Earlier this year we buried my mother at this memorial as she wanted to be closed to Home. Given that we liked the specific grave location so much, we paid a premium to get two double stacked spots right next to each other, one for my mom and the other for my dad in the future. We're going to keep two spots empty as we don't want to put them on top of each other. The grounds are small and beautiful. Karen Carpenter, my mom's favorite singer was buried here, and so we made sure my mom was buried very close to her. After my mom was buried, we noticed the grass on top of my mom's grave was dead for two months (See the image). How this was missed for two months after daily maintenance is beyond me... I finally had to point this out to management for them to fix. This was very upsetting. We've been monitoring the grave site ourselves regularly to make sure this doesn't happen again. Moreover, I submitted the final designs on the headstone on Jun 5th and didn't hear anything back for more than four months! I even saw other new grave sites with headstones before us and our headstones are much more standard than theirs. I had to again follow up on it which they replied back, but then I contacted again and no reply. Honestly, we just don't feel like they care about us. This isn't like buying a car. We lost a loved family member during an already depressing year. We'd expect at least a bit more attention and sensitivity to us. I'm not sure why we're getting singled out for poor service, but it's clear Pierce Brothers doesn't track things very well in our experience and although the employees there are nice, they're neither proactive nor organized.

Cemeteries (deceased celebrities) are not the usual kind of thing that people come to Los Angeles to see. Many travel from around the world to catch their favorite celebrity shopping or dining at a restaurant. I've seen my share of them at the most unusual times and locations. Darryl Hanna sat next to me at a special screening of Disney's "Fantasia" a number of years ago. I literally bumped into Eric Idle when I was leaving a Pier 1 Imports in the Valley a number of years back, and Will Sasso while he was shopping at the Hollywood Pier 1 Imports. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, I ran into Jay Leno with his wife Mavis at a Century City mall after seeing a movie there. That being said, in addition to the "normal" every day people, there are a number of big celebrities who are intermed here. Some of the big names here are Hugh Hefner, Marilyn Monroe, Don Knotts, Dean Martin, Eva Gabor, Walter Matthau, Jack Lemon, Farrah Fawcett, Merv Griffin, Carol O'Connor and movie mogul Darryl Zanuck and his wife Virginia. There is an interesting variety and display of headstones and burial sites. Some of them are very intricate (Don Knotts for example), others have signatures, photos of the deceased on the headstones or intricate engravings or images. There are mausoleums, fountain displays, engraved benches, plaques on the columns of areas with other headstones. You definitely feel the greatness of the entertainment industry here. It is a very peaceful place with lush lawns and flowers. It will make you think about how you want your burial site to be presented for loved ones. Worth the time to see it. Open daily from 10am to dusk.

What is there to say? it was very difficult to find, it is hidden in the middle of buildings and behind a parking lot and next to a church. There was some construction work going on so the sign to get there was minimally visible. I parked in the street and paid $2 for two hours, I did not stay there two hours, but that's the minimal you can pay, but then I realize that you can just drive into the cemetery and park next to the grave you want to visit, I mean it is open 24 hours so I guess you can go anytime you like, creepy. The place is small and you can find the star you want to visit very easily, I particularly went to see Marilyn Monroe but since I was there I also went to see Dean Martin and Burt Lancaster, there is more stars there, but too much to mention. Overall the place is very nice and peaceful and there was hardly anyone there, I mean the place was empty. If you want to go pay your respects to the great Marilyn, take her some flowers and don't kiss the grave, like some people do, its kinda gross to do that.

The grounds are beautiful, peaceful and so well maintained. The entire staff is thoughtful and compassionate on every level, to remembering our names, having cold water and treats available, umbrellas during the rainy season and even cut flowers to place for some recognized holidays. From the moment I walked in, Leticia Garcia was helpful beyond what I ever imagined. She assisted me with each and every decision, she never once made me feel rushed or uncomfortable, she took so much time talking to me, and even more time listening, to all my concerns. Letty is empathic, understanding and so very kind, and has made me and my family feel welcomed, and remembered, each time we are there. She has gone above and beyond to make sure everything for our family is exactly how we want it to be, and for that, I cannot thank her enough. It seems odd to say they feel like family there, but essentially they do, and for me that was entirely due to Letty.

Really tranquil place tucked away between highrise buildings. Loved wandering and looking at interesting graves. Pro tip: Google says this spot is open 24 hours, but it is not. They close gates at dusk and may or may not check to see if anyone is inside. However, in my singular experience, they do answer the phone if you find yourself trapped in the securely walled-in cemetery, and let you out relatively quickly. (For those anxiously scrolling reviews while currently trapped in a cemetery at dusk, do not bother calling the tow company number at the gate in the event of being trapped. They don't care that you're facing a night with Marilyn's ghost; they have cars to tow & don't have time for your problems. I called the number listed here on Google & someone picked up.)

The existence of this this place is not well known, even to locals. I work right across the street and about a year ago I showed it to some co-workers. They had no idea a cemetary was even there, much less who all is buried there! It is a pretty amazing place to visit. I love the oddities: only half of Truman Capote's ashes are here; women (and maybe some men too) put on red lipstick to kiss Marilyn Monroe's crypt; Frank Zappa is here in a completely unmarked grave (but if you ask an employee, they will show you the spot); and some of the epitaphs are great: Merv Griffin's reads "I will not be right back after this message." Certainly worth a visit.

Everyone at Pierce Brothers treated both myself and my husband with the utmost care and respect in taking care of my Mother, Maisie Evans. And indeed, these were the 2 watchwords that we can apply to their treatment of her. We live in the UK and had the additional stress of dealing with this event in another country whilst not really knowing what the procedures would be in the US. Added to which, we were not allowed to fly out to the US because of Covid for quite some time after her death, but Pierce Brothers took care of everything for us and as I said in an email to them, we will be eternally grateful.

I chose Dignity Memorial/ Pierce Brothers in Westwood Village, Los Angeles, CA. I used services for preparation, transportation and the website with wonderful help from Shannon and Bradley. Throughout this time, they were kind and supportive in our requests. I was hesitant at the viewing of my husband, Sam because they had to hold him for 18 days due to Covid restrictions. I was pleasantly surprised at seeing Sam, he looked fantastic, and I am thankful for all the care and kindness they gave to him and our family. I highly recommend them for the kind service.

  • Tyler J. Adams

Nice, but commercial development makes it difficult to find the entrance if driving by car and looking for good signage. See my pics for visual aid. More than a few celebrities, though Hef has yet to be marked. Not sure if he still truly has the spot above Marilyn Monroe, as the lipstick makes you believe he's to the left of her. Farrah Fawcett and Rodney Dangerfield were easy to find on the road. Street parking was $1 an hour, and we just did that instead of trying to go in the gates.

  • Julie Ives

This place definitely deserves 5 stars. Not many people, including locals, know where it is situated. It is down a driveway next to a library. Look for Pierce Bros. If you do visit, make sure you take a map of the grounds that you can download as you will kick yourself that you didn't see everyone who is here. Very quiet, peaceful and you would not even know you were in LA. Definitely will visit again. Take flowers as well if there is someone there who is special to you.

  • Frank V

Came here based on Google reviews so decided to check it out. It is a relatively small cemetery, but very intimate and clean. Beautiful mausoleums and crypts of celebrities made it a surreal experience. aside from the big two (Marilyn Monroe and Hugh Hefner), you’ll also find other celebrities plus the unmarked graves of Roy Orbison and Frank Zappa. Spent an hour here taking photos and also quiet time to pay my respects. Highly recommend if you’re in LA.

  • Donna Pollock

I was luckey enough to visit this cemetery this past may 2016. What a beautiful place this is. So quiet and peaceful. The grounds kept up beautifully. Bathrooms were spotless. What an awesome place to be laid to rest. I was so impressed by everything I saw. I went into the office to say thank you for allowing us to visit everyone's grave. The very sweet young lady I spoke with was so very nice and kind. I truly love this place Donna Pollock

  • Eighties Puter

An amazing, beautiful and tranquil cemetery, yet so close to bustling Wilshire Boulevard. This is the final resting place of more well known people, per square foot, than any other cemetery. Map its location since the entrance is unmarked. Footnote : Elizabeth Taylor's parents are in crypts and she was going to be interred here but changed her mind after attending Michael Jackson's memorial service at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California.

  • FairytaleFilmmaker

I never knew this little memorial park existed until I filmed a funeral there this week. It's small but certainly filled with very interesting names and features. We had a small service with just about 30 people and a mariachi band. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We traveled to a different cemetery for the actual burial but this was a lovely outdoor spot for the funeral service. Parking is just what you see here.

  • Eric Nilson

It's worth visiting to see the place where Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Billy Wilder found peace. We hardly found the entrance to the cemetery, at first we walked around a bit, orienting ourselves on the map in the phone. When they entered, they plunged into peace and quiet, as it should be in such a place. They found those to whom they came, looked at the graves and slabs. Peace and peace to these great people.

  • Jeremy Costello

I visited this unique final resting place for Hollywood's elite, on November 17, 2009 and let me tell you, the place is amazing! There are so many celebrities jammed packed into this small cemetery that's a stone's throw away from towering office buildings and busy Wilshire Boulevard. Paying my respects to all, especially Dominique Dunne and Heather O' Rourke was tremendous, Westwood is truly worth the visit!

  • Elizabeth Treasure

Beautiful resting place to the stars. You would never know this peaceful little memorial park was tucked between tall office buildings. You can park onsite or on the outer street near the office buildings, there's also a parking garage. If you have trouble finding the final resting place of someone you can walk into the main building and ask the staff at the front desk, they are very nice and happy to help.

  • Manuel Girisch

Small, beautiful place of peace. Pay tribute to celebraties like Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Kirk Douglas, Ksrl Malden, Dean Martin, James Coburn, Marilyn Monroe, Louis Jordan, Billy Wilder, Burt Lancaster, Peter Falk, Wolfgang Petterson, Roy Orbison and many more. Very close together. Also possible to drive in but a little hard to find. Entrance is from Wilshire Bldv. Don't miss this place!

  • Miranda Stewart

A very well kept memorial in a very unexpected area, located between a group of large buildings. You can park on the street behind the cemetery and walk a block or two towards the main entrance. A number of celebrities are buried here; Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood, Jack Lemmon, Don Knotts, Farrah Fawcett, Sage Stallone, and many more. There is a great amount of history to view.

  • Rachael Gibson

I always say I’m going to stop by when in the area, and I never do. A very lovely place, it’s a good area to escape to for some peace and quiet. Though it’s hard to find the entrance to, you’ll be rewarded with a quiet setting away from the hustle just set around it. I came to see the Crane’s site, but you can make a nice walk around the area as well. Very friendly staff.

  • Richard Prost

One if the most humbling places a person could visit. Names of very famous people engraved on head stones, reminds you that " The paths of glory lead but to the grave." One of my favorite personalities, BURT LANCASTER. Is remembered here with a one foot square bronze plaque. Reminds us all of our mortality, and not to take ourselves very serious. Life is a fleeing moment.

  • Lorri Boatright

We came to LA. About Christmas time. I had never been to Cali. I wanted to see famous grave sites Most of the Cemeteries you can’t even get close to the graves. This Cemetery (kinda in a weird place you wouldn’t expect a Cemetery to be in) IS VERY WALKABLE. YOUR UP CLOSE TO Monroe, Fawcett, MANY MORE Very well kept. Very peaceful. Thank you for letting us walk around

  • Scott Lanway

As weird as this will sound, PBWV is my favorite place in the city of Los Angeles. A quiet green oasis in the middle of a neighborhood that literally grew up around it, and also an open-air history museum of sorts. I've lost count of how many times I've brought a takeout lunch and a notebook and sat by Billy Wilder's grave, drawing inspiration for my own screenplays.

  • John Yeager

The staff of Pierce Brothers Westwood were both helpful and comforting throughout our time of grief and sorrow. The Yeager family has a long and close relationship with Westwood Memorial Park and as a family we have always been treated with compassion and respect. Your commitment to beautiful surroundings and loving service will always be cherished. Thank you.

  • Daryle Knight

Amazing, professional service. Funeral director Shannan made this experience as smooth as possible. She was in constant communication, her friendliness, professionalism and the work (makeup) she did on my love one was beautiful. I can not say enough good things about Pierce Bro. The chapel is beautiful as well. My family is well pleased.

"A Hidden Gem", my mother said. My utmost respect for Pierce Brothers Cathedral. A very honorable place for one's last Ceremony/Mass/Culto. My mother and father visited and plan their away party with BOOM&BANG&BLESSING to us all present those celestial days. #WWMEJIA MejiaSamayoaFamily Adilia&Guadalupe

PLEASE DO NOT BUY OR BURRY YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. The company not hold their employees accountable for their actions. They create and add new rules without any consideration for their loved ones. Again, do not buy anything from this company. This location may be nice but the company acts like dictators.

  • Lissa Sholty

I was impressed by the service at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Mortuary. Bradley was a Funeral Arranger and he was compassionate, patient and responsive. He was also able to assist us in arranging the services in a timely manner so that the family could have some closure. Thank you very much.

  • emi chin

A quiet serene well kept place in the middle of Los Angeles surrounded by high rises and the traffic of LA. Final resting place of the ordinary and famous. Entrance is on Glendon Ave(first left after turning off Wilshire Blvd). You might be the only one there, it’s that tranquil.

  • molly hyman

This is a small and charming cemetery, resting behind a high rise office building. Most of my family are here, along with many celebrity friends of the family. If you put all the talent buried here together, they could make one heck of a movie together. Definitely worth visiting.

  • steve lyke

A hidden gem. Close to UCLA. Just off of Wilshire. Beautiful cemetery with many celebrities laid to rest here. If your anywhere near this area, I highly recommend that you take 30 minutes or so to walk these grounds. It's refreshing to see that some headstones are quite humorous.

  • Tim Gideon

Beautiful and serene cemetery. Definitely a hidden gem in the city. Here you will find the final resting places of Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin, both in above ground crypts. Also in the plots on the lawn are Natalie Wood, Don Knotts and several others from Hollywood history!

  • Boris Gorbis

This urban oasis is a great secret to share with out-of-towners. But, I took to going there for the serenity and a rare sense of harmony with Life. It does not take much, but a walk though the final pages of other people's lives is a great way to value and enjoy your own.

  • Mikke Pierson

Mom and Dad are both here in this beautiful and intimate setting in the middle of Westwood. The staff is excellent and responsive and they made a big positive difference in helping us through the process. I truly feel like mom and dad are where they are meant to be.

  • Debra Gardner

A true honor to be able to show my respects to many whom I have admired and once loved. Was here on November 15,2017. Very quiet, beautiful cemetery. The staff are very friendly ,although you do not need permission to visit. The grounds are very well maintained.

  • James Speed

This is a beautiful, well kept cemetery. I have visited it a number of times over the past 20 years to pay respect to the many celebrities buried here that have brought joy and laughter to my life. Such a place of solitude in the hustle and bustle of Hollywood.

Right smack down in the middle of the city surrounded by buildings in seclusion and oddly enough, tranquility and serenity. You would have never thought that some of thee most famous actors of our time would be buried here.

  • Ирина Кудрявцева

Many famous personalities are buried here, such as Marilyn Monroe, Farrah Fawcett, Hugh Heffner and Frank Zappa. But for me, the main celebrity remains Janis Joplin cremated here... Rest in peace Janis. We remember you.

  • es L

This is not part of the tour but our kind tour guide dropped us here for a brief visit. Marilyn Monroe & Hugh Hefner side by side. Very well maintained area which I suppose house most of the wealthy affluents from LA.

  • Amin

It's a small cemetery mostly interesting to Iranians/Persians because of two famous singers, Hayedeh and Mahasti, buried here. There might be more celebrity tombstones here that I'm not aware of though.
