Wonderfully landscaped gardens with a real bit of history around the Priory. There are some wonderful areas within the park including ponds and walled gardens. There is a really fantastic kids play area. The comments on here about bird excrement are sad as the only animals soiling the appearance of this place are local people with their complete inability to use rubbish bins. I really dislike the fact that this is blamed on the council, as keeping these gardens in good condition is a full time job without having to constantly fish takeaway containers and crisp wrappers out of the ponds. We live locally and this problem appears to be endemic of the area and perhaps the local people of which I am a relatively new one. We regularly find rubbish dropped in our front garden and driveway. Very sad aspect of this society we live in.

Priory Park is a pleasant park in Orpington. It’s about 15 minutes walk from the train station if you can resist the cafes and shops along the high street. There is a nice pond with ducks and a little cafe with good snacks and drinks. Because it’s a small park I could always hear the traffic but it’s great to take a walk or to relax in the manicured garden section with a nice magazine as I did. There was the usual Mr Whippy ice cream van found in most parks.
Restrooms
There are rest rooms in the little cafe!
Dog-friendliness
Sure you could walk your dogs’

It was a lovely day out with the kids. The recreation area had enough items to keep the kids engage and busy for some time. It was nice to walk around the gardens and see the different parts to it. Feeding the birds briefly and walking along the path. The kids could also run across the field of grass which they enjoyed doing. Across the road is a fleet of shops and restaurants at the Calton Parade so that was a good place to stop by after the walking around and playing. All in all a good visit for a couple of hours during the half term break.

Great place to visit,I take my grandson most weekends, feed the ducks and geese, then play in the secured play area for children, then have a nature walk round the park and sometimes an ice cream.Highly recommended great for everyone of all ages.

It's a great park both for dog walkers and for children, a well kept lake with 2 resident swans, a fence off dog area and a fenced well kept children's area are the main features but small gardens and mini hedgerow displays are also attractive albeit in spring and summer. There is minimal parking facilities for just 2 or 3 cars, with permit or pay and display in the outer roads, but here are frequent and numerous busses so you could park and get a bus no issue. Remember do not feed the Canada Geese! (other birds are ok)

  • Gemma Norris

I'm being generous with two stars for this park. The park has a 'dog-free' zone (which is most of the park). The part that allows dogs is covered in dog mess and dirty. The pond absolutely stank of stagnant water with litter throughout. I'm surprised the geese and ducks are still there! There's also a small cafe selling hot and cold drinks and snacks too, looked clean from the outside.
Dog-friendliness
Not dog friendly
Picnic area
I wouldn't want to eat or drink in this park even in the picnic areas

Priory Gardens is quite a lovely park. It offers a children's play park that has climbing frames, slides and swings for all kids I would say. In addition to the park, there is open space to relax in as well as a pond with Swans and Ducks. A path winds around the whole park wich is great. Lastly there is a local church and court yards which you can investigate too A great place for tge summer, however in the winter months it can be a little muddy and flooded around parts of the ponds

  • Svetlana Maltsava

It could have been much nicer place if well managed and cleaned regularly. There's a wooden bridge across the pond that's been broken for ages! Hoards of huge geez that litter everywhere so you can't walk there without wellies. The pond is lovely but dirty beyond imagination. We love the playground though. It's quite spacious with loads of activities for the kids. Shame on Bromley Counsel for the dilapidated state of the park.

  • Stephen-James Jones (Steviegee)

Pleasant park, lake with Geese, swans and ducks. Children's playground in separate area with limited items ie slides, climbing frames and swings. Main park is pleasant to walk around with a small garden area. There is no dedicated car park or refreshments or toilet facilities. The park is just behind the high street so plenty of facilities outside of the park.

  • Stephanie Broderick

Convenient & near local shops to eat, drink or snack, we decided to have a picnic. It’s quiet and a place to think, walk, or just enjoy nature. There are beautiful ducks along the river, it’s a peaceful place to walk your dog, make a friend or relax with an old one. And there’s also swings and other recreational playing toys for the whole family to enjoy

  • Vee Littlefleur

Lovely park with ducks, geese and squirels. One portion of the park isn't allowed to dogs but there is still a large section open for them. The playground is large and can accomodate a lot of children. I am giving it only 4 stars as the prices of the ice cream van are about double of what you would pay in other area of Orpington

  • Chris Olson

A fantastic park in Orpington with a great play area for kids and families as well as a pond full of ducks and geese. Wonderful green areas for picnics and walks. There are numerous entryways into Priory Gardens with parking on side streets if needed. The play area is spacious with lots of fun for kids of most ages.

  • Simon Durling

The grounds are nice and well looked after and the children's park is decent. There are lots of ducks and geese to but this also means ALOT of goose poo over the pavement. Sadly though there are alot of people drinking by themselves here. I have been coming here since I was little so have alot a f good d memories

With the season changing the gardens are still Highley mantained with lovely roses and beautiful flowers its a pleasure just too sit and admire the scenery, and the lake with the ducks making an appearance from the water makes it a feel good experience , great gardens that any age can enjoy …

  • Curt Archer

The prettiest place in Orpington. Lovely ponds to feed the ducks. Pleasant, well maintained gardens and play area. Shame that there always seems to be some down-and-outs nursing a can of beer in the formal gardens. Makes it unpleasant to spend time in that area. If they weren't there it would be five stars.

  • Burrun Myriam

Better compared to how it was 2 years ago. Good size children's playground and grounds for picnic. Ice cream van pulled up for the ice cream lovers. I'm relieved that park has been cleaned, police patrol was on site and some other work are being done at the moment. Curious to see how it all turns up.

  • Gábor Nagy

It's a really pretty park with a great playground. The only thing I don't like is the water in the ponds do not appear to be clean.
Playground
The playground has great climbing areas for bigger (6+) kids, although not as great as Kelsey Park's. They also have stuff for younger kids, of course.

  • Terry Littlechild

Spoken to Bromley about the bike in the pound and 30 minutes later there was a photo of it being taken out of the pound. Happy how quickly they come and delt with the problem. See man at cartoon parade 30 minutes tops all done . Very much appreciate to let men who has help with this. …

  • Suzanne Hughes

Enjoyed a nice walk around the park, on Wednesday morning. The sum was shining and the gardeners were busy cutting the grass and spraying weed killer foam. There were lots of ducks and Canada geese to see on the pond and many different varieties of plants and shrubs.

  • Zerin Kaynakci

Lovely place to walk around, play really for the kids

Very nice, compact park + lake + swans + ducks + geese. Kids play area (large). Gardens with roses & irises. Large grassed area. Old Manor House at Orpington High St end. It's at the end of the High St with CWG War Cemetery adjacent (including Canadian Cemetery).

  • Grant Woodhouse

I've lived in Orpington all my life and the Priory Gardens have been a part of that. It's a lovely green area with ponds and formal Gardens but sadly feels neglected by the council which has led to locals neglecting it too. So much potential, just needs some TLC.

  • Nikki C

Lovely ponds and gardens. Lots of wildlife. Large playground. Several community groups helping take care of the place. Lopeto coffee shop is a very welcome addition to the park! Especially after a chilly day feeding the ducks or a nice sunny walk in the park.

  • Craig Hewitt

Priory Gardens is the perfect place to escape if you work in an office nearby, a quiet space away from the high street. Could do with some more park benches and some of the existing ones need replacing. The ponds add interest and a place for wild life.

  • hulk head

A nice park located at the end of Orpington High Street. We enjoy nice strolls around the grounds on nice warm days. There is a play area for little kids, a pond with ducks and geese (watch out for the poo!) And nicely kept gardens. Worth a visit.

  • Charlotte MetzHastings

Lovely little space with great features. See the ducks and geese but do not feed bread, pretty gardens to walk around especially in the summer. I love bringing my baby here. There are also events put on over the summer, do worth looking out for.

  • Gokhan Goksoy

I was looking for squirrels to capture and I saw the black crow hunted one of the lovely baby ducks. I feel so bad. Maybe i took that baby's photos earlier. I run after it to save her but clever black crow took her food away from me all the

  • Sruthi Noah

A lovely space for kids and adults. My 5 year old had an amazing time watching the ducks and running all over the place. The children's park is well maintained and a compact space for the kids to tire themselves out! Would be a great choice

  • Ilana Sarvari

A lovely park with beautiful gardens, a great playground for children, and a large pond with loads of ducks and geese. We took our children to ride their bikes on the path and then have a play in the playground and we all had a great time.

  • Paul E

A nice park in the middle of Orpington. Decent play area for kids catering for a range of ages. Also lots of green space for burning off energy. Also a couple of large ponds for feeding waterfowl. Lots of geese, so watch out for the mess.

  • Chris Swinney (Swinster)

Been to Orpington on a few occasions but never walked through the park, but this is a nice quiet sanctuary off the High Street. Would like to see some more care in the ornamental garden, but still a great place to spend some time.

  • Graeme Miles

I like the park and they play area for kids. Other parents are polite and chatty. There is often a large group of foreign men feeding ducks, don't think they are risk to kids as they seem just to be fattening up the ducks to eat.

  • Anoushka Bhatt

Quite a pretty spot, especially during spring season! Loads of flowers in bloom and moderately spacious. There are also many ducks and swans and a little water area, just don’t feed them! Great place for a walk on a sunny day.

  • Orelia Maloco

Spent yesterday walking around this beautiful park. Enjoyed all the nesting and baby birds. Trees, flowers and gardens were beautiful. Was a lovely day and seemed so quiet even though it was close to a main road

  • Adrian Clarke

Took several youngsters here. They enjoyed looking around the park, although we had to keep an eye on them around the flowerbeds. Didn't go near the ponds, that's another week when we learn about the River Cray.

  • Lorraine Parkin

Beautiful scenic park and garden. Large areas to picnic with family and friends also a nice play area with swings and slides for children. Everyone is catered for! Not to mention the wildlife... awesome …

  • Mohit Singh

Nice, lovely park for kids feeding ducks and white swans in good sized pond with running water. Good size park for kids to run around. There is also a play area having slides, swings and many other stuffs.

  • Dale Nelson

Me and a friend went through there a few times and the best part is that the young children can go on the swings and slides to be 100% honest if i were a kid i would love to go on the activities built in

  • Gary Crosby

Moderate sized park with a walking circuit around a nice pond and a decent playground for kids. Only draw back is too many people feed the birds on the paths and can be messy when walking on pathways.

  • Robert White

Nice place to walk. Beautiful flower arrangements, nice ponds with swans, geese, and wildfowl. Big children's playground. Sometimes ponds are a bit littered, and occasionally benches are vandalized

  • Jay Whiting

Lovely place to visit but there's rubbish laying around everywhere although there are bins in most places of the park! Overall a very nice and peaceful place to visit would definitely recommend

  • David Hyland

Priory Gardens lovely today. And the cafe is really nice. Excellent choice - hot and cold snacks, coffee and fresh cakes. Superb quality. Staff really welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!

  • Odette Coram

Fabulous park, divided up by fencing so geese and ducks aren't disturbed by dogs. Plenty of dog waste bins. We'll maintained park. Thoroughly enjoy walking there. lots of friendly people too.

  • Frederick Beaven

Lovely open air park with a lake. Lots of ducks, swans ect making use of the habitat in the midst of the urban jungle. Plenty of space to enjoy a picnick in these days of social distancing.

  • David Elliott

Beautiful gardens.kept tidy snd were very pretty. A bonus having the cafe there.
Restrooms
The cafe had a toilet that was meant for patrons but was being used by the general public

  • Rich Smith

Lovely Gardens and greenery area for adults, children and families on general. Plenty of wildlife to look at and plenty of green area to take in the fresh air. Gardens are well kept too.

  • Martin Norris

Avoid if you have a dog, they are not welcome in over half the park. The park itself is untidy, the duck pond is in a disgusting state. I can only say this park should be avoided.

  • Adam Dowling

Very nice little park, a well maintained garden area with a small museum near the back, several large duck ponds, and a decent sized children's play park. Would highly recommend.

  • La Rainne Madelle Bayhonan

Great place to spend dayoffs from ahectic week! You can find different fowls and wnjoy feeding them! A mini lake ia situated hwre too and can see queen swans around! …

  • Amit Kumar

Lovely and serene garden, beautiful autumn colours and the birds add to the beauty. There is designated no dogs zone, which helps the walkers and runners stick to the path.

  • Jonathan F

Nice place for a picnic, if you are in the area. Though the park is not as entertaining as others a bit further from Orpington. But it's nice if you want to stay local.

  • Katy Teague

Really beautiful park and excellent equipment in the children's play park. There are lots of ducks and geese which for me were quite overwhelming but my kids loved it.

  • HARI NATH

very good place for walking. Various types of geese add to its natural ambience. However, geese were uncomfortable with mud due to muddy pond because of poor rain.

  • Deborah Kenyon

Great for the kids! Big park with attractive gardens to walk round. Expanse of water with ducks, geese & swans and a great swing park with something for all ages.

  • Kathy Valdes

Lovely park but needs a bit of a tidy up at times. Am sure it is due to council cuts but it is still very lovely with a climbing area a lake and beautiful gardens

  • Katie Goodrum

Very small. Can walk around very quickly. Not worth travelling to specifically, however if on the top end of he high street, it's worth sitting in on a nice day

  • Stephen Y

Lovely playground for kids, parking not easy unless you pay for parking near the shops but it’s cheap, overall a good experience! Lots of gooses and ducks !

  • monica salas

Nice park with many features, path to full perimeter, pond, ducks, swans, swings and formal gardens too. Old Church House a bit run down which is a shame.

  • Mark Pilongo

Beautiful place for summer tons of different varieties of roses❤ .but the downside is the pond not too clean lot of waste and smelly came from the ponds.

  • Coolie Bwoy (VI)

Well maintained, Mrs loves the flowers, feeding the ducks is therapeutic, only peaceful and positive vybz. Orpington's little taste of nature.

Beautiful well kept gardens with an amazing pond with so much wildlife. Also regenerated the areas for the wild life. Excellent. Well done LBB
