I had the misfortune of interacting with the groomer, Mayra, recently. It’s possible that Mayra was having a bad day. It’s also possible that Mayra is generally unhappy, hates her job, hates people, or any combination of these things. Whatever it is, she should be kept somewhere in the back, away from the humans. During both drop off and pick up, Mayra spoke to me condescendingly, treated things that I told her about my dog as lies, made assumptions about my knowledge of how to care for my dog, and my understanding of dog behavior in general. Well, Mayra, my field of study was actually animal behavior and cognition, so, surprise, I know that “dogs are actually smart.” I also know that bringing my senior dog to the groomer more frequently will not, in fact, solve the issue that is her anxiety. She already goes 3x a year. In addition to her truly awful attitude, Mayra didn’t cut my dog’s hair how I asked her to. I showed her a picture of how I like her ears and face cut, and Mayra completely ignored that and handed me a dog that looked like Lord Farquaad - specifically what I asked her not to do. My dog was done with her bath and cut in under 90 minutes. If Mayra had perhaps taken her time, she could have paid better attention to detail and actually made the customer happy! I have a feeling though, that she never intended to do more than the bare minimum. So, along with being a miserable person to have to interact with, Mayra is not very good at following direction. Mayra, you work with dogs, yes, but you also work with the people who care about those dogs. Do a better job, or get a different one.

I had an 8:30AM appointment. Unfortunately I was unable to be seen because VETCO, was not open and never sent the records. I asked if there was walk ins and I was I informed “no” by stylist Mayra. I waited until after 9AM to see if they could send the records to the Yahoo email used at PetCo, I approached Mayra, she said “I can’t see you” I asked if she could check if VETCO sent over the records, they did, and Maura shared a copy at around 9:30AM. I still never did get a copy from VETCO. While I was waiting I heard a young lady bragging to another person costumer about them doing walk-ins. The young lady said “yeah, I was told to just show up, Mayra is my brothers girlfriends sister, and she said just come in whenever I want”. I witness the other costumer leave, and the girl engage with Mayra. They spoke about how they haven’t seen each other and how the girl came from DC. Mayra received the girls dog. Upon me exiting I asked the girl “Hey, did you have an appointment.” The girl repeated no, “I just showed up”. I was unaware that there is preferential treatment to the family members of the people’s boyfriends and their sisters. I asked a male employee at the other check out register who reported “they have their own system and contact a manager tomorrow”. Please explain why I couldn’t be seen for walk in due to a lapse in VETCO communication vs the sister of Mayra’s sisters boyfriend. This young lady also did not present vaccination nor did she check into the computer. This was at 9:42AM.

Stock is never accurate, done online orders where it states it has the item and then they cancel part of the order which then affects the promo tied with it. Barely have the basic items like a name brand cat litter or food. Staff is trying their best but severely understaffed and just can’t handle the complaints. Always just one cashier so there’s always a line. Now they’re suppose to be a hub for happy returns and Amazon returns but they are lacking the inventory to do them and cause just another headache. Came in on Saturday for a return, told me to come back Monday, but wait they could do happy returns but not Amazon but the cashier never specified. So many Amazon ppl were rejected for returns due to lack of labels which I can’t understand why they couldn’t reach Amazon and get it sent to them via prime delivery. Just had so many headaches and frustration. Be sure to call them to see if the inventory and services are accurate before making your way there.

I really wish I could leave 0 stars. We have been to this petco in the past, but this was the 2nd time for grooming. One of the first appts at 8 am, it seemed like the groomer was also working the desk so my dog was just kept in the back for most of the time, as I never even saw him on the table with a groomer. He left very upset, shedding worse than before he went, water still in his ears. They did not trim the hair under his paws, or brush him. Upon coming home he was acting very sick later that day and slept for the better part of the next 2. Turns out, he actually pinched a nerve / hurt his back from the experience and now is on 2 medications thanks to to a rush trip to the animal hospital in FH, who thankfully helped us identify this. Avoiding this groomer at all costs in the future and will only bring him to douglaston petco. Very disappointed.

They wasted my time and money because he was healthy. The doctor or the people who are receiving the animals are giving the wrong diagnosis and it is quite serious. Just seeing the doctor who received the cat sitting with his cell phone and with the worst attitude. Or I don't know if he just said it to get out of. I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else and I don't recommend that place.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Highly disappointed. I took my dog here for last minute grooming because the other Petco was booked for the rest of the month. I heard some negative stuff about this location but hey i took a chance, should of went with my gut and reviews. An hour after dropping my dog off they call me saying i need to pick up my dog because she is very afraid of the dryer. Therefore could not give her a haircut. I stated how come the other Petco, where she originally gets her haircut is able to do it and youre not? They proceeded to say its because of the tables and shes big and bla bla bla. As professional groomers your are suppose to be capable or find solutions to work around it. I got the vibe that it was too much for them. I do not recommend this place very unprofessional. Not competent

I took my 4 months old puppy to get a trim and nail cutting. We were looking through the window and noticed she left with my pup and came back took a paper towel to clean one of her paws. We though it had been from nail bleeding. I noticed my puppy had a cut on her little foot. The blond haired lady noticed but decided to lie to me and her co-worker that she didn’t notice the cut. When she did because I was there to see that. Not did they only scape my pups foot but the cut one of the nails very bad. She came out bleeding because of both those things, the scrape and the bad nail cut. They are so unprofessional and such liars!!!! My puppy looks the same and the hair trim from her feet is very bad and uneven! This is so unfair my puppy was hurt twice!

I've had my dog groomed there about 10 times and this is the 1st time that I am disappointed with it. The reason for the disappointment is because Diana the groomer did a poor job in his cut. When upon arrival I was asked by her how would I like his cut and when I chose to have him cut real close which is the lowest she said that they don't really recommend it. So I explained to her that the reason why I will like that cut for him is because his hair grows really fast. Now a week later it shows that she didn't cut him the way I asked because his hair is already growing out which is something I never had to deal with in the past. On top of that I even gave her a $10 tip thinking that she did a good job when I picked him up.

We go to this Petco location regularly and have always had a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they always give our dachshund love, attention, and cookies! The groomers in particular stand out for their care, friendliness, knowledge, and skill. Years ago we took our dog to a different groomer and had a less than stellar experience, but once we met Rubi at Petco, we were hooked! Our dog adores her and it's clear that she loves him too. She always gives him a fantastic cut and is able to capture his personality in her work, and most importantly we know that he is safe and happy when he is with her. Our dog is a part of our family, so we only want the best for him, and Rubi truly is the best!

Do not take your dog here if he is medium to big. First, they do not use razors or shave at all. Will only trim. But the main problem started when the groomer called me 10 minutes after drop off to come pick my golden retriever back up because he was being "too aggressive". I assure you that this dog is 6 years old and has never shown aggression in his life. He gets nervous sometimes and may bark or pull on his leash but that is all. When I asked what made him upset she said his nails then when I questioned it she changed her answer to the blow dryer but I got my dog back without completely untouched so there's no way that she even put him near a bow drier or trimmed his nails. I will never go back here.

The girls today was rude and are seemed to be very lazy to their jobs. They not approachable we want to ask more questions but you can sense that they are not willing for further more inquiries so we just left the stuff and did not purchase at all. My item has been cancelled and I just want to know more information but they prefer to talk to their workmates. And I find that service very disappointing. I notice that happens often to this branch. Please orient your employees right. I am trying this location many times but the cashier girlies just giving attitude like that. Everytime.

DO NOT go here for grooming. We asked for a teddy bear cut for our two shih tzu (same as the first picture) and this is what we got. We asked to keep the pony tail and back tail long and they shaved them all down. They even cut their long lashes when they are not supposed to. SO DISSAPOINTED! The young staff are not properly trained for dealing with puppies. You have to have patience and they don’t. First picture was their first cut at a different place and we wanted the same. They over charge just to shave our puppies. Not nice my dogs are traumatize.

Really wish I could give it a 0 because they did a terrible job to my baby Mia like the guy won’t cares less about it terrible; my puppy she’s is still pup they have to understand she moves a lot and the guy is like oh no miss we can’t groom your dog because she won’t stand still like that’s your job and mostly the manger comes saying we won’t charge you for anything like I don’t know who is the owner or manger but who is the doing this job YALL doing terrible really terrible and I had to take my puppy home

Wow! I literally called just to ask if they still carried a certain brand of cat food for my very ill, very picky cat and spoke to the most surly human being I've ever spoken to (and I work in customer service). It sounded as though I had asked her if she ate babies. Like pure disgust and venom from the initial hello. Also there is no way she knew off the top of her head if that brand was carried by the store-she definitely didn't look. She said no quicker than she ate her last baby.

Terrible experience with the Vet Office inside this morning. Whole staff on their phones, heads down, very rude and won’t help patrons. Asked if I could have a prescription for my cat and was told they don’t start work until 10 AM it was 9:59 AM. They shut door in my face as I asked politely. Customer service needs to be addressed with this very young staff who think the clients work for them. I won’t be coming back anymore because of this!

I’m so disappointed! Wasted 400$ for my dog’s training on this place. The trainer Daniel was so irresponsible. I paid for privet 1 hour lessons and every training he spent only about 20-30 minutes with my dog, The rest of the time he was busy with his phone. He was not interested to tech dog something and he wasn’t involved in a processed at all, every time he had an excuse the dog is not in a right mood. Highly not recommend

9/24/2023 Brought our dog in for a nail clipping, and we were clear that's the only service we wanted. Yes, they offered the bundled service, which we declined. Without asking us first, they did a nail buffing that we didn't request, in order to tack on an extra $13 to the bill. That's the kind of shady practice you expect from a mechanic in an alleyway, not from a pet groomer in a busy shopping center.

Guys be careful when u return ur items at this store since they don’t provide u a receipt.. ur items will get lost .. when u go to this petco store to ask what happen to the items I have returned.. they will tell u .. don’t worry Amazon will refund ur money wich it’s not okay.. I suggest if u don’t have an option and u really have to return ur items here take a picture of ur returnable items ..

They advertise that they accept Amazon returns. But I got turned away because they ran out of labels. This is a basic inventory check to avoid a service lapse. Super annoyed that I lugged everything there only to bring it back home with me along with everyone else in line. They also couldn't give me a date on when they will be receiving labels.

A very nice place. From what it seems. It looks to have all the necessary needs for pets. Oh and the cookie with the creme in the middle is quite good. Try it you'll see. Its actually a regular cookie. One problem as with all Petco. One person the register. It is kinda expected from all that I went to. Again a great place to go

They have everything more for dogs than cats but you can find pretty much anything you get on Amazon or Chewy. Placing an order online and picking it up is super fast and easy. After ordering online, it took about half an hour for my pickup to be ready. Love to have this store in the neighborhood.

Always out of everything here. All the food is still on palettes waiting to be stocked. Young guy who works there doesn’t know or about what you’re asking. True some staff are good but depends who’s on that shift when you go. Loooong waits at checkout. Ugh. Better Petco at Metropolitan Ave

I went here in order to buy the aquarium and since this was my first time I had no idea what to get. Their staff Claudia helped us a lot and assisted with all the important materials needed. She is knowledgeable and answered all the queries we had. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I made an appointment for my puppy with the vet at 4:55pm through the app, they sent me lots of text messages to confirm the appointment, and when I got there they told me it was closed. Wow I don't understand why they set appointments 5 minutes before they close. It's ridiculous

This is absolutely unacceptable. I went to petco today to check what kind of reptiles they have and I walk over to the chameleon tank and this is what I see. A dead young chameleon. Clearly petco doesn’t take care of their animals and they can’t even clean up the poor thing.

Great place to get all your pet needs except for a few items that could be gone for a while. They don't restock as often because people don't purchase in bulk when coming here. Love the people that work here. She helped find things for my new kitten.

I find it horrible how the price that is scanned is not the same as the online price and unless you are aware you won’t get the lower price. I was going to pay 50% more on an item if I didn’t tell the cashier to match my online price.

Reservations can be made online. Choose according to your own time. can park your car in the Costco parking lot. There are restaurants and shopping malls nearby to visit. very convenient. The dog is very happy

Decent amount of stock for your pets. Sometimes they won't have a certain brand I favor but eventually they restock. Good customer service and mostly get my pet needs met here.
