Portland police has paid me a visit tonight. Out of the three officers who arrived, two female and a male officer, only the one male was respectful. It hurts me to see that emotions get in the way of proper police work. They were attempting to get my girlfriend to lie and say she was assaulted. My girlfriend was having a panic attack and completely intoxicated, in no condition to be talking with officers. When I intervened to make sure she was alright and not being charged with any crimes the female officers called me a “piece of work” and continue to make condescending and derogatory remarks as they left. They didn’t come to help resolve as situation, they came to create one. I understand making sure that everyone is okay, but attempting to coheres a statement or confession from someone who is under the influence and having emotional issues is WRONG. In the past I was one who respected police and thought they were mostly good. These female officers have changed my opinion. Professionalism was out of their picture. This department needs a gross overhauled along with the rest of this city.
So- 1 star. Shouldn't that say plenty? Ineffective. Impotent. The indignant officer couldn't take his eyes off his laptop, sat up the road chatting with another patrol while the tweaker approached and confronted me waving a stick around. If you live in a "poor" or lower middle class neighborhood in the City of Portland- you're on your own. We all know it. Kelly School isn't safe for kids in the neighborhood to just go out and play on the jungle gym or use Glennwood park. Riding bikes in the street or just parking it to play as kids do, will result in the bikes being stolen or the ride home will include harassment by the homeless campers. And the representatives of law & order are just as likely to protect the offenders as you or me, should a citizen decide to protect their home or family or belongings. We'll protect ourselves now SE precinct. Thanks for next to nothing.
Had a vehicle stolen from Vancouver in January 2022 and recovered in Portland by the airport three days later. It's now the end of August 2022 and I have not been able to get ANY information, not even a case number that officers should have given me the night I showed up at the scene and recovered my vehicle! They also never reported the vehicle as recovered to the Vancouver police department as I found out a few weeks after recovery. EXTREMELY unprofessional! And meanwhile I'm stuck for months with a damaged vehicle I can't get fixed and no tools for work.
Contacted the Bureau to report my son's bicycle stolen from our fenced back yard. The bicycle was an expensive trick Bike. I was told by dispatch an officer would come by my residence to take a report. No one ever showed up. Imagine that. I help to pay their salary as a tax payer, but they do not give a damn nor respect to try and recover my little boys birthday gift given this May. I guess because I am a white man I hold low priority???
I have been trying for a week to speak with the officer named on my police report for a burglary and theft of my possesions. No answer or call back after many messages left. Today I have made 3 calls and had the automated phone system hang up on me 3 times. Absolutely unacceptable from a public institution! Shame on PPB!
Thanx to the sworn officers,Command officers (everyone above patrol personnel), Lieutenants, Sergents, Captains,Chiefs of the various departments, support staff and anyone else I missed. You do a thankless job for little pay and even less recognition.
PPB Officer Sid Vosu #56975 displays an exceptional ability to gain cooperation from transients in a non threatening manner. Officer Vosu responded to two calls which ended with positive results and the staff/ employees are grateful for the police.
Very pleased with prompt and efficient service tonight when reporting an abandoned and obviously stolen vehicle. Much appreciation for people who serve the City of Portland and the sacrifices they make everyday! Thank you PPD!
Thanks to Shawn Mckenzie, James Dewey for shooting Jason E. Washington a veteran, because he was trying to break up a fight. Keep up the great work and never be transparent, keep lying.
My truck was stolen police recovered it hours later I'm so happy thank you so much you are appreciated …
