Place Royale in Old Quebec is an absolute treasure for history buffs and anyone looking to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of this beautiful city. The cobblestone square, surrounded by centuries-old buildings, exudes an unmistakable charm that instantly transports you back in time. The centerpiece of the square is the stunning Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, a picturesque church that stands as a testament to the city's enduring legacy. Exploring the intricate details of the church's facade is a must. Wandering around Place Royale, you'll find boutique shops, art galleries, and quaint cafes that offer a delightful blend of contemporary and historic ambiance. Sampling local treats and crafts while taking in the views is a highlight of any visit. The nearby Musée de la Place Royale provides a deeper dive into the area's history, with engaging exhibits and insights into the lives of those who once called this place home. Overall, Place Royale is a place where history comes alive, and every corner tells a story. It's a must-visit destination that captures the essence of Old Quebec, and I can't recommend it enough

Place Royale is where Samuel de Champlain founded the City of Québec in 1608. With buildings that combine French and British influences in North America, the square has a charm all its own. This is the precise location where Samuel de Champlain built the first permanent French settlement in the Americas. Erected in 1608, his first abitation was a fort, store, trading post, and residence all rolled into one. That’s why Place Royal is considered the cradle of French North America. The varied architecture reflects the successive periods of French and British colonization. A few steel and glass structures reflect current 21st century trends. The perfectly restored houses that surround Place Royale have become restaurants with patios and stores that sell souvenirs, crafts, and more.

We stayed here over the New Years Eve weekend. The first room we were put in was 319. We could hardly get the bus boy cart in it. The room was very small with a slow working tiny toilet. We asked for another room because we were to be there for 3 nights. They gave us the one beside it 318, much more space, even though the attendant didn't seem to agree. We were quite happy with this room over our stay. The bed was amazing, along with the pillows. Great little hotel, with great parking. The restaurant was quite good too, although a little pricey as we had the NYE planned meal at 150$ per head. We would stay again for the ease of access and location to old Quebec. Thanks

Very disappointing. What was supposed to be the most important landmark in the whole city, has been completely ruined a large wooden patio deck and restaurants playing BRITISH music! Not to mention a couple of jerks who thought the front of the church would be a great place to park their large pick-up trucks! The Lower City in general was a bit of a tourist trap, except for the Royal Battery. The Upper City is far better!

Place Royale is just like the old-fashioned movies with buildings that combine French and British influences in North America. Lovely shops and restaurants, and unfortunately, the church is only open on weekends. Also, there is an incredible artwork To see it, you have to stand in the right place so you can see it by completing the lines.

So lively and unique. Place Royale is the spot where, in 1608, Samuel de Champlain built what became the first permanent French settlement in North America. It’s still an amazing meeting point for cultural activities, it’s definitely worth a visit when in town. I was there right before Halloween and there was a band playing, all kids were in costume, very beautiful to watch!

No matter how many times it come to Quebec I always make sure to attend mass at This cathedral. Despite where the cathedral is located, is so beautiful and especially during Christmas they have a gorgeous Christmas tree in the middle of the square. I love every minute visiting this place when I’m in Quebec.

The old town was very charming. Liked the topography, the stairs, the building architecture, shopping windows, the solo player and singer, the street scene, the patios, enjoyed a cup of green tea at leisure at the foot of the Breakneck Stairs, while watching people going up/down the stairs at easy or with efforts.
This place is magnificent during the winter season. We have been coming here for two winters back to back just to spent the new years Eve. The disco party was pretty awesome. Definitely take a ferry ride which is really close to the center. Also, if you really wanna witness a true winter, go to Saguneay.
Iconic Quebec place to visit. It looks nicer and wonderful at night, especially at Christmas day. It has wonderful view of whole city. The place is not too crowded.

A great location for exploring Lower Town. Lots of landmarks and attractions to see which makes it for a good photo op! Shops are also abundant in this place, whether it’d be a coffee shop, ice cream shop or a restaurant, this place has them!
A quaint and beautiful town square whose architecture and character will make you feel like you are in Europe. It is simply a good place to walk around, relax, and take in the stone buildings, the flowers, and the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires
Visiting this historical place was a delightful experience. Its rich history and architectural beauty transport you to another time. What makes the visit even better is the charming setting – it's surrounded by beautiful cafes. After
My favorite part of Old Quebec City. It's also not too huge in size, so it's a great meetup spot if you're travelling in a group!

This place is just like the movies. Instagrammable place! I guess this has been a place of shoot for many historical movies. Lots of restos around. Church was not open when we went there on a weekday
I loved walking through seeing both the French and English architecture. I liked that they kept the names and year it was built on each home.

Take this your as part of the Museum of civilization ticket. It’s a walking tour of the lower city. Our guide pointed out details of architecture as well as the history. We learned a lot!!
It looks so old, but apparently was only build in the late 1970's. We have been there over Christmas, and it was beautiful.

Important square in Quebec city, lovely stores and restaurants. Also you can see there the Notre-Dame des Victoties, one of the ancient churches in North America. More
Old Town square that you must visit if you come to Quebec. It is very European like. No wonder they said Quebec is is most European city in America.
I fell in love with it at first sight. Enjoyed sitting outside over a cup of latte and watching the world go by... More
