju was epic. We barely needed to pack much more than the clothes on our backs and bought food on the way. The kids loved the 2 e-bikes on the back and the fridge between to the back seats for their snacks and that the top two joints joined. Everything worked perfectly and so convenient with the lighting built into the tents and the awning and the back of the defender. We had plenty of power and water running low never became an issue. The build quality of the camping customizations are high end as are the stove and eating utensils. We can’t wait to take out Kujtu again for regular long weekend adventures with the kids.

We had such a fun weekend with the Kutju Defender. What a sexy beast of a vehicle! Everything is classy and well thought out. It was a bit of an experiment to go with kids, but it was fantastic. The kids ( and snake-phobic mum) LOVED the tents up on the roof and were able to get up and down the ladders just fine. Set up and pack down was super easy. Both me and my husband remarked how roomy our tent felt - not claustraphobic at all like some tents. And it was super cool how the tents can connect (or disconnect! haha) I loved the little touches like really nice linens and nicer than your average camping plates and bowls etc. Would definitely rent again - next time to try it off road!

What an adventure! Project Walkabout gave us an exceptional Land Rover Defender adventure that seamlessly blended luxury with off-road prowess. Their meticulously engineered camping ammenities were a big hit too! The pop-up tents were easy to set up, and the Starlink internet access was very convenient. The Defender's capability shined through the challenging terrains, which gave us a lot of confidence when driving. Setting up camp in the remote locations, surrounded by nature's grandeur, added an authentic touch to the overall expedition and beats any hotel room I've stayed in. I am eagerly anticipating my next expedition with them.

An exceptional experience with Phoenix from Project Walkabout and his 4WDs, a perfectly equipped Land Rover Defender, Kutju, for off-roading and camping in the great outdoors. The rental service provided by Phoenix was incredibly understanding and offered outstanding assistance. The Land Rover Defender performed excellently, proving to be super effective, especially when exploring challenging terrains like dunes or steep paths on Fraser Island. As a tourist, there is no better way to explore the beacons that Australia has to offer than that through the perspective of a 4x4 Defender. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first but the owners were so thoughtful in explaining everything, sharing recipes and even destinations. We rented the car for 10 days and what was helpful was the Starlink wifi feature bc we had internet wherever we went. Tent set up was easy which was the part i was most nervous about. i would easily rent it again- recommend highly.

There is NO terrain the Katjarra Defender can’t handle, and there is no amenities it hasn’t got which made our trip completely unforgettable…! This thing is kitted out with absolutely everything, it needs to be seen to be believed, so easy to book and the communication we received was clear and precise. The only regret we have is that we DIDN’T BOOK FOR LONG ENOUGH. Already started planning our next trip. Thank you.

What a fun camping journey we had. This vehicle is awesome!!! It's the small details which makes the difference. We went off grid and this vehicle could handle anything and it had everything we needed plus more. You can tell they have thought about everything. We will definitely do another journey again and this time longer trip to the Northern Territory and explore new places a normal car can't access.

After doing a lot of internet research we finally decided to hire a 4x4 Defender of PROJECT WALKABOUT and what a great decision it was, We hired the 4x4 for 6 days , the 4x4 is unbelievable, we climbed sand dunes with ease, It has everything you need and best of all it has Starlink internet access, thank you PROJECT WALKABOUT for the great 4x4 experience Highly recommend. Highly recommend the KUTJU Defender ! It was perfect for our trip to K’gari (Fraser Island). This car handles the sand dunes easily and is a lot of fun to drive off-road! Every equipment inside is well thought and really handy. The roof tents are top notch quality and really easy to deploy/fold. 100% recommended for any camping trip !

Excellent service with an absolutely fabulous vehicle. The car was fitted out exceptionally for camping with a slide out kitchen, two fridges, table and chairs to relax on the beach. I would more describe the weekend as clamping. A weekend sleeping in the sand dunes and watching the sun rise was just magical. Highly recommended.

Hired Kutjara for three days, went up to the Blue Mountains. Had a blast. Process to hire was effortless and smooth and the owner was really nice. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
