Update: They made it good!! After I left a one star review online, and a pretty intense voicemail to the office on Wednesday evening, I received two phone calls, one from James, and one from Joe, the manager. Very apologetic about my recent experience! When I returned to Public Storage Fairview the next evening, I was met by Joe, who did much more than I ever expected, wanting to make sure that I was compensated for their error, going above and beyond my expectations! They waived all additional fees for the day’s I leased two units while transitioning into smaller unit, which created a credit towards February’s rental; AND extended deadline to vacate old unit an additional full day!! This translates into a $218 savings for me, as I wouldn’t have been able to vacate my old unit by the end of the month (today), before the office closed at 6:00pm, and they don’t prorate monthly fees. They explained the situation with the freight elevator, and adjusted it according to elevator maintenance mechanic instructions, so it worked fine all evening! They also made sure I had a good working cart to use! They TRULY wanted to make it right and they did‼️ So...I’m feeling MUCH BETTER about them, know that if another issue arises, they will take care of it, because they do listen to, and want to take care of their customers!! So they deserve my 5 star rating!!! I’ve been a customer with Fairview Public Storage on Fairview for the past three years, reducing unit sizes three times because of continually increasing fees. Today I again leased a smaller unit, intending to transfer contents of larger unit into smaller unit. This evening (after 6:00pm when the office was closed), and after waiting to use one of only two carts left unlocked after office hours, and after loading two large steel shelving units onto the cart, I attempted to use freight elevator to go up three floors in the same building. First, the freight elevator sporadically works. I used to be able to use it consistently without any problems...now, I have to walk around to the other elevator when it decides to act up. Tonight, it would not recognize my access code to new unit! I went online to my account and confirmed that I had the correct access number. Very frustrating indeed❗️ What’s more frustrating is that there isn’t anyone we can call before/after office hours when something like this happens! I’m not asking that someone be in the office from 6:00am - 9:00pm, but from 6:00am-9:30am and 6:00pm-9:00pm, we should be able to call a number and speak to a live body!! Definitely customer no-service!! Totally frustrating wasted evening!! Sorry for ranting on, but these issues are a real problem when they’re happening to you! Just want you to know current issues at the Fairview Street Public Storage.

Update: 7/5/2021 I'm happy to say that shortly after writing my earlier review I was able to speak with the on-site manager. She listened to my concerns and was able to address the issues the same day. I'm impressed with how the manager calmly, professionally and promptly resolved this situation and I now plan on maintaining my lease at this location. Original Review: I've had a storage unit at this location for the past 11 months and want to provide some critical information to other potential customers. The staff at this location are usually helpful and the facility is kept clean. Accessing the main gate is often difficult due to traffic coming off of I-5 so try to come during off peak hours. The only real issue I've encountered involves the elevator in the older northern building which has been malfunctioning off and on for the past 11 months. I thought repairs would have been completed but for some reason they have not. In my opinion this is a safety issue as myself and other customers have become stuck in the elevator when it fails. Management seems unconcerned about the issue and my last experience they even refused to reset the elevator. When I got upset they said they would evict me because they don't need me as a customer and then proceeded to limit my gate access hours. I work 12 hour shifts as a nurse and can no longer access my own belongings because of this. When I brought this to their attention the only resolution I was offered was to move out of my unit. It's unfortunate that this location is being managed in this manner because I've had positive experiences at other Public Storage locations. I hope this review will save other people from having an poor experience like I have.

I have been to this location multiple times including when I needed to move in and out and the elevator has been broken 3 different times over the past year. Most recently, my storage unit got broken into (as well as 14 others). I was notified and told by the manager that "most people don't care since it's just their old stuff" and "no we don't have any cameras to see what was going on" and "no we don't have night security". Not only did this company not offer to reduce my rent/month, they did not offer a free month or two. They gave me free locks (I had two on my unit) which still got broken into. To note, my unit has my entire life (not old stuff) in it including sensitive information. I called to get a reduction in my rent/month and they did a "reassessment of the market", lowering my rent from $215 to $193. They made no comment on the fact that my unit was broken into. So with that being said, I have been overcharged for I don't know how many months. I called again a few days later to request a free month and was told I would hear back in 72 hours. I did not receive a call back. If you are looking for a safe place, I don't recommend this place. If you are looking for working elevators, I would not recommend this place. I'll be calling again and making note of my review in hopes to improve the care of this location as it needs a bit of help. Please get storage unit coverage (wouldn't recommend their plan but would get it through your own insurance company).

Never having ever rented a storage unit anywhere, I wasn't entirely certain of what to expect or how taxing the processing might be. To my surprise, the whole experience was perfect. Easy, quick, friendly, professional and straight forward. I looked up pricing and locations online, created a reservation, got a call back next morning, set up appointment next day, stopped by, got immediate assistance, tour and explanation of lease, etc. Signed papers and was in and out w/keys in hand in about 15-20 minutes. So simple! I couldn't be more happy with the experience, convenience, pricing and Wesley was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Colin was supportive as well. Actually very excited about my experience, transaction and these days, it seems sadly rare to have efficient and positive experiences with customer service. I can honestly say this was one of them. Thank You!!

If you live around SLU, this facility is in a very convenient location. The building my unit was in was on the south side, and it was well lit, clean, and well maintained with good air circulation. It was nice that I was able to do all paperwork online, including moving in and moving out, and all the gate access with the app on my cellphone. If you need assistance, just walk to the office near the entrance, and there is always a friendly staff who can help you. In my case, it was Jackson. When I moved in, I had trouble finding my unit and he kindly gave me directions on how to get to my unit. When I moved out, I wasn’t sure if I had any remaining balance because I had to move out earlier than planned, and Jackson kindly checked my balance for me and made sure that I have no remaining balance to pay. Overall, I highly recommend this facility!

Unit itself is well maintained, staff was nice during the little time I interacted with them. Hours are better than most places. Traffic getting to and from the unit is a huge deterrent though between Mercer and I-5 and Fred Hutch. They tried to increase our rate from $120 to $170 (a FORTY PERCENT increase - I mean inflation is real, but there’s no way the managerial cost of this place increased by 40% in a matter of months. My income certainly didn’t!) and at first we were able to stop it and then it happened again, this time without warning. The only way to get a hold of someone is to leave a voicemail inquiring about availability- that pretty much guarantees they’ll call you. Otherwise it’s extremely difficult to get a hold with someone at the physical office.

I’m super impressed with the service here. We initially rented a 5x10, which went great. Friendly, helpful people at the desk gave me a tour, explained how to access carts and elevators, then followed up with an easy rental process. Two weeks later we realized that we were going to need more space, so I worried that this would be where things went haywire. Boy was I wrong. I had the same great, friendly service, easy process and fast turnaround as before. The manager, Rodney, helped me find a bigger unit on the same floor for easy transfer, went through the paperwork quickly, and set me up at a lower monthly rate than I had expected. No hassle, no fuss, just a great experience.

I have used Public storage since December 2020. I have been extremely pleased with the staff and the facility. Move-in was very easy as the large elevators were more than enough to fit all my stuff. I visited once after a year and a half to check up on everything and it was all in perfect condition. I moved out recently as I’m moving to a new city. I had to do it all remotely, and the staff was very accommodating. I had an issue where I didn’t close out my account fully even though it was past the end of the month, but Julien was able to close it out and wave my fees for the month. Very grateful for Public Storage during this pandemic and highly recommend them to anyone!

Stored a 3b/3b house here in a 15x18 for 6 weeks. Cannot rave enough about the cleanliness, security, efficient booking, check in and staff. I ran into Julian multiple times over the month, always so helpful and nice. Ran into Karisha a few times as well, very kind, always there to help. Access is easy for a moving truck, even during busy weekend dates. I easily zipped in an out for small things during the month as well. Units are impeccable, literally spotless, and very very secure. Would recommend to anyone. And it’s absolutely worth the extra money, if thats what you’re toiling over. If we need storage again in the future, there is zero question we’re returning here.

The manager and staff here went out of their way to accommodate my needs during my relocation. They were very professional and friendly, and took the initiative to reach out to me several times to confirm the security of my unit, and to complete my move out. I didn't have to do all the leg work, which was really helpful since I was busy getting situated in a new town with a new job. It was nice that they took the stress of managing my unit off of my plate. I would highly recommend the Public Storage unit on Fairview in Seattle! High praise and many thanks to Julie and her crew! You guys ROCK!

I rented storage at 700 Fairview for a little over a year (in the south building), and highly recommend them. The staff here are a pleasure to work with, and the building is very clean and well lit, climate controlled, and safe. So, no musty or weird odors, and I never once felt creeped out on late night storage runs. The location is supremely convenient. I could ding it 1/2 of star because there's no indoor drive-thru loading bay, but I won't because the convenience, quality of the space, and great staff more than offset it. A+++

Rodney and all the Public Storage associates that assisted me from day 1 through the conclusion of my storage rental today provided excellent customer service. Everyone was extremely friendly and all the information I was provided was very thorough and clear. Overall the entire experience with the Fairview Ave Public Storage was excellent. It would be helpful if the weekday access hours went at least until 7pm because Seattle's afterwork and rush hour traffic really can create logistical difficulties when renting a storage unit.

I had zero issues with access, security or storage while my stuff was here. I chatted with a person online on the Public Storage website who said I had to pay for a full month even though I was only using it for one day of the entire month. Upon checking out, I was told I was getting a refund which was a nice surprise! Only thing that could have been better was an explanation of exactly where my unit was because it turned out there was a basement and that's where mine was. Staff helped me figure that out though.

Same as some of the other reviewers, I love that I got a really great deal on a storage space. I like that the building is new, clean and well lit. Easy to get to also. BUT the best part was working with Michelle. She was simple OUTSTANDING! She let me look at several spaces, helped me figure out what I needed, was patient and walked me thru the whole process. She couldn't have made it any easier for me. A few hours later I'm all moved in and happy as a clam. I highly recommend working with Michelle.

Leaving 4 stars because the Local customer service at this location is great, but the general company deserves 2 stars because the "1-800" part of the company is horrible. Local management is great, but Public Storage has stereotypical "big company" issues. The local management is getting blocked by upper management so they can't fix the local issues, and the general public storage customer service can't fix anything... It's a classic example of bad business management, but good local management.

Easy convenient off Mercer exit at Fairview. A few spots to park before the security gate. 1 block from C Rapid Ride stops, 2 blocks from trolley to Westlake mall. Also Mohai at SLU and Wooden Boat Center if you want to take a lunch break watching boats in between packing. Clean site. Only drawback is they keep raising the prices! For us long timers we should get a discount since we stay for years! Just because you're in a rich neighborhood (Google, Allen Ins) doesn't mean tenants are rich!

Who knew I could love a self storage place so much? This place is super convenient, clean secure, and oh by the way, Karisha the manager is amazing. Seriously. If her district manager reads this review, please give her a promotion and a huge raise. As someone that worked in retail and customer service for more than 20 years, I appreciate amazing customer service and Karisha nails it every time. Genuine, personable, all around amazing at her job. You get it… I would hire her if I could.

I was helped by Laura today, and she was absolutely great! She helped show me around as I searched for a new unit to transfer to (downsizing), and she was so patient while I decided. Despite it being very cold outside, she kept a smile on her face and was a pleasure to talk to. Laura made the whole process so simple and easy, and really affirmed my choice to stay renting from this location. I very much appreciate all the help and her kindness. Thank you again!

Facility is run very well. Compartmentalized so you can only access your designated area. Overall very clean, accessible, and they have moving supplies kept in stock in the main office. Easy to access via the app and Julian did a great job walking me through and showing me everything. Edit: you will need to purchase a lock from them based on the way they’ve constructed their units. You can use your own but you’ll need to let them know so they know it’s yours.

Rome was amazing in helping me set up my storage unit! I am a college student moving my stuff in for the summer and he was so helpful in everything. This is my first time renting a storage unit and he and the whole staff helped me with no problems. He was fast, super friendly, and a great person to do my unit with. Mainly leaving a review for Julian as I called over my unit’s rent being raised substantially and he quickly put in a request to waive the rent increase for 6 months and it was approved. I’ve used this place for several years and the yearly rent hikes hurt but would be good for short term needs. Basically been my go to for storage though. Climate controlled is important for me, access, security and price. Again, quite high priced but otherwise good choice.

Julian and the team at this Public Storage offer the most friendly and efficient service I have ever experienced. They will help you take care of unexpected things with a smile and quick action. The units are clean, well-lit and the location is super convenient to visit when you're in transit through Seattle (major access to freeways and hotels close by). I chose this location for it's proximity to my past apartment and my current apartment. I was not disappointed by the ease and quality of the whole establishment. I reserved my unit all online and easily found my spot once i got to the location. There's an app you can download too! I only used the space a short while, but Karisha's friendly face and superb customer service will have me coming back! Thank you guys for all the support!

Also you can access your unit until 9pm which isn’t the case for most of the other public storage locations. 10/10 and 10 ⭐️‘s! I would def recommend for the great customer service and friendly staff!! Keep it up y’all!

I’ve only had the most pleasant and helpful experiences with the staff at this Public Storage on Fairview in SLU. Julian has helped me multiple times and is always so kind. Storage/moving/life can be very stressful and you want to be able to trust the staff, be welcomed with smiles and be helped as much as you can. This is the place to get all of those things. And the place is very clean!

Jackson helped me vacate today and amazingly saved me $90 with his expertise. Everyone who has helped me here over the last 3 months of rental have been such kind, down-to-each, understanding humans. This place is awesome! I needed a space that wasn’t too far from home to keep decorations, seasonal clothes, etc. and was so happy I found this PS location. It’s clean, well taken care of, and Karisha + Julian are so awesome and extremely helpful! There are tons of unit size options, so if you need a little extra space (or a lot) at a reasonable price, look no further. Highly recommend.

I moved from my home into a public storage place last week. Julian and Nichole were GOLDEN! warm, kind, patient, at-the-ready. I was super stressed and they held my hand, metaphorically, and made this move as smooth as silk. Kudos to Public Storage for hiring such wonderful people. i'll add that the facilities are first rate - amazing security for example, and very clean. again, bravo!

The facility is very safe behind multiple layers of security that are easy to access with the app. The buildings are clean and well maintained. The office staff has been awesome with support and shout out to Jackson who helped us transition from a large unit to smaller unit where he secured us a special rate. I'm happy to continue business with them for as long as I need storage!

My recent experience with acquiring a storage unit was sound. My rep Aron was knowledgeable and patient. The contract was long and he explained each section so I was able to easily understand it. Allow an hour if you have not done this before. Overall I think the customer service for me is worthy of the five stars, everyone was nice and easy to communicate with. Much appreciated!

I have been using this location for close to 3 years now. It is in a good location, has multiple exits to avoid the traffic on Fairview, gated, and has great units. I consolidated from two spaces to one and Julian was a massive help. Julian found me a great rate and was attentive during my move out. I have yet to have a bad experience with this location. Highly recommend.

Larissa and William are so awesome. They helped me out several times and seriously saved my tail each time as I tend to lock myself out or forget keys or any other mistakes a person can make. They were there for me and have made coming here a true pleasure. Which may sound odd for a storage space but they are always incredibly kind and fun to talk to. Highly recommend.

Convenient location for a storage facility in the middle of the city. Decent rates for being downtown and you might even be able to snag a good deal from time to time. Gate access is easy with a key code or using your phone. Carts are sometimes difficult to find so be aware you may have to go looking for one that isn't close to your unit. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I have had a storage unit at this location for several years and all personal have have been great, recently Dub helped when my keys and security code had been stolen from my car. Immediately, he changed the security code and got me a new set of keys. He is friendly and very considerate. I definitely would recommend this property for storage. Christine Christensen

The staff is always friendly and professional. Jeff provided me with detailed information and was patient when I compared 4 different units twice. The exterior and interior of the storage buildings are clean and well maintained. The employees are industrious and I was impressed when I saw an employee cleaning the exterior units doors and the windows to the office.

I've worked with storage facilities all over the United States. As I'm sure many of you can agree, service is a thing of the past. But, today I was pleasantly surprised by a gentleman that blew my mind. Mr. Jackson truly reminded me that there are a few good folks left. Stored a 1-bedroom apartment's worth of furniture in a unit over a 6 month period. Checking in was very easy, with friendly and helpful staff who gave me good directions to my unit. After 6 months, I was happy to find that nothing had changed. Moving out was very easy. Once again, staff was very friendly and helpful, making the process simple and quick.

Had an excellent experience so far with my first storage experience. All the staff have been friendly and helpful, Julian in particular. The place is clean and well maintained. Climate control was a particularly important feature for me and when I visited the unit on a hot day, the building was cool. Looking forward to a continued positive experience!

Julian was fantastic, and saved my entire day. Going through hoops and rings of fire to assist me, going as far as to stay 30 minutes late and stick with me the entire time. I have been renting a unit here for the past three years and I solidly recommend it. The freight elevator here is such a plus. This week I had to transport my stuff out of state and Julian was incredible in helping me out with my questions and concerns. I would rent here again.

Very positive experience with Julian and his team getting my belongings moved into a unit so that I can try Van Life for a year. They were all friendly, helpful and solution oriented.

Nice location, heated, good app, but the elevators are a nightmare to use and you can spend 5 minutes just trying to get the doors to close.
