Philip Bacon has spent a generation cementing his place in the Australian art market, grooming the market both from the perspective of the artists and the top end buying public. The schedule of artists lined up to exhibit in his Fortitude Valley gallery includes masters passed and present. In his environment, art is shared eloquently, expertly, carefully, and because of this, artists and the gallery reap the rewards, with high-end prices at sale and hefty commissions earnt. Still, if you are in that market, or if you just want to participate in a fancy opening, with State Premiers and Governors General often in attendance, the Philip Bacon Gallery is one venue where you could spend a Saturday afternoon.
Super cute art gallery! The natural lines and textures of building materials used on this building accentuates the art on display. Beautiful ornate ceiling moldings have been preserved in the downstairs area of the gallery which I find to be charming and delicately incorporated into the decor. and furnishings. Natural flow of lighting and reflections from windows create a classical feel to the gallery and does not distract from the focal points throughout. Clean straight lines to various wooden components give a contemporary feel and get me excited for any future exhibitions.
Great place to pop in for a nice art show, free of charge and unlike GOMA and Queensland Art Museum you know how much the price of art is actually worth. I sore a Margret Ollie collection up for sale here and she was an amazing painter.
This is a Gallery, that everyone who lives in Brisbane should visit at least once in their life. High quality paintings and sculpture seduce your visual senses, and if you are an art lover as I am . . . once isn't enough.
A fairly big space, seems to specialise in landscape paintings. Not particularly edgy artwork, but there are usually a few nice things on display.
More than happy for you to come in and look around. Over 2 levels the work is of a high quality and always interesting.
Always the best standard in professional presentation making every visit an exceptional experience.
A lot of very high quality Australian artworks on sale. Most enjoyable way to spend forty minutes.
Even if you only have 10-15 mins , take a break and have a wonder through , you never regret it
