No. The Pilgrim is even after a long running time one of the best restaurants you can visit in the Davao region. Come and proof by yourself. Update 3 in in July: We finished their menu! Today we got the beef bourguignon (new on their menu) and the Salmon. And the burned cauliflower. To be honest: Today the pilgrim changed a little bit back from "somewhere over the rainbow" back to "OK, we are still in the philippines". It wasn't about the food. This was delicious and far beyond any critic. Like on all visits. Go there, you will love it! It wasn't also the burned cauliflower. This one is really burned! They pull out a 8000 Watt Gas burner used for building and construction purposes to really burn a cauliflower. It is something you should try at least once. Very different taste. Not mine, but not bad. You need to try, i can not describe. It was burned, not baked. No. They have two new dogs. Barking dogs. One endless barking dog somewhere outside, one loud and disappointing dog inside of the restaurant. And to make it complete, one of the inside-dog-care-giver guide this barking dog outside to pee on my car. Directly. That happens often in the philippines, how will you control the dogs? But this one was lashed and guided direct to my car, so.. not funny. They have also new opening times, 7 Days a week, longer at the weekend. I tried to update google maps, but google maps did not accept until now, check their FB page. Don't worry: They also did not update the opening times in front of their own restaurant. So: Welcome back to the philippines. Update 2 in June '23: Still WOW! Sunday, no table reserved. We need to fall in line or visit another restaurant (this Family has 4 at this place)... but we decide to wait. We ordered some snack and coffee from the farmer market in front, and had the Line-Number 7... only 5 minutes later we had a table. Lucky: One of the reservations was late, so we could sit down and order... And it was delicious like before. Pilgrim is our most favorite Restaurant. It's far away from our Place, but not to far. We need 1 hour to go downtown Davao, so we need 1 hour to go to the pilgrim. They plan to make another Restaurant with the same quality, but different Style/Menu maybe at Matina Crossing in Davao! Lets look forward for it! Old review: Wow... really WOW! Theres a lot of Restaurants in and close to Davao deserving 5 Stars, because they serve very good Food - in quality, friendly and cleanliness. Compared to the most, the Pilgrim deserve 6 Stars. If you go there, never miss the beef (!!) rips and the Irish lamp stew. Both are maybe the best brand of this special variants of food in and around of Davao... maybe of the Philippines. Also, the Cheeseburger & the seafood-pasta is gorgeous. Pay attention of the opening time, they are more closing times! If you come from Calinan it is more than 1 hour to go, if you come from Davao maybe 1,5 Hrs. But believe me: It is worth! Pay attention: You pay for the quality you get! A meal can reach nearly 1000 Pesos, soon it will break this marker.

Pilgrim Cafe offers cozy brunch dishes with an open kitchen and inviting dining room. The restaurant sits within the “hot pot” of restaurants surrounding the cold-breezy mountains of Bukidon-Davao (BuDa) road. It is best that when one intends to visit here either for a long chit-chat and catch up talks or for one fast gastronomic experience to book a seat or table in advance. The queue felt never-endless. While waiting, one may indulge in the short breads and pastries of their cafe section. The coffee shop serves aromatic beans at par with the coffees in the metro. The bean feels a lot more authentic as the ambiance threw you away on every sip. The food there leans to a more salty and herby, yet enriching flavors. The lemon chicken and braised beef short ribs should definitely be on your list to try! Their aglio olio is also one for the books. But definitely one thing on the menu that shouldn’t be missed is their awe-mazing Steak & Eggs (tenderloin strips)! *kisses in Italian* The concoction made with the steak (the grilled/fried garlic, vinegar, herbs, etc.) is nothing short of an overdo. It is also my first time to try a steak with that kind of presentation and mixture because steaks are usually served as it is, just the meat — but the thing is, it wasn’t actually just made for the sake of presentation, but the experience in masticating all of the concoctions in your mouth. Wonderfully created. Plus it is served to you personally with a backgrounder by the head chef himself. Definitely a bang for the buck!! Overall experience — 4/5 Restos a bit pricey but worth the try!

The place is very relaxing, and the staff was outstanding. They were very patient and even asked if we wanted to appetizers first then the main dishes. After looking at the menu, I noticed it was French/Canadian cuisine. for appetizers, we ordered the Burnt Cauliflower and Poutine, and boy it was a right decision. Burnt Cauliflower was the highlight for the appetizers. The right crisp and tenderness for the cauliflower, and the burnt part tasted like elotes in mexico. You can even taste the acidity of the orange zest which was a nice play of flavors. Poutine was amazing and it will always be the perfect comfort food. Just wished it had the cheese curds rather than the melted cheese, but I am not complaining. Next is the Grilled Salmon and Coq Au Vin. The Grilled Salmon? Boy! That was heaven. Other than the salmon being perfect, the couscous it came with was to die for. Oh don’t forget the herb oil it has on their plating because it will open up new horizons. Now for the Coq Au vin. Just like the Grilled Salmon, it was exquisite. The wine sauce was perfect, and it greatly complimented the mashed potatoes with garlic confit and sautéed mushrooms that was paired with the chicken. The dish’s pancetta had the right saltiness. The chicken was cooked perfectly that it will fall off the bone. Overall, my visit to this place was quintessential. I recommend everyone to try this place. Wish I was able to talk to the head chef, but he was busy expediting food out the kitchen.

Drove 1 and a half hours to eat here with family. It was worth it! We ordered (ok, this is from memory so I might get the exact names wrong): lamb stew, chorizo pasta, truffle with mushroom among others. My kids don't eat chorizo on its own but the chorizo linguini (?) was their favorite dish. As for me, I could not decide. Everything they served was good. The music choice was superb although you will hear the kitchen bustle along with it. It adds to the vibe. We messaged them on Facebook and asked if we could walk in and they said yes (thank you, Pilgrim!). They said there were 4 in line before us but the wait was manageable which tells me how efficient their operations were. I honestly was not prepared how jam-packed the restaurant would be. We couldn't park in the parking spaces so we had to settle parking by the roadside which was not a problem. I would post pics but we attacked the food before I could get any decent ones. I think we left nothing but thanks to Kristine and Jeremy, the owners. If you want to try something unique (yes, even for Manila-based folks like me) drive to Marilog to experience Pilgrim. The are is scenic and cool and the road is wide and without traffic (feels like driving to Baguio and Sagada) without traffic. I hope you will enjoy the trip and the restaurant as much as we did.

This review is coming from a first-time experience. The place is already warm and inviting which makes the atmosphere a 5/5. Having an open-kitchen is nice where you can see how the food is prepared and the staff working together, communicating while cooking the food is cool considering it's a first time for me to see the chefs communicating and coming together. The service is great because they are very active in taking our additional orders and switching out empty water pitchers right away. They are also polite in talking to us. Now for the food, I was really impressed with everything I ate especially the Truffle Mushroom Gnocchi especially the sauce which was really good. O was able to taste the order food from my family such as: the cheeseburger, poutine, and chicken pot pie which were all very good. Also, the Moose Track S'mores was really good. Hoping to try the other deserts in the next visit. Overall, I enjoyed the experience especially because it's my first time so I hope to come back soon. I would recommend this for families or friends who just want to spend time together and enjoy some great food.

THE BEST CASUAL DINING IN BUDA!!! and i mean every single word. We wouldnt travel all the way from gensan tif it wasnt good. NO WALK INs. Book through their FB page or send a DM in their IG. And come on time cuz they will only hold your reservation for 30min. No need to pre order food. Food service is fast and thr food is served warm. You can be sure that your food is fresh and clean cuz you can see them cook in front of you through their open kitchen. FOOD IS SUPERB. Chef's kiss level. They have chefs recommendations too that's not on the menu SO ASK FOR IT. the resto itslef is open type but dont worry, it's cold there lalo na if umulan. So bring your hoodies or cardigans. They have desserts and coffee too. If you're a coffee enthusiast, you will love this place. Masarap ang kape. Locally sourced beans. Freshly ground per order. Sugar is muscovado. THE BEST RESTO IN BUDA 100%!!!

Been to Pilgrim quite a few times and the food never disappoints. It may be a bit pricey but the quality and the serving portions are on point. Their hummus and burnt cauliflower dish is always a favorite. Reservations are recommended especially if you are a big group coming over the weekend. Parking can a bit challenging if you come in in peak hours. Ambience is perfect with Buda cool breeze. To have a restaurant that serves this kind of food and experience in Mindanao is truly a privilege! Pilgrim is always worth a drive up.

Had a short stop here and ordered bread basket of the day and Chorizo Linguine. The place is nice and clean and all the food that’s coming out of the kitchen looks so appetizing. I was happy with what I ordered, the linguine is really good so are the bread as it goes with butter and dip (balsamic & olive oil). I requested for an extra dip but I was told that they will charge me for the extra dip. Charging extra is not a common practice not only here but in other countries too unless it’s indicated in the menu. I think it’s better if they include the extra with the price whether they ask for extra dip or not that goes with the Parmesan too.

This place is such a gem. Top-notched service and food, I thought I was entering the set of “The Bear” when I sat by the counter and watched the kitchen staff go about their duties in the open kitchen. I really loved the bustling atmosphere, the music, the food selection. It gets busy during the weekends so I would suggest making a reservation beforehand. This restaurant really surpassed all restaurants in Davao and I wish they have more branches in the city. It’s really worth the trip for good food.

A gustatory pilgrimage, this restaurant is a must try. Great Ambience, Great Setting, and lastly, the food is immaculate. Without a doubt the best restaurant in Marilog / Buda Area. I'm loving the fact that we can see and interact the kitchen staff while doing their thing, as well as the head chef manning the kitchen like an artisan perfecting his craft. The receptionist and the staff/servers are really hospitable and friendly as well. I recommend getting their Brisket Hash, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Seafood Aglio Olio, and lastly their Grilled Sea Scallops. I myself would return a hundred times and would consider myself a regular. This place is really good.

If you are looking for an instagramable place in Buda that offers high-end quality food presentation. PILGRIM is a must visit. Food doesn't come cheap though, you really have to spend more than usual. But that's only for our case. Parking is very limited, but the ambience is really cozy and top level. I love their comfort rooms, though the entire place is not that friendly for people with mobility needs. Their food is okay for me, and it's really worth trying. Good for family and friends bonding.

Went here twice and the food is… mid. Overhyped. Some of the dishes were salty for me. I was kinda disappointed because this restaurant was included in the Tatler Dining Guide The atmosphere and staff are nice though. Baked goods and coffee are good. Wanted to try the Tiramisu but the server forgot. So I guess there’s a reason to go back here. P.S. always message/call to reserve a table. Also there’s limited parking, you might have to park on the side of the highway

Most fancy restaurant in Buda. Great Ambiance, perfect location (though the parking area is a little chaotic) especially on weekends. That’s why it’s recommended to book in advance as this resto is really popular. 3 stars food, service, chefs and the resto itself. Fave is the gnocchi — the combination of truffle, cream and the gnocchi is just magical. Well done!! Will surely come back for some more gnocchi. ❤️

On par with international level cuisines. The truffle gnocchi tasted just as good as my favourite truffle pasta in London. Great ambience and interior design. One of the most fascinating restaurants, outside the city proper of Davao. It reminds me of Antonio’s Tagaytay.Great setting , great food. I enjoyed their Mediterranean entrees, well presented, in their plating. One thing that I noticed though it is a modern rustic look, the whole dining area, to open kitchen, their pantry , their toilets are also immaculately clean and are very impressive in terms of cleanliness, orderliness, much more the pleasant hospitality makes it a popular place covering A and B. Market . Summing it up , I was delighted visiting this wonderful place

Food was great. Place was so cozy and warm. Nice place to dine with family and friends. When we were there it was so crowded. We waited for 3 hrs before we were able to eat. Better to make reservation. Staff were trying their best to accomodate us but i think they should manage how to arrange reservation and walk-in customers.

Open kitchen experience. Simple place. Food is good. The gnocchi which i had was very very very good... I will come visit again. The price is a bit high for me but worth the food. It was good but didn’t live up to the hype. Truffled mushroom gnocchi was good. The croque madame was so so. Grilled octopus was tough and very chewy! The measly jam, ricotta, and butter served with scones were ridiculously tiny! I wouldn’t drive 2 hours for a 7am reservation. If walk-in tables were easy to get and I was in the neighborhood, I would eat here again. However, I would have to admit that they do contribute to the community of up and coming restos in this area.

Tried a lot of food items in their menu and everything was great! Will definitely be back. Just make sure to reserve a seat when visiting during peak days.

Mesclun salad was fresh, hummus was good, truffled mushroom soup was hearty (loved that the truffle oil wasn’t overpowering). Grilled salmon with quinoa was also great! Brioche (from their coffee shop) reminded me of my father’s perfect bun of brioche that he used to take home when he was still working as a hotel pastry chef. Would def come back to try other food here!

The service is great. The kitchen works like it could be out of a textbook of good kitchen practices. Efficient wait times, amazing textures and flavours. Pure joy on a plate

Must Visit when you're around Buda. most probably the best restaurant in Buda. Gentle Cool breeze. Mellow Music. serving time is fast. The Food tastes amazing. Mushroom Gnocchi & warm cheesecake is still a must try. definitely worth the roadtrip. Book your seats ahead or contact them before you visit. :) we'll surely come back.

We traveled from Davao City to dine here. It's quite a small place with perhaps 5-6 tables the most. Food was delicious especially the Hummus, pasta gnocchi with truffle oil and salmon. The Beef ribs we ordered was ho-hum to me. Service was good, they even have a parking attendant guiding us where to park. Definitely thumbs up!

Ambiance is perfect for romantic dates and or family gatherings. The food is good. The place is neat, music is just right and the toilets are clean. The kitchen area is clean and orderly. Good wine selection with coffee bar. Pastry and desserts are to die for. Hehehe I recommend this to everybody. Location is near the highway.

A must visit when in BuDa. Everything's perfect. The food, the ambiance, the service. It's a great find; a bit far from the city but a hidden gem worth the 2 hour drive. Their music playlist is also excellent. You'll love it. ❤️ I highly recommend Pilgrim.

Pilgrim Restaurant, BuDa When travelling to BuDa, make sure to drop by to this new cafe and resto! They have a very unique menu for food. Worth the price! I love the truffle mushroom and soup made of bukidnon beef. Also, try the s’mores for dessert. Place was ok, and staff were attentive.

Great place to unwind on weekends. Best to book before driving up since it's fully booked always! Baked goods are so yummy such as candied bacon bread!

Fine dining comes to BuDa. A gastronomic experience which is worth a visit when you're in Davao city or Bukidnon. The place is not cheap and is comparable to Manila fine dining rates.

A must visit restaurant in Davao City. They serve great food complemented with a chill ambiance and cool climate being located in a higher elevation. Kinda feel like you’re in Baguio.

The drive there takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes from the city but all worth it because the food is great. Also, prepare extra cash as the menu is a little pricey.
