Fantastic looking shop, books piled high, real feeling of character sitting amidst an area that I'd give my right arm to live in (and I suspect that'd not be enough such is Primrose Hill!). I ploughed up from King's Cross having whooshed in from Dover on my way home just to see it finally enough having done some researching for secondhand/independent bookshops. I guess in this instance my appearance was ramshackle and so things felt frosty. Certainly the next person was welcomed, made to feel at ease whereas I felt like an intruder. I'm not keen on returning. I almost want to, to see if it will be different.
This was the first bookshop I visited while in London, and I left a piece of heart there! It's cozy, quaint, and colorful. There are piles of books everywhere, and while that makes it challenging to find any particular book you're looking for without asking for assistance, it also makes looking for it so much fun! Chances are, you'll end up discovering more great books in the process (I did). There are also discounted books in boxes outside, a children's section and original greeting cards inside. ♿ The place is rather small, so it may be tricky to navigate with a wheelchair. Definitely recommend!
Primrose Hill Books has been under Jessica’s care for the past 25 years. Passionate about literature, selling and recommended books is what gets her out of bed in the mornings and with the help of her lovely staff she enjoys providing recommendations to the eclectic mix of customers who walk through her doors. At Primrose Hill Books the great selection leans towards the arts with prices ranging from £7 for paperbacks and up to £20 for hardbacks... To find more unique and independent places why not visit the Twenty Something London website!
One year ago, I was reading a children book to my two daughters and the shop owner rudely sent us away. Maybe he was bothered by our presence (the shop is quite small and cramped), maybe he thought we were just hanging out and not going to buy anything (which is a mistake). Anyway, that was particularly shameful - my family and I have bought several books there over the years - and I will never enter that bookshop again.
I love this place, I have been multiple times and I can spend 1 hour each visit, easily. There's a coherent chaos inside and every inch is covered by a book. It seems to be only 1 copy per book, so every time I come I feel on a treasure hunt to find some obscure volume most people haven't seen. The feeling of being surrounded by soooo many books in this small magical place is great.
This is a lovely local bookshop, with a great range of titles. I am very grateful to them for delivering a book I had ordered to my door while self-isolating, which will save me from days of boredom! The delivery was free of charge and it was dropped off within 24 hours after I emailed to request it. Huge thanks to Primrose Hill Books.
I called to enquire about a textbook for university and I wasn't disappointed. I was made to feel like a valued customer and the parcel was sent well wrapped, in very good time and at a very reasonable price. The book was exactly as described, the service was excellent and I couldn't be happier.
The bookstore didn't meet my expectations hence the three stars. Place seemed slightly cramped and all the books were new instead of used, which I would've personally preferred. Overall the bookstore looks quite picturesque and pretty, but it also comes with some impracticalities.
Always helpful, and an amazing selection of books. Piles upon piles of books, but the staff always know where everything is. If a book is not available, it is only a day or two to get it on order. What would Primrose Village be without this store to anchor it?
Great library. Really nice people there. The staff is very helpful. You can find everything you are looking for and they will help you in everything the can. I have been there many times and I am always happy with the service
Handsdown my favorite bookstore in London - you could spend an hour or two here just browsing their unique and well-curated collection or reading in a quiet corner. You can also ask for recommendations from the booksellers!
Adorable local book shop with a super friendly owner who knows the area very well. Absolutely worth popping in for a look if in the area. Fabulous book selection and one of those local stores you hope stays around forever.
This adorable little neighbourhood bookshop in the heart of Primrose Hill is a must-visit if you're in the area. Despite its size, the collection was excellent and I found multiple titles that were on my to-read list.
Ordered a few books just before the bank holiday and called to confirm my order and see when they would arrive. Staff were really lovely and the book came in fully recycled and recyclable packaging which great!
I'm trying to reduce my use of Amazon and support local businesses in the area. I'd hate to think of this place not being here for my children to enjoy one day. A lovely and cozy independent bookstore.
I love this place. I’ve bought around a half a dozen books here already. They have titles that you can’t find anywhere else. Plus its also a 5 minute walk away from the awesome view at Primrose Hill.
Lovely traditional, old-fashioned bookshop with tons to browse through. Not the most friendly staff though. Perhaps I just went on the wrong day. I will go back though.
What a neighbourhood book store should be. Warm, helpful team, easy to find something to read or they’ll order it for you. Better than a chain or Amazon.
It's lovely, the place and the owner. Just arrived and the first book I saw was for me. The note at the covert said " to ruth from john. Christmas 1941"
Fabulous little book shop. Always something interesting to catch my eye. Staff are knowledgeable and warm. What more could I look for in a bookshop?
Lovely little local book store. The owner has a lot of stories to share and is always happy to help you pick the right book.
Great selection of books, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a very fast and efficient ordering service.
Great independent bookshop. Lots of choices of genre. Very helpful staff and in a lovely area of london.
Love this gem! Great selection of books, quaint, and an excellent service if you want to order a book.
Established store with new and used stock, plus cards and regular readings from well-known authors.
One of my favourite bookstores in London. Incredible selection of books and a great atmosphere.
Beautiful, dimensionally transcendental bookshop with smart and witty staff.
Great local bookshop with a brilliant range of titles and lovely staff.
Such a huge collection of every genre, including poetry -- I'm in awe
