Before calling the store or writing a Google Review in regards to the body shaming allegations and the misconduct of an employer, please take a few more minutes of your time to do some research on the subject. In no way do I condone such behaviour in any circumstances. But don't make assumptions after seeing information from only one side of the story. Not only that, but if any of it IS true... shouldn't we be supporting the current employees at this location? It's not on them, nor the store (only the employer). And IF you did your research (or shop here), you can clearly see this is a friendly local business with hardworking employees who only care about your furry friends' wellbeing. If you've made an educated decision and still want to complain, feel free to do so on social media, this is an issue that should be dealt only with the people responsible without harming the innocent. Google Reviews are not made for this, it'll destroy this great locally-owned store. (Consider the source: is the person spreading this information credible? has this previously been tried in their previous jobs/companies...? have you looked any further into her social media...? or have you noticed all the shares/comments this person deleted as soon as they didn't support her "cause"? Have you actually reached out to anyone from the store to see if what you saw was true? or heard their personal experiences as an employee here? did you hear anything negative about this store before all this?) Anyways, consider everyone's side to the story and stay safe.

I would reccomend this place, and the other locations I've gone to. Not once have I had an issue with how they've treated me. I know others who share my opinion. I, nor others except employees, can complain about how they treat staff, and as others have said, there are 2 sides to every story. Unfortunately, most pick a side that coincides with "the little guy must be right, complaining about the big company" without finding out or considering the facts. Interesting too is that all of complaints about fat shaming of employees are all dated the same? Do they have 20 employees we never see that we don't know about? The store wouldn't have that many. Sounds more like a disgruntled former employee that was angry and made a bunch of fake accounts all to say the same thing. Also, how can one complain about their shopping experience when we're not legally allowed in the store? I've called ahead to this and at least 3 other locations based on my activities of the day, and had the exact same experience every time: great friendly, knowledgable staff, that, if they don't have the product you're looking for, suggest alternatives. What more could you ask for in any store? I wish more stores, not just pet stores, were like this. My go to store, and I've tried quite a few in the almost 20 years of rescuing. There are others in my area that are closer that I purposely pass by in order to come here. Completely unrelated, Coco is very cute

I stopped in at this location for some treats for my pup. Generally I shop directly through the supplier. I thought to myself, let’s give them a try. Try and support local. Big mistake. Both cashiers working this evening were rude. The product was directly under a price. I asked about this, and was told yea. It’s not that price. Very rudely. I asked why it is not and asked why I would be at fault for their inability to shelve items where they are suppose to go. I was dismissed and told well this is how it is. I have worked in customer service of one kinda or another for over 17 years. In any business, where I have encountered this issue, the product is given to The customer at the cost seen. As it is not the customers fault something is not where it should be. The 2 employees were so condescending and rude. They have very clearly made the point, it’s not always best to support local of this is what you get. Very disappointed in the service.

Horrible service. My wife and I came Sunday to pick up some dry dog food. We asked the lady who was at the cash for some sample packs, as our dogs are picky eaters. She looked clueless and had no idea what she was doing. She started to give the same food we are purchasing when we told her we didn't want that. She then instead of asking for what we, giving us random food we don't need. She then CHARGED us for the free sample, and over charged us for the bag we paid. We told her that we should get the sample for free. She said it was alright, but still charged us anyways. This lady had no damn clue what she was doing and her customer service skills are abysmal. Try listening to your customer FIRST. I'll NEVER go here again. The Petvalu on Montreal road is better, and they are nicer. Avoid this store at all cost.

Along with Chloé Lagacé’s review, I’m also currently an employee at this store and I would just like advise people to please consider the fact that there are always 2 sides to a story. There is a lot of false information being shared. I just wanted to share my personal experience as an employee, this has always been an amazing job with amazing people. There would not be an entire team of girls still currently working here if the management was disrespectful, I’ve never had any complaints or issues with this job. It’s the best job I’ve ever had, I’ve always wanted to work at a pet store. We truly all just love animals and are here to help pet parents find their solutions

The cashier reluctantly showed me to the section where I apparently would find everything I needed for guinea pigs and left me right away, obviously not available to answer questions. She didn't ask if I required help and whether she could send someone else to assist. Then when I asked for a few questions her answer was that she wasn't familiar with small animals.. She advised me to google the info! What?!!! And she could not answer any questions I had about the products they were selling.. Because she is not acquainted with small animals.. Wow.. Does Pet Valu sell stuff for horses and cows now, so they need to have staff who specialize in big vs small animals?!!!

Worst customer service ever by an employee called Vicky. I never had a problem there in 6 years that I have been buying cat food. Always good mood and great manners except for today. Wow. She rudely accused my 7 year old of stealing without being sure. Instead of asking nicely she just accused and of course my daughter felt humiliated and insisted she didn't do it. And of course she didn't and we did prove it. No apology, instead, defended herself saying that is her job to ask. But she didn't ask just accused. It made me angry. There are always nice ways to ask without accussing. Pathetic.

Good evening, I went to purchase cat treats the other day and I had the worse customer service I’ve ever experience in a retail store with a man working there who’s name is Daniel. I was going to let it go but the more I think about it, the more I know that this type of behaviour is wrong. He was rushing me out of the door, not helping me with my questions and was extremely rude at the cash. If this person stays there, I will make sure to never go in that Pet Valu again as well as warning people about him. This is simply unprofessional and unacceptable.

I was very impressed with Bridgette's customer service today! I had placed an order online for curbside pick-up last night after the store had closed. This morning, I called the store as soon it opened and explained to Bridgette that my cat was sick and refusing to eat any of the food at home and asked if she could rush my order. She was extremely empathetic and informed me that she understood how stressful it was to have a sick cat and got my order ready within 5 minutes. Her kindness and compassion completely made my day during a difficult time!

Hi I'm with the group of people calling to have the manager removed that held someones pay and then sent a mean note about their body along with the e-transfer Nobody should be called fat girl man its 2021 dont you realize you can't do that.. have you never been on the internet? Let me know when the monster has been removed from the establishment i find that kind of behavior absolutely disgusting and I encourage no one to shop or bring pets here.. who knows who he will insult next hes clearly out of control.

I want to start by saying I haven’t had a personal bad experience at this store. However, if the allegations are true that the owner treated an employee bad because she wanted to take a break (which you are legally supposed to allow when you work a certain amount of hours) and sent her a fatphobic response after she quit then I would highly recommend customers spend their money elsewhere. I don’t tolerate bullying or mistreatment of employees, and I don’t want to support a business that does.

There was a lot of confusion when I returned a bag of cat food that my cat didn’t like. They have an open bag policy where you can return bags of food if your pet doesn’t like it. It seemed like they refunded me for the cat food but charged me double on the new bag. I still don’t get it. The employees seemed to be in some sort of fugue and couldn’t help me. I called the main office and was helped by a very nice woman.

Excellent place to go shopping with your furry pet. The staff is very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly + my dogs love the free cookies ! The store is well kept, clean and organised thanks to the hard work of the staff members. I trust them 100% when I have to make a choice of food or teeth hygiene for instance. Plus there is a lot of choice and there is always A LOT of toys and treats in stock!

I went in yesterday to get my chihuahua some boots. It is always a struggle because everything falls off his tiny paws. I've probably spend over $200 trying to find something to work over the last 2 years. The young man at the checkout suggested getting socks and the paw balloons for my dog and they are working better than anything else I've had and I am super grateful. Thanks young blonde man!

To the person saying they witnessed the manager berating the said employee, I find it funny you did as the store was actually only offering curb side pickup at the time and was therefore closed. It also seems you live in the states. Even if this situation were true, this doesn't affect the knowledge and expertise of the other staff who are only there to help customers and their pets.

My first experience with Pet Valu was during Covid, so take it with a grain of salt since these were not “usual” conditions. Staff was friendly and they found what I needed in short order, since we were in a lockdown. My only knock against is that there wasn’t a better system for the pickup, which resulted in a bit of a lineup outside.

Used to love shopping here and was happy for the dog bathing stations. Sadly the store thinks it is ok to keep live fish confined to minuscule containers for sale. This cruelty disgusts me and everyone I spoke to about this. In 2019 this cruelty is unacceptable and completely unessary. Please do the right thing snd stop this abuse now.

Love this place ! So convenient for many things ! You can go and wash your dog any time you need to ! Is very spacious and clean and treats for your dog while you wash them ! Staff are helpful and very kind ! They have many clothes and toys for dogs . Plus you can go a visit Coco ! This adorable parrot that lives in the store !

It is a nice store. I purchase cat food there. I feed my cat the Ultra Performance brand and also the BFF wet food. It seems to be priced reasonably. Their monthly treat is also nice. I look for the freeze dry and the Greenies. I have a pet value card, which is free, and for every 12 bags, I believe, I get a free one.

I love Pet Valu but unfortunately I do not find some of the staff at the Beechwood location to be overly helpful. Perhaps they have not been well trained but several times I have dealt with employees who did not know about certain specials or discounts, and did not seem to be concerned about it.

Good selection of items for all pet needs, along with a in store dog washing location. Staff in store are always helpful and friendly. Recently had Freddie go above and beyond with helping me track down a dog harness that was out of stock, with really attentive and exceptional customer service.

This Pet Valu might not be the largest store but what it may lack in size, it gains in customer service. We have 5 pets therefore we tend to drop in consistently and the staff is always very friendly and extremely helpful. If a product is not available, they will gladly order it for you.

Been a customer for years at this store and I’m surprised that the one time I ask to return something I get turned down. Spending my money at a different franchise moving forward. Franchise owners gets reimbursed by the parent company for returns, no need to lie to customers about that.

We brought our dog there for the first time to use their bathing facilities. The staff was very helpful and the bathing setup is very well done. We forgot to bring his brush, but everything else was supplied including shampoo, towels, blower, and scented spray for his coat.

We have two big dogs and come to wash them every so often, and it's always a great experience. Freddy is always so kind, helpful and friendly. Knowledgeable about products and dogs, and he genuinely loves animals. Can't find a better place to bring our dogs for a clean.

Do not support this location. The management practices are poor and they discriminate against employees. It is illegal to not allow employees proper breaks even with 4 or 5h shifts. The rating is skewed since they have their own people writing 5 star reviews.

I live downtown and it’s really hard to find pet supplies! (Future business idea?). I found Pet Valu in Beechwood through a Google search and they didn’t disappoint. The rabbit I was babysitting was a very happy girl with new hay, pellets and chew treats.

Got the perfect pillow mat and nail grinder for my golden here. Love this place, it’s professional, clean and also very refreshing to see staff who enjoy their work. The big shampoo station for dogs is such a good idea and very useful.

I do not know what I would do without the 10$ self wash stations. My rottweiler hates water but he can't escape when he's tied up to a metal bar in one of the big tubs. Also keeps my own bathtub from getting all scratched up.

Betta fish are not ornaments. They are wild animals who live in large expanses of water. Not in one liter plastic bowls! Show respect for life and don't sell wildlife!
