Normally, I don't leave negative reviews, but in this case, it was necessary. Occasionally, I go to this pub to watch sports or meet friends. Never in my life have I seen such poor bartenders! I've been visiting this bar for 5-7 years now... It seems that they hire the same type of staff, who are either inattentive, uncooperative, or completely untrained. Over two years ago, I ordered a cocktail in this bar! The bartender couldn't figure out how to make it. (IT WAS ADVERTISED ON THE BOARD,) Recently, I was in this pub and overheard someone ordering a cocktail, and the situation was the same... The lady in charge seems to be the only one competent enough to make cocktails! There is no awareness among the young staff that their unprofessional behavior is causing poor customer service! Unfortunately, there is a clear trend in staff behavior which indicates those in charge must want these types of workers, for whatever reason. The only time I interact with the staff is when I'm ordering a drink, and I've observed this trend over time. Due to its location and lack of regulars, most likely due to its poor customer service, it's a great place to watch sport as you're nearly guaranteed to get a seat. It's the only reason I return. There is a lady behind the bar who appears to be the manager. She is friendly and does her best, but she needs to lay down the law with some of the other staff who are clearly not providing the best possible customer service. Bartenders chatting and disengaging while people stand at the bar for a long time is appalling! It's nearly as bad to turn off sport when people are watching! Get it sorted out!

On our last day in Dublin we ended up going into Pillar for a bite to eat due to the great location (City centre with a tram stop right outside the door. When inside we were greeted by the local barman Shaun who took incredible care of us taking us through the range of local beers and whiskeys and even going through the food menu with us. We ordered two burgers and they were absolutely delicious, the fries on the side were some of the best I have ever tasted. After the meal we ended up talking with Shaun more who told us about some great local tourist spots to visit we had not heard of, explained the local sports (there is a lot more to know than you would think), as well as regaling us with incredible stories of Irish history, the war of freedom and some amazing stories about the old buildings in the area. If you are in Dublin, make sure to go to Pillar bar for the food and stay for the local history stories from Shaun. Truly was the highlight of our trip.

This place has a 90s Temple Bar Rock Garden feel to it, I went in with my wife for a drink after a few hours of her shopping. I immediately felt at ease when I walked in. There was decent music playing. I could see people eating and there was a really good vibe. The bar man was quick and professional while still being friendly. There’s a small cocktail list written on a chalk board. Short and sweet. It’s better to be a great at a few cocktails than average at a loads of cocktails. The smoking section is outdoors and it’s small but we got chairs. The toilets were clean. Overall I’d recommend this bar and I’ll definitely be back

This is a great dive bar right in the heart of Dublin. If you are looking for an Irish pub or trendy club, this isn't for you. I usually visit on the weekends and they have a lovely staff and great vibe. It is one of the few places you can hear rock as opposed to that standard radio music you find around the city centre. They also do proper cocktails. If you are looking to grab a pint and listen to some rocking tunes give this place a go.

I would say I'm a regular. Weekdays on the afternoon or evening are generally not too busy and the people at the bar will accommodate you almost as soon as you approach them. But weekends just like any other pubs, you would see a jam-packed venue. But I like this place, it's our regular hang out spot.

They are open on Mondays as I was in there tonight with my friend Anne Fitzroy for dinner. I had a Cajun Chicken Burger with bacon, onion rings and chips on the side and Anne had the steamed muscles and we both had drinks. Dinner was great and the Open Mic Night was very funny!

Was a rock bar, absolutely wedged sometimes. Was there recently, the music was terrible, the place was empty. Another soulless bar pumping out the same rubbish as literally every other bar in Dublin. The beer was good, but not bothered going back there again.

We shared the family menu and it was delicious. A lot of food for the price. The service was good. The place is more of a pub than a restaurant so take that into consideration. They have quite the range of beer and even non-alcoholic beer options.

Went on a Sunday. Really Nice pints but the music was horrifically loud. I asked the barman to reduce the volume & was told no. I’ve had good nights here but this time it was unbearable - it was completely empty because of the insanely loud metal blasting.

Great bar in south Dublin! Was fully packed during the day time as well. Popular spot for locals and foreigners. They have small sitting area outside which was amazing. You can spend hours sitting there sipping beer and watching people.

Cool pub, good food , drinks and super fun late at night. The staff is full of energy and nice with foreigners. They helped us a lot with tips. An extra for the good Music always!

Amazing. But poor choice of songs. Went on the new year eve. Loved the ambience, yet could have been little better. At the heart of city, beside Liffey river.

  • Talles Cappellozza

The worst beer I ever had in Dublin. I had an Oharas Session IPA, They mixed water into the beer and the taste is awful. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.

Not a bad spot. Food is shocking so don’t bother. Gents toilets in bad need of an upgrade.
