ORDERED: Phở Bò Đặc Biệt / Rice noodle soup with special beef in Medium size ($16.00) Chè Ba Màu / Vietnamese Three Colour Dessert ($6.00) REVIEW: Decent pho place. Pho Chu The has survived against the intense competition in Footscray, so you know there must be a thin thread of value. Pho Bo Dac Biet is my favourite. It gives you different variety of beef so you're not just having one type of beef in the bowl. The broth was a little oily and bland when I had it, but my cousin swears that it's usually better (less oily). My cousin is a regular who goes at least once a month. What's nice is that Pho Chu The offer you the choice to have your beansprouts raw, or to have them slightly boiled so they're a bit softer. Getting it boiled and slightly pliable is definitely the way to go - I find that it gets rid of the harsh peppery taste. Service was very casual. Served by a young boy, he also forgot our drink order even when he confirmed it twice before walking away. We had to follow up midway through our meal, but that's no big deal. The Che Ba Mau was a perfect way to finish off my meal. Adds the perfect amount of sweetness to leave me satiated. Bring cash!

It's my second time to have Pho here. I love the noodles and the service when I came here first time (last April). This time, the waitress with short hair and glasses was so rude to push us to order quickly when we just sat down. She said 'nothing special, just chicken and beef'. She asked us about 'boiled or fresh veggies', then she went away directly cause I took 3 seconds to think about. When she served food to another table, she put the tray on our table and gave the bowls to that table one by one. We were so shocked, we do not know if the owner knows he or she hired staff like this.

Update Nov 2020: They are still open, thankfully! They've rearranged the tables to allow distancing. So obviously, less seatings. However, the restaurant is a bit quiet. Food is still good and, due to covid, the cutleries, cups, and condiments are removed from tables. If you order takeaways, the noodles / soup/ toppings / condiments are all separated. So you don't have to worry of soggy noodles! Original: One of the best Vietnamese beef noodle soups (I havent tried the chicken soup base) and my regular go-to place. They also sell stew beef (come with either bread roll or noodle. Bread is my recommendation). Price is around $11 - 15.
Had a lovely pho here! Noodles were beautifully cooked. Broth was good. Vegetables fresh, with tasty meats. The servings were generous with a choice of 3 sizes.Tea was lovely and the servers were tolerant and efficient. My kids loved it to! The place is cosy to the point of being a little cramped, but that's all part of the fun of getting some pho in footscray. Price was perfect!

Chicken Pho
Hands down the best pho anywhere in the west. If you’re in Footscray don’t bother with the other pho restaurants. Head straight here, the bowl you’ll be served is like mums home cooked. Generous with the servings and meats. 9.3/10 It’s a very small store so there could be a line but it moves fast. It’s a get in eat and leave kinda restaurant.

Amazing Pho restaurant. One of the best I've been to. - Platter of bean sprouts, lemon, onion, etc was very generous - Service was quick and easy - Good variety of sauces and Hoisin sauce was excellent - Pho was very tasty and very generous with the amount of beef Just a little thing I noticed was that the table was a bit too high.

7.9/10 pho I came a few months ago and really enjoyed their pho. It definitely is one in the top 5. Broth does not make you thirsty afterwards like places that overuse msg. 2nd time I came back the proportions were way less for the noodles and the beef. Was disappointed in that. Soup was still amazing. Prices have increased to the medium bowl about $15. This now seems to be the price for pho today.

Love this place! You know that you are onto the real thang when 1) hordes of Asians are slurping noodles at 11:30am 2) they only do one thing there: chicken or/and beef pho, no spring rolls no nothing fancy 3) there herbs are super fresh. I had their pho tai nam which is rare beef and brisket noodles while kiddo had the chicken and beef combo, both delish. Will be back again
Had pho here the other night and it was pretty good. I liked the option of fatty sliced meat. The broth was clean and flavoursome. I liked how they also gave onions as a condiment, although I don't think it was the pickled kind.

Had the Special Beef pho (large) on the weekend. High quality ingredients and very generous portion. Good mix of rare beef, brisket, beefballs, tripe and fat. Flavoursome broth and the fresh cut chilli on the table was nice and hot too. I went in with a big appetite and the large bowl was very filling. Thinking about my next visit soon. Highly recommended!
Meat is fresh and tender, broth is naturally tasty doesn’t make you sick. But you need to hold on to your bowl, if you let go they take it straight away.

Sadly not as good as it once was. Seems like some millenial has tried to renovate and streamline the business... Special pho missing authentic ingredients it used to have, less condiments and the place is run by a bunch of rude young men. Its also more expensive. More
There’s Pho and then there’s Pho. This place is definitely the latter. Considering it’s always packed with Vietnamese locals every time I’ve eaten here, you can easily infer that this little restaurant delivers the best bowl of hot
Our bowls came out quickly and steaming hot. The Small size was more generous than I thought it would be, I can’t imagine how big the large is but glad they have that option for bigger appetites too. The Small was plenty for us.
Special beef pho is great! If you order special chicken pho make sure you eat entrails.

I come to eat my favorite beef and chicken combination pho when I back to Melbourne every time. I like the soup is clear with light taste. By the way, don’t forget to taste the iced black or white coffee.
Best in the west! If u want attentive service where they treat u like u giving them a good tip then go somewhere else if u want the best Pho then go here. Walk in sit down order eat get out. More
First venue I have been to where there are so many pho options. Also love that it’s available in 3 different sizes. Thought the pho was delicious and definitely hit the spot on a cold day.
The soup is very delicate, yet flavourful and multilayered. We're used to a stronger and darker soup, but this was still really good!

Good quality pho. The place is dated but has a traditional Vietnamese restaurant charm. I highly recommend wiping the cutlery prior to using them as they can still feel oily.
Tasty overall. Personally I find their meat slices are better quality than most with less chewy softer texture, but the soup lukewarm and broth flavour mild.
Rich broth, generous portions and is open during the day for pho take away during lockdown. Would 100% recommend, one of the best pho places in Footscray!!
Here is where you get the rare beef + brisket - for once the beef actually comes out rare!! They only serve pho so you know it's the real deal. More
Very nice taste of this vietnamese pho restaurant. They only serve pho in beef or chicken, and taste was really good
Good pho place in central Footscray, very popular with locals. Quick and friendly service, tasty pho. More
Tasty pho. good portion. good price (the big bowl is 17$ and its huge). nice chilly dipping.
