I absolutely love Prospect Park & at this point I can say that for me and my family it is one of our favorites here in NYC. The park is massive and it has it all; whether your interests include sports such as baseball, skating, basketball, softball, hiking, bicycling, soccer, volleyball, tennis, birdwatching or nature programs there are so many way to explore & enjoy prospect park. For those of us with kids there are different playgrounds, carousel rides, a zoo, a beautiful lake where you can rent a pedal boat, & tons of picnic + barbecue areas. For our beloved dog pets there is also the Kensington dog run fenced area where they can run freely and safely. Prospect park also holds concerts, events & markets during all seasons so you can check their website for updates & upcoming events anytime. Finding parking during the weekend could be challenging but that’s just everywhere now in NYC. Please take care of the animals, plants & nature that live here, leave no trace & take your trash with you! Bathroom service could definitely improve in general, lots of bathrooms are kept closed so it makes it difficult to use a restroom.

Wedding photographer's perspective: Prospect Park in Brooklyn is just nice. If you saw my Brooklyn Botanic Garden review, I was in both places with the same wedding clients on the same day. My clients love this place and I can see why. They explained to me that the same designer of Central Park came up with this one; the great level of detail is apparent in Prospect as well, which is cool. There's everything here from water to the Peristyle building (I had to look this one up; it's the white one you see in my photos). The surrounding neighborhood seems to be jumping. My one regret is that I didn't have time to stop for food on my way back to Grand Central. On our way out, I was happy to see the gigantic splash pad, which is apparently a skating rink when it's cold. I'm a newish dad and was thinking of being able to bring my daughter to visit one day. Long story short, I'm a wedding photographer who likes Prospect Park a lot! Definitely check it out if you're in Brooklyn.

The most beautiful park in Brooklyn! It is truly breathtaking. With lots of trails and interesting areas like the waterfall, the duck pond, the children’s corner, the botanical garden and the zoo. Gorgeous statues and interesting structures throughout. We live nearby and come here a few times a week. Autumn in the park is truly a wonder to behold. Recently we visited the duck pond and met the people who care for the swans and ducks, they were so kind and informative and taught me and my toddler a lot about what it takes to maintain the nature and animals in the park. The people who work here truly love what they do and we are so appreciative. If you want a calm nice place to relax, or a well kept playground to explore or a fun filled Saturday with music and dance classes this is the place. We are so lucky to have Prospect Park.

A fantastic place to take the kids!! Great exercise by riding bikes or scooters together as a family!! After riding the full bike trail, you can take a break and have lunch at various local places near the park. After that, I suggest you WALK the bike path!! It's great exercise and sparks amazing conversations with the family. There will be many opportunities to take some amazing pictures. Did I mention, there are ducks!! You will truly love this park. The bathrooms are actually clean in the various mini playgrounds within the park. Enjoy!

Huge park. Unfortunately, we came there in a rainy day and the experience was not 100% as we expected. We also wanted to visit the botanical garden but it was too expensive for our budget. This is definitely a dog friendly place. There are a lot of dogs. A small piece of heaven for dog lovers. You can also ride your bike to cover the entire area.
Playground
Yes. There are some places kid friendly where they can safely play.

Picnic area
Huge park, I am sure you can put your blanket almost anywhere for a nice picnic.

Prospect Park is one of the best activities in the summertime if you are living in Central Brooklyn. Park has become safer over the years. Park has a lake for paddle boating. Park used to have motor based boating but stopped to preserve the ecosystem of the lake. You can ride a bike almost till 9 pm in the summertime. Dedicated lines are there for running and biking. Prospect Park Zoo is another attraction for young kids and the latest addition Lefrak Center for roller skating or ice skating in winter time. Boathouse at Audubon center where motorized boat rides used to operate. Park has outdoor theater to enjoy in summer.

Prospect Park is like a more hilly and undulating version of Central Park. It offers everything you can find in Central Park - bike paths, hiking trails, picnic spots, small ponds, and vast lawns for sitting and sunbathing. It's a breath of fresh air right in the heart of the city, a place where everyone can escape the urban hustle and bustle. This park is a true gem, providing a peaceful oasis within the city limits. Whether you're looking for outdoor activities or simply a quiet place to relax, Prospect Park has it all. It's a must-visit for both locals and visitors seeking a serene getaway in the midst of the city

Prospect Park is an urban park in Brooklyn, New York City. The park is situated between the neighborhoods of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Flatbush, and Windsor Terrace, and is adjacent to the Brooklyn Museum, Grand Army Plaza, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. With an area of 526 acres (213 ha),[5] Prospect Park is the second largest public park in Brooklyn, behind Marine Park. Designated as a New York City scenic landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Prospect Park is operated by the Prospect Park Alliance and NYC Parks.

Massive, scenic park in the middle of Brooklyn. It is not as developed and landscaped as Central Park, but it does feature actual natural forest, the last in Brooklyn they say. There's a good mix of small trails and large paved roads, so it can accommodate people out for walks of varying strenuousness, plus people running or biking. There's also a good mix of hills, flat areas, forested, and open spaces too. The lake is nice, with lots of turtles sunning themselves. The park is a real asset to the community, a great place to explore or exercise.

This was my first time attending an event at Lena Horne Bandshell. I expected it to be crowded and parking hard to find. The turn out was low so I didn't need the lawn chair I brought and parked a few blocks away. I would not recommend this for a regular event. There were so many hip hop 50 anniversary events happening that weekend that it was hard to choose where to go. I'm not a fan of crowds since the pandemic so this was perfect for me. I liked that there was a members only section, swag for purchase and helpful staff.

  • Jake S

Lovely large park with numerous walking and biking routes. Much better than Central Park! It has a pond with geese (not swans) and benches all over. Park rangers are on hand if you require anything while there's plenty of trees for shade and to help you embrace nature and the calming effect it has. Bikers use this as a good training circuit so watch out for them speeding past but the paths wide and allows for this. Only a couple of slight inclines nothing to big though

  • Nez M

I live at this park. From the waterfalls to the trails to the cute swans that live there. It's the best place. I spent a majority of my time there during the pandemic, I also used to go running a lot there. It's gorgeous in the Fall and it's amazing in the Spring. It's even beautiful in the snow you have to see it in every season and they do a great job in upkeeping the park. Very family friendly and just people Friendly altogether.

  • Emily Frenkel

This is actually my favorite park of all time. I’ve celebrated birthdays here, enjoyed casual strolls, physically enduring bike rides, and enjoyed fun trails off the main roads. The people who tend to frequent the park are incredibly warm and down to earth.
Restrooms
Public bathrooms are available
Dog-friendliness
Theres a dedicated section of the lake for dogs to play in!

Prospect Park is the second largest park in Brooklyn, opened in 1867. It was laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who also helped design Manhattan's Central Park. It’s less manicured than the latter and more ‘wild’. Only got to see small parts by the lake—the only lake in Brooklyn with a small island. More locals than tourists. Definitely worth revisiting.

  • Iuliia Koloskova

Yes, some people are disgusting for not picking up after themselves but Prospect park needs more/bigger trash cans where people usually gathering, in this instance South East entrance. Please someone start the petition for city to get this sorted. It's a shame this beautiful park looks this way on the weekends.
Picnic area
Dirty, lacking trash cans.

As Brooklyn's backyard prospect Park boosts a lake waterfall and beautiful walking trails. It has biking paths and a nice amount of sports fields. It also has a few amenities such as ice skating in the winter and roller blades in the summer. There is also a boat rental and bike rental. All in all this park makes for a great place to visit all year round.

  • Xiaoyi Zeng

Great place to relax and spend time in nature. My favorite is the lake area - it’s beautiful in the fall when you see the reflection of different colors. People (and animals) here always look so happy and chill. Prospect Park has a Brooklyn feel, not like tons of tourists in Central Park. However, it would be great if there are more public restrooms.

  • S. A

In the winter period the whole park does not look green but nevertheless it is a very beautiful park. must see in summer. There is an ice rink in the park. You can take walks, feed ducks and swans in the lake. Picnic can be done. A large park.
Restrooms
very clean, free, everything ok
Picnic area
Big and large place and very funny.

Such an amazing space in the heart of Brooklyn NYC. Pick your activity and you'll find a place in the park to join a group. We visited for the New York Marathin Runners. The place was brimming with activities and great energy, all types of people, the young and young at heart. What an incredible place to have for the community.

Prospect Park is so lovely, this space is amazing!! I recently visited for the first time while in Park Slope while seeing friends and it was a great experience! Even for a chilly December afternoon, walking the trails was so beautiful. While in the park, you can check-out The Picnic House & the Prospect Park Boathouse!!

  • Ana Sofía Vázquez

The most beautiful park in all NY. A lot of families, green area to scape the hurry of the city and the most beautiful foliage during fall. The park is extremely clean and is specially great for families or to chill and have a Picnic while listening to live music of one of the bands that always go and play.

  • Christopher Lock

This is definitely a hidden gem and has more things to do than you can find in a day. From boat rentals, to soccer fields, and hiking trails. This has everything for a perfect day out (weather permitting). They even have a Merry GoRound for the kids! ( First Picture ) located near the empire blvd entrance.

  • ita40200

The central park of Brooklyn and very much alike, aside from the fact that it's a bit more wild and bit less tourist and more locals. Beautiful combination of water and green, people and animals, and it's all in the middle of town. Easy to navigate via public transportation from and to the city.

  • Kevin Dempsey

We love whenever we get the chance to photograph couples in this park. It's one of the prettiest parks in the borough with lots of green space and some older bridges that lend themselves to help creative dynamic settings for engagement sessions and portraits. ig @thewillinghamsphotography

Absolutely lovely park - there are tons of trails you can take in the park and there are tons of open space as well to grill, picnic, or just relax somewhere in the park. There are some restrooms and water fountains located around the park as well. Amazing park - highly recommend!

beautiful natural park, plenty of gorgeous big trees, a long trail for cycling/running, and lovely lakes. love bringing my dog here. they also have an ice rink that opens up during winter season, they offer skate rentals and skate lessons (only through online reservation.)

An oasis in the heart of Brooklyn. Always full of activity, human and non-human, that you could spend a week immersing yourself in and still not get to everything. Beautiful and essential. If you visit, please leave in better condition than you found it :) enjoy!

  • Igor Grigoryev

Prospect Park locates in a King’s borrow (Brooklyn). Design with attention to details with love and beauty. Lake, bicycle lane, and playgrounds. Also you can visit a zoo and botanical garden. It’s not a similar as other parks. It’s just gorgeous Prospect Park.

  • Chris Alexander

Marcia Griffith and her family were fantastic. I remember her days with Marley and she still has the magic and knows what stirs the crowd. Grateful that it wasn't canceled because of the rain and mud.

  • Alexandra Valerio

Maybe my favorite park in New York. Are used to live near Central Park but I think that plastic part takes the cake. It feels way more outdoorsy and lots of little side trails. Also, very quaint thing next to all the brownstones in Brooklyn.

  • Jared Canizales

Beautiful park! I went to the bandshell for a benefit concert for BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn in partnership with the Blue Note Jazz Festival. Really great venue - the place is clean, the staff was friendly, and the sound setup is excellent.
