It’s one of places you can entered in Sydney for free. Yes, it has ticketed event, but it shouldn’t break your pocket (the recent “kaleidoscope” for $15). I went to free one. It has some ex-Mardi Gras bling bling displays. Some fixed features are experiment room where you can try various science stuffs (trust me, it’s fun), tram and plane displays, or space craft informations (I kinda know now, how the astronaut pooping or showering up there). It also has interactive corner, where you can participate in arts or create something. Thursday night it opens late till 9pm, otherwise normal business hours.

While in Sydney, we booked into see the Atmospheric Memory exhibition. There is something in this exhibition to interest everyone. While the first four rooms focused on the concept, have the time to look through any of the other exhibits theory, the last two rooms are where you will spend most of your time. It is an interesting concept as to how the sounds and movements we make distort/leave an impression in the atmosphere. This is a paid exhibit and was well worth it. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to look through any other exhibits,

Been here twice - first in 2017 and second in 2023. While there was a decline in the amount of exhibits, they also removed the entrance fee I suppose to compensate. Still worth the visit especially if you like looking at cool collections, learning with interactive exhibits, and just generally visiting museums with random knick knacks, science facts, and AHRT. I believe this is an extension of an arts and science museum, so it's a good mix of both.

Really fun and interactive exhibits. Staff are super helpful and lovely. The Gucci exhibit was a great exhibit which provided an insight into various campaigns from the past- very interesting if you enjoy fashion. They have exhibits which help kids learn concepts and allow play. There are adequate amenities and cafes as well as a gift store. A very worthwhile visit especially since there is no admission fee.

There are some great sections, and then there are some not so much. Kids may enjoy the exhibits on space and old trams, trains. Entry is free, and there are school tours often here. Guidance on exhibits can be better, and a map with the recommended path can help. A nice experience for may be 2 hours. Interactive sections on science, space, and old steam engines will keep kids happy.

August 2023: Another great visit to this museum which has new and interesting shows including fashion, space technology, drawing, contemporary installations, Pacific art and a new upcoming show that looks spectacular from the viewpoint, 1001 remarkable objects. Early 2023: Amazing museum and so much to discover. The clay and Zampatti fashion exhibitions were spectacular. The fashion was outer worldly. The space and transportation shows were very impressive too.

Stumbled across this museum on a walk. I had great fun exploring it. There are tonnes of interesting exhibits, including trains, fashion, furniture, planes, science, space, and music. It is a great place to bring children. Entry is free. The museum is fully disability accessible. There are accessible toilets. There are wheelchairs for hire, but these are limited, so it is best to call in advance.

Was here for the Gucci Garden Archetypes exhibition, and definitely appreciated all the hard work being put into the event. Very well thought through, very Instagrammable, and most importantly it was free. Too bad we didn't have time to roam around the many other parts of this large museum, but chanced upon some other interesting looking spaces for sure.

It's quite an interesting museum, I specially loved the interactive science expo and the Space one. The entry is free so that's always appreciated. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is due to the number of closed expos, I believe they were under maintenance but still such a shame :( If you have a few extra days in Sydney, do give it a go :)

Fantastic exhibition on at the moment "1001 Remarkable Objects"...not to mention the other permanent displays. Some items on display in the 1001 Remarkable Objects include the outfits from 'Strictly Ballroom' and 'Moulin Rouge', then step back into the past to take in a gown from 1700's France and a suit of armour from Feudal Japan, and travel even further into the past and gaze upon jewellery and items dating back to 500BC.

The museum was very interesting and I would recommend having a look at what displays they have up before going. For the main exhibit, children under 17 had free access and they also had sunflower disability lanyards at the front desk. It is a short walk from central station and has lifts for easy access within the building.

Interesting stuff to see. Recommend to take kids to this place, they'll have fun and learn about how the technology evolved in the last century. There is a lego room which can keep kids entertained for sometime and take a break, also the experimental items are engaging and amusing. Could be a good plan for a weekend.

Went on to explore the transport museum which included space memorabilia as well as the arrivals board from Sydney central station. Very fun day and the staff were enthusiastic in guiding us. Sunday museum stroll was excellent! Cant believe i have never been to Powerhouse for the last 5 years in Sydney! Love the interactive experiences and as I used to be major in Physics in high school this is like a trip down to the memory lane the museum has a huge range of exhibitions we cant finish them all before the museum closed. Might come back some other days

For free this place is amazing. Definitely a little dated but the exhibits and interactive displays still have a magical touch to them. A big fan of aviation and space, and there was plenty for me including massive planes and a space shuttle landing simulator. Keen to come again and finish my tour

Saw the "Sonder" or "atmospheric memory" exhibition. It was very interesting, the area was spacious and interactive. There were other exhibitions around, the powethouse museum never disappoint. I highly recommend you to see any of the exhibits if you enjoy art or history.

This place held a special place in my childhood. This place was in it's prime in the 90's. Today it is just a shell of it's former self. You can tell this place is ready to be packed up to move out west or rebranded to just inner city

Great museum with fascinating exhibits and plenty of interactive science experiences that assist learning. Was lucky enough to catch the Unpopular exhibition and the lowered Catalina seaplane. Easy access from light rail.

Just a few minutes walk from light rail station. The staff at the entrance was nice and reminded you to get the map from the table. The locomotives displayed on level 3 (Exit/Entrance ) are very eye-catching.

The Powerhouse Museum can be really impressive. However, whilst visiting in August 2023, there appeared be a strong emphasis on political activism over science.
