This review was originally posted on the Greensborough store page but all the work was handled by Astral who is based in the Camberwell store as i assume are the jewelers who destroyed my bracelet.... If you have a jewellery repair find a shop with a jeweler on site to avoid the stress and headaches.. if you have such a great jeweler on site why was my bracelet sent off for a quote?? It was then returned with half the work done, none of what i asked was done but i was told i would have to still pay as Astral had already paid the jeweler..I then even brought a similar bracelet in to be sent to the 'master jeweler' so he could understand what needed to be fixed as a description and a diagram wasn't enough. . it was then sent off to a 'master jeweler ' who did 'his best' at a cost of an extra $300 above the original quote of $450. After 2 months of you having my bracelet it still wasn't repaired correctly, it has been repaired before without a drama. You then insult me by stating that I was complaining as I didn't want to pay the extra $300. Remember me now??I paid the $750 just to get my bracelet back and to get out of your store. I have never been so insulted. Bringing back memories?? It was only a few days ago and I paid you and am still not happy with the work. Oh look I just found where I can upload photos... shall I upload the photos of my bracelet before and after so everyone seeing this review can decide for themselves this review just gets better.. not. I found my original job order, which Astal said as their job order was faded now i had no proof of the original mistake. I also went to another jeweler to see if the damage your jeweler did could be repaired, it can't. My bracelet will have to be remade at a cost of approximately $2500. Maybe I need to think of civil proceedings and not just a review on Google... since my original post I have been to 3 other jewelers, none are able to repair the damage but I make sure the logo from your jewellery store bag is always displayed as they look at your 'work'

Don't be sucked in by the affordable prices. You get what you pay for, and you certainly aren't paying for good customer service, or quality products. The owner was rude and condescending. There was no communication between the staff members, or between staff and customer. I was constantly having to chase them for updates, because rings they said would take a month to make, took three times as long as repairs that would only take a week, took multiple. Everytime I called I got a different story from a different staff member as to what was taking so long. I even had a staff member call me back to correct one of their colleagues! One of the rings I ordered broke and I took it back for repairs. Within 24 hours of getting the repaired ring back I had to take it in again, because they had done a patch job and on closer inspection of the ring they realised the whole band needed to be replaced. Not 6 months later the replacement ring has broken in the exact same way. Due to the absolute mess it was to deal with them, and the stress and anxiety talking to the owner caused me, I don't feel comfortable taking the new ring in for repairs. I will never step foot in one of their shops again and I will make sure everyone I meet knows to stay away as well.

I have been coming to Portobello for a very long time as they have always been great to deal with, their knowledge of gemstones and metal is fantastic and their jewellery is lovely and so affordable. In the last couple of months I have spent hours in the shop with Astral and her staff choosing a few pieces and getting a bespoke ring. I loved the "Diana" ring but wanted the stones to be bigger. Astral went above and beyond to get her production team to redesign the ring so that it was just what I was after and within budget, making sure I was happy with a "prototype" before going ahead with my actual ring which I am absolutely thrilled with. I can't thank Astral and her staff enough for their customer service and patience with me and of course my beautiful ring (topaz and cz in white gold).

I had a Pretty bad experience with this shop. I approached them to fix my broken ring. In a short amount of time it broke again, and they did not want to fix it yet said they could and mucked me around. The owners refused to take responsibility. You would not expect to pay money to end up with a broken ring in the end, but in this shop it seems a norm. If they couldn’t fix the ring properly then they should have said so from the beginning, I would have appreciated that and would have gone somewhere else. Wasted my time and money to end up with a broken ring again.

I usually make a visit to Portobello when I visit Melbourne. This time, I mentioned wistfully that I had not worn a pendant for a while. Astral suggested that if I would send a photo, she could try to source stones to match the colours and lights in this piece. I'm pleased to say that her selection of stones set in gold are an exceptional match and I am really thrilled with my new earrings. As well as the matching, the service and communication was exceptional and built trust and confidence in processing the transaction from a distance. Many thanks, Astral.
