I took a party of eight to lunch at Polperro Vineyard Dining on 20 October. It was superb. From the friendly welcome by Dave and his staff, through the outstanding cuisine, to the beautiful local wines, we were all ecstatic - and we had some connoisseurs among us who don't easily rave. The menu was a degustation with 12 courses. From the first canape - smoked eel with Spanner Crab - we knew we were in for something exciting and different. Three more canapes followed, pumpkin, kangaroo and duck parfait. We know not everyone will get to experience these because their menu changes, but their novelty, design and flavour were stunning. First course included food you know as pork belly, chicken, swordfish and vegetables, but were presented in beautiful flavour-filled reconstructions that generated multiple oohs and aahs. Second "course" (now up to Flavour Sensation #9) was Port Hedland scampi, smoked mussels, coconut & tamarind, with black pepper gel. You see what I mean? Third course (plate #10) was Gippsland lamb neck, caramel jus, Fermented Hawke’s farm kipfler, confit shallots, Spring leaves, native herbs and aceto balsamico. Last course to triumphantly cap this wonderful meal was a semi-freddo thingy with Polperro honeycomb and dark chocolate. Is your mouth watering yet? We were pleasantly full but not "stuffed" which is a delight too, when our ages ranged from 62 to 91. Deciding to patronise our host's vineyard, we drank bottles of the superb Polperro Sparking blanc de blanc throughout the meal, switching to glasses of Pinot or Chardonnay at the right time. The staff were knowledgeable, could talk with authority on the food and wines, and obviously were well-trained. First-class and five stars to all. The setting had that gorgeous valley view. It was just a little bit noisy with all those bare wooden surfaces, for my older group who are all hard of hearing. In that week, Polperro Vineyard Dining had just been hatted by The Age Good Food Guide. I suggest you get your bookings in early because word will spread and I am happy to contribute to that. Cannot thank Dave and co enough. The chef is amazing. The staff are great. The food is truly superb and is "show-off" good. Stop waiting - just go!

Utterly disappointing. Upon arrival, we were told it would be around 10 mins wait for the cellar door. While waiting for our turn, we got some food. After around 10 mins, we headed back to the cellar door only to be told it would be an another 35 minutes wait because a group of 8 was on the waitlist. There was no communication between key members running each section. Further, we felt pushed around there as we were rudely and dismissively told to not use a hallway and go around the building, despite being ushered through to the main dining hall through the same hallway after we had to wait for the cellar door. The look we were given by a male waiter (likely to be a supervisor) was very condescending such as to leave an extremely bitter taste in our mouth. I was looking forward to the cellar door tasting as I had a great experience last time I was here. I thought it would be just as good this time, but it turned out to be an extremely poor waste of time, seeing we travelled from Melbourne just to have this experience! Good wine and good food means nothing if you don’t have the service to match the wine and food. Having worked in hospitality previously (including managerial positions), I understand when the venue gets busy, service can, be in some aspects, lacking. Those occasions are very understandable. However, being condescending and non-communicative between sections fall short of any service standard expected of the worst restaurants, by miles. At least have some respect and decency for customers travelling hundreds of kilometres just to experience what your business have to offer!

Beautiful venue and quite nice food. Unfortunately my own experience was not up to the same standards that other reviews have suggested. Unfortunately I believe poor management and communication lead to this overall underwhelming outing. I think if I were to go back, I would do so in a less busy time (although it was really not that busy). A bit disappointed I was not able to do the wine tasting ($20). When arriving, was told that I would wait about 10 mins for the next session, 10 mins later I was told it would be a further 15. Finally when the last tasting group left I was ready and eager to explore what polperro had to offer, only to be told that a different group was going to be doing the tasting and that I would be waiting a further 35 minutes. I would hope that in the future, staff are more proficient at communicating to each other and subsequently the customers as so experiences like this do not repeat. On the positive, the couple of waitresses that we had the pleasure of interacting with with gorgeous, polite and friendly, everything you hope to see in a place like this. This sentiment was not quite shared with the head waiter, who was mildly confrontational and condescending, being quite disinterested in the wellbeing of customers and the service provided. Hopeful for the next time.

If I could give Polperro a higher rating I would. We’ve been visiting Polperro for years on so many special occasions or just for a wine on the deck chairs out the back. It’s always held a special place in our hearts and so decided to get married at Polperro. Kim and the team were absolutely incredible on the day and Kim and Lauren were amazing leading up to it. The accommodation was fantastic (both villas and farmhouse), food & drinks were amazing and the team made it 100% better. It felt as though they were just an extension of our family and friends. Incredible feedback from so many of our guests about the food. We love Polperro and will continue to visit year after year. Highly recommend for a wedding venue.

Food is great, but it feels like the staff are inexperienced when it comes to customer service. The bar person falsely charged $86, even though the price was $28. To make up for it, they offered wine pairings or tastings however they called it 'complimentary' and told us that were only waiting for 10mins for the so called pairings. We waited for approximately 20-25 mins and we were told by the staff in charge with wine tasting that there's another group that was booked already. It feels like there's a lack of coordination and communication in this winery. Will not come back.

4 of us went to Polperro Winery to enjoy a beautiful lunch and the whole experience was absolutely exceptional. The setting, ambience and beautifully friendly staff create such a wonderful environment and the food was honestly sublime. We collectively agreed that we’ve never had oysters that tasted that good! We’ve always loved eating there and we’ve shared some very special meals there over the years but yesterday was probably our best culinary experience there yet. It truly was absolutely exceptional.

We have enjoyed beautiful lunches at Polperro previously, but this was our first dinner. We were so impressed with every aspect of this experience, from initial discussions about our dietary requirements, to the last dish served for the evening. The food was the best I have ever had, both for presentation and taste. The service was phenomenal - just the right amount of attentiveness, information and a bit of fun thrown in. The wines are wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect. I highly recommend Polperro for a special occasion dinner (or anytime if you are lucky enough to be able to afford it on a regular basis).

We stayed in one of the villas and it truly exceeded our expectations! Everything was pure luxury! The bedding was like sleeping on a cloud, the open fire place was perfect, the spa bath was exceptional, the included breakfast was delicious! Absolutely loved our stay that we didn’t want to leave! I work in the industry. Been here many many times in the past w very positive abouts. Today, 135$, 3 glass of wine (great quality) Absolute horrendous service. Been rushed to pick my wines, very ordinary cheese platter. No explanation of what have been served. No water, no table service, no cutlery and plates were served. 6 crackers from Coles, seriously. I have visited Polperro Winery on many occasions over the years. It never ceases to disappoint. We recently visited for lunch. Being NYE it was very busy, nonetheless the service was as exceptional as always. The degustation was wonderful and presentation next level. I looked around inside and out, families having a wonderful time out on the beautiful lawn area under the giant gums with the vineyard vista, others on the deck or inside dining. A wonderful experience! We had a degustation menu that left my partner and I truly impressed. Each dish was a perfect blend of creativity and flavour, crafted with locally sourced produce from their onsite farm. The staff showed warmth and charisma, adding to the overall charm of our experience. The wine selection was equally outstanding, we had the Polperro Reserve which I strongly recommend. The surroundings were nothing short of breathtaking. If you're looking to indulge in a memorable dining experience look no further.

Absolutely superb dining experience. Everything was perfect from the quality, and flavour of the food to the warm and enthusiastic service. The chef has prepared a delightful menu of 14 dishes over 5 courses which are paced and presented perfectly. Each plate is just visual perfection to the eyes followed by delicious in the mouth. At $140 it’s very good value for the quality and quantity of food and service. Wine was also lovely.

My friend and I went to Polperro on a Sunday for a wine tasting. We do a lot of wine tasting and have been to a number of wine regions throughout Australia. I loved the little cellar. It sits about 8 people so you may need to wait 10-15mins if it’s full. The price for a tasting was $20 for four wines (non-redeemable). This far exceeds any other tasting experience I’ve had. I would have bought some wine if it was redeemable at least.

We went for a set menu lunch on Saturday. We weren’t there at 12 due to circumstances I don’t wish to say. But found the staff to be quite abrupt in certain ways because we were 1/2 hour late. To add insult they put the total cost on the one bank card with out even asking if acceptable. The food amazing. But sometimes things happen. Very rushed lunch so don’t go for a relaxing lunch .
