For 28 years I have been a loyal and regular customer. We have celebrated family occasions with your amazing cakes, spent our Sunday mornings enjoying your croissants, danish, and cinnamon buns. Today is the last day I will be your customer. Today, standing in a line up in your store at 11:25 a.m. (I've always been willing to stand in line at Easter and Christmas), you put your IDrive and Uber Eats orders ahead of the people who were right at your counter. Two overworked employees trying to serve the line with one of them constantly stopping to fulfill online orders. Your employee asked what I wanted, I told her, and suddenly she stopped helping me only to move to an online order. Added to the completely unacceptable customer service today you were "out of stock" on two cakes I asked for, and had no almond croissants or regular croissants on the shelves. In 28 years never have you ever been "out of stock" on two different cakes nor croissants at that time of the day. When I finally got service, the other girl had to go to the back twice to see if you had the cakes I wanted. On try three I got a cake I didn't particularly want but took because I'd had enough. When I asked if there were more croissants the girl looked at the shelf and said no there weren't any at the moment. But since I had the immense pleasure of standing there for so long, I saw trays of croissants (they looked done) being moved around by the bakers in the back. Apparently making three trips to the back for a cake was enough for your employee and she made no effort to check. I understand that Covid took a toll on your business for two years and that food costs are through the roof which is why I've continued to support you despite a big increase to the cost of your baked goods and decline in customer service. If your decision is to recoup lost business by moving to IDrive and Uber Eats, you MUST have the appropriate number of staff at the counter to deal with the people who are standing right in front of you. The day I see online orders be a priority over those at your counter is the day I stop being your customer.

My friend was a loyal customer until NOT due to a measly $12.43!!! I have personally tasted their Almond croissant and it is pretty good, but not worth the embarrassment they have caused my friend. My friend visits this bakery at least once or twice a week. She has been a repeat buyer and talks highly about this place. Today, she had issues with her bank, and the store does not accept credit cards. She asked to e-transfer them instead and I did that for her. We all know bank processing is different for every bank and sometimes can go up to 1 hour! I sent them proof that the transaction is processing. My friend asked if she can take the croissants and just leave her contact info incase it doesn’t go through since she always go back there anyways. The lady said NO and asked her to go back once the money has been deposited!!! My friend had to pick up her kid from school and had no choice. Although this was not my story, it is such a turn off I would never go in this restaurant that do not value and have no trust to their loyal customers at all!! TLDR: Ok food, terrible customer service, not worth going back to.

Went to the place about 2 weeks ago - after some recommendations - it's mediocre at best - the girl helping me was really really nice but her superior or the person training her with the glasses was not helpful at all. The girl helping me was slow at everything, obviously new, but instead of the employees helping her, they were getting in her way, literally blocking her at some points to help the people behind me, telling her to pick up the pace. They literally helped 4-5 people after me while I was waiting to get a baguette and some pastries. 15 minutes just standing there. Lack of teamwork, weirdly competitive.

I’ve been going to this bakery for three years and the quality decline and price increase is very noticeable over time. “My profit has decreased after pandemic”, I get it, I understand you, but please keep your quality. Last time I woke up early to get some fresh croissant and a cake, guess what? They had just a few options right after opening (Why? You’re a bakery!). Ended up purchasing probably a 2- or 3-days old croissant tasting very dull, dry, and hard, and a very mediocre almond croissant. That was the last time for me. As a regular costumer, I can’t stress enough how disappointed I am.

After seeing how highly reviewed this bakery is, we decided to try it out. Yesterday around 4:30 pm we purchased a coffee cake for our dad's birthday. 30$. Ok price for a good in store made cake. We cut up the cake for 4 adults and 2 children. Everyone, including the kids, had one bite and threw the rest out. I don't know if we got a bad one but it was not edible. We tried since it was a birthday cake, but even our dad, who eats anything as to not waste, couldn't eat it. Very disappointed will not be going back. Better off getting a grocery store cake.

Several customers lining up outside with physical distancing in place. Several employees serving customers inside so not much of a wait to be served. Quite busy but the employees seemed very nice. The young fellow who served us was very courteous. The macarons are kept in a refrigerator---$10 for 4. The cakes are expensive but I suppose prices have gone up everywhere--$32 for a mango cake with a diameter of about 8 inches. Bought a mocha cake and a brownie with chocolate ganache--very tasty.

I have always loved this bakery. Today was my first time returning in about 7 years. I purchased 5 pastries and a quiche. I didn’t like that the young lady tried to stuff all my pastries into 1 bag, the sweet and the savoury. I had to stop her as they were all going to be squished which for presentation is a no no. She offered a box but that was going to cost me 50 cents. I settled for separate bags. I spent 45$ there so a box for my pastries was not much to ask for!

Had a Royal Chocolate cake the first time loved it!!. Tried Dark Chocolate cake the next time and it felt like I was having Caramel cake instead. I had asked about dark chocolate cake and was told that this cake would give me a better taste of dark chocolate, unfortunately the caramel triumphs over Chocolate and I couldn't even enjoy it. Next time not buying this one again. Maybe will try another one after I can gather enough courage to try other cakes on whim.

We ordered a St Honoré cake yesterday from Delice Royal . It was incredible if was the best St. Honoré cake. They were very generous with the custard and cream. We have been buying St. Honoré for years, we have tried many, many bakeries in the city. If you are looking for a bakery that makes the best St. Honoré, look no further. Delice Royal has it all, great service, amazing pastries and cakes!!

Lively bakery in quiet community. It was as I expected from a bakery. I love the multi grain loaf and chocolate mousse. Large sélection of breads, croissants (butter, choco, almond, choco almond) cakes, pastries, quiches, mousses, cookies... The door is relatively flush to the ground but no automated door. No washroom Cash or debit to pay. Order ahead if you want something specific.

  • Ross Carroll

Purchased today their Parisienne Chocolate Cake. It looked great as did the others of their wide selection. Sadly looks can be deceiving. A very average cake for $40+, the cream and chocolate were good, the sponge however was disappointing. If I had made it, I would be unlikely to remake. Buying it from a well reviewed bakery, most definitely wouldn’t buy again nor recommend it.

Love this place! I am picky with my desserts and sweets but this bakery is amazing. The chocolate eclairs and cream eclairs are the BEST! My husband and I both love them, I've never had eclairs this good - they are just the right amount of sweetness! The pecan tarts are also delicious. Can't go wrong with anything here! Would definitely recommend!

Operation hours are not like a real bakery. When a place open after 8am and close before 6pm, it's either to late for a breakfast or to soon to buy bread after work. With a different management this place could do much better as it's probably the last authentic bakery in Orleans.

They’ve been well-known in Orleans for years, for good reason! I stopped in to pick up a few treats for mother’s’ day today, and my boys and I picked up a couple of salted caramels for ourselves. Awesome bread and pastries, delicious jams and wonderful savoury pies and quiches. None better in the East end!

  • Giorgio Manasseri

Me and my family really like this bakery. The inside is cute, tiny, neat, and very welcoming. We got the cannoli, pecan pie, petit fours and Belgium bread. Each one were delicious. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend going here and try a bunch some of their desserts.

European baguette, croissant (heat them in oven), tiramisu, and millefeuille sampled were excellent! Definitely worth a trip and let your tummy and taste buds do the trip planning if you happen to pass by, or going to Ottawa. It was our special detour home to Montréal from Ottawa.

  • Roberto Ranieri

Food is good however good luck trying to contact anyone for custom orders. They never answer their phones and their website doesn't seem to have an ordering system. If they modernize their website and allow customers to self serve the experience would be significantly improved.

  • Neda Nabavi

Super expensive. They sell a small frozen cake for 42$. They increased the price by 40% recently and reduced the size of their pastries at the same time! Very unfair combination. I love their pastries but I don’t go there because I don’t want to promote such a business culture!

  • Michelle Gibbs

Ordered a gluten free birthday cake, and it was the best gluten free cake I have ever tried. My daughter was questioning if it was actually gluten free since it was so moist. We got the la Fontaine, the chocolate and caramel combo is perfect. We will be back for more goodies.

  • Noémie Perreault

We always go to Délice Royale for the most delicious cakes & pastries, but this time, we ordered a 3-tiered wedding cake…and it was DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL! We highly recommend ordering from their bakery for your next event, or even just to treat yourself with amazing goods.

  • Daniel Pilon

The croissants leave a lot to be desired... Bought two butter and two almond croissants. They were tiny and expensive, and the texture was all wrong... Not at all what I would expect from a 'French' bakery. The one semi-redeeming factor was the taste, which was decent.

  • Cliff

What a delightful Place. It’s my aunts favorite bakery in Orleans. I dropped by to pick up everyone’s favorite like chocolate croissants, almond croissants, and fruit tarts. All of them were fantastic and I’ll be happy to shop there again on my next visit to Canada.

  • Jiayue Zhan

All I can say is WOW. I went to Délice Royal for the first time today and got the Raspberry Mousse cake and it’s was the most magical cake I’ve had for a long time. The filling. Is incredibly light and scrumptious I could have eaten the whole thing!! …

  • Kader Beneddine

Quality is OK, not the best but was going there for proximity. Lately, prices increased by a lot and pastries size diminished by a lot, terrible combination. I'd rather go downtown where prices might now be similar but size is regular with a better taste.

  • Wennin Chiu

Not sure what the miscommunication is but we purchased fruit flan 2 times and both were made incorrectly. We had requested to remove the glaze on the fruit as we have family that are diabetic, and when we picked it up, it was either sold to

  • Jacynthe Theoret

Purchased a strawberry shortcake for a birthday party and it was amazing. The cake was so light, so fresh and sooo yummy. Everyone was asking me where I purchased it. Thank you Delice Royal for making my mom's birthday party a success!!!!

  • Sam Drey

I am from France and you can trust me when I say Delice Royal makes a great selection of great and delicious pastries, cakes, and croissants. I always buy birthday cakes and the pastries (patisseries) there because they are the finest in

  • Rina Dina

Absolutely delicious. I had the almond croissants and the plain croissants, they are very very tasty. I definitely recommend trying the almond croissant, it almost feels like an almond butter whipped/mousse filling, it's worth a try.

  • sumit bhutani

We ordered a custom cake for our son's first birthday and it was delicious. We gave the order only 4 days before the birthday and they were not only quick to turn around but we amazing in creativity and taste. Life long customer now!

  • Adela Reid

Beautiful little French-style Patisserie with a good choice of cakes and sweets. Careful, sometimes they sell you the cakes frozen which means you need to give it time to thaw, but also means they have most options available.

  • Sebastien Boucher

Looking for small, seriously overpriced pastries? Then look no further than delice royal. These people are in their own personal recession. Never seen such ridiculously priced pastries for the size they are . …

  • Katrina Lapointe

Love this place. We've been buying special occasion cakes from there for years. We've always had amazing cakes! Their breads and quiches are delicious too. I'm glad I live a ways away or else I'd be there wayyyy too often!

  • Alex Côté

It smells amazing when you go in. The service is excellent. I've tried the croissants, fresh bread, mousse, macarons and some pies/cakes. It's all delicious and well worth it. A great place to get yourself a small treat!

  • S G

Our go to bakery for celebration cakes - birthdays, anniversaries, babies - and delicious pastries anytime. The chocolate cakes and fruit flans are great. The chocolate almond croissants are amazing, especially warm.

  • James Mah

We have loved their Italian and Belgian breads for a long time. However, the last two times (most recently yesterday), the texture of the bread was very different and not in a good way. Won't be going back there.

  • Ashley Good

Their desserts look and taste great. They always have a good selection of pastries and their mille feuille as so good! Not a budget friendly place to shop though, only as a treat for special occasions.

  • Sabrina Bond

Delice Royale seems to sell day old product at fresh prices for some of its pastries. I just returned with a pair of chocolate croissants and a lemon pound cake. Both were stale. Not pleased.

  • Heather D

I absolutely love this bakery! I purchased my wedding cake here almost 20 years ago, and love to stop by for their baked goodies. Macaroons and brownies are some of our absolute favourites

  • Landry Zagre

I love this place! 90% of the time the pastries are amazing. I rarely dislike them, unless I get a frozen cake when I clearly asked for one that isn't. Would definitely recommend.

  • Krisa Cunaj

Love the cakes they make here. They are super fresh, light, and guests have always made comments about how good the cake is. The pistachio one is to die for!

  • emma channing

MMMMmmm Fresh Eclairs, Lemon tarts, and Quiche....yes please. Delicious taste of European pastries. Fantastic staff. Highly recommended worth the drive.

  • Azhar

Beautiful deserts. This pistachio cake was awesome. I liked their chocolate cake even more, which was also vegan. Definitely a place to try out.

  • susan s

Service: Five Stars Very friendly, polite and bilingual, as one would expect from a store with a French name in Orléans.

  • Kevin MacKay

Great bakery, lots of cakes and pies, baked dessert etc. Staff were helpful and friendly.

  • Sea Alexa

The pastry was delicious however the tiny, 30 dollar vanilla cake was shamefully dry.

  • Bob

They are a small business, but they sure are the best pastry shop in Ottawa!

  • Brother Ollie

Pretty incredible bakery. Huge variety, and every item is quite delicious.

  • Sunny JG

Been coming here for over 15 years. My favourite bakery in Ottawa.

  • R- A-J

Hard to find a spot Peanut Free, love the croissants and danish’s.

  • Ishpuneet Singh

Just amazing, top notch craftsmanship and bloody delicious.
