Unique Bakery - definitely worth visiting! Randomly found this place on a Google Search while in Northridge, CA. Upon arrival, we were greeted by what appeared to be (key point - our perspective) a somewhat short customer greeting. The food on display looked like it had been there for some time, and we almost left! The shop was really unique and we looked around at all the different things it had to offer, and noticed that some individuals were sitting and waiting, while others were coming in and picking up orders. There was a constant flow of customers and calls coming in, so we figured there has to be something special about this place. We decided we were going to try the custard filled donut (not the proper name, sorry!) And the lady behind the counter told us it would be ten minutes. I was like, "hold on, are you making this fresh?" Her response, "yes..." So I asked her, "do you make everything fresh??" And she said, "yes, except for some of the pre-packaged items". Well then my friends, this was a game changer for us! We ended up ordering several items including a meat stuffed Flatbread, a pizza flavored savory pie like item, the custard filled donut as well as a regular donut. They have several very well spaced out tables, all with unique coffee table books and a beautiful mural on one wall. The entire vibe was unique and funky. All the items we tried were delicious, and we will definitely be going back! Another thing to note was that they used fresh oil to deep fry their food... I can tell when places keep re-using old oil. With old oil items are darker and the oil seeps into the food and you can taste it. We the items we bought from here, the oil was FRESH!

I had two absolutely dreadful experiences at Papillon bakery in Northridge. Both instances left me extremely disappointed and inconvenienced. The first incident occurred two weeks ago when I called ahead to place an order while driving to the store, hoping to save myself some time. However, nobody picked up the phone, forcing me to visit the store in person. To my dismay, the phone continued to ring unanswered while the representative stood there, seemingly oblivious. I wasted precious time waiting to place my order, resulting in a 30-minute delay and making me late for an important meeting. Unfortunately, my second encounter was just as appalling. Today, I had thought I could trust Papillon bakery again, so I placed an order for pickup at 8:30 in the morning. However, upon arrival, my order was not ready. The staff informed me that they had misplaced the order slip, causing further delays and inconveniences. These experiences have left me deeply dissatisfied and questioning the reliability and professionalism of Papillon bakery in Northridge. I do not recommend this establishment if you value punctuality and efficient service.

STAY AWAY! Wow what a shltty customer service. Ordered online and came in to pick up 45 minutes later. Nothing was ready, order was never put in... Guy at counter gave me an attitude - like wait another 30 minutes or leave, we don't care. I asked for refund and he said they can't , have to wait for two days to refund, on cc....what??? Yea if it doesn't go thru just call us... He kept saying "what you wanna do?" Like I had a choice... So I waited another 30 minutes Was it worth the wait? Not really. Mood was ruined. Food was just ok... Upd. As I write the review another person comes in to pick up online order just to be told to wait... Disrespect for peoples time is a common practice here AVOID!

They will cancel your order through post mates if it's not large enough. You might wait the entire time it takes to prepare your order, even have a post mate assigned, and wait the 45 minutes before they decide to do so like was the case for me. My orders were $20-$30 both times they canceled. Haven't made it to the location to taste anything, and after a 2nd canceled delivery I don't think I'll make the effort. *Update: they continued to cancel my orders after I called to inquire before attempting a 3rd order. They said it was a problem with the app, which would be fixed shortly. and proceeded to cancel my next order the next day.

I have come to this place time and time again anad each time the service has gotten worse and the food has gotten horrible, i was there on saturday i picked up two Adjarakan one of them was basically raw the bread was still doughy( even though I asked it to be well done) and the other one had an egg shell in it. They did not give me the salt mix and when I asked for it the front desk lady was so rude and just looked me in the eyes and said they dont have it. For $30+ i would expect a better treatment and actually cooked food without any egg shells in it.

Was in the area working and wanted some baked goodies. Upon trying to order the cashier really showed she did not want to be there. There were no menus or signs on the display case so I had to ask what some of the food was. The cashier would huff and describe the food. I ordered this cheese pupusas looking food"wasn't told the name" and 2 custard donuts. The total came out to $22..... Since there was no signage it's a surprise on what things cost. The food was good but not worth that much. Would not recommend.

My first time visiting this bakery decided to try their churros. I purchased three of each flavor, three original, three strawberry, and three oreo. They are priced at three for 9.99, which was okay. The original churro lacked the cinnamon flavor for me, the strawberry-filling one was good, and the oreo also lacked flavor in my opinion. The staff was friendly and prompt to assist me. The place is clean and nicely decorated, they have sofas so people can sit and enjoy their treats.

If you like Nutella, you will like Papillon Bakery, but if you love Nutella Papillon needs to be on your speed dial because you will need to call in advance to get your next fix. Where else can you order a Nutella Boat??? That’s right it’s a bread basket for Nutella. If you like a good beignet, then take it to the next level with Ponchik. The Nutella Ponchick are very addictive, they are best enjoyed while they are still warm, so try one when you are still in the parking lot.

My wife and went to order ponciks, had to wait 10 minutes to prepare fresh as they said. We were carving to eat them with coffe but on the first bite the dough was so tough and chewy that was hard to cut either with a knife, and the filled cream was like solid and not creamy at all. Altough they said to make them fresh but it was clear to me that ponciks were old and they just refried it to give that sensation of warm and fresh, So disappointing, I will never go back there.

This bakery will fool you with the exterior. The gate makes the outside look a little more daunting than it is. I've passed it so many times with curiosity but never made it in. So glad I finally went! The inside is cute, clean, and has a little bit of an artsy feel to it. There is a decent amount of selections available, but I went for the most popular treat, the ponchiks. Got a dozen to share with friends and was surprised because they come warm! Can't wait to try more!

  • Tony Labej

If you're ever having a cheat day and want to treat yourself, then you've come to the right place! A lot of these reviews say that there is a long wait, but if you call ahead of time, it's ready when you get there. Of course it takes a long to make, because they make it from scratch once you place the order. I rather wait and have a fresh pastry than have pastry that's been sitting their all week.

  • Chewy Drops

The pastries here were so delicious but the young guy in the cashier was very timid. First of all he was walking back a forward through the entire store and it was my first time here so I didn't know how to pronounce the pastries so I was trying to pronounce once them and he was annoyed at me and corrected me so rudely. Then during the middle of the order he started to call someone in the phone!

We ordered online and tried a wide variety of their foods. I pretty much liked everything. But, they don't follow instructions. I ordered the 15 assorted ponchiks and specified: no nutella. Half savory and half sweet. What did we get? No savory. And half of them were nutella. VERY disappointing. However, the other pastries dough was excellent. The contents moist and juicy.

These location opened up two months ago. It is cleaner and larger than the North Hollywood location. The best part there is plenty of parking inside the parking lot and on the street. It is much easier to get in and out of the bakery. If you want you can call your order in prior to you coming to the bakery so you don't have to wait for them to make your Ponchiks.

  • Hye Jack

Awful costumer service. I ordered online it came 1hr late didn’t get some of my order some order flipped so I called them lady that I spoke with she said they will refund me . Now she’s not answering my text messages or calls and It’s been 2weeks that I am waiting for my refund. The point is not the money but the services that theyre providing.

  • Prashant Singh Sengar

Awesome bakery shop. Variety of pastries and their famous ponchik. We loved their Perashkis especially potato and cabbage. Reasonably priced, quick service, helpful staff, clean and cozy place. Nice location and ample of parking spots. I would recommend to order through call for timely pickup. It gets busy sometimes here.

  • Irina Volkova

Terrible experience with exactly this location. They gave me incorrect order, and we realized it when came home with donuts, they made a mistake and requested me to bring the order back instead of apologizing and giving a credit (or simply return the amount I paid), was rude and impolite while we were talking by phone.

1st time there the people who work there are Good people aside from service. While i was waiting there for my food a man came in, looked and sounded lost and asked if they could call his mother and a lot of people these days don't or wouldn't even listen but they totally called twice. Great food and genuinely kind.

  • Yesenia Izvolski

If I could give negative star, I would. The girl at the front is extremely rude with 0 etiquette. Her co workers do nothing but give attitude wich they should not be allowed to . The churro was rock hard I wish they were still opened so I could have them taste it. Can not believe the experience I had today.

  • Narek Harutyunyan

If you’re craving some authentic Armenian treats, Papillon International Bakery is where it’s at! Their ponchik is a game-changer - seriously, try it hot and thank me later. Just a heads up though, this place can get packed. If you’re not in the mood to stand in line, give them a ring and order ahead.

  • yuh yuh

Cook's work very hard to provide consistently good food made fresh per order. The only problem here are the customers who refuse to use masks and demand fresh food but refuse to wait for the food to be made. Order in advance or get ready to wait cos it gets very busy and everything is from scratch.

  • Michael Ashcraft

Wow! We came here by chance and luckily heeded suggestions to get the ponchik, freshly made right for you. Had never tried it before. Whoa! I would describe it like a jelly filled donut but with a churro-like exterior! Out of this world. If you have never tried, it is an eye-popper.

  • Araceli Lamas

I called at 8:35pm to place an order & i was told by Ryan it was too late to place an order because kitchen closes at 8:30pm i asked for a number for a manager since last time i went in store after 8:30 & they took my order. He didnt have a number to give me. Very unproffesional!

  • Caroline Trujillo

If you've never had a ponchik you need to stop what youre doing and eat one right now. It is one of my all time favorite desserts and having one of high quality from here where its hot and fresh cannot be compared to. Seriously you will thank me go to this place.

  • Drew

Not very impressed. They're kinda like beignets if they were made of leather... All the bread is very tough to tear...even though it was apparently made fresh, it seemed almost stale in a way. The chicken empanada was tasty, though. Just average overall.

  • Satenik Nazaryan

Woah! When I left I never had the nutella ponchiks, so glad I came to visit here. It is to die for literally the best thing you'll ever eat and soo worth the calories. There's nothing I can say that everyone else hasn't already said lol sooo soo good!!!

  • Janee' Smith (Thee Best Lyfe)

They prefer phone orders and are annoyed with you if you walk in and place an order for more than 2 people. They also don't have the same menu at each location and try to make you feel like an idiot and clueless of you want what the other location has.

Love the churros and so much more! I must add thank you for your response and I first visited the north hollywood location. Still great food however with the recent addition of your mural and new ambiance makes the Northridge location #1 in my book!

  • Brenda Galvez

Ive been following them on Instagram FOREVER, and my boyfriend was the one to physically introduce me to them.. I love all their food! We always like visiting different locations and ordering different things to try. So far, so good!

  • Johnybois

Lied to my face about the online order my sister made. She made it at 12 sharp would be ready in 30 mins. I came 30 minutes later for there to be NOTHING ready and having to wait another 30 minutes for the order to finally be made

  • rose solorio

I didn't feel welcomed walking in. I had some questions, being new to the place, however the salesperson made me felt like I was bothering him. Also, the pastry I bought was smaller in size than it normally is compared to others.

  • Nancy Serrano

They make the ponchiks right when you order them which is awesome but if you don't eat them right away they're really not that great. The service was friendly and efficient and they put plenty of filling in their pastries though.

  • Anthony Carson

I love this places ponchiks. They're like a beignet with stuff inside quth flavors from custard to Nutella severed hot. They also have a bunch of great pastries that I dont know the name if so you'll just have to try something.

  • Rosa Quintana

We were there a few days ago and made a special trip for this place because of the past reviews. We ordered beef and chicken empanadas and they were really dry and the flavor was the same on both. The dough was very chewy.

  • Sean Sokolsky

This place closes at 8:30pm, don’t waste your time driving here or even trying to make an order past 8pm. This “business” should change their hours if they are not going to serve people when they say they are open.

  • Josh Guzman

Been coming here since they opened. Loved their peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches, but they are not making them anymore. They still have delicious pastries to choose from and I always receive excellent service.

  • M M

Really friendly service and AWESOME ponchiks! Got the Nutella and Ferrero rocher filled ones, they are to die for. I would recommend ordering or calling ahead, it’s a bit of a wait since they’re made to order.

  • Miguel Perez

I wanted to really like this business but sadly I will never visit again. Very bad customer service and the girl behind the counter lacks in people skills. Zero of Five stars.

  • Devon Aviles

Always loved this place and just found out they opened one in my neighborhood! Try the perashkis...they are the best...and they are only 1.75 each! This place is a gem.

  • itzel Gomez

Everything is freshly baked! Amazing customer service. The lady was very helpful and friendly. I will be coming back soon due to my new addiction to their baked goods.

  • Bobbie Lopez

The guy working there was really nice, patient, and helpful. The items ordered were delicious! I will definitely go back, and remember to take pics and post them

  • Dj Cekic

Super yummy stuff st this bakery. Lots of deep fried stuff. This big boy loves fattening foods. And most of it they make right then and there for you. Enjoy!!

  • Armenian King

Deserts are delicious, although nazouks I bought were not fresh. Did not like the waiting for 20 minutes for getting fresh perashki, ponchik or lahmajun.

  • Jordan Stokes

Super awesome food, however it is a bit pricey and you are guaranteed no less than a 20 min wait time. If you can manage that, the food is worth it.

  • Y.A

Great Armenian bakery with multiple locations offering a full line of sweets and baked goods. Will definitely return when visiting the west coast.

  • Christopher Coleal

I love their food and their service is always prompt. Never a single complaint. There is a short wait as some of their hit food is made to order.

  • Diana

Friendly and inviting! Cool spot. Delicious Armenian pastries. I got a Dulce de leche ponchik and it's mouth watering. The bread is sooo good!

  • Alissa Haroush

Great donuts. Love that they were open Christmas day to buy for Chanukkah party! Like Israeli Sufganiyot, worth a delish try for sure!!!

  • O Bento

If you want a treat and you like donuts you have to try Ponchiks! They are made to order and custom filled. So good hot and fresh!

  • Laura Clay

They are ok... Prices are fine but service is SO SLOW. We waited nearly 45m for 2 items, and they were good but not THAT good!

  • Angelica Stuczynski

Very nice service. Very nice area like the inside is pretty and food is so delicious. I'd happily come here everyday to eat.

  • Spartaco

The banana and Nutella empanadas are pretty good, but the dough is a little too hard. Also, they are a bit pricey ($3 ea.)

  • Xxakaimite
