I am a regular client to the pick n pay Centre , usually love going grocery shopping there , for me and my family . However I must say , the great service that I receive from the shopping center , I don’t receive from the liquor store . There is constantly One lady in particular at the liquor store , who is forever bickering behind the till , never greets , pulls her face , and has serious attitude problems . And makes rude sarcastic remarks . Experienced that today with her the afternoon and I went in back again the evening to make a complaint to the manager . The rude cashier Says to me , she doesn’t know what is the big deal on her making her rude remark , that she was simply just making a statement . However it’s my second Time experiencing similar scenario with this one particular cashier . She never greets , and is constantly talking loud behind the till , and always impatient . I would just like to tell the Pick n pay Liquor management , to please caution their cashier, as the stinking attitude she displays is disgusting , unprofessional and unethical . I’ve never had any issues at the pick n pay Centre or their liquor store before . But disrespectful, rude behavior is unacceptable. Please train your staff , to be more polite and most of all respectful to customers .
Pick n Pay on Darwin, has by far been my worst shopping experience. The check out points are unorganised and the staff are unfriendly and work slow. The staff are dressed very untidy & are unhelpful. The worst part of it all is the products ! Pick n Pay on Darwin's prices of their products is priced higher than all of the other pick n Pay stores that I have shopped at, yet their products are not up to standard. I bought a pack of chicken wings, which was packed a day before I bought it, it was not expired but when I opened the cling wrap the smell was disgusting, I do not like being wasteful with food as poverty is high in our country but I had to. I let this slide and continued to shop there as it is the closest store to my home. My husband then brought garlic roll from the store and it was not expired according to the expiry date however the garlic roll was so old that it had mould all over it. My husband also purchased milk on that day and when I opened it, it was off, however the expiry date did not show that. I definitely will not be going back there at all.
Since it is a franchise I like and has most products you would shop for day to day it is convenient. There is however much room for improvement on the fresh food merchandising side, checking the freshness of stock everyday. We have bought off chicken past expiration date 2x to date. The specials rarely reflects on the system and is too often a case where you need to call a manager to override or check the shelf price. Be sure to check your receipt every time. The delli is almost permanently unoccupied so you have to wait for someone to notice you or call a staff member to actually go and get the person who is serving at the cold meats counter. Other than that, the staff is quite friendly. As I said, to shop close to home is convenient so for that reason it is fairly okay.
I just love this store. Everything inside draws your attention and makes you linger inside for longer than necessary. The Smart Shopper card always adds value to your shopping, giving you the extra surprise of a discount, adding even more value to your shopping basket. The store Manager is also always there with a friendly smile and greeting, giving more value to the term 'Family'. When you leave the store, you look back, and like reading through a love story, you smile with satisfaction. The kind of store where you dont need to buy anything to be satisfied. You just have to walk through the isles and appreciate what you see. The label reflects the name perfectly: Pick n Pay Family Store. Now thát ... is Pick n Pay on Darwin, Kraaifontein.
Several times I found that price advertised or on shelf label is not the same. I have a voice impairment and for me to try and explain to the staff is like a goose on the loose. They stare at me. Then I either pay the price because I really need it or walk out. Today I bought Dunhill cigarettes. The price on the shelf -R40.00. When I got home the slip reflected R53.00. Please check this overall price reflections in your shop. I had an incident with yoghurt as well. Luckily a lady (with lots of patience) overheard me and helped me to explain to staff. I might be 1 in 10 000 customer that experienced this, but if 1 customer tells 10 future customers it could become a problem
I live within walking distance from pick n pay kraaifontein, that's why I've always supported them. After the last few days I will rather get in my car and drive to spar.Firstly the bakery, I ask them to check if they have raw dough and in a rude way gets told no stock even tho they didn't go check, Cashiers in both the liquor store and the main store don't care to let you wait while they have conversations. Get to the kiosk and biltong stand and you wait again as nobody is behind the counter. Worst experience ever, only giving 1 star because i don't have the option to give less. Pick n pay kraaifontein won't see me again.
The bakery new management is a disaster at the Kraaifontein store. Been there more than 5 times, including contacting the store to place an order. The bakery supervisor named Nico , he is never available also not returning a client's calls when a number is left. Or he is on Tea, lunch or are off for the day. For the ladies who pick up the calls and met me in person thanks for your assistance. What a way to run a bakery when you would like to order stock in bulk from them. A few years back a lady ran that bakery just to say you are severely missed that good customers service was there then but not anymore.
Since Pick n Pay on darwin was established myself and my family has been loyal daily customers and we love the store because it is convenient however some of the staff is unfriendly and unprofessional and the price tags /labels are majority of the time incorrect. When i addressed the issue several times it has become a norm of its "that woman again " the environment just makes me feel uncomfortable. Check and re-check labels to avoid inconvenience. Hats off and a warm thank you to the staff that always goes and extra mile. You are appreciated.
I have downgraded the Family store franchise of PnP as their pricing is not on par with the industry and most items are more expensive than anywhere else. I specifically took some pictures of their meat pricing - through the roof! Does anyone think removing the skin which is easy to do warrants a price of R30 and more per kg? If these prices are indicative of supplier costs, then it is worthwhile shopping elsewhere. R115/kg for 'Boerewors' when you can get the top of the range Championship one at Checkers for R110/kg?
Don't be fooled by the average rating for this store. - Their prices are continually higher than most supermarkets in the area. - On the shelf pricing on specials are different at the till. (Check your slip) - Some staff just lack basic customer service skills which is no big surprise as management come short in this area as well. - Bakery had good items at the start but since has dropped the standard drastically. And don't dispute anything with them, all you get is cold stares and suspicion. Dreadful.
Very convenient... and has all the essentials... one problem I have is that 9 out of 10 times there is nobody at the fruit and veg counter and the deli counter... then you end up standing around for quite some time waiting... I once walked in, put tomatoes in a bag and waited short of 5 minutes to get it weighed, I then left it on the scale did the rest of my shopping and came back and it was still on the scale.. and that was after like 15-20 mins easy... maybe more. I then went home without tomatoes.
This is or was my family store where i use to do all my shopping, this is the second time that the till supervisor was called after myself and the tresurer went and checked out the prices on the shelf, saw that the items were marked what I insisted to pay, afterwards I was told the price was for a smaller package. I then told the supervisor if that is your attitude then keep all your stuff, and I walked out very, very unhappy, after changing from another supermarket to Pick a Pay.
I would like to thank all staff members of Pick n Pay Kraaifontein. Yesterday I got sick whilst shopping and all the staff and a few customers as well, came to my rescue! The staff had taken such good care of me during recovery. I really appreciate all their efforts and concerns out of the depths of my heart!!!! Whoever employed the current staff should be proud of choosing good-hearted people. I am glad to know that people like those staff members still exist xoxo Thank you!
Old hands has the niche. Scouring ques which came to a stand still. Did not get her name, her calm and well trained handle of the pile ups were quickly dissolved. Security at door with sanitiser, thumbs up. Not only sprayed hands, but on request helped me with spraying sanitiser on cloth to "wash the hands and arms" of my grandson, fetched from crèche. Only a grandfather would do it with a smile. Thank you. Great service to you both. Not just doing their "Jobs"
This is the most disappointing Pick n Pay for me probably in the whole of Cape Town. Sub par produce that looks old especially in the fruit n veg section. No stock of most items. Practically no braai section. I had to look elsewhere for that. I can only compliment the butchery department. The meats are not too bad with a wide variety. Other than that you are probably better off at a local superette or if you have no other choice.
Never enough tellers at peak times, are always slow and have no sense of customer service. Management is never around and the experience I had with management when they were needed was disgusting. Very frustrating. Shockingly poor and inefficient service from staff at all levels. Never even basically satisfied with stock and variety for the stores size. Worst store in the area. Don't be fooled by average rating.
The Darwin branch is close to my home, convenient, clean and well managed. The staff is always friendly and I cannot complain about service. I would give them 4x stars but unfortunately the bakery leaves much to be desired..example I bought a banana loaf which tasted like normal cake and last week I bought cream doughnuts which tasted like mint and created an itch in my mouth and not only mine, my wife as well.
You are seriously losing valuable clients PnP! This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that I had to return stale products. Wish you were more apologetic and perhaps you should take a leaf out of Checkers' book. Not only do they refund, but also provide the replacement product for free! My time and fuel is valuable but you dont seem to get it. Not impressed with management at your Kraaifontein PnP!
I had just recently had a small discrepancy at Pick n Pay which I brought to their attention. I was later called by Waylin who attentively listened to my version of events. He said he would address the matter. He then called me back to tell you has resolved the matter and acquired what I needed. Waylin went over and above the call of duty. An ambassador for the brand. Well done
My go to store either before or after work or for a quick snack or luxury item . A walking distance from my house. Staff are extremely friendly no long queues. My favorite item to buy is the 'koeksisters with coconut' omg those are amazing always fresh ,real good taste. As much as I love banana loaf I have to drive to Spar for that 1 . Your B.L doesn't taste too great
The 4 stars is more related to the operation hours which is very convenient. The shop is somewhat small in comparison to what you would expect, but most of the time you are able to find what you are looking for. The store is also very well managed. Most of the time when it's full then you would see them open up additional pay point to assist customers faster.
I always get the best and friendly service from both security and cashiers in the store. The size of the store gives it a certain personal shopping experience because you not always bumping into someone in the aisle or blocked trolleys. So definitely recommend it. I still go to the same store till this day. And the biltong is some of the best I've ever had.
NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! Second time buying meat there thats off. Phoned their customer line to inform them. The attitude was shocking. Didn't even bother to ask what meat it was or anything very disgustsed. Dont even deserve the one star. Not even offering to replace it or anything. We won't support this Pick & Pay ever again!!!!!!
Happy to have a pick n pay closer to home but i find that the quality of meat and bakery goods not as good as other pick n pays in the area, especially the chicken. Often i have arrived to find no chicken breasts or when there are then they have a funny smell. I am then more keem to drive to a pnp a little further away such as Pinehurst.
We bought some wago Patties at the Pick and Pay, R120 for 4 patties. Do youself a favour and try this. On a braai you cook the patties to medium and let it lay next to the fire for 5min. This has been the best Patties I have had in 2022. It's pitty as I live in Strand and can't get my hands on these patties every weekend.
This is a quick answer if you live near and do not whant to go far for bread and milk. Youbwil get the basics and a few other things there but not every thing you might need for some specific dish you need to prepare. They are quite a bit more expensive with most of their products compared to other shops close by.
Very good layout of store. However, customer services could be improved. The fresh food, deli, bakery and conventional meals could do with a huge upgrade as there is a lack in this department. The PnP is situated in the most perfect location and makes it easy for residents to quickly pop in and pop out.
I went in to look at battery prices, saw it was expensive. Placed it back and walked out. The security stopped me and made as if I took it, even to walking with me to the car to check. Very inappropriate service and I always go their. Service delivery when it comes to customers are bad.
There is nice customer services. I was short of R1 the other day, forgot the shopping card . The cashier calmed me down and was patient for me. Made the situation better because she was not like"next customer please". She helped me to find other alternatives and went that day happy❤❤.
No range in meats. And Butcher never around when you need something specific. Also alot of meat is expired on the shelves. Also never have my preference in cigarettes and claim that they the only store that doesnt recieve. Wish it was a spar rather. That way it would be better managed
This is a convenient Pick n Pay, I love it because it's a road away from our home and great if need something quickly. Just don't expect too much of a wide variety because it is a small Pick n Pay. With that said I've almost always found what I was shopping for, it is well managed.
What a useless PnP. Aren’t allowed to buy batteries, wood, charcoal or fire lighters. You can buy it everywhere else. Even online. All my friends the area complain about them. I stay a block away from this PnP but would rather drive to the closest Checkers that is kilometers away.
Worst pick n pay ever. Every time I go here I end up seeing vrot and rotten fruit and veg. Every single time, without fail. The gentleman who manages is rude and really doesn't seem to care what's going on. Such a pity because it's so very convenient for all buh rein residents.
The manager is not help full at all I suggest when you purchase items you should double check the price and check in detail barcode. You take something off the shelf seing a price and when you get to the till to pay its double in price. Pathetic of pick n pay manager
Had bad experience at pick npay , price which they advertised in shop was not the price on the food product and the manager of that day debate with us for an hour and was rude. Only after we started taking photos of the product then he told his staff to assist us..
Yesterday I bought 4 packs of ribs costing R350, when I got home and opened the meat only to find that the meat is rotten! I had to take it back to the shop and get my money back! I am very disappointed in this shop! Advice to all customers don’t buy the meat!
Although they are new their teething problems are not over , but they try their best stepping up to the challenge and in the two weeks i started shopping there they took heed of requests and stepped up to suggestions making me smile and go back …
I've seen smaller pick and pays that's better stocked with more variety. Lately when I've shopped here there is always a basic ingredient missing, today it was the carrots' turn.Though most of the staff is friendly and helpful not all of them are.
I just love this shop. I rather get into my car and travel to shop there and do not go the branch closest to where i stay. The shop is always clean and shelves neatly packed, you never wait in a long q, and the staff are the friendliest people!!
Can't say I've had any issues here. Stock is fairly limited but what they have is always is a good state and looks fresh. When it first opened staff was on top form. Seems to have died down again. Definitely my go to shop especially after 8.
Only buy the meat from this store at your own risk. It is a serious health hazard, they will sell it even if its going bad and if you do not pick up on it, you will be bed ridden and possibly hospitalized. Such a terrible experience i had
This store is quite small, but perfect for spur of the moment shopping. The veggies and fruit are always fresh. I had a bad experience with pork - when I opened the pack it was rotten. But there was no problem when returning it. …
Generally haven't had a bad experience but one employee always goes out of their way to help the customers, a big thank you to Anthea Philips for your excellent service. A prime example of how to achieve customer satisfaction!
The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, especially the ladies at the till points. There's hardly ever anyone available to weigh your veggies and they have only two brands of maas. Other than that, great service, keep it up.
The service at this particular Pick n Pay store is satisfactory, similar to other locations. However, being a convenience store, it is smaller than what I am accustomed to. Apart from that, I have no issues or complaints.
I really like this store. It's clean, excellent location. Although one downside is they don't stock a large variety of items. All due to the size of the store most probably. But this is definitely a nice place to shop.
Love the staff...butchery lady Patricia who is always going that extra mile when I ask her.... her smiles and friendliness...is amaizing...super friendly ladies at the tills and also the supervisor's...
Well it's very convenient. Please don't buy any pet food there. I bought rat food and found that it was full of small bugs. Not impressed at all. Makes me not wanna buy and cereal or sugar there.
Most of your needs are at this pick and pay. Really well located for just popping in and out on your way home. Petshop, cell phone shop, take aways all in one place and no traffic to worry about.
Great centre with all the necessities needed for that quick shop and a KFC drive thru and some other take away and pizza places is a neat attraction especially if you're in the Buh Rein area...
It is conveniently located, So I do not have to drive far for convenience food. The only issue is that it has a limited variety in options. They have the basics covered and that is important✅
Brand new Pick n Pay. Lots of stock and prices are good. Hardware section is better than the average. Ample parking. Kenridge branch manager should get lessons from the current manager
Wonderful and convenient little Pick n Pay. Staff is always friendly and they sometimes give free fruits to our son when we visit. Love it that we have this Pick n Pay in our area.
Well stocked shelves & close in distance from residential areas. Staff look like they could do with a break. The PNP staff mostly look tired. We are all fed-up with the virusses.
Not enough thought into this shop, isles are so cramped and the shelves are crammed full of items not spaced out nicely. Also not a wide variety and they never have coke zero.
Very helpful staff . Fresh produce.. all the time. Was extremely suprised to see their different varieties of Apple Cider vinegar.. And mustard powder too …
PNP is always clean with friendly staff. Always viable specials. The toilets in the mall never have soap. How are we to fight the virus.Cape Gate please show more care.
Wow I'm quite impressed at the variety of items in the store despite it not being one of the larger Pick n Pays. Small but perfect for your everyday necessities …
This Pick n Pay is relatively small, but I can always find soy milk and other goods at it. It is worth the visit, especially if you are just popping out for some milk.
Very disappointed with milk tart 25r no taste very insiped. Obviously cutting back on certain ingredients or too much thicking agents. Will only buy at Spar next time.
If you need to do last minute shopping or you forgot to buy something then it OK. I wouldn't recommend doing your monthly grocery shopping at this pick n pay though.
Much better, now they just need to fix their pricing, yes they are the closest, but if something differs by R15 I'm driving just a bit further for a better price.
Excellent service, lovely variety of shops and so convenient to have the chemist just outside of the Pick n Pay, not too congested and lots of parking available.
A fairly small store but has everything one would need on a daily basis, love their weekly promos, staff always around the aisles ready to help when needed.
Not so busy so very nice to quickly pop in and buy what is needed. I wouldn't recommend it for month end shopping as they don't have a huge varity of goods.
Friendly staff... bud be carefully because some of there goods is NOT FRESH and some of the workers working behind the Deli Dont Know the word Hygiene ....
My first time there. I'm new to the area. What a pleasant surprise. Friendly staff..clean shop and just generally looks great to shop there.
It's convent, but I would not say ideal for monthly shopping. It felt a little bit limited. Great if you need to quickly pop in the store.
A good selection of items for a small store. The staff is helpful and friendly. Sadly their bakeries quality leaves much to be desired.
This store is super convenient. Has all the essentials and more. Staff are generally friendly and the queues at checkout move quickly.
The store was busy which is great for business. Sufficient frontline cashiers which moves queues faster. Thanks for speedy service.
Its expensive, compared. Not a big variety. otherwise okay. EDIT: 4 years later and my review is still accurate. Nothing changed
Meat is extremely pricey wanted to buy meat there ended up turning around and going to checkers. But everything else is ok there
A small store but the food is good. It just opens at 09h00 every morning. Next to it there's a pharmacy which is good to know.
Very convenient, only place open at 8:30pm on a Sunday. Great for emergencies when you run out of something at odd hours.
This place is very good, the service is quick and people are encouraged to adhere to the covid 19 rules and regulations
Not my favorite store. They dont always have what you are looking for. But it is convenient with where it is situated.
I had to fill all 8 x 5ltr water bottles without any assistance from the standing around staff members at the store.
Service is always great and there stuff is always fresh...just love buying from this branch...Keep up the good work
This is a Nice pick n pay, the have all the necessary items for a good weekly shop. Their pies are really good.
Generally well stocked. All items needed usually available. Clean and neat. Time to till sometimes a tad long.
Always a pleasure shopping here. Conveniently situated. Clean. Food always fresh. Staff helpful and friendly.
Fantastic i love this place because it was me that clean that areaso that they can build that shopping centre
Store is convenient but cold chain needs to be examined. The milk ALWAYS goes off day before its expiry date
They need more staff at the deli, hit foods and bakery. The staff is overworked and customer wait forever.
It is the ideal shop to have near your home where you can get big shop service at small shop convenience.
Nice with good price and they have a good store manager who is always assisting whenever you need help.
Good friendly staff, just need to make sure to keep the shelfs full, sometimes looks kinda empty.
overall a good shop with competent staff with enough parking, but will be an issue in the future.
Always great service. Would highly recommend going there, they will turn your frown upside down.
Last time i was there the cashier was very helpfull...thats the reason for five stars from me
Excellent service, actually brilliant service as we experienced the last 4years.Many Thanks.
They improved on there services and waiting time at tills so happy now I can go back to shop
Always a pleasure. Staff are friendly and helpful. The store is well stocked and clean..
It's a nice shop to have nearby. If they carry a bigger variety I'd shop there daily.
Offers a variety of items considering size. Good bakery and fresh produce section.
Such a pleasure shopping there. Never long queues. Cashiers always very friendly.
Friendly staff, sometimes out of stock on what I want but overall nice to visit
I find this store somewhat very expensive and the fruits don't last long
Hardly ever have what one needs and the bakery never has what I'd want.
